It is well placed not too close and not too far from the city. • sachinbokil (8/5): Le Pondy- Amazing Property - Le Pondy is located on outskirts of Pondicherry and guests have access to their provivate beach. Its a nice, quiet property and you wont feel like going out for anything. This is the place if you want to spend relaxed time. We had a sea view room with a seperate Sit out which was amazing. Rooms were clean with all amenities. Since we went during eak season room rates were slighly higher, but I would still say it was value for money spent. Resturant serves delicious food and special mention of Bala Murugan (F&B Manager) who took special care of our taste and as a special gesture arranged a cake and nice decor for Bday celebration. Overall a very good experience and I would definitely recommend this property.

We traveled in comfort, and the resort matched our expectations perfectly. We arranged a special candlelight dinner setup for our celebration, which cost around 4,000 rupees, and it was absolutely worth it. Just a heads-up: there may be additional charges, so it’s best to confirm all the details in advance. Although we didn’t get the villa we wanted, we thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and the service. Mr. Bala in the restaurant was incredibly helpful and made our experience even more memorable. Overall, the stay was delightful, and I highly recommend Le Pondy for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

• Dhinesh-Sivasankar (10/5): Wonderful Family Get-together at Le Pondy - We had hosted a family get-together day event today at Le Pondy for 40 members & it turned out to be such a memorable day for our whole family.. I need to call out the professionalism from the team especially I have been in touch with Balamurugan (F&B mgr) who assisted me with all the booking including the banquet hall, food menu for the lunch we hosted today...Balamurugan is a great asset to the Le Pondy management team - he was so easy to co ordinate, communicate all details and he worked in good cohesiveness with his entire team so well.. We didnt face any glitch today.. All members liked the food presented today especially the Mutton Biryani and Chicken Chettinad gravy to name a few.. The banquet hall was so nice with perfect lighting, comfortable seating and the audio/mic were all working seamlessly for the events we planned.. Overall, LePondy environment inside the resort was well maintained and plush with good natural touch in the entire property. I would defintely recommend Le Pondy to anyone who wishes to host their family functions and get-together.. The resort, staff & food all together was top notch..!!
• tripsterprafull (2/5): Indian travelers should seriously boycott this resort - Absolutely disgraceful experience with Le Pondy Resort. This resort has blatantly cheated us. We specifically booked and paid for sea-facing rooms, yet our Indian guests were deliberately pushed into ground-floor rooms opening into a lawn with ZERO sea view. This is nothing short of deception. What’s even more shameful is the clear and unacceptable discrimination—all the proper first-floor sea-facing rooms were conveniently allotted to foreigners, while Indian guests were treated as second-class customers. This kind of biased and unethical behavior is intolerable. Le Pondy Resort clearly does not respect Indian travelers or travel professionals. Their false promises, unfair room allocation, and discriminatory practices expose their true standards. Indian travelers should seriously boycott this resort. If you value honesty, dignity, and fair treatment, stay far away from Le Pondy Resort. Totally unprofessional, misleading, and unacceptable.

We stayed for 2 days in the presidential suite. We booked 3 rooms . Front office Deva and the F&B Bipin made our stay so special and they arranged a beautiful dinner party for us by the pool and the food was amazing as we requested for a vegan special.. each and every dish was so delicious.. thanks again to Bipin as he took extra care to prepare all the dishes we requested and make the evening an unforgettable experience with all the decorations and lighting . We will definitely recommend the resort to our friends and family 👍

The artificial lagoon needs some maintenance as the water is moldy. The rooms are spacious with nice views. The food is decent. Breakfast spread is fair enough. The check-in and check-out experience was not very smooth. The requests which are put well in advance are not entertained and not taken care of. Pool is very nice, clean and well maintained. Restaurant staff and housekeeping staff are very hardworking. Resort is far from main city so if you are expecting easy access to prime city locations like white-town and promenade then this resort is not advisable. If you want a good family time with beach access and nice pool, then this is a perfect place to stay. Overall a good place to stay in Pondicherry.

• 665pramodg (10/5): Beautiful beach resort with great food - My wife and I stayed at the Le Pondy for two nights to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The resort is lovely, nicely landscaped, right on the beach which is quite clean and quite private. The food at the resort is outstanding especially the local non vegetarian fare. The staff is courteous and efficient. Special mention to Pinki Gogoi at the restaurant and Densingh at the bar. They went out of their way to make our stay memorable. The only negative could be the location - it is 20-30mins from the White town or French quarters where all the restaurants and cafes are. However, this is still better than staying at any of the heritage places in White town as it gets very busy and noisy with a lot of local and touristy traffic there. We enjoyed the quiet and peace of Le Pondy and shuttled into White town for a couple of meals to get the best of both worlds.

