- Hortencia (2/5): - Im a adult traveler, both adult pools were closed at the same time.. I brought my mom who was cencer so she needs specific foods. There was only the buffet and it did have many things she could est and when the buffet was closed it was even worse as there were only unhealthy snacks. The transportation recommended by the hotel is way more expensive than outside for the same distance. For an all inclusive in mexico the beer selection was super limited. And speciality restaurants only opened for dinner and were super full so it was hard to get a spot. Would not recommended what you get for the price.

- Alina (2/5): - I do not recommend this resort! Traveled with my wife and we both got food poisoning! Management does not care and takes no responsibility. Luis at the front desk was especially rude and dismissive. The food is not being handled properly and the options are VERY limited. No single serve bottled water is being offered! The are NO bathrooms at the restaurants, you have to go in the lobby. We will not be returning.

Only one good guy that earned well deserved tips throughout our stay. His name is Neto and works at the buffet for lunch and dinner time. One of the things that stood out the most was how rude and disrespectful the staff at the kids water park were. They will start letting you know( In a very pushy way) that the park is closing 40 min before closing time, which is 5pm. Then 20 min before 5 a staff member came and shut the shades on top of the lazy chairs we were seating at. No “excuse me” or manners at all. When we told him it was disrespectful, he brushed it off and said “it’s time to go, you people take too long”. We have a picture of the staff member we can provide.

- Diego (6/5): July 2025 Family Vacation - My family of 4, kids 11 and 4 went to celebrate a coworkers daughters 15 year birthday. Pros: The hotel is a good size but does not require a lot of walking. The water park was a hit with the kids. The amount of chairs in the beach and around the pools were nice. They had activities and shows throughout the day/night. They have a doctor on location, which somebody from the birthday party had to seek after twisting and spraining their ankle. The staff overall was extremely nice and gracious. It is not located in the "Hotel Zone" which makes it so that it is not as busy, which may be a con to some, but for our family, it was great. Cons: Don't expect great food here. It is mediocre at best. The shows while entertaining aren't the best quality. As you know the gift shop overcharges, but trying to bill almost $40 for kids Tylenol is just robbery.

Service inside the buffet was hit or miss depending on who you got, and it’s overall just OK when it came to eating. I do have to say that all the bartenders were wonderful and never ignored anyone and took care of everyone that showed up. The property and rooms were wonderful and everything was very clean. If you have children, this is not a bad place to stay. However, I would highly recommend the adults only properties.

- Katharine Marie (6/5): - The property is clean and we felt very safe there, however as a frequent traveler to All Inclusive resorts, many things fell short of our expectations. One of the most memorable things from my first visit to Cancun more than 30 year ago, was driving the Hotel Zone and seeing all the beautiful resorts located along the ocean. You will not have that experience here as the location is quite a distance north of the Hotel Zone and felt very isolated. The dining hours and options are limited with NO room service. The 24 hour food that is advertised as room service is actually nachos, cold hot dogs, hamburgers and sandwiches kept in a fridge at the sports bar that you have warm using the microwave in the bar. The pools along with the associated bars close at 7pm and everyone is shuffled to the stage area where they make a big deal out of their "parties". Everywhere except that area and the sports bar shut down at 7pm leaving the entire rest of the resort oddly vacant. Luckily it was not crowded when we were there, but if had been this would be a big problem. With a few exceptions (pool bartenders) the staff was not overly friendly or accommodating. Every other All Inclusive that I have stayed at really made the experience feel like a true luxury vacation. Riu Dunamar made it feel like the guests were children that needed to go to bed early and if you wanted a bedtime snack it was only going to be a crappy food that you had to make yourself. All considered, I would not return.

- Darrick Lamont (10/5): - The property is gorgeous and very well maintained. Super friendly staff and very helpful. The only thing that I think could be better is the American options for food. No maple syrup at breakfast time but some apple type instead. I went with my teenage son and there were no chicken nuggets, tenders or fried chicken wings of any sort. Still a 8.8 out of 10 for me.

Only one point on the room, as family we dont like to have a window between the shower and bedroom as people in the room can see through who is showering.

- joelle (10/5): No es un hotel 5 estrellas - Un poco decepcionada por el hotel, no es un 5 estrellas como tal, las bebidas son muy malas, el alcohol es el más barato que hay, en recepción desafortunadamente no ayudan mucho con la información del hotel, no saben si hay algo incluido en el spa, o si el kayak está incluido, tienes que ir directamente a buscar todo la información. Comida muy repetitiva en el buffet, la comida es buena, los restaurantes de especialidades también, el asiatico fantástico y el italiano también, no recomiendo el Kulinarium porque es muy tardado y la comida a parte esta muy x, solo bonita presentación, todas las mesas estaban esperando su comida y se veía la gente molesta, hasta una mesa se fue por esperar tanto, a ese no regresamos. Tienen bonita playa, personal muy agradable, equipo de animación son muy buenos, personal en los bares y restaurantes son muy atentos. El hotel no está malo solamente que no vale un 5 estrellas, mas bien un 4 o un 3. Está muy lejos de todo así que si quieres salir un taxi te va a cobrar carísimo

- Sahar (4/5): - I stayed at Riu Dunamar in April 2025 and had a very poor experience. Staff dismissed every issue I raised because I booked through Expedia, offering no help when I needed support. I left four nights early, feeling ignored and unwelcome.

The only down side i can think of is that the resort is about 30 min from the hotel zone but there’s plenty to do on the resort so that didn’t matter much anyways. They have shows and activities going on all day and night i had a blast!

Superior service, great food, no reservations needed at any restaurant, always a lounge chair available at the beach and pools, always something to do, grounds were impeccable, I could go on and on. I relied on reviews while searching for a trip and all the reviews lived up to every word of how amazing RIU is. I highly recommend a trip to Dunamar and hope to return soon. Thank you RIU for memories that will last a lifetime!
- Casey (10/5): - Stayed in a 4th floor suite, and the view from the room was fantastic. Loved the huge ocean-facing balcony. Also loved the waterpark and the separate family and adult pools. Beach was good-sized and beautiful. There were always chairs available, which was nice because we’d move from beach to pool to waterpark all in a day. The food and service was excellent. Highly recommend!

- GREG (10/5): - We actually ended up staying in Riu Palace right next to Dunamar. Dunmar is a great hotel has great night shows , the beach is awesome. Really light soft white sand blue water reflecting through the white send. Palace is a little more luxurious but at the same time more expensive so staying at Dunamar might actually be the way to go.
- Maria (8/5): - This resort is a very nice family-oriented option with a bunch of activities for children and adults. The dining options we're just okay and some of the food items were not that great. The property was maintained very well and everything was clean at all times. The staff is friendly, however, there were language barriers. I would still recommend this resort, but also willing to check other options for all-inclusives.

- Lou Ele (4/5): - This is more like a 3 star reset. The biggest issue we had was the food. Everything was so dry. We ended up going off resort for food because the food was so bad. Also- the water park is not open on mondays so that was not something we knew ahead of time. The beds are so small that my husband and I couldn’t fit in a bed together. We are not large people either. The resort being “renovated “ isn’t an upscale renovation either. The beach and water were clean though. We will likely not return to any Rius in the future. We have stayed at Rius previously and this one was just not up to par.
