Family Room Wheelchair Friendly
This wheelchair-friendly family room overlooks the garden and opens onto a wooden deck shared with the other family room. The room features a wheelchair accessible en suite shower and kitchenette. A ramp leads from the car park onto the deck with level entry into the room. Disabled guests have a choice of parking bay as we have mobile signs we erect as per guest's request.

We had brought precooked meals and we went out for dinner. Shower water was hot and the pressure was good. The size could be an issue for 'fussy' people, but it was absolutely perfect for us. We had wanted two single beds.

- Bridget (5/5): If the negative comments were resolved, we'd be happy to stay there again. - The venue does not provide meals. Numerous restaurants were within 10mins drive and shopping malls can be reached within minutes. The venue was in a quiet position and in a good suburb. The single beds had comfortable mattresses although we missed having a top sheet under the duvet. We felt at peace with the security gates and lighting. No animals were present, which was super as I have allergies with animal dander. The walls are thin and sleep was interrupted by general noise created by occupants residing on the other side of walls. Our host kindly accepted some suggestions to improve sound-proofing. Our room looked tired with peeling paint and some floorboards need attention by a carpenter. The costs for this shouldn't cost much and would be well worth the expense, however, obtaining 3 quotes from reputable repairmen would be wise. This was the first time we've had to pay the full cost upfront which almost caused us to cancel.

The lady who runs it was extremely kind and helpful, always ready to answer our questions and give useful tips. The location felt safe, and there were plenty of fun things to do in the area. From local attractions to nice places to eat, we never ran out of activities. Everything was easy to reach, which made our weekend even more enjoyable. Overall, we had a fantastic weekend and would definitely recommend Dempsey’s Self-Catering Guest House to anyone looking for a cosy and friendly place to stay.

- Linda (6/5): It was okay. - I was travelling a long distance to PE so I got caught up in the road issues and arrived late at night. They refused to open the gate when we arrive at the guest house, ignoring my call and reading my whatsapp messages but not responding, so we stayed an hour at the gate at night. Being a woman with children in the car I was sick worried given the reality of crime that we fear in our everyday lives in the streets of South Africa. Anyways through sending countless messages and continuously calling she gave up and eventually responded and opened the gate for us. Inside the guest house at the bathroom there were few buckets all over the place for us to save water from the shower and use it for flushing, and not flush the toilet unless it is really necessary. There is shortage of water in PE, we were told and I am not used to that problem so the reality of not flushing after using the toilet was very uncomfortable. Apart from that the rooms were in good standard.
