Guest Reviews
- Rafin (9/5): - Customer service, stuff's readiness to help, attention to detail Lack of toiletries
- Claire (9/5): A beautiful place to stay - Stayed 2 nights in May with a friend, we had separate rooms. We arrived late, around 8pm, and staff had our dinner prepared and ready to go. We were then told that the rooms in the main building had a hot water problem and we would be moved to the annex building. The annex building is literally less than 1 minute's walk, you can see it from the main building, it's just on the other side of the square. The annex building is also a historical building, lots of charm, beautifully kept. The only down side to the annex building is that it is right above the main temple/ square in the bazaar. It is very, very loud. We arrived during a cultural event with drumming, dancing, and singing. Being one floor above ground level made the noise extra loud. The show did end before 10pm. However, people stand around and talk in the square until late at night. You can hear everything they say. Then, very early, by 6am, people are ringing the bell at the temple; it is very loud. I think if you are not in one of the rooms facing the main square, it might be quieter. The main building is just a little bit away from the square and the eating area and most rooms face away from the main street so it is much quieter.
Both rooms (annex building and main building) are comfortable, nicely decorated, good beds and bedding, very clean, lots of lights and charging points. Filtered drinking water is provided. Shower water was hot, pressure was strong, wifi was decent. The shutters on all the windows keep the rooms very dark even in broad daylight. Having the large windows to open and a balcony was very nice.
Staff was very attentive and helpful. They let us switch rooms back to the main building the second night when the water heater was fixed. Food was absolutely delicious. The dhal bat set was very, very good. Breakfast was filling and made fresh. Overall a very nice stay. The only down side is the annex building: it is right above the main temple/ square in the bazaar. It is very, very loud. We arrived during a cultural event with drumming, dancing, and singing. Being one floor above ground level made the noise extra loud. The show did end before 10pm. However, people stand around and talk in the square until late at night. You can hear everything they say. - Lucy Victoria (10/5): Step back in time and enjoy the peace! - One of my favourite hotel stays in a long time, and the best I stayed in whilst visiting Nepal! The staff are wonderful, kind and attentive, and the hotel is beautiful and so well maintained.
The breakfast, and all the food I tried, was excellent. In particular it was great to have decent coffee served in a French press.
The location is perfect and the view from the multiple terraces are so special. The staff helped me arrange a minivan onto Pokhara which I appreciated.
- Troste_85 (10/5): - Top Lage mitten in Bandipur! nichts
Helemaal niets
- Sally (10/5): Amazing hotel with lots of charm! Perfect location, very friendly staff and delicious food. Highly recommend! - Amazing hotel with lots of charm! Perfect location, very friendly staff and delicious food. Highly recommend!
Sehr aufmerksames, freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal.
Danjabaad!
- GaryKmtl (10/5): Authentic Inn - Authentic Inn Nothing
- Jonathan (8/5): Great Place in Badipur, nice for history lovers. - The hotel is historic and keeps the vibes of a traditional nepalese building, this means it's gorgeous and has a lot of quirks and everything seems original or restored from original.
I did not have a chance to try the food, but saw other guests eating the breakfast and it seemed up to standard.
The location is ideal for a stay in Bandipur, as it cannot get more central. It is located on a purely walkable street, so there is no traffic noise. Not an issue the hotel should/could change, but the doorways and rooms are quite short for anyone who might consider themselves tall. The hotel however accomodates and has padding on doorways in higher traffic areas which saved my head a couple times in my short stay.
Super vriendelijk personeel!
- emily (10/5): -

- Arthur (10/5): It allows us to feel that we knew the real Nepal. - Everything. It is historic, charming, ionically Nepalese. Don’t hesitate, just go ahead and book it. You won’t be disappointed. That I could not stay there longer
- Bas (8/5): Terug in de tijd! - Locatie
Stijl van het gebouw Afwerking
- Leah (10/5): - Can't rate highly enough, perfect place to stay if in Bandpiur as just like stepping back in time. Love all of the dark wood interiors, small doors to rooms, old lamps used for lighting and views over the valley. My room was spacious and clean and felt very cosy in the evening. Right on the bazaar so ideal for exploring the town and the staff were so helpful.