Discourteous in room dining staff. No resort activities. Only restuarent staff is good. It is basically good for beach. Way to resort is muddy and bad. Lot of traffic right in front of resort. No driver dormitory. I am highly unsatisfied with my stay. Will never recommend or visit again.

• murugan7 (2/5): Horrible property run by worst front office staff - The property is stunning but the front office staff was rude and the duty manager Mr. Abraham was physically violent and threatening. In 30 years of travelling for business and work this has never happened to me. I am still shaking and had to call chase preferred to move to me to a different hotel. Stay away from this property if you are an American. I wrote a complaint for the GM Vipin Das who’s on vacation now. I am speaking to the American consulate in Chennai and filing a police complaint. Bad bad bad property. Stay away
• stanopoulos (8/5): Great choice for a resort spa outside Pondicherry - Le Pondy is about 30 minutes south of Pondicherry and not easy to travel to or from the city without a car or taxi - it is in an isolated resort area next to a fishermen's village on the beach. If you're looking for a calm resort with great food and service, this is your place. The rooms are very nicely designed with front and back verandas, some with private pool. Bathrooms are luxe with walk in rain showers. The resort villas are in traditional South Indian style with thatched roofs and a long fish pond with lilies runs along the length of the resort. The grounds are well kept inside the resort. The restaurant food is excellent and the thrice daily buffet provides great value, although the repetitive muzak is rather off-putting. The swimming pool is certainly long but can get busy with families at times - in the morning and evening (<7pm) are quieter. The private beach is pleasant but the sea is dangerous for swimming because of the invisible shelf and undertow, there is a lifeguard on duty. Beyond the boundaries of the private beach, the sand is littered with garbage so a long walk is impractical and there was a never-ending stream of autogyro flights while I was there. The spa offers two types of massages - Indian Ayurvedic and "Hoshi", staffed by two separate teams. Hoshi offers Swedish, deep tissue and Balinese and is definitely the better choice if you know your preferences. Book ahead, appointments are only between 10am and 4pm and closed on Wednesdays. The staff are universally professional, courteous and helpful, especially if you're planning a sightseeing trip. Transfers are also available from Chennai airport. There is a well stocked boutique, where you can purchase handicrafts as well as sandals to wear on the beach.

Food is something which can be improved on. - We had a great experience along with a great ambience and the way rooms are maintained along with cleanliness is something to be praised about. There are two people who always had a smile when they served food and drinks (Mr. Dinesh and Ms Jhansi). Dinesh went out of his way to fix a dish which we complained was not good. He replaced the dish with another one which was very thoughtful. The front office girl Ms Akila was friendly and helpful too. Ayurvedic massage was bad( not recommended) The spa ladies did a good job.

It is very well maintained with all amenities and an ideal place to chill out for a few days. The staff is very courteous and polite. Especially, i want to mention about Pinki and Sanjib who were wonderful, and they went above and beyond to ensure that our stay in Lepondy was pleasant and comfortable in every way.

Twenty-four of us, bound by old memories and deep friendships, came together from across the country and even overseas to reconnect. What we found at Le Pondy was not just a resort — it was the perfect canvas on which our shared stories, laughter, and nostalgia could unfold. From the moment we entered the property, there was a sense of calm and space that wrapped around us. The resort’s charming architecture, sprawling lawns, and proximity to the sea offered a rare mix of privacy and openness — exactly what a reunion of this nature required. Though Le Pondy may not have lavish plunge pools or sea-facing villas, its authentic coastal charm, peaceful ambience, and seamless hospitality created something far more valuable: comfort without pretense. Our rooms were simple yet elegant — well-maintained, spotlessly clean, and equipped with all the essentials. We weren’t looking for luxury; we were looking for warmth, and that’s what we received in abundance. The private swimming pool near the restaurant and the beach was a beautiful gathering spot for our group — we shared stories under the shade, clicked dozens of photos, and spent hours simply soaking in each other's presence. One of the most memorable aspects of our stay was the culinary experience. The dosa with fresh coconut chutney each morning was a treat, and the Puttu, a traditional South Indian delicacy, was served hot and soft — a heartfelt nod to local flavours that made our breakfasts feel nostalgic and rooted. The kitchen staff was kind, and they managed to serve our large group with patience and efficiency. The staff at Le Pondy deserve special appreciation. Handling 24 guests is no easy task, but they did so with grace and quiet dedication. Whether it was helping us coordinate room arrangements or making sure our dining area was ready, they were consistently polite, helpful, and responsive. A Gentle but Important Suggestion: We would like to respectfully share a heartfelt request with the resort management — one that is very important to us. One of our dearest friends in the group has a medical condition that makes stair-climbing difficult. During our stay, we realized that there are no ramps or railings available to access key areas like the banquet hall or the first-floor rooms in the villas. She had to navigate stairs with great effort and discomfort. For senior citizens or anyone with mobility issues, reaching certain parts of the property was not easy. Even a few simple ramps, hand railings, or accessible pathways could make a world of difference. We truly hope the resort considers adding these — not just for our friend, but for many future guests who would benefit from thoughtful accessibility. Small Safety Note: We would also like to point out that one of our friends had a minor fall near the banquet hall entrance, close to the restaurant. There’s a small curve or drop in the flooring that isn’t very visible — especially in dim light. Thankfully she was not seriously hurt, but placing visual markers or anti-slip indicators in that area could help avoid future mishaps. Final Reflection: Reunions like these are rare and precious. Le Pondy didn’t just host us — it became part of our memory. The gentle breeze, the quiet sunrise walks, the poolside laughter, the shared breakfasts — these moments are now etched into our hearts. We thank the staff particularly the resort manager Mr.Bala Murugan, Mr.Bibin and Mr.Sukumar sincerely for their support and hospitality. We hope to return again — and we truly hope that next time, everyone in our group, regardless of age or mobility, will be able to move around freely and safely. Thank you, Le Pondy, for giving us a home for our reunion. With just a few thoughtful upgrades, this resort can become even more inclusive and welcoming. • gowrik988 (4/5): Nice property, need better front desk staff - The place is great and the service in the restaurant is good. But otherwise the front desk staff desperately need improvement. I'm still in the resort, and everytime is a struggle to make them understand what i want. For now, I'm trying to return the call to make them clean my room, but 4 phone calls later still the message hasn't been delivered. The check in was a problem as well. The pool had a lot of bugs and my son was bitten badly during swimming. Good place, but the front desk staff needs to be trained better on communication.

