Guest Reviews
- Dalasack (10/5): -
- Rod Leonard (9/5): Our great retreat in Luang Prabang. - Our stay was short but very rewarding. Could not fault the property. Tony, the manager, bent over backwards to offer what he could to make our stay even better. Full marks Tony. Location to all facilities on the river front was great, 100 metres then the options were in front of you. Our only negative comment, if there had to be one, was the hardness of our bed. Probably a personal judgement but both of us felt the same. Otherwise a very enjoyable stay. Our only "dislike" as mentioned was the bed in our room was particularly firm to the point of being uncomfortable.
- Bính Lý (10/5): - Sạch, dịch vụ tốt
- Athanasios (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and very clean, and in a great location. The breakfast was also very good.
- Thanh (10/5): - Position and the personal of hotel
- Carl-Uwe (9/5): - Tony, the staff at reception, was extraordinarily friendly, helpful and reliable. He organised our slowboat trip and considered all our special wishes. He treated us very attentive and his warm smile made us feel very welcome. Thank you!
- gilles (10/5): Très bon choix on recommande.
- Roy (5/5): - Balkon waardeloos, ontbijt minimaal, prijs kwaliteit verhouding waardeloos.
- Annika (10/5): - Great location, very nice staff
- Aleksander (9/5): -

- Bettina (9/5): Wonderful stay in a central, beautiful hotel - Wonderful small hotel in a quiet side road, very centrally located. You can watch the almsgiving in the morning from the balcony. The room has everything needed and breakfast you will get freshly prepared individually with a nice choice and great quality. Tony, the host, is wonderful and helps with whatever question. Fairly thin walls, you hear the neighbors, but I guess that is the same in all other hotels too
- Andrea (9/5): - Very helpful staff, friendly, you can see the monks from the balcony..morning and night market in walking distance
- konfidence joe (8/5): - Personel tres agreable.. Petit dejeuner correct..
- Moyra (8/5): - Simple guest house. Really good Location. Staff very nice. Perfect for a couple of nights stay. Balcony a plus!
- Taylor (9/5): - Excellent and personal service from Tony at the front desk. Quiet area but very close to the main (for tourists) drag. Really nothingu
- Anett (9/5): - Mitarbeiter Hilfsbereit, freundlich, zuverlässig: top
- Axel (9/5): - Sehr freundlicher und hilfsbereiter Besitzer++++
Kaffee und Früchte gibt es zu jederzeit. Kleines Bad/WC
- Patricia (10/5): Great location and breakfast choices and quiet. - Convenient. Close to everything I wanted to do. People are extremely helpful. Breakfast is a treat because you have pages of choices instead of the same eggs and toast. The fruit bowl was really good. I walked to everything. One block to the river. .5 miles to the night market. I met someone on the boat trip from Chiang Khong. She was staying on the road next to the river. I saw her the next day. She was looking for another place to stay because she said it was too loud at night. I had no problems in my place. It was one street back from the river and two streets from the main street. After 8pm was very quiet. Added bonus is about 6:00 am the Monks came by my patio for Sai Bat morning alms. You can buy rice to place in the baskets but I handed out bananas. I asked the hotel first if this was OK. The mattress was not the best but I expect that so I am never upset or disappointed.
Pessoal super prestativo, cordial e atencioso.
- Murphy (9/5): -
- dominique (10/5): Exceptionnel - Tony and Bee sont exceptionnels.4 jours passés dans cet établissement remarquable. Tout était parfait. MERCI De partir...
- Orsolya (8/5): - Everything was great, simple and nice accommodation

- delfgayet (8/5): -
- cameron (8/5): Had a great time staying here loved the location, staff and breakfast special shout out to Tony on the front desk nice b - Fantastic location
- Ronny (10/5): -
- Jacky (10/5): It was nice . Located in the middile of downtown - The owner is nice . Accompany us so well during the stay
- Viewfrom360 (10/5): Better than expected - This was the first good night's sleep I had in a week. I had just come from Vietnam and my throat was bothered by the seasonal smog so I came to Laos earlier than planned for better air quality. I was nervous to book hotels in Laos after reading reviews of other hotels' scams where people check in and there's no room available and they're shuffled to another place or not given the room they booked. Fortunately, I had a really positive experience here at Villa Champa. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and firm, and the bathroom was spacious, fresh and dry (a pleasant delight after coming from other places where the bathrooms were wet and musty without proper ventilation). Tony at the check in desk is very helpful. He booked me transport to Nong Khiaw for the same-day upon request and offers tours and money exchange as well at common rates. The breakfast is yummy and filling and they provide free coffee, tea, water, and juice with breakfast. Coffee, tea, and bottled water are also free in your room. This was a better experience than I expected. I was quite comfortable. I know many reviews out there are fake, so I didn't want to give 10 stars because I frankly don't read those, assuming they're not real. However, this hotel deserves it, because of their friendly service and legit business. They let you pay by Kip, USD cash, or credit card. The credit card has a 4% processing fee from the bank which is normal. I've read other reviews where people don't understand this business practice. This is common in the US too, it's just that those fees are usually included in the total price. There was nothing I didn't like about this stay, I'm just writing in this section so that travelers read this and recognize it's a real review.
