- laetitia (8/5): Séjour agréable - La localisation, assez grand, propre Le bruit de l’extérieur la nuit
- JOSÉ (10/5): - Casa muito confortável e limpa. Bem localizada, perto de restaurantes, bares e transportes públicos. Algum ruido exterior ao inicio das noites
- Jette (8/5): Great - Nice location and clean apartment. Nice with bicycles to borrow. Great facility! The Electric kettle couldn’t turn off it self.

- MaxTambu85 (10/5): Great property (and host) in a central location - We had a terrific time at Nishihan. The property is centrally located at a walking distance from several attractions such as Nijio Castle e Nishiki Market, with the metro and bus station a few minutes away. The property was great. We particularly appreciated the welcoming kit (teas, coffees and biscuits), the few toys, origami and pencils for kids and the facilities, especially the combo of washing machine and dryer, which helped a lot travelling with kids. The host has been very helpful before and during our stay, letting us leave the luggage in the property after the check-out for two more hours. We'll definitely use this property again if/when travelling back to Kyoto.
- Indre (10/5): Superb - We were very happy with our accommodation. The location was very good, a lovely neighbourhood, close to everything. The place was very clean. Loved the free bicycles. Really enjoyed our stay. Kyoto is an amazing place.
- Tarik (9/5): Geweldig - Ruim ingericht met aparte keuken, woonkamer, slaapkamer, ontspanningsruimte en badkamer en toilet
- Megan Leong (9/5): Clean & Comfy Homestay at a Great Location - 1) Location - There is a train station just 5-mins walk from the homestay
2) Facilities & Amenities - Has everything you need for a short stay
3) Clean and cozy
4) Quiet at night with the occasional people talking when passing through the property
5) Easy check in process - Just collect the key from the password protected lockbox
6) Pretty spacious for 5 people
7) The beds are the highlight of this room. Super comfy and each comes with their own heater ! 1) The air conditioning/heating doesn’t circulate evenly throughout the room so it is a little bit cold at the living room/bathroom. Though the host did provide an additional portable heater to make up for it.
2) The stairs are very steep, might not be suitable for the elderly.

- Volker (10/5): This is the second time me and my family stayed with Nishihan. Everything is still perfect. Location is super, only 2mi - Everything Nothing
- Eric (9/5): -
- Radek (9/5): - All instructions for everything in the house were in English. Bicycles were small, but handy and ok even for tall people.
- Cécile (10/5): - Confortable, propre, très bien équipé et bien placé. Il manque des rideaux aux fenêtres de la grande chambre traditionnelle ! C'est vraiment dommage car tout le reste était parfait.
- Tamara (10/5): -
- Niels (10/5): Fantastic! - Fantastic stay at a perfect location. Very family friendly. -
- David (8/5): Very good - great location and good.facilities the Tatami room was above street and sleep was disturbed by people talking loudly in the early hours of the morning (3am) as well as occasional passing motorcycles. A dryer for clothes would be helpful as washed items could not be dried in the available time of stay (2 days). The stairs to the bedroom are quite steep and would be hazardous for older/less able guests.
- Vlatko (10/5): Traditional Japanese house , which will make your stay in Kyoto more authentic - Very clean apartment, there are instructions with answers for everything that you may ask. Whole house looks traditional Japanese, it is perfect for a stay in Kyoto Second remote control for the Airco was broken, but it is not a big deal
- Aleksandra (10/5): Fantastic location - I chose this property for two main reasons: its location and the fact that it had two bedrooms with a reasonable number of beds.
Before my arrival, the host sent several messages with crucial information, which was very helpful.
The location is fantastic—just a one-minute walk to a bus stop where multiple buses can take you to Kyoto Station in about 10 minutes. It’s also close to the Hankyu train line, which goes directly to Osaka Station (the express train takes around 45 minutes). Many of Kyoto’s main tourist attractions are even within walking distance—it’s about a 45-minute to 1-hour walk back from Gion.
The neighboring street is lively, with lots of small bars (izakayas), while the street where the property is located is very quiet. On the main street nearby, there are also various shops and convenience stores.
The property itself had plenty of helpful information and instructions, and most of the appliances had English labels, making them easy to use. It was well-equipped with most appliances you might need. While there wasn’t an iron listed, I asked the host in advance, and they kindly provided both an iron and an ironing board.
The bed was comfortable, and my friend chose to sleep on the futon, which they found equally satisfactory. Here are a few things that didn't affect my overall satisfaction with the property, but might be useful for others to know:
The property comes with only one key, so if you and your companion don't go out together, the person with the key will need to come back or be at the house to let the other person in.
Heating is provided through the AC unit.
There are quiet hours in place, so no talking on the patio after 9 PM.
Natural light is limited because the windows are frosted glass.
There were no issues with any unwanted spirits.
- Ding (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice location, easy accessed from subway station, and very convenient to go to any place by bus or taxi.
