The location is very nice and the Lochside seating would be excellent in good weather. The location also makes it easy to get to places in Southwest Scotland or Cumbria. The food could have been better, but it was average. We didn't have to wait long to be served which was good The cost for dinner is about what you would pay in any pub or mid range restaurant. The breakfast seemed to be pre cooked rather than cooked when ordered, but not entirely sure about that.

Towels so small they would have been small on a 5 year old. Only 2 bottles of water for whole stay and no top up of coffee etc. Not worth the amount the 2 night stay cost

- breakaways (8/5): Relaxing break in beautiful surroundings. - The location was lovely. The view over the loch from the decking was lovely and peaceful. As it was quite isolated we ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was very good. There was a very extensive menu. Although the room itself was very clean the outside decking area was in need of cleaning and some TLC.
- SMac (8/5): Absolutely loved our stay, would definitely recommend The Inn on the Loch!! - The room was wonderful with a view onto the loch...great to wake up to!! we had both an evening meal and a traditional Scottish breakfast during our stay, everything was very well prepared and tasted amazing....certainly one of the best breakfasts we have had in Scotland. The night sky was also fabulous to see, as well as the bird life during the day. The only wee niggle (and it was only small) was the traffic from the road in front of the property....it just meant we were unable to have the window open, so did not benefit from any fresh air during the night.

For two nights over Easter weekend with little notice I think it was a great price. The loch was gorgeous and even though we stayed during Storm Dave we had lovely views and getting cosy in a lake view room during bad weather probably added to the experience. Food in the restaurant was great in the evenings, lots of choice and staff all super helpful. Drinks offered throughout each meal and brought quickly. We came for dinner one night as they were due to stop serving (without realising!) and staff fit us straight in no bother. Breakfast menu wasn't really my thing but it's included and you can stick to cereal/toast/continental. Lo

- Angela (10/5): Excellent hotel with stunning views - Beautiful room, well appointed, warm and very clean, with an amazing view over the loch. Plenty of tea and coffee etc and biscuits in the room. Breakfast was served in the dining room looking over the loch - lots of choices for every taste and appetite - the Scottish breakfast was lovely. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Couldn’t fault it.

I wish there were a place nearby where you could take your dog for a walk. It would be nice to have a small fridge in the room for cold drinks.

- Eimer (1/5): Appaling place, don't waste your money. - We didn't like anything about this hotel. When I raised an issue regarding me trying to contact the hotel, I was treated in a very offhand manner, told that I could have amended my booking via Booking.com or emailed them. First of all I didn't want to amend my booking and frankly, if you don't call me back when you have said you would or call when I have left a voicemail message, I don't have much faith you are going to respond to an email! Worse still, when we entered our room it was full of flies! We stayed long enough to book another hotel and then left. Everything could have been better, the manner of the lady that checked us in could have been improved and no flies in the room would have been a good start. The hotel really isn't anything more than a glorified truck stop. In addition to that, a car for sale in the car park is a definite red flag. We had an amazing stay elsewhere that night for considerably less than The Inn on the Loch.

- woolfall (8/5): - The balcony overlooking the loch was lovely but we did not realise when we booked how close the premises were to the A75 so there was quite a bit of traffic noise. The food was really good at breakfast and there was a great varied menu/specials board in the evening. Whilst the staff were lovely they did seem a bit disorganised at times and whilst we always seemed to get served at the bar ok I did notice that at times people were left waiting around. There is a lovely big log burner in the premises which was lit the first two nights we were there but on the third night which incidentally was the coldest it was not lit.
