Guest Reviews
- Annette (7/5): Outdated - Sajeev was incredible friendly and helpful The staff were very kind and welcoming, but unfortunately the property felt outdated and musty in parts, with maintenance lacking in several areas. Considering the price point, we expected a much higher standard overall.
- Giulia (10/5): -
- Thimaq (9/5): -
- Doucet (10/5): -
- Hadraba (9/5): - The staff was very attentive and pleasant. They were always helpful in everything. Sajeev took care of us and I would like to thank him in return for the great service. There could be a swimming pool in the area, for example. It's a shame you can't look into the lake.
- Victoria (10/5): - The food was incredible and the staff very friendly and helpful. Great views a wonderful stay overall Steep hills but they will arrange Tuktuk’s for you
- Jana (10/5): Super Resort, Tolle Lage, Fantastisches Essen - Wir hatten 3 tolle Tage.
- Dmitrii (10/5): -
- Mikhail (9/5): Serenity in its pure form - The location is simply fantastic. The view on the lake and misty hills is breathtaking at any time during the day. The territory offers beautiful paths to walk surrounded with tea plantations and views to the lake. Great restaurant. Personal butler service available in minutes.
Standalone chalets are spacious and very private.
The entire place radiates serenity. The bathroom had a bit of odors.

Kajak is leuke ervaring.
- Clayton (10/5): Would recommend - There is a gorgeous walk on the property, and the room has a breath taking view of the lake. The staff were fantastic-we had a butler who was amazing- and the property is very peaceful and quiet.
- Darshika (9/5): Superb - The location was superb. Our butler Nadeera was very attentive and accommodating.
We did kayaking, which added more value to our stay.
- Oliver (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karma (9/5): Truly relaxing experience, absolutely beautiful - Truly relaxing experience, absolutely beautiful. Lovely staff. Big spacious rooms, comfy beds. The food was really great, (breakfast, prawn and crab curries were so good!) so was the kayaking and cups of tea ! No alcohol - didn’t realise this at time of booking. Not a big deal for a few days but didn’t realise when booking
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional - The Farm Resorts is an amazing place. We booked here as part of our Honeymoon. We stayed here for two nights and it was idyllic. Our private bungalow was right on the lakeside with serene views.
This is the perfect place to unwind and relax, nestled among acres of tea plantations it is nothing short of amazing.
We kayaked on the lake, learned how to pick tea, visited a nearby waterfall and enjoyed delicious food. This resort is exactly like the photos!
Ravi, our private butler, was an absolute gentleman. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a fabulous stay.
- Jon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dianne (10/5): Excellent levels of service in idyllic location - Accommodation in the high country tea plantations is strictly limited by the government and most of what we could see appeared to be similar to the Farm Resort and based on working or former plantations.
The Resort only had a handful of rooms and ours had a fantastic view over the lake.
we were assigned our own butler - Piyal - on arrival who could not do enough for us arranging a tour of a tea plantation for us and taking us on a tuk tuk tour around the reservoir as well as serving us our breakfast and dinner on our balcony.
The location is idyllic and the service is great as was the food. Complete relaxation guaranteed. The bathroom was perhaps a little dated. But the shower was large and efficient - and the charm of the Farm Resort far out ways this.
- Vasilii (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location, perfect service
- Moonsamy (9/5): Piyal is exceptional - Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)
Our stay at The Farm Resorts was nothing short of exceptional. The picturesque and tranquil setting alone makes it a dream destination, but what truly set it apart was the outstanding service—particularly from Piyel. He was the most attentive butler we’ve ever had, going above and beyond to make our stay special. His warmth, genuine care, and attentiveness, especially in engaging with our baby, made us feel truly at home. Piyel didn’t just provide service; he created memories. He now feels like family, and we will never forget him. This was a stay we’ll cherish forever. The English breakfast could be improved
- Buddhika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Teresa (10/5): Serenity, beautiful vistas and wonderful service - There is a serenity about this place that we loved. It overlooks the lake and is surrounded by beautiful tea plantations. The positioning of the rooms across the estate means that each room is placed in a world of its own. We were so well looked after by the member of staff who was allocated to us. He suggested that we went on an early morning kayak over the lake, which was quite magical. We were served a most delicious dinner and breakfast, and the individual locations of the tables are gorgeous - spaced out on a lawn, on a prominently overlooking the lake on three sides. We loved the calm of the place and it was a perfect resting point along our journey on the Pekoe Trail walk.