One can relax here while enjoying the food, which is awesome, in the beautiful ambience. Rooms are big enough and the adjoining balcony gives a feel of home. The staff is very affectionate and cooperative. We interacted with most of the staff and among these Ms. Pinky Gogoi in the dinning area is very cordial and helpful. I have forgotten other names.

The check-in process, facilitated through Cleartrip, was seamless, with prompt luggage transfer and buggy service to the lobby. The property's traditional architecture and wooden interiors created a charming ambiance. Our spacious first-floor room featured a comfortable sitting area and a private balcony. The extensive lawn provided ample space for children's play, complemented by a well-maintained swimming pool suitable for all ages. Direct access to the pristine Sandunes beach was a significant advantage. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options, including idli, dosa (live counter), appam, parathas, fresh fruits, and juices. However, there are areas for improvement. The unpaved access road to the property and Sandunes beach requires attention. Furthermore, while the overall experience was positive, the food quality, particularly dinner, did not meet expectations given the price point. The à la carte chicken kadai, in particular, was subpar, with insufficient, undercooked chicken pieces. In summary, despite the slightly overpriced dining experience, the exceptional accommodations, service, and amenities, including the pool, compensated for this shortcoming, resulting in a largely positive stay.

Had a great time, grounds were clean, lots of open grass great pool and private beach access. Bar was empty but well equipped, restaurant to pool which was nice. live band Saturday night. Lots of families, great environment for kids, looking to bring my family next trip, let them stay here while I spend the week in Chennai.

It was not a relaxing stay since you constantly end up giving same instructions multiple times and still the Resort ends up doing things the wrong way. Pros: 1. Stunning Location: Right next to Paradise Beach. 2. Beautiful Architecture: Resort, restaurant, and rooms are well-designed. Cons: 1. Private Beach: No facilities, no safety measures, and no access to Paradise Beach sand dunes. 2. Not Kid-Friendly: Restaurant unable to prepare baby food, play area in scorching heat, and shaded play area requires extra fee. Be prepared to pay extra for baby food. 3. Repetitive Breakfast: Limited options and same menu every day. 4. Language Barrier: Staff struggles to understand simple English instructions. 5. Unaccommodating Staff: Not friendly or helpful. Does not give a pleasing sense of stay 6. The resort looks serene but does not have enough lights in the night. This becomes challenging to roam around in the Resort in the night. 7. The resort is located in extreme corner of Pondicherry. So difficult to access other tourist destinations like White Town and Auroville.

I had Frieda stay here earlier .. but with time Upgrading and updating becomes important. we stayed at the presidential pool villa. And shifted next day to premium room. toiletries needs change .very substandard. Toilet and shower flooring very dirty as in old and very dirty . Toilet seats yellow.. Very old and underfurnished rooms. Do not look at the curtains , they are from an old house like 20 years old. Very very basic breakfast.. I can appreciate the staffs as prompt and helpful.! Looked like very young trainees .. ready to run for everything.! Breakfast: pls improve and improvise. No one eats aloo paratha with green peas gravy🫣 Few regional dishes like pongal rice .. upma in South Indian style wud be a good idea. Spread of fruits is important not basic watermelon and pineapple as only available. Healthy ideas of buttermilk.. variations in dosas.. millets and sprouts.. These are the need of the time.
