Guest Reviews
- scott (10/5): - Fantastic accommodation and perfect base for my 4 night trip for Loch Ness Marathon. Just 5 mins from Tesco and the bus into town, would definitely stay again when i come back to Inverness
- Conner (10/5): - Clean room, friendly and well communicated staff, perfect quiet night before Loch Ness marathon. Would book again
- Liz (10/5): - The Housekeeper was excellent and was always cleaning and making sure that you had everything you needed. She is certainly a little gem!
Unfortunately it was room only with having to share the bathroom and kitchen
- Hatef (10/5): - Good clean and well stocked
- Rachel (8/5): - The rooms were very clean and had fresh linens and towels. The housekeeper had set out cold water for us. One of the rooms was large with two French doors, the other was quite small with only a skylight. They both had walk- in closets. The tvs were both very old. The beds were very good.
The only common space was a very small kitchen, which also doubled as the laundry room. We had to wait to use the space. We were given a shelf in the fridge. There were sufficient guest dishes but most of the space was dedicated to permanent residents which made us feel like intruders.
There is a grocery store nearby.
This is fine as a stopover, but because there is no living room, we felt confined to our bedroom.
There are 2 full washrooms for 6 guest rooms. There was also one powder room, but we were asked not to use this. There was some waiting for the washroom.
In all, it was a comfortable stay and good value.
- Erinne (6/5): - This was a decent place for a few nights. My room was nice and clean when I arrived and the house keeper was very kind and welcoming when I arrived. It would have been nice for the shared spaces to have been cleaned more frequently. I don’t think the garbage in the shared bathroom was taken out in the 4 days that I was there and not all of the other guests are very good at cleaning up after themselves in the kitchen. I also had some trouble receiving the code for the doors. They aren’t quick to respond to email, so you’re better off calling if you have an issue.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place, great price, great location - We had a great stay! Merche and the owner we're great! It had just what we needed. Basic but perfect accommodations for people like us that were out exploring 90% of our stay and just wanted a good shower, clean room and comfy bed to sleep in.
- baris (10/5): - This is a cute spot in a suburban environemnt.
- Scott (4/5): - The room wasn’t ready at 8:30 P,M. with a 4 PM check in. The kitch area was flithy. The bathroom was grubby. It made the whole stay feel dirty.
- Francis (6/5): - When you look at the pictures, you think you will sleep in a queen/double bed with a vast room. I ended up in 6m squared room with a sofa/bed.
- Zachary (6/5): - Great spot for
- Verified traveler (2/5): Decent location only positive - Decent location was the only positive. Accommodation was filthy and sheets had obviously not been cleaned from previous stay (hairs etc in sheets). Spent 1st night itching from (I presume) bedbugs before booking somewhere else. Shared bathroom was covered in mould.
- Gloria (4/5): - It was a clean room with comfortable bed. Did not like that it was on a third floor walk up with a small, poorly maintained, shared bathroom.
- Alberto (10/5): Muy buen sitio, especialmente limpio y silencioso.
- Aron (10/5): - Really enjoyed my stay. Room spacious and clean, fresh bedsheets and towels. There are several bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens per building, so does feel a bit like student accommodation (which I liked). The Spanish lady is amazing and needs a promotion! NOTE that I didn't receive a code from Expedia before arrival so said Spanish lady let me in. Internet password is on router in hallway.
- Penny (10/5): - The lady from Spain was the best!! Very helpful.
- Paul (6/5): NC500 start - When you are told you are in room 3 and have to search the house for a room 3. How difficult is it to put a number on a door! Had to try out door code to find the magic door that opened.
Very noisy house with laminate flooring everywhere. Shared bathroom in need of refurb.
However room was comfortable and adequate.
- Petronela (6/5): - Our stay was ok, good value for the amount paid. Only thing unexpected was that some rooms in the house are rented and people live there 24/7 therefore we saw a lot of personal items spread all along the hallways, stairway needed some vacuuming. Wifi and TV available in the room. Friendly host.
- Andrew (2/5): - The property has very limited parking nearby and is next to a busy, loud road. The property also has very creaky floorboards and is poorly sound insulated inside meaning you can hear every press of the microwave downstairs in the middle of the night!
I booked 2 nights and left after 1 choosing to pay to stay somewhere else!
