- Carolyn (10/5): - Check in was easy. Staff friendly and courteous. Gave clear instructions about property.
Centabay Lodge so handy for the Banana boat ocean series swim between Paihia and Russell. Thank you for a good stay.
- Vivienne (10/5): - Friendly helpful checkin/ good shared kitchen/ nice garden/ hot tub & games room a plus/ clean room
- albin (10/5): - Good price, gret location
- Dean (10/5): - The location was perfect for our requirements.
- Gregory (10/5): - It was very hot without ac but I knew that going in. Nice for the price
- Jonasi (8/5): - First time staying in a backpackers motel. Although we got a room with an ensuite, the atmosphere being around other people was fun facilities were good and close to everything in the township. Only thing was the parking is limited based on a first come first serve basis which was ok with us.
- Peter (10/5): Will stay again - Studio room in a hostel. Lovely staff. Clean all round. Room of a decent size with newly fitted kitchen and cooker in good condition
- Lindsey (8/5): - Comfy beds. Quiet considering it is next to the fire department. Kitchen could use a little work or at least people could clean up after themselves (maybe this is just the old person in me). ๐. Bathrooms all in good shape and clean.
- ed (10/5): - Studio was prefect size, plenty of room. Walkable to everything in Paihia. Really happy with our stay!
- Janelle (10/5): - Nice and clean, walking distance to everything, friendly staff, had everything we needed and the price was right.
- Philip (6/5): - Would only recommend to people under 25 / hardly got any sleep as walls are paper thin - might as well of been a curtain, noisy people in other rooms till 1.30am
Facilities were not maintained very well & had to wait at least an hour or so each night to cook or get a table - tip do that at 5pm.
Stayed at a number of lodges & caravan parks while in NZ, none were like this one.
Lucky it was our first stay on our trip & would rate it as our worst experience in over a months travelling.
- David (10/5): - Good central location & value for money. A little noisy at night time. Staff were excellent & very helpful thank you.
- Stephen (10/5): - Enjoyed very much. Will definitely stay again. Nice room, good position to waterfront, and friendly owner. Enjoyed our time immensely.
- Isaac (8/5): Customer Service Excellent. - The best service from a human I have experienced at a hostel. She was great. Only had 2 toilets and showers, which is not enough (one toilet was out of service.) room was only 5 beds which is very nice. Great location.
- Robert (10/5): - Was handy to the town centre and easy to find . Staff were friendly ๐
- Allen (8/5): - Quiet, comfortable location walking distance from the center of Paihia.
- Richelle (8/5): - Our room was pretty dated and small but had everything you needed. Lovely fluffy towels and soap supplied. No toilet paper in the communal bathroom. Kitchen area is really spacious and well stocked. Lots of fridge space and well set out.
- Kevin (8/5): - It was good for a short stay. It is close to everything.
- Gael (10/5): - Veey handy to everything in central piahia. Had studio unit 3 singles perfect for what we needed. And reasonably priced.
- Colin (6/5): - For the number of people staying there, it needed more toilets. The staff were great. Liked the spar pool.
- Martin (8/5): - Very nice and central
- Kerrylee (10/5): - Great stay. Really helpful staff. Lovely people. Will stay again.
- Mark (6/5): - Good location
- Markus (6/5): - Great location.
Room not enough air circulation, stuffy.
Beds far too soft
- Nikki (8/5): Thanks for the nice stay - Thought there may have been housekeeping at least once during our stay, but for 52.50 per night can't complain. Friendly staff including flooffy doggy, enjoyed the hammocks (not to mention having to get helped and heaved out of it)
Just found that with 2 people it got a bit cramped in the private room after four nights, but if you're travelling alone, or there for a shorter stay would recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly staff, eager to help if needs arose. Rooms are warm and clean. A fridge and TV in our room. Big kitchen area. Washing machine and dryer. Undercover washing line. Everything you need at this lodge really.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cheap and cheerful. Easy to deal with, great communication and would recommend for a economical option.
- Catherine (8/5): - As expected for the price. Everything you need but no frills
- Mel (10/5): - It was a nice, convenient place to stay at low cost
- Verified traveler (10/5): - all good, great i could have my little dog and got to make a fuss of yours
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We were able to take our little dog and everyone was so friendly!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good value, location, and vibe. Great staff. Room had a slightly musty smell.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We were able to upgrade our room for a good price, the location was perfect and there was a really cute little dog that lives there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Thank to the staff who all were very happy & helpfull, can recommend to all & we would be happy to stay there again...
- Luis (8/5): - Confortable. Cocina comรบn grande. Refrigerador en dormitorio. Muy cerca de todo.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good helpful service during stay, trying to do their best
- Clรฉa (4/5): Middling - Run-down spot in a great location. Common areas were not clean. Hot tub full of sand. Not enough toilets for the number of beds. Room was comfortable in a prison cell way.
- Robert (10/5): Thanks - Management were very friendly and helpful. Room, ensuites and kitchen were clean and spacious. I will stay here again. Thank you
- Mary (10/5): - Centabay lodge was quiet, clean, and centrally located. We stayed in a private room and found it spacious. We rented kayaks from the lodge for a few dollars which was great!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Lack of off street parking. And over charged for our 2nd night
- Wayne (8/5): Great location - Great value for money, room had all that was required for a comfortable stay. Modern bathroom, excellent large shower. Helpful owner and very central location, everything within easy walking distance. Would definitely stay again.
- Riah (8/5): - It was a nice place however I wouldn't call it a lodge, Its more like a backpackers.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Centabay - I only stayed here one night, so it was good enough for what I needed. The bathroom sink were dirty. The place looks run down, but if all you need is s place to sleep then it's ok. The kitchen is fully equipped, but is disorganised..
- Ichiro (2/5): You'd better not staying here. - I regret .
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok stay at Centabay - Excellent location in the center of Paihia, very easy to anywhere. A very nice property in itself, definite beach vibe. Kitchen was ok, modern and convenient. The rooms are very small, bed is just a 6 inch foam mattress with old sheets and duvet that were worn and obviously cleaned in house, smelly. The bathrooms are all outside, were always cold, and not-so-clean during my stay. The hostel is maintained by people that stay there for free accommodation, service was non-existent. I would stay again because of the excellent location, and compared to other places in Paihia the price is good, but the value you receive for the money, it's a toss up. Absolutely no frills stay.
- Cynthia (8/5): Shower needs a good snake. - Location great! Check in and out easy. I stayed in a shared dorm style room. It was clean and bedding was fine. The only thing that took away from the experience was the extremely slow draining shower. Basically standing in dirty water and since it drained so slow, means there's dirt left from the previous bather.
- Blake (6/5): Great location - Small room with separate outdoor shower and toilet. Great location. No frills but OK.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Best backpacker choice in Paihia - Best location for any backpacker place in Paihia, right in the middle of town. Did not like separate cold outdoor restrooms. Really did not like only one power plug in a room of 7 people. The staff are just other backpacker staying there working for free accommodation, not friendly and no help. It is nice property and the location is great, I would stay again.
