• Andrew (9/5): Great B&B for anyone needing one or two nights accommodation at a reasonable price. - Just right for a one night stop over while we were nearby for a wedding. Small room but very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The serve yourself breakfast was fine with a wide selection to chose from. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The bed could do with a thinner duvet available for summer use by those of us warm souls. In fairness I didn't ask if one was available.

• Stephen (3/5): Did not get value for money and uncomfortable - Room was warm Bed was uncomfortable and made so much noise if you moved, after using the towels I hung them to dry in the bathroom and over the day they smelt very musty so did not use them again Breakfast was supposed to be a help your self continental style , nothing laid out, packets of cheese that had been opened for I don’t know how long and cheep ham in the fridge, cereal packs looked old, mugs in the room looked dirty but were actually scratched that could hold germs

• Nicola (10/5): - I felt at home in the b&b and liked that you could get your own breakfast and there were facilities such as a microwave should you need it. It was very convenient that it was so close to Glenside university as well. The host was very welcoming and helpful.

• Ron (8/5): Just what I needed - Breakfast was good and being able to get breakfast early in the morning was a bonus. On Saturday morning there was only one tea bag left. Andy was very helpful and friendly on booking in. The car parking and exit in and out. Missed the opening on both Friday and Saturday nights. There is need to turn to exit forward facing but it is a 7 or 9 point turn. No where to hang wet towels in bathroom
• DaveDennyC (8/5): If you are looking for an out of town location and dog friendly this is for you. - Friendly and helpful host. The buffet continental style breakfast was good. Good location without being in the city centre. Nearby pubs were great for evening meals. Being dog friendly with a big field behind the property was excellent for us. Could have done with a few hooks in the bedroom and possibly a chair. The temperature control for the shower was faulty - which we reported to the host.

Location wise it was about 5 minutes in the car to the motorway and had a bus stop outside if you needed public transport Everything was fine, can't really say anything negative

I keep coming back and would happily recommend it for several reasons: - A lovely owner who really looks after you and makes an effort - Efficient, flexible check in and check out, great if you want to come and go quickly without hassle - An EV charger, which is very useful for me, with costs kept moderate and simply passed through - A quick self serve breakfast that’s perfect if you want to get going early in the morning - Comfortable, clean rooms, I always sleep well and the beds are excellent n/a

• Ben (9/5): Comfortable B&B, with a lovely host, free parking and reasonably priced EV charger - Karen is a fantastic host – friendly, welcoming, and always willing to go the extra mile to make you feel at home. The free parking, reasonably priced EV charger, and plenty of local running routes to unwind after work are all much appreciated. As someone working in the area, it’s ideal to have a comfortable, convenient place to stay nearby – especially one where I can easily charge my car. -

• Orsilla (10/5): The Old Star is tops - The host was very friendly and ensured that we had everything we needed and more. The accomodation was spotless and the bed was very comfy. She gave us all the info we needed for different excursions. We had "safe parking" right at the door. She is an animal lover and made a fuss of our "furry baby". The breakfast was lovely. A few steps, but it was my own mistake as i did not mention it when booking the accomodation. The host offered a different room without the few steps, but i declined it and i managed the few steps well.

But would like some more healthy options. Nuts, seeds and Greek yoghurt to go with the fruit. But I know I’m very fussy with breakfast and you can’t cater for everyone!

• Carolyn (10/5): Excellent - We stayed at The Old Star for one night but would happily have stayed longer. Karen, our host, welcomed us and explained how everything worked. The room was lovely, clean, very comfortable and we had a very peaceful night’s sleep. In addition there was a kitchen and breakfast room where we could help ourselves during our stay. There was no rushing us out in the morning, we just took our time and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast. The icing on the cake was the free parking. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend to others.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Old pub vibe - Checkin was very friendly and helpful. Photos a bit misleading as kitchen area is shared between three rooms. Bathroom was pretty cold (studio room) and shower cubicle cosy/small with a general musty smell. Bed was comfortable but location on the main road meant it’s a noisy night if you’re a light sleeper. Continental breakfast was lovely with lots of choice.
• Allan (5/5): Nice room but location in building meant noise was constant. - Room was spacious and had a dedicated work area Location of room was right by the main road meaning the only way to have privacy was to close the curtains or shutter but that blocked any natural light out from by the work area. The other problem was the lack of soundproofing in the room meant you heard every conversation of people walking past and all the traffic noise meaning my sllep was disrupted.
• Driver (7/5): The accommodation suited my needs at the time. - Breakfast was self service and adequate. Host was friendly. Bed wasn't particularly comfortable. Mattress was hard and bed creaked with slightest movement.

We stayed for three nights and the room was a bit cramped for our purposes. Bathroom light was on a sensor switch so went on when you entered. This sounds like a good idea but was impractical as it flooded the whole room with light each time the bathroom was used at night, waking other occupants. Hotel is located on a busy road and turning into the driveway was tricky. However it was still an enjoyable stay.

It does have about six wooden stairs inside the bedroom door which would not be suitable for some. The choice of breakfast items was really good many different cereals, cheeses ham and fruit. • Stephan (8/5): For one or two nights completely ok, I would take it next time as well. - The owner Karen is one of the most lovely hosts I ever had. Very kind and has a solution for all issues/requests! Water tap in the bathroom could get a little bit more attention from the cleaning and towels don’t get dry during the day due to missing of a proper heating. Highly frequented road is next to the hotel, but if you have good sleep no issues.
