Genevieve (8/5): - L’hôtel est bien situé, sur la plage et belle piscine. Chaise longue en bois prêt de la piscine peu nombreuses et très inconfortable. Les chambres serait dû pour un rafraîchissement. Si c’est considéré pour comme une auberge de jeunesse c’est assez cher nous avons eu un hôtel beaucoup luxueux à Manuel Antonio pour à peines quelques dollars de plus. Nous avons passer une seul heureusement!

Anthony (8/5): - You get what you pay for. Pleasant and accomodating staff, food and drink available as were some activities (ie surf lessons), but really no frills.
John (10/5): - I stayed in one of the cylinder rooms for my 40th birthday. It was a super unique room and I'm glad I booked it. It still had shared restrooms, but the restrooms were well kept and super clean. The cylinder rooms have an A/C unit as well, so it is easy to get the room down to a comfortable temperature for sleeping. The rest of the resort is also amazing. They have a surf school, nice, clean outdoor pool, and a full-service bar and restaurant. I would absolutely recommend this place and especially the cylinder rooms for anyone looking for somewhere unique to stay.
Nicholas (2/5): - I would like to start by saying the the property itself and surroundings are not the reason for my negative review. The negative review comes from the service received. Here is the background story : This is a frustrating story and we were robbed a night’s stay. We booked 3 nights, from March 5th to the 8th. We arrived on location at approximately 6PM on March 5th for the check-in. Upon arrival, we noticed that the hotel was completely in the dark. It turned out to be a power outage affecting only Socialtel Jaco. When asked when the power would be back, the staff member advised that they were not sure and it possibly only be tomorrow. Therefore, asking ourselves if it was worth staying at the hotel for the night (without AC, lights or power), after being told that we could get a refund if we contacted Expedia by the front desk staff member, we decided to book another hotel only for that night and come back for check-in the next day. We received a WhatsApp message at 8:40 PM that same night from the Socialtel Team advising that the power had been restored. Though, we had already been told that a refund was possible and we were already well established in another hotel. The next day we arrived on location, did our check-in and continued on with our vacation. We arrived back home on March 9th and on March 10th, I decided I would follow up with Expedia and ask for the refund.

Common bathrooms weren't always clean. We had to wait for bath towels after checking in. We checked in quite late. We were thankful for the gated parking but it took us a couple of tries to find. Like anything, its difficult to find the first time. The pods were comfy and cozy

Farzan (4/5): - Positives: Very close to the downtown area, where all the shops and restaurants are. Located on the beach, so it's just a short walk away. Has a bar and a restaurant. Includes a small pool. The room has a fridge, and the AC works great. Negatives: Small parking lot. Very small rooms that are dirty (spider webs and flies inside). Bed sheets and towels have stains. No hot water. Their dryer broke, so we went without fresh towels for two days. Overall: If you want to stay close to the beach and downtown, this is a good option. However, if you're looking for luxury and amenities, this is not the place for you. Lastly, room service is offered but they don't do a great job.

ARLETTE (10/5): HOW CAN SELINAS GET ANY BETTER?? - every time i come to jaco beach i stay at selinas and every time i stay it just gets better and better all the time. this time they had the entertainment of the DOUBLE tight rope walker over the pool giving lessons. i was not drunk enough to try it myself, but steven was the greatest. oh, and don't fotget aboout the every night happy hour with cocnut water and cacique. did you know that in world wars 1I and II, that they used coconut water for blood transfusions on the soldiers that lost so much blood and there was a shortage of blood supply? well, add that cacique &................probably would not have cared about the wounds. best drink and food ever. best vibe and they may need to expand the kitchen for the hostel kids. such a fun place to be! surfing school has so many peeps learning how to surf! i wish i could post my photos but once i hit send on this review then i can't get them off my phone. oh yea. they use the most up to date use your device to see the menu in order to order the food. i'm 65 but not so tech savvy. but still love to have fun in this old body, so help me get a little fatter by not making me order without the physical menu. even if you post the menu up with erasable prices with one of the cool boards that you can put the super cool BRIGHT colors that face back to back...one facing the 'audience' on poolside, and the other facing inward. hell post them toward the beach too. remind us what goodies you got on the menu! it is always GRE

Gint (10/5): Look no further... - My favorite place in Jaco. Not only is it on the beach, it has its own bar and restaurant, as well as a pool. Staff are friendly and kind, truly first-rate. Interesting mix of guests. Free salsa lessons. On-site surfing school. Secure parking lot if you're driving. Pura vida!
Cassandra (4/5): - Upon checkin we weren’t offered an upgrade or complimentary drink. We went to our room and realized we had no towels. I went out and asked and they said they would be right down with them. I didn’t want to be pushy but we had just spent 6hrs in the car. We waited about 30 minutes and I asked again and again was told a few minutes. We finally went to the beach with no towels just to cool off. After my 4th ask we finally received them. When I went to wash my hands lastnight after using the bathroom there was no hand soap. Last straw was this morning when showering I realized there was women’s hair all over the shower. Gross. 30 seconds in the shower stops completely. Needless to stay it wasn’t a good experience. I expressed my concerns and the receptionist just said sorry? It wasn’t her fault but this was a bad experience.