- Yarno (8/5): - -
- Eduardo (10/5): - Really warm environment and excellent service. They helped us with the checkin and some problems resolutions.
- Gay (6/5): Interesting set up - Bit of a strange set up , the house keeper was very friendly. the stairs needed hoovering and there was laundry drying . We were up very early and had to be mindful of others as the laminate flooring was very creaky. Had to park our car in the church car park which was just below the place and not outside the property. Very central and reasonably priced.
- Christiane (10/5): - Thank you for the friendly lady in charge!
- nathalie (8/5): - superbe chambre
- valerie (6/5): Juste convenable - Confort spartiate. Etat des parties communes négligées. Salle de bain vetuste. Superficie de la chambre très bien
- Loïc (8/5): - Nothing to declare.
- David (8/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful. The amenities were excellent.
- Iona (10/5): Lovely stay - After reading some reviews wasn’t sure what to expect but we were really happy with room. Large room - very clean. Was a very hot day but windows had been left open and room Was cool on arrival. Had a really comfy stay. Special mention to the housekeeper who was very helpful and friendly.
Only small negatives - extra pillows in room would be good. My hubby uses 2 but only 1 available. Plus cups and kettle are available but no tea and coffee provided.
- Debora (10/5): More than pleasant - I read some worrying stuff about the room, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the people who left those reviews were most likely just being silly.
The place is very well located, close to Tesco, McDonald's, Costa Cafe and a bus stop to the city centre. The room was quite nice and had a beautiful view and breeze coming in, the kitchen was awesome with lots of appliances and we could even do our laundry.
Would definitely recommend and go back, the price was fair and we had a lovely stay.
- Nora (4/5): Horrible manager - I arrived to the location late at night and only then was told I would be staying somewhere else. The customer service from the manager was despicable and rude. When I arrived at the new location it was 11pm at night and my room was still not ready. I had to wait to be placed in one room only to be moved again the next day. I stayed in Drumdevan Country House which was actually quite nicely put together, just a shame the manager was horrible and the wifi barely existed.
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
Bedroom: Upon arrival in your room on January 1st, windows completely open, heaters turned off, room with a lot of dust, dirty coffee spoons with expired milk. Television with remote control without batteries, and with programs that you couldn't watch(most of them). Be careful when me and my girlfriend left the room, we started scratching the whole body so as to test and find out that it was the bed mites. Really bad experience.
- fiona (8/5): - Place is very basic but good value for money
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Arrived and followed the self book in sequence called to ask for the 2 rooms I had paid for and told me I had only one room booked so after a half an hour phone call with the person who I was on the phone with he was rather rude to begin with not willing to help at all saying it wasn’t his problem but after a small heated debate he decides to give me another room to then get told that the door doesn’t lock cause there was no key room was clean bed was comfortable worth the price only other complaint is if your looking for a quiet night you won’t get it there as other people staying in flat/appartment came in early screaming and shouting banging about then they must of got up early and again started banging about slamming doors wouldn’t stay again buy cheap get cheap
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was good. Easy to access and could come and go.
- Mohammad (2/5): Dirty bedsheets - The bedsheet was dirty and dovet cover was not iron too much old look like very dirty. Heating was not automatically on. I had to call the person to sort out. Sharing toilet was too much sounds come into the bedroom.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel room was clean and tidy. Very dated requires modernising,
- Gillian (2/5): VERY disappointed! A total dump! - Room was the awful. Dirty, holes in the walls, stains and scratched everywhere. No carpet in the cupboard, bare floor board that look like some had probably wee’d in it thinking it was the bathroom. Shared bathroom was grubby. Mould, dirt and paint peeling off the walls. No hand soap or sufficient loo roll. The bed sheets were dirty, worn and crushed. We were provided with 1 towel between 2. Towels were tatty, hard and barely fitted around an average size body.
Shocked at the presentation as it was nothing like the pictures online. We wiped our feet on the way out.
I emailed Sev the owner about all of the above and requested a refund by he hasn’t replied. We will never be back and for those thinking about booking. DON’T. I’ve stayed in better and cheapercheaper hostels.
- Derek (2/5): Worst experience ever - Shame on Hotels.com for promoting this place.