- Rafhanah (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tatiana (5/5): Dinner service time/ chef to be improved - Room, territory and location are great
Lunch ordered to room was tasty
Painting canvas with an easel on a balcony is experience our daughter truly enjoyed Second time visiting, no more complimentary drinks and snacks
Serving time at evening dinner remains horrible, after 50min waiting for “hotel Signature Sicilian platter with mushrooms and tomatoes” I got beef with carrots and after asking where are mushrooms and tomatoes, they brought them separately as in photo.
As service at restaurant remains weakest part and did not improve since previous stay, I consider it is fair to rate my stay as per restaurant experience
- Shah (10/5): Great place for relaxing - - Location
- Great place to shut down and relax especially after we did the Adam’s Peak Hike
- Service and friendliness - Bikes were old and need to be upgraded/serviced but they did not charge us for using them which was good
- Gaurav (1/5): Bad experience - Food was horrible they charged for stuff we don’t even eat the. The manager was rude I won’t let you leave the resort unless u pay Servise room had run shade notice of rains was all night
- Lily (8/5): Great location but not a 4 star hotel - Great location, beautiful views of the lake The rooms are outdated and there were too many bugs
- Ali (10/5): Exceptional - We had a lovely stay at the Farm Resorts, the view was exceptional, felt like heaven,
the hotel staff were very friendly and our butler (Mr. Nadeera) made our stay very comfortable
the food at the restaurant was delicious especially the Sri Lankan cuisine
The hotel offers great activities and an amazing walking path around the tea farm.
- Lara (9/5): Would highly recommend - Fantastic scenic location right on the lake, spacious bungalow, incredible quality of service, and delicious food. The tea plantation tour was absolutely incredible, and our fantastic bulter Ravi helped us with every need, including a unique experience to the waterfalls.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Blevins (10/5): Heavenly and relaxing - The view, the service, and everything else. Piyal, our butler, was simply extraordinary. He attended to our every whim. He was very warm natured and welcoming. Not a lot of places to eat from in the area, but the resort food was really good.
- Muhammed (9/5): Superb - Location Nothing
- Agathe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rohit (9/5): Superb -
- Shireen (9/5): Superb - Lake view, quiet, food and butler service
- Sivarajan (8/5): Very good -
- Indeewaree (10/5): A little slice of paradise on earth - serenity and calmness! - Stunning property — there are 6 chalets and 1 family bungalow nestled among a 22-acre tea plantation, a walking path, lots of flowers and trees and right by the Castlereigh Reservoir. My elderly parents and I had a very comfortable 2-night stay in the family bungalow. The staff are friendly! We had several meals on-site during our stay; breakfast and lunch served outdoors with incredible views and dinner served in a cozy dining room. My fave was kayaking on Castlereigh Reservoir — extremely serene and peaceful! Absolutely nothing to complain about, everything was wonderful!
- Przemysław (7/5): Good - Amazing location by the lake Staff was a bit pushy and we had a lot of problems with communication, as our butler spoke very little English.
- Louisa (10/5): Peaceful and stunning. We shut off from the world here. - The views are spectacular and the staff are so kind, efficient and attentive. Raj in particular was excellent! We loved how quiet it was here and the food was also very good. It is not a 5 star hotel but if you’re looking for clean, comfortable, private and personal then this is the place. Nothing - we loved everything.
- Sam (8/5): The perfect escape to relax and unwind. - By far, the best feature of the property were the views from the chalets. We had the good fortune of staying in Chalet 6, which I believe was the quietest and had THE BEST VIEW. The changing sunlight throughout the day provided a constantly evolving backdrop for relaxing on our generous blacony.