- Borup nr1 (7/5): Nice basic hotel. - Nice and clean. Basic but functional. Good location near Mekong river. A little terrace outside the room with street view overlooking the monks mornig walk. Would be better if there were possible to buy a soda or beer in the reception.
- Sinkover (10/5): Luang prabang
Prabang 4 day stay - The villa is familly run. Tony the husband and the keeper of this property is kind helpful attentive . The tour he organized for me ,water fall + cave was great. Enjoyed my stay a lot.
Great location . Be aware of the monks food parade at 6.45 am it may cause a bit of noise by the outside watchers. .
- Tischer (10/5): -
- Wanda (7/5): An excellent location in LP with a little bit of old world charm - Tony at the front desk was kind and attentive from the first moment of check in. We wanted to find a particular item in Luang Prabang and even though he was going off his shift and did not know the answer, he tracked down the information we needed and came to our room to be sure we received it. He continued to be warm and accommodating on every encounter. The room was clean and the bathroom had plenty of hot water with good water pressure. A nice plate of fruit and eggs are offered at breakfast The bathroom was quite dated and needs an upgrade with stained grout and rust in places. A busy road in the mornings and afternoon but does quieten down at night although there can be hall noise from the neighbours. The breakfast was uninspiring with the usual dry white toast, hot dog meat and tepid coffee.
- Simon (8/5): -
- Carlo (10/5): - great staff. Late to the breakfast they arranged me a good solutiom
- Tina (7/5): Compact room in great location - Great location for a great price. Room for that price was very small but had everything you needed. I didn’t like that one window didn’t have a blind or curtain but other than that, all good.
- Dyland (10/5): Highly Recommend - I would love to return Champa Villa soon , They in great location , room very clean , breakfast was good and there is a guy at frontdesk very helpful
- Michael (10/5): Great stay, great location - Great hotel with the best location, close to all the places that you need to visit. Upon our arrival, we received a wonderful welcome from the guy at the front desk (a Vietnamese guy sorry I couldn’t remember your name). He has every attention, listen carefully and found the best solution to our request. For us nothing we don’t like
- Jessica (10/5): - This is boutique hotel located in the center. The rooms is nice and clean, it’s convenient to walk around. The staff is professional, they could help us to book tours, bus or train tickets. We highly recommended
- cotterilla (10/5): - Good location, nice rooms and helpful staff.
Parasols hors d’usage
- Pierre (7/5): - Le lieu L’entretien plomberie
- John (9/5): Superb - Situated between the river and night market street made it an ideal location. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There was a very good free breakfast. Ideal location to walk to the majority the tourist highlights. My 2nd stay and would use Villa Champa again
- Anh (10/5): Best hotel in town - Right heart of the old town. Breakfast included in the price, they very helpful to us. We love to return
- Chandarak (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrick (8/5): Very good - Really friendly atmosphere and quaint. Good size room and value for money. Great shower. Rock hard beds.
- David (6/5): Pleasant but disorganised - Breakfast Ok Location good. Staff pleasant. Staff lacked organisation. Had to get help via WhatsApp. Things not clearly explained
- Georgia (10/5): Incredible - Amazing help with everything I needed
- Robert (8/5): good stay - Great location
- Nancy (6/5): - Close to the night market, local foods near by
- Rawahy (9/5): no - location very very good
everything walking around
good stuff
good price very old towels need to Cheng
- Weidong (10/5): Exceptional -
- Devin (10/5): Wonderful getaway! - Loved the location and the staff! Breakfast was delicious. A little too early for me (7-930) but it was worth it. The room was clean enough. There is vegetation all around, bugs are expected. Lizards/geckos like to make an appearance as well. Spacious for one, loved the area and lobby. There is a lot nearby within walking distance. Would come back and recommend. Great value! Nothing.
- Gemma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Von (6/5): - It's a typical Luang Prabang hotel/hostel. Price is excellent with breakfast included. Overall condition is ok. If you like to sleep in, it's not the hotel for you because the host/staffs get up very early like 5-6am. It can get noisy.
- Quek (8/5): Very good - Location and easy Breakfast and noise
- Simo88ne (7/5): Good - Nice position, clean, cozy !
- Mol (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristen (8/5): Great location in decent hotel - Great location in the Old Town. The hotel had a nice vibe being an old house with a nice wood floor. Breakfast was fine - either noodle soup, eggs and bread, or fried rice with coffee/tea and juice, although a bit small in size. There was construction going on outside the hotel for days and it was loud. A consequence was that the water was shut off during the day for two days. While not the hotel's fault, it would have been good to know so we could plan around it. We asked the person manning the reception desk about train and bus tickets, and found out the next day that he forgot. When he did inquire into tickets, the prices he quoted were much higher than shops on the street. While the hotel was a nice old house, the walls were thin and it was a bit loud until about 10pm. Beds were fine but a little old and soft.
