Guest Reviews
- Nina (10/5): Very nice people - Cozy

- Gillian (9/5): - Friendly staff. Clean, helpful with parking and some local events ( though didn't know about the one we were there for) Excellent breakfast.
I would stay here again We had the only room I think with our private bathroom separately to the room .
- Oz (9/5): - Great staff, who were happy to take our bags. Easy check in process. Lovely breakfast. Great value for money given the location near the centre of town, would highly recommend to any staying in Penrith. The bathroom fan was a bit loud (but could be turned off, so not a major issue).
- Georgina (8/5): -
- angela (8/5): Convenient close to all amenities great parking spot outside the property..!!! 😉 - Close to the town centre, lovely hosts, Nothing all good 😊
- Gbalchin (10/5): Lovely! - A b&b and feels like a home. It was very comfortable and pleasant to stay in. The owners are lovely and very helpful. They showed me where I needed to go and offered to store my things for the day even after I had checked out. Will definitely be back next time I need to stay in Penrith.
- Rudy (7/5): -
- Janice (8/5): All good will stay again - Breakfast was the best delicious
Warmly welcomed
Made to feel at home
- Hilary (8/5): Delicious breakfast served by wonderful hosts - The owners were extremely welcoming, lovely people.
The breakfast provided was excellent and could not have been bettered. As we booked fairly late the only twin room available was an attic room and although it had all the facilities it was a little cramped..
The single bed was a little uncomfortable with a very hard matress
Would certainly stay again but perhaps in a different room.
- Ioana (7/5): A pleasant stay, at a reasonable price, with attentive hosts. - We had a good stay at Tynedale Guest House. It's location was very convenient, just a short walk from the town centre so near lots of amenities and great to explore the shops and close to public transport links to the rest of the lake district. Parking was a bit tight, but you can't really help that in a town centre location and it was really convenient that it was right in front of the house so we didn't have to carry our luggage a long distance. The room and bathroom was clean and had all the amenities you could want. The private bathroom was on a different floor but that didn't bother us too much since there was a sink in the room. All 3 of us had a good nights sleep and considering it was an attic room it wasn't too cold or noisy. The hosts were very welcoming and attentive, answered all our questions and cooked a very good full English; the eggs and bacon were cooked to perfection and the mushroom was one of the tastiest I have had! The decor is a bit dated but kept in good shape so I found it adds to charm of the stay, especially as I was staying with my cousin from abroad so it was nice for her to see what a cosy English house looks like, much better than staying at a generic hotel. Overall we had a good a good stay and I think for a really reasonable price. I was surprised that the bathroom wasn't on the same floor as the room but it wasn't much of an issue for us, but perhaps it could be added to the room description (or made more obvious as I didn't notice it anywhere if it was mentioned) in case it would pose an issue for others.
Since we stayed in an attic room the headroom was a bit low, it wasn't an issue for us at 5 4" but it may be if you were taller.
The room and property was on the chillier side, it was an unseasonably cold day (zero degrees overnight in April), we slept fine with the blankets provided but you did need to wear a jumper inside to be comfortably warm. We did stay with some friends who had a double room on the first floor and they were cold all night and hardly got 4 hours sleep due to this. The heating system is old and doesn't have any thermostatic radiator valves so you can't adjust the temperature. I didn't take their experience into account when giving the ratings so they aren't skewed if they also write a review but thought to mention it in case they don't, you may want to bring thick pyjamas.
Our room being a loft conversion did mean two flights of steepish stairs so if you have a lot of heavy luggage you may want to take this into account.

- Marc (10/5): -
- Attila (10/5): - Everything was ok. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave me an extra electric heating to dry my running clothes. The breakfast was delicious.
- Kim (8/5): Inexpensive bed and breakfast. Clean and very friendly. - The property was in a great location. The room was comfortable. They had a double and a single pushed into the room, so a little crowded but we were happy to have everyone in one room. Breakfast was great. The walls were a bit thin, but our neighbors were well behaved so not too bad.
- David (8/5): - Conveniently located in walking distance to town centre. Has parking. The proprietors were very friendly, and made us feel at home. Great breakfast for four hungry cyclists!
- Christine (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (9/5): - Near to bar and restaurant Very friendly people
- Juliet (1/5): Dreadful-avoid it. - The staff were friendly and helpful, if a little vague. Parking was easy too. Oh dear, this place is gloomy with dated, mismatched decor. Parts of the rooms were stained and dirty looking, the shower sealant was really black and mouldy, towels very hard, lamphade (Room 3) still in its plastic wrapper and fag ends floating in an ashtray outside the back door. Breakfast was basic, my grilled tomatoes were charcoal, I did say to the owner they were burned, she didn't seem very interested and returned from the kitchen saying 'he says they're grilled tomatoes, that's how they are'. This place is overpriced and dismal, avoid it. I can't understand all the good reviews, we won't be back.

- Angus (10/5): Greeted by friendly, very helpful staff. Awesome breakfast - Clean and tidy
- Emma (10/5): A great B&B - thank you so much! - We arrived later than planned but had called ahead and told it was no problem. Wewere able to park directly outside the door. A lovely welcome - super friendly hosts, we stayed in the family room with a double and 2 singles and had a great nights sleep and a fab full English set us up for a long day of walking around Ullswater! Big thank you! Nothing at all - it was all as described and perfect for a nights stop over! Thankyou!!