Food met our expectations with a good variety of local and western options. The included breakfasts were generous and really delicious - esp the Sri Lankan options (ALWAYS opt for the Sri Lankan breakfast)
The weather was great which allowed us to take out meals outdoors or indoors. The outdoors views, were again, amazing.
Our butler, Yoga, was attentive and eager to ensure our comfort. The entire staff was helpful and friendly. Small things could be easily improves such as reading lights for both sides of the bed.
Important to highlight that alcohol was not on the menu - however, our butler was able to send someone to town (we visited during the Poya holiday in which alcohol was not available).
For the price and as a destination holiday, we would have hoped that some of the activities on the property would have been included in the rate (kayaks & bikes).
- Nethmini (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mara (10/5): Such a scenic place! - Together with a groups of friends, we‘ve shared the Family Chalet and absolutely loved it. The scenery is incredible and the resort feels really calming. We’ve very much enjoyed eating at the restaurant and having breakfast outside with an amazing view! The service and staff have been great and we‘re already planning our next stay at The Farm Resorts.
- Wirtz (8/5): Nice Place in the calm between Tea fields - Really beautiful hotel with excellent service and an amazing view. The view from the balcony was the absolute highlight of the stay. The calm and beauty of the tea plantation was great. We had a private butler who did an amazing job. The food was excellent, especially the dinner. There a not much activities to do around, we did kayak which was nice. The bed was really comfortable. The manager was kind and explained a lot about the resort and the tea plugging in the resort, very interesting. The wifi did not work a lot of the time.
I think the price was way to high for the value, great hotel but too pricey.
- Shamailah (10/5): Exceptional - As serene and picturesque as the pictures. Beautiful beautiful place. Razu’s service was great.
- Alexandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bhavana (10/5): Exceptional - Great location. Friendly staff. Rooms are in between tea gardens. Staff is punctual. Food is great. Overall great experience!
- Khuloud (10/5): Amazing location - Amazing location. Loved the area. It's green and quiet. Far from city. Food is good and excellent staff. Good value of money
- David (10/5): Stunning views and a beautiful guest house - Beautiful views, comfortable and well designed interior, views of the lake were breathtaking, worth every penny. Staff are friendly, kind and super helpful. The views of the surrounding area are also stunning.
- Christopher (10/5): Amazing stay. - Amazing service, friendly staff, food that was unexpectedly amazing. I will 💯 repeat stay every chance I get.
- Salwa (9/5): great stay - very clean, friendly staff, nice view directly on the lake, good breakfast with pancakes, location between Kitulgala and Nuwara Eliya so you can go for Kitulgala and come back same day. very limited food options
- Roland (10/5): Exceptional - Totally friendly service, young and dedicated staff, Justin did a great job, he is so friendly and accommodating, everything perfect Nothing
- Ro (6/5): Ok overnight stay on our way to hike Adam's Peak - We stayed here for one night on our way to hike Adam's Peak, so we only really spent an evening here (having to get up at 2 am) and the next morning here (after the hike). The room was clean and comfortable, though not particularly spacious. Dinner and breakfast were fine. We thought the service was exceptionally good. The property felt tired and outdated and it didn't seem like there was much to do in the area. We didn't think the area was particularly picturesque. There was a celebration happening nearby which meant we had to listen to ridiculously loud music during the night when we had very limited time to sleep. All in all, it was a convenient place for us to stop on the way to Adam's Peak, otherwise, we wouldn't have stayed here.
- Tomaso (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gianmarco (8/5): Nice but boring - The farm resort is nicely located in the middle of the tea plantation and you have a nice view on the reservoir from your room. Garden and rooms are nice, big clean and comfortable. There are not many activities to do around and the few are overpriced. The lake in front is not like in the picture but very dirty.
- Jessica (8/5): Beautiful setting overlooking the reservoir, very peaceful and restful but not a lot to do. - The staff (particularly Raju) we’re excellent and couldn’t do enough for us - the setting was also really lovely overlooking the reservoir. the reservoir was quite dirty with floating litter and trash all along the bank (not a reflection on Farm Resorts because it’s not only their fault). Besides for kayaking and bike hire the only other thing to do at the property is eat and sleep so it was a bit boring.