- Terry (2/5): - Housekeeping stole money from me twice. Lost several hundred dollars. They also took my friend’s insulin out of the refrigerator and threw it out. They of course took no responsibility. Additionally, they didn’t put us in the hotel we reserved. The room we stayed in was down a small alley and not as nice with no tv. Beware
- Elizabeth (10/5): Delightful. We highly recommend! - Wonderful location near the river, temples, markets, and more. We walked everywhere and rented bikes for a ride out of town!
Our host was very kind and helpful. and The breakfasts included were exceptional (choices from a menu). Not one thing.
- Nissoka (8/5): Very good - This charming boutique hotel boasts an unparalleled location, conveniently placing all major attractions within a delightful stroll. Offering budget-friendly tour packages to distant tourist gems, it caters to adventure seekers. The staff epitomizes kindness, courtesy, and attentiveness, providing a seamless and enjoyable experience. The breakfast, curated from an à la carte menu, delights the taste buds. Despite aging infrastructure, the UNESCO world heritage facilities justify every penny spent. Without a single complaint, my stay was an absolute pleasure.
- Saeng (7/5): Average Facility, Attentive hosts/staff - Breakfast was normal for what you get all over Laos: choice of rice soup, or eggs plus fresh fruit, slices of white bread and a fruit smoothie. The smoothies were not overly sweet which is good.
Location was excellent for walking to Mekong, Nam Khan, night market, morning market, shops, etc.
Quiet location most of the day.
Villa Champa is run by a Vietnamese family who live on site. They make the breakfast, book the train tickets, etc. When our group had to leave early they staff got up and made baguette egg sandwiches in time for our departure. This was much appreciated. The rooms were on the expensive side for what we got- one room was barely big enough for a queen bed, another room opened right onto the main lobby, one room had pigeons nesting in the ceiling which made a lot of noise (scratching, cooing, moving around, etc). Beds were rock hard. Toilet flushed, but the button to push had fallen inside the top, making it hard to flush. Only two outlets in the room- one was taken up by the refrigerator, the other one had lamps plugged in to it so my partner and I could not even charge our phones at the same time.
Note: the hotel is on a street where thousands of people make offerings to the monks daily from 5-6am. If you're into that sort of thing you will like the location of this hotel. If you are not into it, or want to sleep and have a quiet morning forget it- hundreds of people will walk by talking loudly and vans will be driving by bringing tourists to the area before 6:30am.
We were not very impressed with Villa Champa facility (noisy am and very average kind of rooms for the price) however the owners/staff went out of their way to help our group and that balances the poor facilities.
- Roelof (4/5): Would be quite good hotel if it was not located in a noisy neighborhood. - Very central location in the historic part of town. It is an old wooden house but that means smallish rooms.
Good wifi, good TV with english channels.
AC good. Shower good. Good service manager. Noise from the busy street, so i moved to a room in the back. That room however had continuous noise from a waterpump. A small breakfast area and a simple breakfast.
- Jens (8/5): River view - Close to everything and river view A bit old , worn out
- Mark (10/5): Nice hotel, Good location and Good service. - We like to staying at this hotel very much.
Room was very nice, quiet, clean and big room. This hotel is at centre place with good location and very easy for walking to night market, Royal palace , Phousi mountain view point, Morning market or local market of Luangprabang and many beautiful heritage temples around here. The staff and owner were very friendly, good service and very helpful . They can help us to booking the tour and train tickets service. The breakfast was very delicious . Everything was perfect! Nothing
- Ken (10/5): Everything good 😊 -
- Mr.su (10/5): the greatness of villa Champa it is a very good villa and near the center near services everything from management to f - Very good
- Mark (1/5): Never trust the operators of Villa Champa Hotel… never - Nothing Of my 12 nights in Luang Prabang, Villa Champa was by far my worst accommodations experience. I was to stay four nights and only stayed one, and barely slept that one due to horrible noise from the room next door. But the stay started badly at check-in when the owner or manager quizzed me about my room needs despite my reserving their largest room, a corner room with king bed and twin bed. He was asking me so that he could resell that room, and that is what he tried to do. I checked in early and came back from my day’s activities to find that I had been put in the smaller king room with just one king bed. Attempted theft is the same as theft, and that is what Villa Champa did: they tried to steal from me and then denied their attempted theft, but finally admitted it. But as with all perpetrators, they blame their victims, and that is what Villa Champa did to me. They got angry at me for not accepting being fine with the smaller, less expensive room than the one I booked (it also had fewer amenities) and their behavior of attempted theft, and had the audacity to get angry with me. The manager/owner’s wife actually yelled at me, and in my presence, they were speaking to each other about me in a language I could not understand. This was all after my belongings were moved to the room I reserved and the manager/owner apologized saying that he thought “I would not mind” because I was just one person.
The guests who checked into the room they were going to give me numbered four, checked in late (about 10pm) and got up early (about 5am) and made tremendous noise both when they checked in and when they checked out. That room measured less than 250sqft, and the room I reserved about 450sqft. Now the motivation for Villa Champa’s behavior becomes more clear… but I reserved the room!
It is impossible to trust Villa Champa, impossible, after these experiences, and I doubt I was treated differently than anyone, nor will you.