Jayakrishnan (6/5): - Great beach hostel. Visited early November and was less busy and hence wasnt very socially active. The food and drinks are great and affordable and they accept cash and card. Great beach right in front of you. The facilities are good. The only thing that I didn’t enjoy is that they dont take care of the rooms well. I rented the expensive cylinders to get the feel of it but in fact didn’t enjoy much. The space is limited, the bed sheet had bird poop on it and signs of bugs. Couldn’t sleep well at night because of itching and unable to control the ac temperature (may be ac was malfunctioning or I wasn’t able to change its mode and temperature). The staff were kind and helpful in their way.

Terrapin Lina Velloso (10/5): - The hostel was super cute and colorful I loved every part of the property, the staff answered any questions I had and were nice. The private room was very clean, nice, and aside from the community kitchen, we had a coffee machine and mini fridge in our room. The restaurant and bar on the property had great food and the daily cocktail promos were great. Short walking distance from shopping center, restaurants and grocery store. If you like adventure and a chill environment with a mix of young travelers and families I recommend Selina.

On day 3, there were some plumbing issues which the front desk tried to have fixed. The plumbing issues continued to be a problem the following day so we were placed in another room. The 2nd room was great and we didn’t mind having to share a king size bed. There were several trip hazards around the property. The service at the bar was slow. The food was ok. The front desk staff - Luisa and Andres were GREAT!

It smelled musky due to there being no windows and no ventilation unless we left the door open (hard to do this with mosquitos and the heat). Bathroom itself was also musky, moldy, and poor ventilation. I would expect a better room being how pricey a night is here.

Max (10/5): - My wife and I had an amazing time at Selina Jaco. The facility itself was beautiful - stunning beachfront, beautiful pool area, and lovely and quirky rooms to stay in. The staff was wonderful and we enjoyed our meals as well as renting a surfboard from the shop. For an excellent overall experience we were pleasantly surprised with how affordable our stay was. We would highly recommend staying at Selina Jaco!
Jonathan (4/5): - expedia noted this down as a hotel, upon arriving I started noticing its a hostel. Not what we were expecting and what we were told. Not a bad place but definitely not what we were expecting. Another thing that really threw me off was the staff was not as friendly as we were expecting... disappointed because of that. I live in Miami where I am use to paying $17 for a drink... How in the world did I get charged $27 for 1 drink at hotel Selina.. It makes no sense to me. not pleased unfortunately

Sandy (6/5): Great Location and Clean, Bad Customer Service - The place itself is at a great location with a pool and a bar right on the beach. It has different options for different budgets which makes it a great value and makes it feel like a resort even for college kids in the hostel dorm on a tight budget. I had a small single room, but it very clean - with shared showers and bathrooms. The Staff, however, need to take a customer service 101 class - I was hassled for not wearing a bracelet they want you to wear at all times while swimming in the pool and staff were young and constantly on their phones instead of providing good customer service and acted bothered when asked to resolve an issue for me. Also, they didn’t communicate things like the fact you could check in your surfboards at the surf shop instead of dragging them all the way back to your room effectively - I had to ask the shop after I saw other people checking their boards. Other than the front office staff the rest of the staff were great. For me personally, it felt too much like a vacation factory and not the chilling out at the beach surfing experience ones looking for - but it was clean and is at a prime beachfront location!
Ruqayyah (8/5): - Great for solo travelers! Lots of dining options along the strip and it's super easy/ convenient to book your airport shuttle and excursions through the Selina. AC worked really well, hot water was available, and the room was clean. The bathrooms are not as nice but given that they are communal they were decent.

WiFi worked well everywhere and the space was laid out well with space for two large suitcases to be opened and not inconvenience you too much. A/C worked well and had many options including dehumify which is key, and able to turn led off. Bathroom door is made of windows and doesn't stop any noise coming from the bathroom or light which is a slight inconvenience. Surf school is amazing Communal lounging/working areas are comfortable as well. Coffee, water bottles are incredibly expensive ... Worth the 3min. Walk to the coffee shop instead. Snacks at receptions and coke cans very expensive as well (1 can of coke is 5.50 USD)
gregory (10/5): - As a whole with loved our stay at Selina. They have a great location directly on the beach, food was good and the staff very friendly. The ONLY negative for us was the shower, it was a little bit of a gamble on how hot it might get while standing under it. I would definitely stay there again.

