Guest Reviews
- Kalle (10/5): -
- Kayla (10/5): Majestic - Most beautiful view! Quiet Staff didn’t inform me all the amenities of hotel. Also, no offer was made for recommendations for things to do.
- Tok (8/5): Amazing - Manzara Portmanto eklenebilir
- Josip (10/5): - 10/10 — Sve preporuke za ovaj apartman! Smještaj je odličan, čist, uredan i vrlo ugodan. Osoblje izuzetno ljubazno i uvijek na raspolaganju. Sve je bilo vrhunski i sigurno ćemo se ponovno vratiti.
Niestety czystość i stan apartamentu pozostawiały wiele do życzenia.
Zgłosiłam wszystkie uwagi opiekunowi obiektu jeszcze w trakcie pobytu.

- Sophie Lauren (10/5): Peaceful bliss - The room and its view was stunning. the staff gave us a warm welcome and made our stay feel very special. Halstatt itself is beautiful- quiet at the time of year we attended. the use of the sauan was lovely and the breakfast was a real treat. the bathroom in our room had mould around the window and on the wall- it was also opening onto the terrace of a neighbouring room so wasn't so private.

- Marijáková (10/5): - We’d great time to relax, beautiful views, silence, private sauna and jacuzzi, we would love to come back!
- Vincenzo (8/5): - for the room I stayed in, a hidden door in the bathroom that leads to another room can be very annoying, the kitchen did not have a hob, it would have been nice to be informed but for the rest everything is ok for 520 euros a night I would have expected something more, the view makes up for the price a bit
- Jack (10/5): The Nicest Hotel - The location was amazing, the place was superb, and the staff were so friendly. The best place I've ever stayed! That I didn't stay longer

- Ratchata (9/5): - Good - Very beautiful decorate, modern, have kitchen - when walk up to hotel little hard for carry luggage
- some room Kettle broken, or Coffee Maker out of order
- Clint (8/5): - Nice place and good location. They really try to sell you on their National Geographic status, which is cool but doesn't mean much when it comes to comfort. I wasn't super impressed with the property given it's price tag, but the stay overall was good. Only odd thing was check-in, we weren't asked for ID, Passport etc... we just showed up gave our names and were shown to our room...
- Loretta (8/5): - Very spacious room with beautiful view of the lake. The TV, safe and some bathroom lights were not working and were not fixed.
- Paul (10/5): - This Hideaway is amazing! Unique and fabulous! What a view!!
- Jennifer (10/5): - Wow! One of the best hotel stays we’ve ever had. You could not beat the view from our room directly over the lake. It was stunning! The staff was so courteous and welcoming. The suite was clean, enormous, had so much character and was comfortable. The location was ideal and breakfast brought to us on a rainy morning was the perfect ending. Highly recommend!

- Dany (8/5): Très beau séjour. - Grande chambre, personnel adorable.
- Ksenia (10/5): -
- Christina (10/5): -
- Courtney (8/5): - I want to give this 3.75 stars but 3 is to low but 4 is too high in my opinion (for the price at least). The room was quaint and cozy - maybe a bit older than I imagined from the pictures but nothing disappointment. The view of the lake from the windows was beautiful.
My biggest complaint was the lakeside garden. I was actually REALLY looking forward to spending a few hours relaxing by the lake - one of the reasons I booked this place and it was SO BAD! First of all - it's a 10 minute walk away (maybe I missed this information when booking but this was a surpirse). Secondly, it looks NOTHING like the photos. Completely overgrown and looks like it hasnt been kept up with in a year. Bird poop on all the chairs, etc. I left immediately and was pretty disappointed.
Only other oddities that are important to note - the stairs are really steep (no worries - i somewhat expected this in Europe) BUT you have to take your shoes off anywhere inside and it feels like the slippers are a little too slippery for the stairs. I was nervous I would fall! Also i'm not a huge fan of removing my shoes in public or putting on other slippers so would have been nice to know in advance but I can overlook this.
I also couldnt shut 1 of my windows because there was a weird vent (that wasnt connected to anything) block it. Luckily the weather was nice and the town was safe and quiet enough that it didnt matter.
It was a great location though but the outdoor garden was pretty disappointing.
- Francine (9/5): Enchanting, spectacular location for a quiet, relaxing getaway. - We rented two separate apartments including the luxury suite with deck/hot tub/kitchen. The views were spectacular and the rooms quite comfortable. Private garden/swim area was a bonus we were not aware of when we booked. It's an enchanting location, and our hosts were gracious and accommodating. Shower floor/bathroom could get a little slick when someone showered, and I always appreciate a little extra tea!