- Qi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carmel (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent stay, amazing staff :)
- Ilaria (8/5): nice stay but too expensive overall - location is great (if you come for the lake bear in mind that during dry season it looks completely different form the photos).
staff is super welcoming and kind.
very good food quality and broad choice.
kayaking was fun. sadly the price we paid isn’t proportional to the quality. we spent way less for other comparable places in the country. I think that to keep the current night rate, the place really need to invest in a more modern room decor and new furniture for the whole complex.
- Alban (9/5): peaceful place surrounded by a lake and tea plantation - excellent service and attention. Raju has been very helpful and great with the kids nothing
- Dante (7/5): A nice stay but not worth the price tag - This hotel has amazing potential. The setting is just incredible. The rooms have amazing views overlooking the beautiful lakes and the location is really good. It was just missing a few things that made it not an amazing stay. Overall the value for money just wasn't great. Compared to a lot of other hotels, we expected this one to be very special and it was just 'good' and was lacking a few things to make it really 'amazing'. The food was good but not great. The staff were really nice but let us down on a few elements (no one went above and beyond for us). And the decor was nice but a little bit 'tired'.
- Anastasia (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great! Amazing views and landscapes, beauty of the lake and tea fields, quietness and fresh air, excellent service. We had bungalow with lake view. It was very comfortable and cosy, every detail has been carefully thought out, including umbrellas and delicious tea and coffee. The meal was very good although not cheap. It’s one of the best hotels I have been to. A small minus is that the restaurant works for breakfast and then opens for dinner at 6.30 pm. Just keep it in mind.
- M. (10/5): Exceptional -
- Reem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rossana (1/5): Unhappy - We like the property location and reservoir kayaking was wonderful.staff service was excellent. We had booked for Deluxe Room but did not received it, instead we were given an office staff room saying its suite room which had no balcony or any facilities. In your website Deluxe Room has facilities of Balcony, mountains view ,reservoir view etc unfortunately we had been forced to stay at normal room even after we paid for Deluxe room. We had felt cheated all the way travelling from Dubai. We have been using booking.com for the last so many years .This is first time we had bitter experience like this .Please make sure Facilities showing in your website are available at that particular property or room since customers are rely on details shown in your website .They had charged us the same rate for Deluxe Room .Also communicating with this property is bit hard since they don't answer phone and no one to take responsibility. Fact is that they did not have any Deluxe Room available at the time of our booking and never informed us either .
- Kasvinda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (10/5): we had the most wonderful stay, especially thanks to the care of Raju who helped us organise so many things, he made our - the property is on a stunning piece of land
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lakshinie (10/5): excellent location for a relaxing holiday, comfortable rooms with very friendly staff - Good service, value for money none
- Shine (6/5): Pleasant - It was overpriced
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Arsalan (10/5): Exceptional - Insanely superb views by the lake and mountains. Loved the Kayaking, the food and the hospitality esp Justin who was super friendly and of service. Great to meet the Manager heading the resort, very humble and cordial. Rooms were also very classy with some great views of the reservoir on one side and the tea gardens on the other side. They also had the option to cycle around the resort.
- Joe (10/5): Best hotel I've ever stayed in! - From start to finish the service was amazing. The room itself had a beautiful view of the lake, all the amenities required and a great powerful shower.
We had breakfast lunch and dinner here, all meals were excellent and not too pricey given the luxurious feel of this place.
Thank you to all the team who looked after us we loved it! Nothing to note but would be great if there was a spa & gym.
- Romain (7/5): Great view and peaceful environment, great service but low food quality. Over priced for the stay we had. - the view on lake from the room is incredible. the service was great. Our buttler was very professional, helpful and friendly, very satisfied. The food should be improved. Dinner was
just all right. I had a fried chicken with chili and could not feel any chili in the dish. I was also expecting more ambiance there but it was really quiet. Not possible to have a beer or other alcool since they don’t have an alcool licence.
