- Han Seng (3/5): The air-conditioning was a disaster on level 4. - The room was clean . The hotel was clean .There is a large private car park in front of the hotel. The facilities are quite basic with bottle water and kettle . The Duty Manager offered us a complimentary breakfast unexpectedly. We appreciate that we had nasi lemak (coconut marinated rice with chillli fish fries sauce) ,and a orange drink . Beware the breakfast is served cold with hot tea or coffee . The Room 404 was really badly constructed by idiots. The glass door open with the washbasin right behind it. It caused a loud bang in collision when the glass door is opened. The loud bang by the adjacent room is startling in the middle of the night and early morning. Worse the old air-conditioner blows right at the second bed and the air-conditioning blower and swing cannot be adjusted. It was terrible with the draught all night. The blanket is too short for us 5ft.3 inch. The blankets were worn out and the towels were worn out, albeit clean. We were here every year 6 years at the about the same date. l

- Paul (1/5): Not worth to stay - The property is line of the decent hotel in kluang. 4th floor carpet is in bad condition, rainwater is leaking in the ceiling. Carpet is bad smell and condition. The washroom no proper locks.

- Nivashinee (2/5): Very disappointing stay - We booked a room with breakfast included, but were denied breakfast even after showing multiple proofs from Booking.com. The front desk staff, Syira, refused to acknowledge it despite the Booking.com representative confirming our booking details with her directly. We were also told that the staff in charge would only arrive at 1 p.m. which makes no sense, as we shouldn’t have to wait until then for a breakfast that was already included. On top of that, Syira was extremely rude and unhelpful throughout the interaction, showing no effort to resolve the issue and only insisting on denying responsibility. Very disappointing experience with the management and front desk service.

- (MARDI) (1/5): Overall, while the hotel could still be acceptable, it really needs higher standards of maintenance - The lift may look very old-fashioned, but it still works perfectly well. I also really enjoyed the pictures displayed on the walls — they are beautiful and add a nice touch to the atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful, which made my stay more pleasant despite some of the hotel’s shortcomings. Merdeka Hotel, Kluang, is clearly an older hotel, and it really shows in the condition of its facilities. The carpet outside the room was dusty and smelly, and it should be replaced with a new one. The towels provided didn’t feel fresh either, which gave the impression that they’ve been reused for too long. At first, I was given a room without windows — it felt very closed-in, and I could hardly breathe. Thankfully, the staff helped me move to another room with a window, which was much better as I could at least get some natural light and air. However, even in the new room, the curtains were extremely outdated and added to the “tired” feel of the place. There’s also no breakfast provided, which is disappointing compared to many other hotels in this price range.

Even though mine are already low, a few things prevented me from getting a good night’s sleep: 1. A strong smell of dust and humidity 2. Old and noisy indoor and outdoor air-conditioning units, regardless of speed or settings 3. No soundproofing 4. No light blocking Other inconveniences: 1. No wardrobe 2. The shower is basically in the room, separated only by a glass wall

The security person looking out for the cars in the middle of the night was friendly and helpful, he even brought me a chair and turn on the fan for me when I went out for a smoke at 3am in the morning. That made my day. Room was not smelling good, probably because the hotel is very very old. Water pressure is extremely low.

- Fahlawi (9/5): Good place for a short stay in Kluang town. - For the first time the actual room was better than the picture. Very spacious, comfortable and clean, with a great view of Gunung Lambak. Probably have been renovated recently. Good job! Just some minor things, like the security door lock needed repair, perhaps the TV could use some more watchable channels. And the lift which door only opens for 5 seconds, quite troublesome. Not sure if can do something about it or not, being an antique item of the hotel.
