The restaurant for breakfast was across the street on the river with great food, very good service, and so very peaceful! Loved it! Entering you’re in the bathroom which opens to a seating area which was marginally comfortable. The bedroom was up a steep set of stairs. Note: we are seniors - young people would find this more adaptable.

What makes the hotel special is all the extras: -free minibar -free fruits -free Mekong river cruise -free use of bicycles It’s a more expensive hotel but worth every penny.

The almgiving procession is just behind the hotel. Breakfast is excellent. Service is friendly and excellent.

The hotel is right next to the Mekong river, with breakfast served looking out on that view. Rooms have that old heritage colonial feel which gives a nod to times past! Staff were amazing and super friendly. I loved my stay!

- P Graydon (10/5): Gorgeous stay in a lovely setting. - The location of this hotel is exceptional - on the banks of the Mekong river with a lovely river view. The hotel itself is an old colonial building, lovingly restored for elegance and comfort. The staff were absolutely lovely - everyone from restaurant to front desk to cleaning staff went way out of their way to make our stay perfect. The included breakfast was a highlight of our day - fantastic latte, freshly made eggs to order with fresh croissant, pain au chocolat, fruit plate, bacon, freshly squeezed juice - it was an amazing feast with attentive service! Sitting on the restaurant terrace sipping our latte and eating our breakfast looking out over the Mekong River was the highlight of our day. Nothing! Everything was perfect.

- Amrita (9/5): Fabulous, can’t wait to go back! - Great location, in a quiet corner of town, but less than a 3 min stroll to all the action, and a 5-7 min stroll to the night market. The location overlooking the Mekong is great. The breakfast overlooking the Mekong is great, we also had lunch and dinner the hotel’s restaurant and the food is fabulous! The minibar was complimentary and they also offered a complimentary sunset cruise- nice little touches that we appreciated. They did our laundry and a small fee, and the clothes came back promptly and folded. Mr Somphone at the reception helped us book train tickets and he and the other staff were greats Nothing. It doesn’t have a pool but we didn’t miss it at all. We stayed in other places in Laos, and this was the absolute best. It’s perfect in every way

We picked this hotel online because the hotel that my wife had stayed at several years ago was fully booked. We read reviews, did some online research and chose the Belle Rive Hotel both for it's location and reasonable price. The location right across one street from the Mekong River was beautiful and it was very close to walking to everything in Luang Prabang. The room was expansive with windows looking out over the Mekong River. The breakfast included with the room stay was delicious; served in their restaurant overlooking the Mekong River. All of the staff that we encountered (especially Somphon at the front desk) were very friendly and spoke enough English for us to communicate well. We also had a two-hour evening sunset cruise on the Mekong River which was great. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying overnight in Luang Prabang.

Very well located to visit by foot all main sites of this peaceful and lovely town. The free bikes allow nice rides in the town , which is not too much crowdy. The ferry departure to cross the river is near to the hotel and the bike ride on the other side of the river to visit the other Wats is easy and nice. The hotel offers a lovely sunset cruise on the river. We enjoyed the restaurant for breakfast and diner with very well prepared and tasty meal. And don't forget to take the time to benefit from the relax zone just above their aromatic garden and the river . The room is perfect and big , with nice balcony. On top of that all team is so kind and helpful. We stayed 3 nights but would have enjoyed to stay longuer!

The free bicycles are nice to ride in the town streets which are not too much crowded and the access to the ferry to go across the rivers is not far from the hotel. On the otherside cycling is also nice on a cycling path to the other wat .The free sunset boat trip organised by the hotel was perfect. We enjoyed the restaurant for breakfast and diner with views on the river. And finally after your town tour take the time to benefit from their relax zone just above their aromatic garden. All team is very nice and helpful.Efficient and quick laundry. Nothing

- AzRat (10/5): This property exceeded our expectations - February - 2026. We had two stays bookending our time in Luang Prabang. So many great things to report. The staff was amazing, friendly, and helpful. The rooms were comfortable, the amenities great, breakfast on the terrace Mekong River side was a treat with an al a carte menu and great coffee. The location is very convenient for exploring the local area and very walkable to attractions, shopping, and cafes. We even received a complementary sunset Mekong River cruise. The property and surrounding area is very quiet at night and we slept well. This property shines bright as a true boutique lodging with very good service standards. Good Job!

