Guest Reviews
- Wallen (4/5): - Not so good…
- Gary (6/5): - Friendly staff was the best feature. Disappointing features was the advertised pool had been closed for over twelve months. Maintenance on the property was substandard for the price point.
- glen (8/5): Simama hotel - A nice hotel in the heart of Lilongwe. Stay was helpful and friendly. Hallway needed cleaning. Rooms were clean and bed comfortable.
- Vera marija (10/5): - Fantastic
- Richard (6/5): - Our room had not been cleaned very well. Items from previous guest in bathroom. Hairdryer was not working. I have stayed here in previous years. The staff has changed. Not as friendly as they used to be.
- Edith (2/5): Totally disappointed - The rooms are so small and tight. There is too much furniture in deluxe rooms. No space to put suitcase to open it. The walls are in desperate need for an update. The hotel needs an overhaul update. I couldn’t stay there I left and went to another hotel. If you are looking for a mediocre standard that’s the place for you.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not too bad
- Gaza (8/5): - レストランは美味しかったです。特に朝食が良かった。
スタッフも協力的で色々とアドバイスしてくれました。
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Mirroring the exterior concrete slab look of the property, the horrible inside of the hotel is a tired version of what used to be even as new ugly design and poor furniture choice. The doors were not made for the frame and hardware so all doors are hacked on the top. You can see daylight around the doors as the fit is so poor. Good luck finding power plugs in there, you will have to unplug some lamp after using a lot of energy moving the heavy furniture. Bed, chair, tables are all too large for the room rendering movement difficult. State of the furniture, windows, wallpaper is OLD and TIRED. Internet was working 10-20% of the time, always unstable from one minute to the next. Restaurant and bars are inside with no windows, not really inviting to go have a meal in a cave. Price was high for was it is, avoid at all costs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quite centrally located. Friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable room rate per night but still good quality room. Traffic close outside, but not any problem with traffic noise. I only had breakfast there, so I'm not able to say anything about the kitchen. Absolutely a place worth considering in Lilongwe.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel in good location and easy to find. It was quiet so like Lilongwe a little soulless.
- Jules (10/5): - Great time ... staff are very friendly and awesome management
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel - They have perfect restaurant, nice city view, and good distance with city center. We had problem with reservation but they figure out very quick. It is The Best hotel in Lilongwe.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I had crutches while there, and there lift was not working
- Peter (8/5): all staffs are very friendly - Manager V.J Humber and wifi service is good. clean and comforter.
- richard (10/5): nice surprise - I've driven passed this hotel a number of times and have always wondered why they didn't employ an architect as it's pretty unattractive. But now I find that the exterior hides a little gem. Nice friendly staff, good rooms, clean and tidy. Breakfast was ok too. Secure parking and on the edge of the town centre. Overall I thought it was good value
- Dane (8/5): Cemtral (Area 1), economical yet classy - Nice central location with a secure perimeter. Clean but needs a deep clean program to frequently get areas that are missed on daily service. Toilet sprayer needs frequent sanitizing due to its nature and it was lacking.
Windows and carpets need to be part of cleaning maintenance cycle to increase the positive experience.
The room was broken up into bedroom, sitting room and bath room. Nice effect but due to huge size if bed, there was no room to walk around sides and it was cramped.
Restaurant was clean (except for the German roach running around from under serving table to under tables). Food was well prepared and variety of Chinese, Indian, British, local menu was well appreciated.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Elevator was out of service for a week plus (not a deal breaker but may annoy some).
Some road noise and many noisy birds roost on walls outside room but not horrendous.
Air-con works well with dual units.
Very strong and consistent high speed internet but satellite television service was poor for a week.
- Bryan (4/5): Comfortable Room but Hotel Lacks Basic Amenities - I stayed at the Simama Hotel for one and half weeks.
Pros:
- Comfortable bed and room with working air-conditioning
- Staff are friendly
- Fairly Central Location in Lilongwe
- Working TV in room with two international news channels and a range of local channels
Cons:
- The hotel advertises free Wifi but this rarely works sufficiently to browse the most basic of websites or retrieve emails. My advice is to purchase an Airtel SIM card with data and create your own hotspot.
- The menu in the restaurant lacks variety. Consists of expensive meat, a burger, a few sandwiches, a lot of different curries and some Chinese dishes. No African dishes.
- The restaurant and bar are tucked away in windowless rooms at the back of the hotel
- No concept of a concierge. When seeking a different meal or place to have a drink, the staff were unable to provide suggestions.
- Breakfast is the same every day: egg, baked beans, fried potatoes and fried tomatoes. One of the mornings, I was served raw tomato and cold baked beans. Sometimes there is cereal and fruit.
- Coffee is bad. Tastes like the filter coffee machine is kept on 24 hours per day, resulting in a burned and stale tasting drink.
- Vic (8/5): - I enjoyed my stay at Simama
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The room was decent and very comfortable.
The only down side was the Wifi signal not being as strong as I would have expected at all the places in the hotel.
Beside that, great experience
