Guest Reviews
- Kaitlyn (10/5): - We had a very difficult journey to get Dover, and the brightest spot of the trip was the staff at Westward Ho Hotel. Thank you for accommodating our late check in after we were significantly delayed. Thank you for helping us get breakfast, and get parking registration. Thank you for being patient with our small children. Really, you made a stressful trip much more manageable, i cannot thank you enough. We will stay here again.
- Vladimir Tiukhtin (10/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): - Very clean, friendly staff, and great location. Stairs
- Locatie helemaal super. Personeel heel vriendelijk. Ontbijt keurig en goed verzorgd. Keurig schoon alles. Matrassen erg zacht. Verder prima.
- Timothy (10/5): Excellent position for channel crossing - Good location
- Sam (8/5): Super location & sea view - room sea view, overlooking the gardens & the Leas was superb
Just a short walk away from the Leas, Zig-Zag path etc
and only a couple of minutes away from the start of the Folkestone parkrun!
- River (10/5): - Nice location with ocean view.
Optional parking is close (across the street) and secure in a private garage.

- Charlotte (8/5): Lovely little place with really friendly staff - Nice light spacious rooms, good location. Nice breakfast. No hot water in our room! Sure staff would’ve tried to help us fix this but there wasn’t time to ask.

- Marc (10/5): - It's very good

- Anganeta (7/5): -
- Rachel (8/5): A friendly welcome but decor/facilities a bit tired - Staff were lovely and welcoming. Check in was simple, including sorting out parking permit. Bed was comfortable. Lovely sea view out of window. Appreciated toiletries & tea/coffee provided. Excellent location for seafront access. Noisy rolling ensuite door wasn't ideal for use during the night. Breakfast was OK - would have been nice to have some ham rather than/in addition to the salami on offer. Price is probably average for location but it felt a bit expensive overall given lack of cooked breakfast and overall state of decor.
- Chris (7/5): Hotel is nice and good for families. Steer clear of the sister hotel “Skuba Bistro”! - Family room was ideal - one double bed and three singles, all made up with clean bedding and miniatures of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner per person on each bed. Bathroom was basic but met our needs. We left early in the morning so they kindly arranged for “takeaway” breakfast to be left outside our bedroom consisting of a pastry, a yogurt, a piece of fruit and a carton of fruit juice per person - ample and very well received by our three young children. Didn’t really see any staff except the chap who checked us in - very pleasant although was clearly primarily working at the “sister hotel” up the road and had dashed to meet us! The staff asked us to call an hour before we arrived, then when we did they asked us to call again 15 minutes before we got there - in hindsight we now know it’s because there aren’t any staff based at the hotel but regardless, a little annoying to keep being asked to call them. Also, when we called we asked for a restaurant recommendation to get dinner for our three young children. They recommended the “sister hotel” which was a short stroll from the hotel. However, the Skuba Bar & Bistro was entirely inappropriate for children and this recommendation was obviously only made to keep the money “in house”. Clearly popular with locals, the outside area was busy with many drunk men shouting loudly across the patio area and smashing glasses. We went inside to request to eat inside but the girl serving clearly had no idea and we ended up eating in the bar area. The bar area felt like a cafeteria rather than a restaurant and with minimal soft furnishings was extremely loud and echoey every time one of the drunk patrons came in to order more drinks. Might be alright for an adult group to grab basic food and a few drinks but certainly not family-friendly and should not have been recommended to us.

- Natalie (10/5): Hidden gem! - What a gorgeous hotel! It is beach front, we had sea view, room was gorgeous we had a lovely stay. We only stayed one night as a stop over before driving to France, and I would 100% book to stay there longer Parking is difficult if you don’t know where you’re going, but other than that was fabulous