We were served efficiently and warmly by NY a young waiter and LAE a young woman speaking both Lao and English with a bit of French. We took Pad Lao, a mix of vegetables, tiny noodles and meat and another plate and we were served a shot drink of liquor offered by the restaurant. I will definitely go back there before I leave!

Kai and Ken at reception were superb throughout, providing an excellent welcome and really good advice around activities, places to do, and the best time to do things, and they helped arrange things perfectly. The restaurant and staff there were brilliant, really delicious food, perfect riverside setting, and genuinely friendly staff. The location was ideal in the Old Town but quietly beside the river. The room was spacious, luxurious, and relaxed, and of course spotlessly clean. The daily fruit bowl refresh was a lovely touch! Really felt at home and part of the hotel family throughout - I was sad to leave and can’t wait to return!

- F4124BKperh (10/5): Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff - Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff Location good next to the river and a short walk to the night market. Breakfast excellent where you can order what you like from a menu so everything is freshly cooked. A big plus that you can have breakfast until 12PM and even later if you agree with the staff. Perfect to a morning activity and then enjoy a long and late breakfast overlooking the river. You can borrow bicycles for free to take a ride around town.

- Wilse01 (10/5): Fantastic Hotel - We had an amazing time at the Belle River. Firstly the colonial style hotel has a lovely location overlooking the Mekong in the fabulous resort of Luang Prabang. The rooms are of good size and decor although due to the single glazed windows and doors can be a little noisy at night. The breakfast and other meals are very nice and the staff very friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Khai for her perseverance with my train tickets and general help.

In die Altstadt von Luang Prabang sind es nur ein paar Schritte. Wir haben hier fünf Tage verbracht und diese Zeit sehr genossen. Die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich und wissen immer Rat für Ausflüge und Unternehmungen. Eine Bootsfahrt zum Sonnenuntergang gibt es kostenlos.

Wonderful central location, characterful (not chain) hotel, wonderful breakfast with possibly the best view in the whole of Luang Prabang, the rooms are charming, the staff are so helpful and cheerful. Hard to find any fault: they did fail to pick us up from the airport though we had booked their car, and their car took us to the falls and we had to wait a bit to get picked up. But these are minor issues, next time we come to LP we will definitely book to stay here. Highly recommended.

- MICHEL (10/5): Au top, cet établissement est sur le podium de notre voyage en Asie - Un merveilleux séjour dans ce charmant hôtel où tout était au top. Le personnel est très agréable et bienveillant. Dans le prix (un peu élevé) de la chambre est compris le mini bar, une croisière sur le Mékong avec une boisson par personne, vélos à disposition gratuitement. Des transats, un terrain de pétanque ... Le plus, un vrai bon petit déjeuner absolument délicieux pris en terrasse avec vue sur le Mékong ! Très bien situé, tout près du charmant centre ville de Luang Prabang. Un merci tout particulier au personnel d'avoir gardé nos bagages pendant 2 jours lors de notre escapade à Vang Vieng. Un établissement à recommander !