- Ebrahim (10/5): highly recommend - clean
big size of the room
excellent hospitality specially Mr. Justin very helpful and great customer service all good
- Hirushie (9/5): Superb -
- Dumidu (10/5): Exceptional - Everything there Nothing to mention
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - view from the room on the lake is great, food is good, breakfast on the terrace with the view on the lake just gorgeous. you can also rent a kayak and paddle around the lake
- Faustine (10/5): Paradise stay after Adam’s peak ! - Staff was extremely nice and helping with our trip,
location is superb and the view from the chalet is amazing
food was delicious
great confort and everything we needed before taking the train to Ella nothing
- Christina (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptional staff, efficient service, breath taking view, mouth watering food. My husband and I visited the farm resort for 2 nights and were met by Raju who saw to our every needs including helping me set up a beautiful candle lit dinner and a surprise birthday cake for my husband's birthday. Can't thank the staff enough for such an amazing experience ❤️❤️
The food is to die for. My favourite was the rice and curries along with the spicy buffalo chicken wings 😋😋
For leisure we took part in the Kayaking experience. 100% recommend to anyone looking for serene experience with a bit of morning exercise 🚣♀️🚣♀️
Most definitely hoping to visit again. Thank you to all the staff at the farm resort.
- Ahmed (10/5): - Amazing, satisfied and happy
- Lucius (10/5): - Great location and cottages for us and our 2 kids and the baby. Staff was outstanding and looking after us literally 24/7. The area offers a variety of potential expeditions and adventures that are very enjoyable for young families.
- Dario (10/5): Charming bugalows with view on the lake! - What a relaxing place this is! We are a family of 3 and spent (unfortunately) only one night at the Farms Resort in Hatton. Great elegant bungalow with beautiful terrace and view on the lake. Very spacious. Excellent dinner and very kind service and staff. A place to go back!
- Yoko (8/5): The view - Everything about our stay was as expected except for the ludicrous pricing of a vegetarian lunch consisting of 3 vegetable curries and lentil curry with rice costing 3,450 rupees per person when a tea pluckers daily pay was finally raised to Rs.1,000. BTW the buffet lunch at the 5 star Heritance Tea Factory cost Rs. 3,000.
- ODED (8/5): Amazing place, needs a little tighter cleaning. - The location is great and natural.
The place itself seems a little unfinished (no bathtub in the room, some construction, no nets in windows and the rooms can be more accessorized).
The hospitality was very good, and the staff (especially Justin) are very nice and helpful.
I believe that in a few seasons this place will be a top 5star hotel as the buildings and natural environment are really special, but indeed a little touch up can make this place an even more perfect spot for vacation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The situation on the edge of the reservoir and in the midst of the tea fields is really spectacular. Everywhere you can wander from the property's location is going to be just delightful, and there are some great outing/day trip options in the surrounding area. So whether you just want to laze around in the hammocks and later go for a stroll in the hills, or really see + do the Hatton area, you're going to be well-pleased. The service is unparalleled - I've never felt so welcomed, taken care of, and respected by a hotel staff. The only problem I had was that there was no mosquito net, and I really needed one - but I would wager this is not a issue for most guests, which is why it's not already provided. I unfortunately have some kind of constitution that mosquitos are exceptionally fond of, so they always find me even when they ignore everyone else. I would have slept more peacefully here if there had been a mosquito net. But if you're like most of the Asian continent's population, and ~don't~ have type O blood, you'll probably be unbothered and not miss the mosquito net at all. Other than that, everything at the Farm Resorts was perfect. The food was excellent! And as I said before, the best service and greatest kindness I've ever experienced from a hotel staff. I didn't want to leave!
- s (10/5): Stunning location - Top location, lovely rooms and very friendly staff, would recommend to any one
- Derwin (10/5): 6 out of 5, if we could - Quiet, wonderful view, great food, and fantastic service. Sits on the lake and is surrounded by a tea plantation. A wonderful visit.
- Pete (10/5): Fantastic! - A fantastic place with a welcoming, relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. Beautiful accommodation, stunning area and scenery, fantastic food and fabulous service - nothing was too much trouble. A perfect place to switch off and take in the amazing scenery. Some nice local places to explore on foot or by bike. Board games at the hotel we’re nice too!