- Sam (10/5): Great stay & lovely room - Super easy to check in & very friendly staff. Lovely big sea view room, very comfortable, warm & clean.
Great location and parking.
We really enjoyed our night here & would definitely return.
- Ben (6/5): Convenient - Nice old Victorian house and room was spacious No working shower and beds not very comfortable
- Maria Teresa (7/5): - Very comfortable stay and very helpful staff
- Blanka (10/5): - Breakfast was amazing and place was beautiful
- Dirk (3/5): -
- dave (10/5): excellent - specious room
- Paul (10/5): Great bed and breakfast - Great location, beautiful views, staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was very nice and young lady serving was very pleasant and helpful, room was very large and cosy, had everything I needed, spotlessly clean and had a great sleep, this establishment had everything I needed and will definitely be staying there again N/a
- Maj (1/5): - Intet.
- John (9/5): Ideal for parkrun - Excellent location overlooking the Leas and ideal for attending parkrun. Room 5 had great sea view. Sink position was a little awkward.
- Eliška (6/5): - Super lokalita. Sprcha s teplou vodou.
- Justin (7/5): Functioneel - Aardig personeel.
- Henrike (8/5): -
- Micaela (7/5): -
- Andy (8/5): Nice apartment with far reaching views out to sea. Friendly attentive staff and a great continental breakfast. Overall -
- John (8/5): - Very friendly staff, very clean, good breakfast
- Joy (10/5): - The hotel was excellent, especially considering the very reasonable price we paid. Although an old building, it was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable.
We also had a room with a sea view, and the hotel was 2 minutes walk from the lovely promenade.
The lady that checked us in was very helpful and friendly.
The hotel is also very convenient for the Channel Tunnel. Highly recommend.
- Harmony Ghani (10/5): -
- philip (4/5): - Breakfast was stale pastries.
- Sally (7/5): Just what I ne8 - Friendly greeting; comfortable bed; fluffy towels; hot shower; quiet room. Chocolates and toiletries a nice bonus. Nothing
- Françoise (10/5): -
- Deborah (8/5): -
- Mark (8/5): - Excellent value for money, staff polite friendly, really good location.
- Liz (5/5): Could be better - The space, the welcome pack The shower was poor, mattress very worn and couldn’t sleep on it. Bread was mouldy
- Michael (8/5): -
- Andrew (4/5): - Room was fairly clean but lacked plugs for electric toothbrush Charged parking not great gor the price. Felt more like a hostel thsn a hotel
- Alison (8/5): - One of the best things about Folkestone is how peaceful the seafront is, because there are no cars racing along it. The Westward Ho is in a dream position, with stunning sea views, calm and quiet surroundings, and gorgeous walks along the undercliff into central Folkestone and the harbour. Our room was good, though the shower and the sashcord windows were a bit ropey and needed a bit of attention.
- Ruth (10/5): Friendly, welcoming, good accommodation - Friendly welcoming staff, bright, clean room, with lovely view. Great location for Le Shuttle.
- Dana (8/5): - fantastische Lage!
Freundliches Personal beim Frühstück Total unbequemes Bett.
- Edoardo (7/5): -
- Weijian (6/5): - Close to the beach, good location. Breakfast was included in our room which was convenient.
you can hear the other guest sometimes from above rooms. Unfortunately, there were loud noises from the above room past midnight
- Jörn (8/5): -
- Pru (8/5): Had a lovely time and perfect for 1 night - Breakfast was great and the staff were lovely The beds weren't the most comfortable and the double was sagging at one end
- James (8/5): - room had everything I needed for an overnight stay. Bed was comfortable, shower was warm. Parking was straight out front for my motorcycle which was handy and secure as I could see it rom my window. the vending machine...lol the lollies dint come out, had to put double money in to get them...it was a sign that I shouldn't had got them in the first place.
- David (9/5): -
- Rachel (7/5): Great location for your tunnel. Good enough for a night. - Easy location for Eurotunnel, great service from the staff on duty It’s in need of a revamp. It’s pretty basic. I wouldn’t want to stay longer than a night.
- Becky (6/5): - Excellent location. Beautiful building in lovely part of Folkestone. Pleasant breakfast and lovely staff. Bathroom was very tired. Access round side of building to the garden would be nice.
- Lucy (8/5): Pleasant accommodation if a bit basic, friendly staff, great location. - Location is great for the beach front and centre of Folkestone. Easy access to harbour area and lots of walks.
Staff in hotel were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great, room was clean tidy and cosy. The room was a little shabby but understandably it's an old building. Towel rail wasn't usable, shower was good but small and basic, pipes were quite noisy at night and noise from other rooms was noticeable.
- Centrale lokatie, ruime kamer, prachtig uitzicht, prima ontbijt, vriendelijk personeel De matrassen konden iets comfortabeler
- Teresa (10/5): - Lovely friendly staff and breakfast was great, looking forward to our next visit
- Hamilton Nadia (5/5): Fair and clean - Location and friendly staff. No cooked breakfast options.
No clean towels on second night or bottled water
- Joop (8/5): -
- Fulvio (7/5): B and B di livello molto buono - Personale gentile. Colazione ottima.
- Eva (9/5): -
- Susan (8/5): We enjoyed it and it served us well. - Views. Location and traditional seaside hotel vibe. Breakfast staff were lovely. Vague smell of Victorian plumbing!
- Frank (7/5): Sfeervol typisch Brits verblijf. - Location right by the boulevard and city center. Parking may pose a challenge. Beds rather short.
- Edoardo (7/5): -
- Damien (5/5): Cheap and did the job - Family room was perfect size wise but bathroom was poor, and noise from adjoining room. TV came on at 3am loud and we couldn’t switch off via remote as batteries dead
- Hans (8/5): - Lovely place in a lovely town located near a beautiful coastline
- derek (8/5): - Good location, easy parking system. Good breakfast choices.
- Rhonda (6/5): - Breakfast was ok but beds were like camp beds, carpet was dirty and TV/internet didn't work. We were only there for one night and I wouldn't return.
- Daniella (8/5): Mooie overnachtingsplek dichtbij de ferryboot! - Locatie was prachtig, direct aan boulevard. Familiekamer was prima. Ontbijtbuffet was goed verzorgd.
- Louise (8/5): Good but window blinds let in the Light - My double bedroom had a lot of character and the bed was comfortable. I liked the quick touch bedside lamps. The fresh fruit salad at breakfast was good and the staff were very polite and helpful. The blinds let in the light in all around the edges.. Was woken at 5am and found it difficult to fall asleep again.
The continental breakfast provided was ok and the fresh fruit salad was lovely. However, would have liked some freshly baked croissants and hard-boiled eggs but appreciate the cooking facilities may not be available.
- Csaba (7/5): - Lage Bett zu schmal, Dusche, Frühstück, Fenster
- Alexandra (5/5): Served a purpose for a one night stop over with early start. Would not return - The family room had a double and two singles. So many just have two doubles. The unloved outdated decor and finishes. The signs begin at the front door where there is no handle to close it and chunks of paint off the woodwork. It didn’t improve inside. The bathroom was fitted about 30 years ago, the door/lock and wall fan are even older and the mattresses were the cheapest of the cheap.
- Fiona (8/5): A good option for an overnight - It was a simple room in a guesthouse that once upon of time would have been quiet grand. Now it’s is a little shabby. The guest house is situated in a very pretty street and is close to the beach, restaurants and bars. Breakfast was good. It is good spot to stay on route to France. The furniture in our room feels like a student room. There was too much dated furniture in the room making it feel very cramped.