- Elizabeth (10/5): Reflecting Luang Prabang’s culture and heritage , Belle Rive is the perfect place. - Belle Rive is a haven within a haven. You already know that Luang Prabang has a beautiful culture where the people maintain such pride in being friendly, caring, and protective of their natural, built, and spiritual heritage. Belle Rive reflects all of those qualities in its very special space on the Mekong, with the cafe resting just above the relax garden. Actually, the relax garden is a place that most don’t visitors don’t seem to use, but honestly, it’s a gorgeous spot to have a Lao Beer on the lounges. We loved our home for the week, and we appreciated the staff helping us to participate in the alms giving with respect and care, providing us with a kit of items and explaining what to do and not to do.
- Lynne (8/5): A little treasure - The room we had ( coconut 2 ) had a fabulous view of the river and a balcony. My only issue would be the noisy guests next door on their balcony as we were almost connected. The terrace restaurant across the little road was perfect and the staff were extremely accommodating. Vee the manager provided us with all our needs, and put himself out to source our train tickets to Vang Vieng ( despite the train being completely full nearly all day) The hotel is a little pricier than adjacent hotels, but the service and consideration more than made up for this. I would highly recommend this little gem, loved the breakfast overlooking the river, freshly baked french patisserie and little touches that made it a very unique stay. - camilladaubeney1 (10/5): Exceptional Boutique Hotel - Magical Luang Prabang and the utterly wonderful Belle Rive. The Belle Rive is a quaint and charming retreat from the hustle and bustle of life, it is somewhere I visit again and again. Sitting on the banks of the Mekong in the old part of town, it is ideally situated for wandering around beautiful Luang Prabang - the temples, tourist attractions, coffee shops, restaurants, shops and so much more are all within easy walking distance. Tours to the Pak Ou Caves, the Waterfalls, the MandaLao Elephant reserve etc can all be arranged by the hotel, as can train tickets and private drivers, and there are bicycles you can borrow to enable you to go further afield.. The hotel also offers a free sunset cruise, which is not to be missed. The staff at the Belle Rive are exceptional - warm, friendly and very helpful. Everything is undertaken with a genuine smile and the desire to ensure that your stay in their beautiful part of Laos is the most enjoyable and relaxed that it can be. To give you an example, I am a Coeliac so have to eat Gluten free, they bent over backwards to accommodate my dietary requirements - they created a bespoke breakfast item for me, and the General Manager’s mother who was visiting from Switzerland kindly baked me gluten free bread - astonishing service and kindness that I challenge you to find elsewhere. During Covid, the Belle Rive were one of the few boutique hotels who managed to keep on all their staff (which says a lot about their ethics and the calibre of said staff and the management), they used the time to create a wonderful herb and vegetable garden on the banks of the river which supplies their kitchen, and they built a number of thatched huts next to the garden where you can either enjoy a massage or just lie and relax (with a coffee or drink) whilst watching life on the Mekong pass you by. They also wrote an illustrated book on the Flora & Fauna of Luang Prabang, which is a charming and informative read. The hotel has a selection of hand woven scarves and other items for sale in the lobby - these are created by the mother of one of the young ladies who works there, she grows the cotton, spins it, dyes it and then weaves it in a little village outside the town - these make wonderful gifts to take home. Breakfast, Lunch, Supper and drinks are all served on the terrace which sits on stilts above the Mekong - the views are dreamy and it is the most wonderful setting to enjoy their delicious food - all freshly cooked by a marvellous lady whose kitchen is just over the road. They serve traditional Lao Food, Thai Food and European dishes. They also have a fully stocked bar and offer Saffron Coffee (the best you will find in Laos).
- Cressida (9/5): - The staff were an amazing highlight of our visit - they were professional and helpful with excellent English. They helped arrange excursions, summoning tuk tuks or boats as needed. We used the free hotel bicycles to get around. The room was very comfortable with a nice view of the Mekong, good aircon and a very nice shower. Breakfast was an absolute highlight - served on the banks of the river with a multitude of choices on offer including excellent coffee, pastries, omelettes, etc, all brought on request. It's difficult to find anything to criticise. The only thing I can think to mention is that occasionally the staff got confused about our breakfast orders and missed something. But they were so good about bringing it when we asked that it feels churlish to complain.