Bar/Restaurant 1/2 price Margaritas on Fridays was as any other bar, very easy on the liquor, great food from the Bar. The only dislike would be all relative. I had a private room across from the reception desk #203. I learned the reception desk is closed by 10:PM/should be no noise. There is the old saying "When the cats are away, the mouse will play." There was noise all the way to 4am. Young people having fun, understandable. After 50 you would like to get a little rest and reductions on noise levels around your room. That being said, place the "senior citizens who enjoy surfing" on the back side, where the noise level was apparently less. All good, will do it again! Outstanding place!

Thomas (6/5): Great staff and location. - The staff was great. Food and drink was very overpriced. Almost felt like a retail store at times, which diminished the experience and authenticity a bit. Bathroom could use some updating. Enjoyed the volleyball games during sunset.

Abdulaziz (10/5): Great staff just what you need nothing more. Clean - small rooms but everything you need to go to the beach surf and come home to crash. Shower were clean and just what you expect out of a hostel. Staff was were this place shined. Great for solo travels if you need to practice your Spanish and get some good vibes going while tele working and surfing. Pura Vida

Nick (8/5): Selina - The outdoor area is awesome. The pool and outdoor bar was really thought out. The beach is located right on the property. The rooms are okay. They look cheap and they have no hot water. Extremely cold. Literally had to bend my body so it wasn’t in the water. Bed was old.
Roque (10/5): A must when you travel to Costa Rica! - Well...SELINA hotels have just become our favorites around the globe! Each one of them offers eclectic rooms and very originals! The guests create a great vibe having drinks together and playing board games, volleyball and many other activities! It is also clean, spacious bedrooms and perfect wifi and aircon! The breakfast are perfect and big and their own brewed beer cannot be missed!

Jerry (10/5): The only place to stay in Jaco. - This is the only place to stay in Jaco. The property has a pool and bar/restaurant right on the beach, which is spectacular. Food and drinks were fabulous, and the accommodations were more than adequate, especially for the price. There were some issues because the hotel was undergoing some renovations. However. The management and staff go above and beyond to make sure that their guests are happy. The property is beautiful, with gardens, and the beach, but what makes this place great is the management and staff. Even with the minor issues it's still 5 star, especially for the price.

Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed in a private room with private bathroom for the second time in a week. The property itself is great. A well-cared for pool, bar/restaurant, plenty of seating, great views. Staff is very friendly and accommodating, especially when booking shuttles or excursions. I do have to say that the beds are pretty hard with flat pillows (as experienced in two different rooms), and being along the main pathway was pretty loud at night, but that’s to be expected at a hostel! Highly recommend and we will be back!
Verified traveler (6/5): Standard room not worth the money - Great location, cool vibe. However, $70 “standard room” gets you a dank wet room (and we visited during the dry season) with cots with blood stains on the sheets, a rusty shower with unpredictable hot water (if you don’t touch the knobs at all then it alternates between full blast scalding and ice cold), ridiculously slow front desk service, and an out of order pool. In the morning, the floor and anything on the floor was soaking wet. You are better off booking on of the container rooms- they looked like they had real beds and the shared bathroom and shower were much nicer and cleaner than our private one.
Ann (10/5): Better than the kids expected :) - Cute hostel. Rooms are small by hotel standards, but adequate for our needs. This place is right on the beach and included a locked parking area (across the street) that was only opened by the security guard. Pool was chilly, but the water at the beach was warm. We had dinner here for the convenience factor (Jaco is a busy place to walk around with kids at night) and it was good. Breakfast in the morning included typical Costa Rican breakfast in a buffet style and was delicious. We enjoyed the outdoor seating areas in the common spaces. Kids liked trying the slack-lining between trees. No TV, but decent wifi. The room could be more secure, but we felt safe sleeping in the little compound. Be aware that they do not allow food to be kept in the rooms, but do have a shared kitchen if you have things that need to be refrigerated or stored. Would probably stay here again if we were in the area.
Verified traveler (10/5): - This place is exactly as described. Please keep in mind it is a two star, beach hostel. You should NOT be coming here expecting a beach resort. That being said, it is incredibly clean, and the staff is always ready to answer your questions. The person who I assume is the manager is top-notch, she went above and beyond to answer all of our needs!
Ben (6/5): Everything except the staff is awesome - Awesome location. Absolutely terrible staff. None of them seem to enjoy their job. They do not even acknowledge you when you approach the front desk or bar and often appear to be inconvenienced when you ask them something. Also pretty sure one of the front desk girls was so high while working that she couldn't understand what I was saying (I know she spoke english).
