Guest Reviews
- 31TP (10/5): A Wonderful Stay! - Charoku Honkan was a wonderful stay. The building is very authentic (hundreds of years old) with lots of wood and tatami. The Japanese style rooms are very beautiful and comfortable and the baths are clean. The multi-course dinner and breakfast we had were delicious, filling, and varied.
We visited in a rental car and parking was free - just across the street. The family was very sweet and helpful in providing tips for our day of sight seeing - recommending Ine and the Kyogamisaki Lighthouse in addition to Amanohashidate. We even saw wild monkeys on our drive! Thank you- we would love to return again some day!
- Wendy (8/5): Miyazu is a lovely town - It’s a great base for visiting Amanohashidate. We enjoyed our stay here.
- Verified traveler (4/5):
- Roger_S6502014 (10/5): Beautiful Atmospheric Ryokan - This is what a ryokan should be. Dark wood, clean tatami rooms, delicious and well-presented food and an onsen bath with good atmosphere. The staff were also welcoming.
I could feel the 300 years of history that this location has as an inn. Once merchants stayed here, and you could feel a bit of that history in this neighborhood.
My only complaint is that the futon was on the harder side which isn't great for side sleepers.
The location is also in a walkable neighborhood with some old homes and there is a bus nearby to take you to Amanohashidate. There are even rental cycles if you wanted to just travel up the coast that way (it's really not far- 30 min. walk or so). The JR station is about a 12 min. walk away.
- 339cyrilg (10/5): Great ! - It was great. The staff is very very nice and helpful. We ve got a bathroom in our room. The breakfast was delicious. The hotel is closed to the bus station and to a commercial center. The owner gave us a present at the end of our stay. Everything was perfect.
- danichiban (10/5): A highlight of our trip - Charoku Honkan and the Chadani Family were fabulous. The building is absolutely charming and the family looked after us so well that we felt like we were part of their family, we felt said to leave. I would return every time I visit the area.
Their food was superb and beautifully presented. I am a huge fan of sushi and sashimi but my parents are a little more conservative so Mamasan went to extra lengths to buy beautiful beef for a delicious meal of sukiyaki, absolutely wonderful. I'm afraid we made the ryokan smell of grilled beef for the other guests! Sorry about that!
Their own hot spring bath rooms were lovely and clean, I felt so relaxed after a day of sightseeing at Amanohashidate.
This was a wonderful experience for my family. Arigatiou gozaimashita Chadanisan. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.