- Alev (10/5): - I think it’s the most beautiful hotel in Bandipur. The team is extremely professional, the location is excellent, the breakfast is delicious, and the atmosphere of the rooms is absolutely lovely.

- marion (5/5): - Midden in de straat, leuke plek. Geen verwarming erg koud.
- nicholas (10/5): Unique traditional inn - Excellent management and staff. Beautiful location and unique traditional inn. Lovely restaurant terraces Noise from the street can be a problem.
- Annelies (10/5): Unique heritage experience! - Staying at The Old Inn was like going back in time, a really amazing experience!
Our bed was comfortable and they provided a heated blancket which warmed us up before sleeping. A nice extra touch!
We had a gorgeous view on rice terraces and the big mountains from our balcony. The hotel is on the main street so all the places to see and visit in Bandipur are in easy walking distance.
We walked up to the sunset point and the views were incredible!
Breakfast was plenty and delicious :)
If you want a unique experience in Bandipur, book this hotel.
- amanda (10/5): Quaint building and wonderfully hospitable staff - A beautifully restored heritage property in the best location in Bandipur.
Lovely terrace at the front with a bar and amazing rooftop with fabulous views. Staff will bring up drinks for you whilst you enjoy the sunset.
- Jane (10/5): -
- Lauren (10/5): A charming old inn preserved in time - A beautifully preserved property boasting lots of charm. The food was excellent (one of the best Dhal Bhat we’ve had in Nepal) and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Nothing!
- Monique (7/5): Etablissement vieillissant qui mériterait quelques rénovations. Endroit idéal. - Correct
Zimmer riechen extrem muffig. Toilette geht gar nicht, Deckel extrem abgenutzt!
- Robert (9/5): - Beautiful inside and out. Ample delicious food, attentive staff. Pricey for Nepal (and not cheap even for the States; no regrets.
- Oriol (9/5): -
- Carlos (8/5): nice place, good staff -
- Daniel (8/5): -
- Fleur (10/5): Absolute aanrader!!! - - Super vriendelijk en attent personeel!
- Prachtig traditioneel hotel;
- Heerlijk eten;
- Jacqui (10/5): Great place to stay while in Bundipur - relaxing and enchanting. - I loved the old Architecture of the Inn it is quite enchanting. It felt like you were living in another era. The terrace garden lovely for sitting, enjoying the day and having breakfast snd dinner.
The staff were very thoughtful and friendly. It felt like home away from home.
We enjoyed many breakfasts and meals and especially enjoyed the buckwheat roti and porridge with nuts. I liked everything.

- Lucia Ochoa (10/5): Nepalese historic inn - Beautiful historic hotel, with a lot of charm...very authentic Nepalese decor
. Great mountain views. Comfortable and clean rooms. Nice fresh breakfast. The best hotel in Bandipur. Everything was great
- Gernico (10/5): - I loved the authentic charm and ambiance. The host and staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was just as advertised and I enjoyed it. The food was top notch. The area was quiet and I had a great view. I’m definitely looking forward to coming back soon!
- Katrien (10/5): - Wonderful architecture. Very attentfull staff. Great food. Nice view over the mountains
Best location. ---
Peccato!
- Renato (10/5): -
- Venetha (10/5): I dream of another trip to Nepal and the opportunity to spend a little more time at The Old Inn, with these kind people! - So much charm! Beautiful building and patios…plants, flowers, butterflies!! I loved the balcony attached to my room! We loved meals out on the back patio area… with occasional views of snow capped peaks. The food was AMAZING! The staff were so kind and friendly! It was a tad dark in my beautiful room.
- Constantin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jean-marc (10/5): Beautiful old style building with great view - Hotel Old Inn is a very nice place, where the style of old Newari houses has been very well preserved. There are of course some drawbacks to this deliberate choice, but which were not a problem to us: rooms are not very large, they are a bit dark, and equipment is limited (no TV set for example). But again, we like and support this choice.
The staff is nice and efficient. Having breakfast on the terrace facing the mountains is wonderful, and we also had a very nice (but small) balcony with Himalaya view adjacent to our room.
