- Ivan (10/5): - This was by far the best hotel we've ever stayed at anywhere, it was truly a 5 star place; it looked and felt like it. Exquisite grounds, impeccable service from Gerry, and got to meet his friendly dog as well. We somehow managed to get the penthouse at a reasonable rate and it was so awesome it was unbelievable that we could stay there. The only problem we had is that it was a little too cold in our room for our taste as it was in-floor heating and it was 2000 square feet of open space. We asked for an extra heater and Gerry brought one to us. Breakfast was great and served in a nice high ceiling room with other guests. Real, fresh squeezed orange juice, actually good coffee that comes in a French press and all local ingredients with your choice of options. Bed was really comfortable and a good size. The pillows were comfortable, comforter was extra soft, couches were actually comfortable. When you arrive Gerry comes out to greet you and take your bags, and when you leave he comes out to help you take your bags and check out, just like magic. We've never stayed in an actual B&B before so we can't really speak to how different or better it was, but we've stayed at much more expensive and supposedly fancy places that were just really expensive hotels and fancier looking, but this was a totally different and better experience in every regard. We highly recommend, would stay again!

Our hosts were friendly and very knowledgeable on the area. Gerry gave us many recommendations on where to go or what to visit. Delicious breakfast! We wish we had a longer stay but hope to visit Sligo and Castledale again soon.

- robbie (10/5): Best place to stay in Sligo. - I was dubious at first with the quality of the reviews being so good, however I can confirm that they are genuine. An extra effort for breakfast was made for my dietary requirements and the grounds and place is better than a hotel. You will not be disappointed. The penthouse suite I took is 250 sq metre. It’s bigger than some houses, great value.

- Stephen (10/5): Go Sligo - I arrived late late in the evening around 730 and was greeted by Jerry. It was almost like coming to a friends house to stay if your friends house was a mansion. We asked for recommendations for any restaurants in the town for dinner. Unfortunately we got there too late and most of them are closed. We will be coming back. There is some fabulous places to eat in this town and speaking of eating. I stayed in 11 hotels on this trip to Ireland and this location had the best breakfast, absolutely delicious. Jerry was an excellent host and he made us feel at home.

Gorgeous gardens, magnificent house, fitted out with everything you might need. My only regret was only staying one night. Would stay there for a week and be happy next time.

- Nathan (10/5): - This is an absolute must stay if you are in the are of Sligo! The owners of Castledale have turned their home into a magnificent accommodation for guests. Don’t worry…the owners live behind the property now after their kids moved out. You are literally staying in a castle, or a mansion for those of us from the United States. The bedrooms are all locked rooms. As a guest, you get a “castle key” to your room, a key to the front door, and a remote for the private driveway gate. The common areas of the home serve as a breakfast area, entertainment area, and relaxation area. There is a piano, a pool table, a massive room to watch movies, and much more. The grounds of the property are immaculate. The owners and hosts greet you upon your arrival and give you a great tour. Each room has its own bath and equipped with a hair dryer, soap/body wash/shampoo and conditioner. It feels a little strange at first because you are staying in someone’s house which they use to live in, but this is a mansion/castle and it was fabulous. My only concern was that if you happen to book at the same time as a rowdy individual or two, they could literally play the piano or watch movies downstairs all night and the sound would carry. One of the coolest places we have ever stayed at.

- Diane (10/5): Huge place. - Huge house. Felt very like a modern manor house. Room was comfortable, lots of electrical outlets. No safe. Free wifi and parking. Breakfast was excellent. The grounds were beautiful, too. My only caveat was that there were motion controlled gates and we didn’t know if we were in the right place initially. Plus when you left the gates, they opened towards you so I had to back up to get out. Great place.

Highly recommend.

It looked nothing like the booked room online. Not getting the room we booked, cobb webs/spider in the bathroom window and the small bed for two persons dampened my opinion of this place.

Wish the weather were nicer so that we could truly appreciate the gardens. Will have to come back again in the summer time! The rooms are spacious and clean. Food was great. Played pool and watched a movie in the media room. Close to downtown Sligo. Definitely worth staying here if you get the opportunity.

- Sarah (10/5): Friendly hosts in a beautiful home - This was an incredibly impressive home/property, secluded but located only 5 minutes from the town of Sligo. The home was massive with some really cool features. The hosts gave us a tour and indicated common areas for guest use. There was both a billiard room and theater room for guests to use at their leisure. A yummy breakfast was served in the morning, with several choices cooked to order. Our room and bathroom were a decent size and very clean. Netflix was available on all the in-room TVs. The hosts were lovely and accommodating and offered some great suggestions for sight-seeing and local restaurants. Highly recommend!

- Pam (8/5): Penthouse Accommodations in Modern Castle - We had the entire top floor of this "castle." The place is beautiful and well-equipped and our host Jerry was attentive and gracious. Ireland is having a heat-wave so having the windows as well as the doors to both balconies open was a must. Unfortunately, we could hear the sheep bleating and the sun came in bright and early (5 am) in the master bedroom. Could have used just a sheet rather than a heavy duvet. Despite that, the views were amazing and it's a short drive to the river restaurant area for dinmer. The breakfast at Castledale was amazing! Best fruit plate and omlette we've ever had. Wish we had booked more than one night here. It was a beautiful place.
