• Mike (8/5): Very nice place with friendly staff. - Everything was good. As an owner of five Porsches I was happy to see 3 or 4 Porsches parked out front when we arrived. The hotel is charming and our room was very spacious. The bed was not uncomfortable but it was not super comfortable either which I think is important in a hotel. The staff brought our bags up the stairs for us which was very nice. And they have an orange juice machine for fresh squeezed orange juice at breakfast which was very special because I love fresh squeezed orange juice. I made a non-refundable reservation before realizing this hotel was out of the way on a driving trip. I asked Booking.com, who I used for the reservation if I could cancel and book another property on our route instead of going the opposite direction of travel which added several hours to our already long trip and they didn't have a problem with it but the property did so we stayed there and enjoyed our stay. Completely my fault but driving so many hours in one day was difficult.

• Tracy (9/5): Lovely place would stay again. Would like to use the facilities more restricted due to dog policy. - Great location, easy parking, nice garden to sit in. Bathroom was superb very modern and large €20 per night per dog was extreme. Unable to take the dog in the restaurant or bar.

• David (10/5): Would stay again - Lovely building and grounds. We also got upgraded which was very kind. Bed comfortable and had best sleep of trip. Fair selection at breakfast. Much larger than we first thought both inside and out. Could have spent longer. Helpful staff and interesting history. Brown bread and pain aux raisin would have been nice. Also separate bacon from egg please.

• Catherine (9/5): Absolutely fabulous, thank you for making our stay so special. - We were greated with such a warm welcome by Cindy I just knew that we had picked the perfect place for our third year together anniversary. kevin was also exceptional and showed us to our room straight away. The hotel is beautiful, set inlovely gardens and very well styled. Our room was spacious and had a double aspect which was really nice. The shower room was ok, plenty of room and a lovely warm shower. We had breakfast on our first morning - a bit expensive, but beautifully presented and a great choice of everything. We have been to Montruille 4 times now and this will be my preferred option for our return next year. Thank you so much, Catherine The shower was quite small, and it took awhile for the hot water to come through, but this really wasn't a big issue. It would also be good to have different types of pillow - e.g. firm and flat, as well as soft.

• Philip (10/5): A real gem. - The room was beautifully decorated, unlike the bland look you get in most hotels. The staff were personable, always helpful and professional. The hotel is in a good location with free on street parking and has a well maintained garden.

The town and walks around it are delightful. The hotel is very quiet I would stay there again as there was clearly a problem only in my room. I should have asked for another room as there was a problem they should have warned me in mine.

• Arif (10/5): Lovely hotel, great rooms, nice fireplace to have a drink with friends - Beautiful building, location is perfect, very short walk into the village centre with the circular fort walls directly outside the hotel so nice for a morning walk around the town. Rooms were huge and in excellent condition. Staff were really nice.

Fabulous food, welcoming staff, immaculately clean and comfortable room and very convenient location in the beautiful town of Montreuil made for a fantastic stay. This was our first visit but it will definitely not be our last. Absolutely nothing
• Kate (10/5): Lovely stay in a beautiful Chateau with great staff , food and optimal comfort - we will return. - Beautiful hotel with lovely , friendly staff, excellent restaurant and lovely bar for pre drinks before our meal and a nightcap. Very dog friendly welcoming our dogs and providing treats and a ball for them .... what a lovely touch. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated and very well equipped also with tea making facility in the room which you don't always see in France. Great location too.

The only thing that was quite misleading was it said pets not allowed in the restaurant so we thought we could take our dog into the bar but we’re told we couldn’t so we had to have dinner and drinks in our room.

Unfortunately this property is an assault on your senses. The interior is a chaotic mix of styles, colours and is in very poor taste. My evening meal was inedible , my husband eat his and was ill. My food was returned the kitchen we were not refunded

Zeer grote kamer en ruime badkamer met douche en bad. Alles was voorzien voor een 4 sterren hotel. Zeer Proper. Goed bed. Het restaurant was knus en het avondeten lekker. Het hotel is zeer charmant, maar een beetje gedateerd. Een lichte make-over zou deugd doen

• Jill (7/5): Disappointed that it didn’t live up to our expectations, having been for lunch many times pre-Covid. - It was OK but had to keep walking backwards and forwards to serve ourselves between different rooms. Hot water for tea not hot enough. Also water for boiling eggs was cold so took a long time to cook an egg. Bacon and scrambled eggs already made did not look appealing and bacon not cooked well. We were disappointed that restaurant was closed, although had been warned in advance. But it was strange that the bar was open but only for beer or soft drinks but no snacks or sandwiches. A glass of wine in the garden or on our balcony would have been nice. We didn’t like the way the hotel had been refurbished, especially the pavilion and thought it looked a bit run down.

The building is gorgeous, but some aspects are tired. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We opted to eat at the hotel restaurant and were extremely disappointed. We ate in the garden which was lovely and the waiter was very enthusiastic. However, the food was very poor. Completely lacking in any flavour or imagination. They were not serving a set meal, so it was very expensive for such poor quality.

Our cases were carried up to our room which was spacious (huge) clean and comfortable. The decor was beautiful. We had a lovely meal in the garden which is well manicured. We really didn’t want to leave, and I’m sure we’ll be back.