Be aware that the hotel is on Bandipur bazaar, which is a pedestrian-only area. We had heavy luggage, but our driver called the hotel and hotel staff came to help us carry our luggage to hotel while we were walking. And they also helped us in the same way when we departed Bandipur. Nothing
- Sarah (10/5): Old world charm with great hospitality - Fantastic period property with quirky communal spaces, corridors, low beams and old furniture. Rooms were very comfortable whilst not detracting from the style. Don’t expect modern, it’s like a step back in time. Hotel staff were amazing - especially all the guys at breakfast and dinner, who were highly attentive and friendly. Always happy to help and look after us. I took a day hike using the hotel guide, which was lovely. Recommended stay! Oh and of course the amazing terrace views! How could they not be mentioned - stunning on a clear day. Be careful not to hit your head on all the low beams! It’s is marked clearly but it’s so quirky and old. A great property with lots of charm.
- Paul (10/5): A wonderful hotel in a wonderful town, fell in love with it! - I absolutely loved the property, beautiful room, clean and light with terrace door open, albeit a little more lighting at night could help!
Breakfast was monstrous, Fruit, yoghurt and then main to your choice, I can eat but I struggled, fabulous!
The location right in the centre of town…. Perfect
- Amin (10/5): Exceptional - Really great hotel Nothing
- Amber (10/5): Stunning building, fantastic location - Such a beautiful and sympathetically restored building, definitely the most characterful place we stayed in Nepal! It’s right in the heart of Bandipur, which is a small but charming town, and sitting facing the street is the perfect spot for people-watching. We loved all the decorative touches in the property as well, like statues and paintings and plants.
- Stefan (9/5): Pleasant - It’s a very charming hotel with very friendly staff. The location is great as it is right in the middle of the main pedestrian street. Also the food is nice.
- Hugo (10/5): Incredible, personal and professional - The staff make this place with their incredible service and despite it being a very touristy area they manage to keep it personal at all times and a unique experience Other guests who did not appreciate where they were and were rude
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Incredibly beautiful historic building, an amazing stay with impeccable service and friendly staff
- Lucas (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (10/5): An excellent stay thanks to the staff - Loved the whole package.
The staff, locality, facilities loved it all.
The staff go beyond expectations Loved it all
- Liz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Timothy (9/5): Superb -
- Amy (9/5): Amazingly hospitable hotel with mountain view - The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and always happy to give tourist advice. The location is incredible; we were really surprised by Bandipur! We had an amazing room with a mountain view which we shall never forget. The hotel staff also provided us with packed lunches for a trek, which was very thoughtful as the refreshments were very much needed on a hot day! We were very happy with our stay; however we would have liked shampoo and body wash. These could be provided in refillable containers to be eco-friendly as we understand the need to reduce plastic.
- Evelyne (10/5): Wonderful stay in a magical place - recommended - Super charming hotel with magical mountain views.
One of the nicest hotels we stayed in in Nepal - beautifully decorated - the ancient building an charm was well preserved. We had a wonderful birthday celebration with delicious food and mountain views. Definitely a place to go to in Bandipur. Just know that the ancient building means steep stairs and low ceilings. But that adds to the charm
- Von (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mario (10/5): Beautiful old building, excellent service - Excellent service, beautiful old building, good breakfast Only small things- slippers provided were in-between-toes flip flops which I couldn’t wear, no tissues in the room, no shampoo.
- Niels (9/5): Superb -
- Kate (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (9/5): Excellent - Staff most helpful
- Gerda (9/5): totally met expectations - excellent location, brilliant service and great food. - The only minor issue was with a leaking tap in the bathroom, but we were only there one night, I am sure the staff would have fixed it if we stayed longer
- Jessie (7/5): Great place, good food and staff - Good central location full of charm Usual noisy dogs at night
- Pascale (10/5): - Very cosy and with lots of charm, this is a great place to stay a couple of days.
- Terry (9/5): This is one of those "must stay here places" to experience the best of Bandipur. - A very quaint and beautiful old building right in the heart of town. They have done a wonderful job of creating a comfortable hotel in an historic structure. The restaurant/breakfast area has gorgeous views looking towards the mountains.