- Changbin (10/5): - Wonderful staff, nice room with beautiful view, close to nice restaurants and attractions. Complementary wine and snacks are a plus and making us feel very welcomed!
- Jean François (9/5): -
- Cali (10/5): - I can’t recommend Hallstatt Hideaway enough! I arrived early and was able to keep my luggage with staff and checked in later. I had the most beautiful spacious room with a view of the lake that was breathtaking! Staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing delivered to my room with so many options. Hotel is steps away from the market and main shops and dining. I will definitely stay here again!
- Pierre-Luc (10/5): - Nice stay even if you need to park far and walk a way with your luggage!
- Maryam (10/5): - Very cute and comfortable room.
- Andrea (4/5): - Too hot. No aircon
- Claire (10/5): - Perfect location - overlooking the lake and village
- Mohammadhossein (5/5): Good location, clean room, luxury materials, but no air conditioning nor air circulating, no staff - Only the view of the room was great, as well as the private Jacuzzi in the terrace of the room. The room does not have any air conditioning or air circulating system, which is unacceptable for this range of money.
Also, there is no reception, nor any staff that you can communicate with. Everything was like a self-service.
- Vida (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roy (8/5): - You can’t beat the location and quaintness of this room. It was like staying in the guest room of a friend. Everything wasn’t perfect, but it was luxurious and they made sure we were comfortable. The best part was a delicious breakfast brought up to our room. We ate with the windows wide open and the view was perfect! Kopila and Suni were wonderful hosts!
- Shiao Yun (10/5): -
- susan (6/5): - Beautiful location and view. Rooms not comfortable. Bathroom had no outlets. Room was not what I selected. Over priced.
- Andrew (9/5): A little piece of heaven - Amazing views across the lake in a wonderful location. Extremely comfortable and cosy accommodation.
Delicious breakfast brought to our room. Steep steps up to the room.
10 min to waterfront garden.
- Ingo (6/5): Great views but... - Beautiful views and a nice place to stay with a few caveats. We stayed in upper room with hottub. A few things didnt work (only 1/2 hottub jets). Our stay was interrupted with a dishwasher swap. Stairs were very steep to loft bedrooms. We were told to consider ourselves lucky to be able to stay there. They did try to compensate with bottle of wine but it was the.end of our stay. Pack light because its a hike to get to up stairs.
- Zuri (4/5): - *BE AWARE !!!!!!!! False advertisement on the view! Where do I start? This property has 3 bedrooms…I can only speak for mine.At a really high rate per night, the beautiful pics from the website with a balcony view???? NOPE! There’s a limited view from the very 3 small windows in the room. The balcony??? Not existent! It’s 3 iron chairs in front of the laundry room with a recent constructed house and roof RIGHT in front of it OBSTRUCTING ALL view from the lake and mountains .Then front desk tried to tell me they haven’t updated the website cause it’s “new construction “ ( the house is almost finished so plenty of time to have updated it) so my only night in a magical town truly ruined. This is after I canceled a cheaper place with a fantastic view for this one because of the balcony views on the website. The sauna??? Have to book and pay extra for it! The taxi the called for me the next morning departure? Oh they canceled 5 mins before it was supposed to show up so I had to carry all my suitcases for a 15 min walk back to the parking lot!
Austrians are not running this inn and the service is awful.
The inside I guess was pretty enough although not worth the money with no view and the bathroom curiously enough had a Dyson blow drier but no shampoo or conditioner. Save your money go ELSEWHERE !
- Cherie (8/5): Very good -
- Bernard (10/5): - Had a quick, lovely stay for one night in Hallstatt. The hotel is very quiet and secluded, with a beautiful view of the lake. Roshni, our host, was wonderful and was able to answer all our questions and arranged storage for our luggage.
- Henry (10/5): Superbb view - The apt is superb … the view and the service from Roshni and the team are all superb . I would definitely back
- Steven (10/5): - Great location in the middle of everything but off the main street, which is a bit of a madhouse. The accommodations were very quiet and staff friendly. Also, they have a nice property on the lake with garden, that was quiet and no one there! Highly suggest the restaurant a couple doors down with outdoor seating not on the main drag. Hiking in the hills past Salt Mine tour is HIGHLY suggested. No one is there with many waterfalls, rushing rivers and incredible scenery. Avoid the crowds and you’ll have a pleasant stay!
- Nathan (8/5): - The room we had was delightful, and the people hosting us were amazing with fantastic communication.
We were a little early for check-in so they let us leave our bags with them while we went for some food. When we got back to check-in, they'd not only take the bags to our suite, but also decorated it for us with balloons and petals (it was a surprise visit for my wife)
The room was cleaned every day and the facilities there was very good (the shower was amazing).