- Nimrod (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location in a quiet street in a central area. The apartment is equipped with everything you'll need (including bicycles!). As in many apartments in Japan, the stairs to the second floor are quite steep.
- Xun (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): Great place for a family of 4 - Great property in a good location. Front room needs a blind or curtains. Light comes in very early.
- Tagil (10/5): A great vacation in Kyoto - A lovely house in a wonderful location. Very clean, everything was well organized. The host really thought of everything one might need. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, and also walking around the area, that has a lot of restaurants and shops
Host is very responsive.
- Davy (10/5): Exceptional - The guest house is well located, at least for everything we've planned in Kyoto, nearly at the center of it all. Bus lines and subway nearby, same for supermarkets, konbinis and restaurants, in a calm area.
Inside, everything is provided, neat and clean, well organized.
Easy to talk with the staff through Whatsapp for any question we had.
We slept in the tatami bedroom and it was comfortable.
Trash bins in good amount (although we were pretty heavy in that area, so sorry).
All in all, a great experience in that house. For those who want to know, the house is not sound-proofed, so you'll hear noise at night from the tatami room, we can confirm (even though it didn't really bother us, as tired as we were every day from our long sightseeing walks).
- Xiaodan (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and convenient. Everything needed are equipped The door lock not easy to use.
- James (10/5): Modern and convenient accommodation in Omiya/ Shijo, Kyoto area - Great location, only a 2-minute walk from Hankyu Omiya Station for trains or to bus stops for local routes around the town.
The home is modern and clean, and was more than ample for our family of 4 (kids 4 and 16 months).
There is a Fresco 24-hour supermarket, Family Mart convenience store, drink vending machines (as per usual in Japan), etc within seconds and minutes of Nishihan.
The washing machine and drying rack was very useful, and we used the small alfresco area to dry the clothes on said rack.
Neighbourhood has many different restaurants to choose from, or you could use the kitchen at Nishihan if you were feeling adventurous (we were not). Baby gates being available for the steep stair case would be advantageous
- Jessica (10/5): Fantastic accommodation for a family - Beautiful Japanese home fitted out with everything to make for a comfortable stay. It was great to have the use of the bikes to explore Kyoto. Great location too, highly recommended!
- Alexandru (10/5): Kyoto was wonderful and staying at Nishihan definitely was part of why it was so. - The communication with the hosts went smoothly and all the provided instructions were very clear. I would like to also highlight the fact that the hosts provided bicycles for us during our stay. We spent one of our days in Kyoto cycling through the city instead of using public transport and it was definitely worth it.
- Hongyue (9/5): Very comfortable. Feel like home - Close to commercial areas but very quiet and clean. Love the tatami style bedroom. There is no bathroom upstairs near bedrooms
- Tju (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean house and very good location Kitchen. Bed.
- Christine (9/5): Exceptional! - The house was very spacious and made a nice change from staying in hotels. It was easy to check in and the place had everything we needed and more! Large bathroom and a nice kitchen area. The upstairs tatami room was amazing and we loved chilling up there. There was also a heated blanket on the single beds. Everything was very nice and the staff was extremely communicative, would definitely recommend. Because it was next to the road, it could be a bit loud. It was hard sleeping in the tatami room because of the noise, but we slept easily in the western bedroom.
- Ngoc (9/5): Definitely would come back if I had the chance - The location was a bit far from Gion Street and other tourist locations, but it is easy to catch a bus or go to the train station. The house is very cozy, and suitable for a small family. Not thing.
- Vivien (10/5): A pleasure to stay in this property to enjoy what Kyoto has to offer! - The property is well equipped and comfortable. Bathroom is excellent. Sitting room a little bit tight for 5 people. We just rest in bedroom or the dining room. The bedding and comforter are good. Good location with different bus stops around and one subway station nearby. Great value for our stay. Nothing bad about the property. May add a bench in the living room or near the door for casual seating.
- Tabitha (6/5): There are better options in Kyoto - Having a Nintendo Switch to occupy the kids was great - but actually only one controller would connect to the TV. The bikes were also good - but actually they're too small for adults to use and too big for little kids so we ended up having to hire three of our own! It was great to have a house to ourselves and we loved the Japanese style shower and bath. The vibe of this place is off. There are no windows that you can see out of. The fridge hums really loudly, the air conditioning makes a ticking noise all night, the kitchen was cramped, the loungeroom has a bizarre layout where the couch faces the door, not the TV... All in all, we were expecting a cosy, local home and we got an uncomfortable, impersonal Air BnB.
- Caitlin (10/5): Quaint townhouse in a great location - Gorgeous townhouse on a quiet street in Kyoto. The subway station is just up the road, and the house is within walking distance to the Nishiki market and Pontocho alley. The bikes are included with the rental and we had so much fun biking along the river and to Kinkaku-ji temple.
- Jayne (10/5): Excellent - Loved this. Was awesome for a family, and good for my toddler with the floor bed!