- Mohammad (7/5): Good -
- Catalin (8/5): Very good - - good location
- very clean
- vintage rooms
- friendly staff - wifi not working in the room
- food took a lot of time to arrive
- Jim (9/5): Superb! - We loved the character and charm of the property. Exceptional views and very friendly and helpful staff. As our room overlooked the dining terrace, sometimes the noise was too much.
- Irena (10/5): very charracteristic - We stayed 2 nights and the stay was really great. We were very lucky as we were able to see the mountains from the room. The hote is very characteristic and very beautiful. The family who mange the hotel is very very nice and supportive. I highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay in Bandipur.
- Kerrie (10/5): Exceptional - unique quiet accomodation
- Omar (10/5): Lots of character and charm in a wonderful location - Excellent property in a great location. Helpful staff, legendary Nepali hospitality. The check out process was a bit lengthy, but I believe that this was due more to Booking.com than to the hotel. My booking info said that the hotel had already charged my credit card, but the hotel had not. This is not the first time that it happens (for example, it also happened at Sofitel Istanbul and Raffles Jakarta). Maybe Booking.com needs to streamline how you share this info and do it in a more clear way. The hotel staff was apologetic and kind and dealt with this in the most efficient manner possible.
- Jolanda (9/5): Superb - Really unique and special place! Can definitely recommend. Mind your head, watch your step :)
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (9/5): the staff were so helpful and friendly the food delicious and the building amazing to stay in : having a balcony was gre - the staff were so helpful and friendly the food delicious and the building amazing to stay in : having a balcony was great for sitting and people watching couldnt have bettered these aspects the internet was poor and the standard of cleanliness average -not what we expected given the price charged
- Nora (7/5): Wonderful old house in a beautiful village - We enjoyed our stay at Old Inn. The hotel was a beautiful old house and very nice decorated with old local items. The rooms were also simple and tastfully decorated. My room was beautiful, but quite damp because it was sort of in the middle of this old house. Breakfast was very good and the restaurant had wonderful vieuw of the snowclad Himalayas. II liked the place, but would suggestion that the restaurant area should look cleaner. It might be difficult in such an old building, but it is possible.
I did not like that they had a tiny tip-box which was put under other things in the reseption so that it was totally invisible. A tip-box is a must.
- Jody (8/5): A good place to relax after the chaos of Kathmandu. - Charming traditional old building, right on the Main Street. Great breakfast and lovely staff. Noise from neighbouring rooms (old buildings not very soundproof). Probably more the noisy guests’ fault, not the property’s though.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - A charming period building with some really good features and unusual rooms! Prepare to get VERY cold and feel VERY damp during your stay, it’s really OVER priced, NO heaters available and staff offer a backpackers feel and not at all $100 feel, a fire was lit downstairs but it attracted all the staff to sit around it and some people from outside that left us not able to even see the fire....I had to ask them to move to get a little heat while we ate...not worth the money, but the building is lovely....
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Charming and atmospheric, with stunning views from the terrace!
- Nicholas (8/5): - Lovely old place to stay in the centre of Bandipur. Attentive staff and we had a nice lunch and breakfast.
Only thing negative is the price - over-priced for the standard of room/bathroom.
But overall a lovely stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel in its restored state is beautiful & our extended suite was perfect, with a view of the valley & mountain range beyond.
An excellent breakfast was prepared & served on the terrace.
Be aware that there is no heating of any kind in the building, so in early December requires sleeping with my cap!
Senior staff was a bit indifferent & there were no other meals available after breakfast. The service staff was courteous although our room wasn’t cleaned during our 2-night stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overpriced for the area. Breakfast was supposed to be included and I was charged for it at the end of the stay and the food was also overpriced for the area
- Lucinda (10/5): - Amazing ! The hotel is so charming and very beautiful
- d (10/5): - Bandipur is beautiful and the Old Inn was great - we were in the old part of the hotel across the street from the main building, and our room was very comfortable, but note the ceilings are quite low as it's an old building but that adds to the charm! Staff were fantastic too.
- Fen747 (10/5): - Right in the centre of Bandipur. Excellent choice to stay and would recommend. Very friendly staff and rooms are very comfortable. We had a family room as we were 2 adults and 2 kids. Would choose The Old Inn again when we come back next year.
