- Jeremy (10/5): - The building is beautiful and they did such a nice job with the rooms. My wife and I explored the hallways just looking at the artwork and the architecture. There are all these cute little alcoves and such. And the bed. It was a little hard but still comfortable enough to sleep on. My wife and I have done a lot of traveling in the past year or so and it seems like everyone just gets rock hard beds. Loved it. The shower made a mess. It has glass doors, very nice but it got water all over right outside the door.

Love the historical rehabilitation and the information on the early inhabitants of the asylum. Bedroom had 20 foot ceilings and a very cozy feeling. I would have liked a grab bar in the bathtub shower.

Andra dagen togs beställning på pannkakor igen, 10 minuter senare kom de på att den var slut även denna dagen. Istället beställdes youghurt, efter ytterligare 10 minuter kom man på att även den var slut. Helt klart inte värt att äta frukosten på hotellet!

- Joseph (10/5): - The Richardson is a unique hotel as it is one of HH Richardsons architectural masterpieces that was fortunately saved from the wrecking ball and is gradually being restored for various uses, the Hotel being the first of those. It is luxury priced but you are really paying to live in a piece of history. The breakfast is a simple continental, and the restaurant that used to be in the building is closed, but plenty of dining & shopping options are steps away in Elmwood. The decor with all of the historical photos plus the architectural museum on the lower level is excellent. A place you need to stay in at least once. We normally stay at my cousin’s but since we weren’t able to on this trip, we chose the Richardson.

- Michael (6/5): - I liked the historic feel of the building; it has an old-world charm, if slightly rundown. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the rooms were spacious. I splurged on a suite, and due to travel slowdowns, checked in at 11 p.m. The bar was already closed, and the offerings from their "store" were extremely limited, and there were no close convenience stores or restaurants near the location. In the morning, I went to use the in-room coffee machine pod set up that was on a bar in the living room, but not only was it not plugged in, it was far away from any usable outlet. Also, when I went to use the iron and ironing board, the board was out of sorts and needed to be repaired. I hope they can make some thoughtful adjustments to ensure their rooms are fully ready in the future.

- Lisa (10/5): - Thank you to the staff and management at the Richardson Hotel. I had a medical emergency my first night and they were helpful and considerate being the go between for us and EMS. After returning to the hotel they checked in on my well being and when feeling better I throughly enjoyed my stay. Thank you for being more than just staff but caring, empathetic individuals. The Richardson is a beautiful hotel . 20 foot ceilings and 3 inch wood doors virtually sound proof. The hotel is an architectural masterpiece surrounded by history. Elmwood/Forest Ave has everything a Buffalonian like me or visitor could ever want. Food/ shopping/nightlife or just sights. Liquor license and restaurant on grounds we will be retuning for the holidays. Thank you again for making our stay enjoyable despite the circumstances.

There was also only a community refrigerator which made it difficult for medication purposes and that was also not disclosed. The staff was beyond amazing and so accommodating it made the experience perfect from that perspective.

- Lisa (8/5): Nice hotel - This is a beautifully restored property that was comfortable. My only issue was navigating around it since at times it was confusing going between the wings of the hotel. The continental breakfast the next morning was a little underwhelming since it was nearly empty - coffee included by 9 am. The staff was friendly and pleasant and very helpful.

- Jobsg (10/5): Lovely, stately, affordable architectural gem of a hotel - We booked a suite and stayed for two nights at the Richardson. We loved it. Our standard king suite was huge, very quiet, comfortable and a great value for the price. The staff we interacted with were pleasant. The building itself is an architectural gem and it was fascinating to see the unrestored areas of the old asylum juxtaposed with the renovated hotel. Our only (minor) complaint was that the shower needs either a longer shower curtain, or a raised tile rim to keep water from flooding into the main bathroom area. Daniela, a fantastic Italian restaurant/wine bar is right across the street on the hotel's backside. The start of the Elmwood District with lots of restaurants (and Tipico, a cute coffee cafe/roaster) are also all within a couple of blocks so there were plenty of options close by for food/drink. Finally, it's also within close walking distance to the AKG museum and Delaware Park.

I loved the high ceilings and the fact that there was a gym right in the building. We stayed there to attend a concert, which was just a walk down the street. Everything was so clean, safe, close to shopping and restaurants, and literally perfect. We will definitely be back!
- 888rsl (6/5): Spectacular building - too bad the entire experience wasn't spectacular. - The building and its history are amazing. The room was well appointed and quiet. And that's where it ends. Staff were indifferent or harried. The restaurant and lounge/bar are not in service - though when we booked they appeared on the web page and are still listed under amenities. Good luck finding a place nearby to walk to! Breakfast was included - I've stayed at budget hotels with far superior offerings for breakfast. They had bread, croissants, butter, cream cheese and granola. No toaster. No bagels. Not even a knife. No yogurt. No fruit. So our option was semi-fresh bread with a pad of butter spread with a spoon. I hope the hotel can turn things around. It really is a spectacular building.

The staff was very helpful and the room was clean and beautiful. We had a great time just walking around the building. The room was well appointed and clean. - Monica (5/5): A 3star hotel in a mental facility - The Hotel is part of a mental health facility. It is the old mental health house for the state of NY and it is surrounded by mental health buildings. The hotel provides no food, no water.