Close to all the good stuff and heaps to do nearby. Wish we stayed longer. The floor bed room had a bit of a musty smell, but we just opened up the windows and it was much better
- Volker (10/5): Highly recommend - It’s a cozy house fully equipped, nice and clean. We cooked a lot during the stay. The location is super convenient to subway, restaurants and groceries. The staff are nice and communication is easy.
- Akane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benjamin (8/5): Very good -
- Jusuf (9/5): Superb -
- Bogdan (10/5): Fantastic stay at Nishihan! - Place was clean, well stocked and communication was great. Neighbourhood was within many tourist attractions- we loved exploring Kyoto on bikes, but walking or taking the bus/metro is an easy option from Nishihan. Do not leave this place without a visit to the local meat/grocery shop just around the corner. We should have stayed longer in Kyoto- so much to explore! Nishihan- we will be back. :)
- Anne (9/5): Perfect for a group of 5 - The place was great. I loved the interior fitting and the location is good. The perfect place for a group of 5, staying for 3 days + in Kyoto. There is enough bicycle for everyone and you could enjoy fully the city. The kitchen is great and well-equipped. The terrace looks perfect for summer nights or breakfast outside. A bit pricey for 3 people, and even more if you come by car. There is a parking nearby which is very helpful, but the price will add up to the hotel's fee which can make you think twice about booking there. It was a last-minute booking during Sakura, so it was ok for this time, but I am not sure I would pay this price under other circumstances.
- Trung (10/5): Excellent - I really alove the house, all facilities are good and usefull, great location. The staffs are very friendly and did support me well.
High recommendation for your family when traveling in Kyoto.
- Karolina (10/5): Exceptional - Lovy place in the area full of restaurants. Small but very nice bikes to ride for both kids and adults.
- Kartika (10/5): Best accomodation! - Really worth! We just bring our body+clothes. Thank you for providing kitchenette (even oil and salt are provided!), laundry equipment (even the detergent), body soaps , shampoo, bathtub, fluffy comfortable beds, sofa, game board, nintendo. We can even enjoy Kyoto on bike! Location are also very close to the Nijo Castle. Perfect !10/10 for family/friends gathering! The tatami in the 1st floor make me feel anxious. I am worried i might spill something or make it dirty especially after from the outside.
- Soo (8/5): Very good - Clean When the night outside a bit noisy
- Frieden (10/5): simply fun - The apartment is clean beautiful with a mix of Japanese and western style. Very comfortable. The stairs may be difficult to climb for some people
- David (9/5): Superb - Excellent location, close to the subway (Omiya) while situated in a quiet urban street. The property was clean and well maintained and had everything we needed foe a comfortable stay close to everything .
- Sieu (10/5): Exceptional - Property was super clean and comfortable. Property was cozy, would stay again. Responsive host. The stairs were a bit slippery. Easy to slip
- Yuri (10/5): Wonderful place to stay and would highly recommend it! Thank you for a great experience in Kyoto :) - The house was very clean and equipped well with almost everything we needed, including a vacuum, bikes, washing machine and drying rack, and a fully equipped kitchen (stove, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, rice cooker, pots and pans, even plastic wrap and tin foil and salt and pepper). The bikes were an amazing addition, and I went biking along Kamo River one day, which was a highlight of the trip.
The tatami room on the second floor was beautiful and cozy, and there were many futon sets stored there. It was really nice to have the option to sleep on a futon or a western style bed in the other room as desired. There were also helpful printed and laminated instruction booklets for how to use various equipment in the house, as well as guides to local attractions. Wifi was strong and we had no issues during our stay.
There was no formal check in or check out process upon arrival other than taking/returning the key to the lock box on the front door.
The location of the house was extremely convenient--it's between 2 or 3 bus stops that are about 3 minutes walk or less, and the buses can take you to Kyoto station or anywhere else you need to go. It's also about a 15-20 minute walk to Nishiki Market, and since it was so close by, we frequented Nishiki Market multiple times during our stay. There's even a small local grocery store literally one street over.
I would highly highly recommend Nishihan to anyone looking to stay a bit longer in Kyoto or just looking for comfortable and well-equipped Air BnB style housing. Would stay here again in the future! Not much to complain about! It would have been convenient to have some cooking oil or soy sauce to cook with, since we just needed a little bit and only found quantities that we couldn't finish at grocery stores. Just a minor inconvenience though! Another thing is that the front door area is separated from the living room with only a sliding door (open airflow on top), so it's not insulated well and gets a little drafty/cold at night, especially in the middle of winter when we were there. We just turned up the heat in the living room or went upstairs though, which was always warm and cozy. Overall, no major complaints and we were very happy during our week there!
- Benjamin (10/5): 10 out of 10; would stay again. - The holiday home was great. Exceptionally clean, great location (nice neighbourhood and easy public transport options), comfortable space for a family of three, easy checkin/checkout, great facilities, etc. Bikes were a bonus! Nothing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): 交通方便 - 環境乾淨舒適,地點良好交通非常方便,離公車站及地點站步行約3-5分鐘即可到達,附近還有24小時超市可採買