Le personnel est très souriant et attentionné, le petit déjeuner est délicieux et varié, pris en terrasse face au Mékong L’emplacement est parfait pour découvrir la vieille ville, au calme, avec le terrain de pétanque, et des transats pour se détendre face au coucher de soleil et au magnifique potager. Les chambres sont aménagées avec goût et charme. Hautement recommandé !
- Lin (9/5): - Centrally located in the historical centra, the hotel has four beautiful French colonial houses. We have a room facing the Mekong river, which is absolutely beautiful. We loved the a la carte breakfast at the river front terrace. The room is clean and spacious and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is definitely beyond our expectations in Laos. Highly recommended! The floor is a bit slippery. TV is on demand, which is the hotel concept. A bit noisy sometimes since Chinese people were always singing in the boats on Mekong River.
- Malachias (10/5): Magnificent - This is an extraordinary charming and beautiful place. The building is a historical site, it's restaurant just across the street with magnificent view. They're also serving breakfast there between 7:30 a.m. and noon– you can order as much as you want and as often as you want. I could literally sit there for hours and watch the river. It couldn't be more beautiful and easy going! You can borrow bikes and E bikes for free and it is a good way to explore the surrounding of the city as well as the many sites within. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

Very accommodating, especially letting us have a very late checkout Bikes on the property for getting around town The rooms was great except the bed was in the loft and for a guy who makes many late night visits it was a little treacherous at the start. It all worked out and the beds were great

The staff and owner of the hotel are all warm and kind and are the shining star, while the perfect location and delicious food are also exceptional. The breakfast overlooking the Mekong was rhetorical perfect start to any day. Be sure to take the complimentary sunset boat ride. Also, the hotel arranged a private boat and car to the Kuang Si Waterfalls leaving from the hotel dock. Highly recommend this experience. Having to leave- wish we could’ve stayed longer.

C’est une splendide terrasse sur le Mékong où l’on commence la journée avec de merveilleux petits déjeuners. C’est une équipe très professionnelle, efficace , toujours souriante et aux petits soins( mention spéciale pour Vee et Somphone) .Ce sont de belles chambres décorées avec beaucoup de goût, une literie très confortable et une belle vue sur le Mékong. L’hôtel est extrêmement bien situé, en plein cœur de la ville avec plein de bons petits restos autour ( celui de l’hôtel est également excellent). This place is The Belle Rive Boutique Hotel in Luang Prabang. I have been to an uncountable number of hotels. But this one has it all... and it doesn't feel like a hotel... it has a soul, a heart, this is your home. Free bicycles, a free rivercruise, filled up mini bar, toiletries, amazing beds, good shower, delicious breakfast and relaxing sunbeds next to the river. The staff is professional, very kind and helpful. They grow their own veggies in the garden. I could go on ... but it's better that you discover it for yourself.
- Scenic36534710513 (10/5): Memorable Journey - It’s a calm and relaxing hotel with a beautiful view of the Mekong River. The location is perfect for exploring Luang Prabang on foot. All the hotel staff are friendly and sincerely helpful whenever you need advice. The restaurants recommended by the staff were all excellent. I’ll never forget the taste of Khao Soi, Luang Prabang sausage, and Beer Lao. The hotel also has good access to both the golf course and the waterfalls.

The Mekong River is just across the road. Visit their peace garden. Enjoy an evening cruise. Sit and relax in their bar and restaurant across the road. Damien and his staff could not have done more to make us feel at home.

We had a balcony, which we used to shelter from the heat in the afternoons. There is a lovely breakfast included, served in the terrace restaurant. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. We hope we can go back sometime.

- RitaV1025 (10/5): Our favorite spot in the whole of East Asia. - Beautiful setting, overlooking the Mekong river. Beautifully restored and furnished French Colonial Rooms. Fruit basket topped up daily and a lot of complimentry beers and drinks daily. Friendly, helpful English speaking staff. Restaurant for breakfasts (included) and dinner (not included) on the Mekong River. We will be back, for sure.