- Janet (7/5): -
- Janet (10/5): Comfortable, friendly, I would happily stay again - Breakfast was more than I could eat 😀 fresh and tasty. The hosts were extremely friendly and allowed me to leave my car in their car park in the morning so that I could explore the town.
Room was good, I knew I was in the attic, but plenty of space and a fan provided as the weather was warm. Tv & good tea/ coffee making facilities with biscuits. Very handy stop off for my trip Scotland to Lincoln. Nothing
- Kerry (10/5): - We were very kindly upgraded to the best room. The cooked breakfast was perfect done.
- Paul (7/5): Convenient for the Lake District or stop off if traveling further north. - Friendly and warm welcome. Close to all the local facilities. Easy walking into the main town of Penrith. Bathroom was separate to the main bedroom, although we did have exclusive access to it. Decorations were a bit tired and could do with a refresh. Very clean though.
- Brenda (6/5): Passable with helpful hosts - Breakfast ok The room in attic was shabby, folding toilet door did not close. I messaged to ask about parking with no reply. However host helpful with on street parking. My bed needed replacing!
- Harriette (9/5): -

- Daniel (9/5): Very pleasant and good value. Would return to the property. - Breakfast was great. The owners were very pleasant and talkative. Very helpful with securing our cycles overnight. Gave good advice on where to visit in town. No negative points at all.
- Paul (10/5): - Lovely owners, couldn't do enough to help and make our stay enjoyable. Bikes stored in the shed, allowed us to eat our Chinese in the accomodation and provided plates for us to use too. Everything was fine!
- Mark (6/5): - Host was really helpful and friendly and was able to accommodate nearly breakfast. We were able to store our bikes securely. Decor could perhaps do with a freshen up.
- MICHAEL (9/5): A great B&B in Penrith! - Lovely friendly welcome, help gladly given, secure parking for my motorbike, very comfortable attic room with effective fan system, a great pub about five minutes walk away, and a wonderful breakfast!! Could I want anything more from a night stop? ;-) Nothing at all.
- David (8/5): -
- Nico (8/5): -
- Kujawska (9/5): -
- Lynn (7/5): It’s convenient and reasonably priced. - Owners very friendly and private car park a bonus. The property could really use an upgrade.
Electrical sockets not in the right place to use a hairdryer, behind the bed, so bit of a struggle to reach.
- Helen (5/5): -
- Susanna (8/5): -
- Nicola (8/5): Very close to Penrith town centre - A very friendly welcome and table service for a good breakfast The decor was a bit tired and shabby in places
- Kris (9/5): - Staff very helpful and welcoming
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Anton (9/5): -
- SUSAN (7/5): Welx - The idea of a priivate bathroom
- Nichola (8/5): Would stay here again. - The owners are absolutely wonderful. Warm and welcoming! Nothing for the price it was great.
- Jones (9/5): -
- Rona (9/5): - Excellent breakfast.
Lovely friendly helpful hosts.
- charlie (10/5): -
- Riekje (9/5): -
- Levy (10/5): -
- Dave (8/5): Comfortable and friendly, good value. - Friendly, Homely, This is what a bed and breakfast should be. The owners couldn't have been kinder, and hovered around breakfast offering more juice and. More tea and coffee. The room itself was comfy, if a little bit faded. Parking was on the street just outside, and overall for the price, it was great value. If you're looking for somewhere where you actually meet the owners and it's quite friendly and supportive, this is the place for you. The worst in March really. The shower was one of those electric ones which are in full power. Went very hott, then very cold and then very hot again. I was at the front of the property and there is a bit of Rd noise. Otherwise it was fine.
- Kelsey (10/5): -
- Elliott (10/5): -
- Doris (10/5): -
- Jeremy (7/5): Cozy stay and hospitable hosts - would stay again. - Easy checking in and we could leave our bags before and after. Location was central and quiet. Beds were comfortable and the room had a large fan to keep us cool. Cozy space to relax. The topmost room in the attic had rafters to watch out for and light fixtures that easily catch your head if taller.
- Eugen (9/5): Nette Gastgeber, geschützter Parkplatzbereich - Sehr nette Gastgeber Teppich im Bad ist gewöhnungsbedürftig
- Cathy (5/5): -
- Cheryl (8/5): - Hosts really friendly and attentive Bed was a little hard for my liking but that is a personal preference.
- Laura (8/5): Lovely friendly good value guesthouse with a great breakfast! - - Fantastic breakfast and very friendly attentive owner.
- Very quiet tidy house
- Very close to the centre of town, pubs and restaurants
- great value for money
- room was a perfect temperature! The mattress on my bed (right hand one in attic room) was a bit old and starting to sag in the middle, maybe time to change it!
- Craig (10/5): Really lovely people. - Lovely hosts, especially in accommodating my need to store my bicycle. Breakfast could have been better but adequate.
- Kerel (8/5): - Lovely greeting and very accommodating, helping with queries. Pillows seemed to be hard. Person next to us was noisy and I could hear a squeaking noise, waking me up, until about midnight from that person in tge room next to us. It wasn't good.
- Amanda (10/5): -
- Geoffrey (10/5): -
- Jason (8/5): - Lovely hosts very welcoming room was clean, breakfast was very good location was only a short stroll into the town 5 mins
- richard (10/5): -
- Caroline (7/5): Overall a fine place for a night - Owners were friendly. Breakfast was fine. Bed was comfortable. Super nice to have the little cookies in the bedroom. I found the bathroom not the cleanest (shower mat with a lot of stains, tile joints with some mold in the shower and also the syphon had a few long hair in it).
- KaPow666 (10/5): Brilliant host, we'll return! - Excellent host, nothing was too much trouble, and they ensured my entire family was happy. Breakfast was delicious and very homely. The host was very attentive, took in my youngest wishes, and double-checked we were all happy. Recommendations for local amenities and restaurants were very helpful. Penrith is a lovely town with lots to do and see!