- Eddie (2/5): Not worthy of being on hotels.com. Hostel at best. - Our group of four had stayed two nights in two doubles at the start of our recent NC500 road trip, though one room would be an insult to call even call it a single (the other wasn’t much better). Both rooms looked in need of redecorating.
The bedding did not look clean and we resorted to sleeping in our own sleeping bags. Super super thin walls. The shared bathrooms were not that clean either. Rank. The kitchen was OK though.
The best thing about this place was closing the front door and never coming back. It was so bad that we cancelled another booking at the end of our trip and booked into a real hotel for not much more money – which turned out to be ‘palatial’ in comparison.
If you are accustomed to staying in hostels or sleeping rough, then fine. For those who stay in real hotels – AVOID. This place makes Travelodge seem heavenly.
- Bob (8/5): Perfect for a stop over - This room was perfectly adequate for a stop over after a long journey. Room as paper thin walls and we could hear other guests chatting. Clean room. Will come back again.
- Jake (2/5): Not recommend, very poor. - Highly disappointing, very tired and poor, poor quality, bed, mattress with bedding well past its best, not that it was of any quality to start with, pillows were flat, with no support and had a bad odour about them. The shared bathroom was not very pleasant at all, decoration was bland, with sings of mould and peeling paint. Appreciate it’s was relatively low cost, but appearance and cleanliness are primary consideration to your guests.
- Michael (6/5): share and share alike - This was a different experience for me sharing a bathroom & kitchen. It was akin to being a student.
Some aspects were great, the kitchen was well equipped & the price. But it depends a lot on the people you share with.
I stayed for a relatively long time, and most nights were fine. One was a little awkward as housemates were clearly drunk.
The facilities were tired, the sheets were approaching the end of their life.
My room was superficially clean, but was dusty under the bed. I found a vacuum & did it myself...
It was noisy and often inconsiderate, partly because insulation was poor. My room was under the kitchen.
On the positive I met and talked with different people...this was good.
The water was always hot & there was a washer & drier. Very useful.
A little spending would make the place better... There were no chairs except in the kitchen. An easy chair in the room would raise comfort a lot.
My room was not entered by the maid, at all during my stay. So the waste basket was emptied by me. I changed my own bedding & towels, but I’m proactive!
I would probably stay again, but for less time.
However, for the price it’s hard to fault.
Bagno in comune sufficientemente pulito.
- hereforwork (4/5): didn't get a wink of sleep - people coming and going at all hours of the night with the coded door entry beeping away. floors creaking loudly whenever anyone moved, doors slamming, waking you up during the night if you were lucky enough to be asleep at the time. you can hear other residents talking, snoring and much more.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic room with shared facilities - The room was fine - basic but clean, as was the shared bathroom. The blinds are not block-out and there are street lights outside so bring an eye-mask.
There is no breakfast included nor any coffee shops close-by that we could find, but there is a kitchen if bring your own food.
It was a bit far from the centre - it's ok if you have a car.
- Michaela (6/5): - Not a B&B or hotel. Not city rooms. A suburban house with 5 guest rooms. Very basic furnishings, needs a better chair, a desk, and chest of drawers. Rooms not cleaned daily. Bed was comfortable. Heat off as landlords chose it to be off. Plenty of bath, toilet and shower space but all shared, not ensuite. Up side was use of fridge and kitchen so kept food costs down. Huge 24 hour grocery store nearby. Live like a local and save a bit of money. Must have a car - quite a drive to Inverness.
- Craig (6/5): - Very basic accommodation , black mould around bath taps and tiles .
Had to phone reception to find out where I could get towels?
- ABN (8/5): - Bargain price for a room in a shared house. Nice communal kitchen with lots of scope to do your own catering.
Shared bathroom, with old door blocked off with a piece of plywood, which did not disturb us during the night.
Blinds rather than curtains let in a bit too much light but blindfold took care of that.
Nice old fashioned sweets treat with tea and coffee in room.
- Noela (2/5): Hostel living - Our room was nice but beware this is a hostel with the usual shared bathrooms and kitchen with stacked fridges and dirty dishes. Evidently its a good long stay for workers. A little hard to find as its a house in a terrace block in suburbia .
- Steve (8/5): - Self check-in was confusing until I was able to open door and find key, then it made sense. Room & shared bathroom were clean. Free WiFi was too slow for watching streamed movies. Overall a very good value for the money.