The location within the town was great, close to everything but off the beaten track so very little noise from passing tourists.
The only negative points I could possibly come up with would be that personally, there was not anywhere comfortable to 'lounge' in the room, it was either the bed or the dining table. And there were signs beginning to show in places that some of the decor is getting a bit tired. But to be honest, I really couldn't fault it otherwise.
- Manesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benjamin (10/5): - We stayed in the room called wald. Had a lovely stay from the warm welcome with chocolates and wine to the huge bathtub with plenty of amenities. The breakfasts were really beautifully put together and served in room which we liked. We were really grateful for the attentive hosts who even went out of their way to get us decaf coffee when requested. The room was very clean and was much larger than we expected. The views were spectacular from the windows.
- Abdulhameed (3/5): Overpriced , no service , you are on your own , not flexible, no help offered , not friendly enough , you can find bette - Old need a revamp and some major upgrades View
- ashley (10/5): - The cutest hotel ever, and the host was amazing. It was an incredible stay I wish I could have stayed longer !!
- Robbin (10/5): - Awesome little hotel that is central to everything!
- Andrew (10/5): - There’s no better place to stay in Hallstatt. Luxury accommodation, great service and best view you can ask for .
- Nicholas (10/5): Relaxing with AMAZING views! - Most amazing hotel room in all of Europe! Very convenient and relaxing. We had a wonderful time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Americans in Austria :) - Views were stunning! Would absolutely stay here again. We were traveling from US so we were a little unsure where to get our key as there was no apparent front desk but thankfully our phones worked and we were able to get in touch with someone to meet us. I recommend calling ahead to discuss a check in plan. Such a gorgeous spot!
- Jimena (1/5): Bad - Nothing The worst experience ever, the host is crazy!
- Amanda (2/5): - There was black mold and yellow staining throughout the entire shower and bathroom. Pieces of the flooring was missing by the kitchen and bed.
- Md (7/5): Good -
- Singsikornkun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Singsikornkun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hideaway with Views! - Stay was a picturesque fantasy view with charming B&B elements in the house. Charming hostess and beautiful breakfast. Minor issues with TV remote not working so TV did not work.
Hostess was lovely. Said we could reach out to them for anything, but was unclear how to do that once we made it to our room as the house is not clear about where the hostess stays or how to get in touch.
- Polychronis (6/5): Too expensive for what it offers - Hallstatt is an amazing place with great natural beauty. The hotel's rooms that face the lake are good as you can clearly see the lake. My room was spacious and clean with the aforementioned great view. Also took a look in the suite with the jaccuzi and the balcony, which is an amazing room. -The hotel is clearly not in front of the lake. It is near it, but the village is too small, so I can not consider the hotel in the front.
-This brings me to the price/quality ratio. For where it is and what it is offering it is extremely expensive. Hallstat is generally quite expensive but this hotel has higher rates than most others hotels I found.
-Too many stairs for the rooms, if you are carrying big luggage, think about going elsewhere. And if you consider that from the place where you park the car till the hotel it is more than 1km, then carrying luggage is exhausting.
-Did not have power for a few hours the first day, but I think it was an independent incident.
-For the first time in my life I saw a hotel asking to be paid upon arrival and not during the check out.
- Saba (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chad (10/5): Great stay! - Fantastic location, great privacy, incredible views. Much more relaxing than chasing the ferry or buses for day trips. Incredible and attentive personal service and great amenities. Would definitely stay here again.
- Ryan (10/5): - We visited Halstatt over the Christmas holiday and fell in love with this gem of a town. While it is a bit overrun with tourists at this time of year, Halstatt Hideaway is set above the hustle and bustle and always offered a quiet escape. We stayed in the green suite and had beautiful views of the lake and town from our windows. Breakfast provided by the staff was a treat each morning. If you're planning on visiting during Christmas, beware that a lot of shops and restaurants are closed, so you'll need to plan ahead. Put Halstatt and Halstatt Hideaway on your bucket list...it's the type of town you can't get lost in and beauty lies down every tiny street and around every corner.
- James (8/5): - The owner of the property was easy to communicate with prior to our stay, and ensured someone would be there to check us in when we arrived from the ferry. It was a nice, private location away from the “hustle and bustle” of the daily tourists. The hot tub was an excellent touch and the view from the place was unmatched.
- Eloise (2/5): - DO NOT STAY HERE! This was one of the most horrible experiences I have had dealing with customer service. The owner of the property made personal insults when I needed assistance. There is a significant amount of construction right in front of the property that destroys the view and there is rotting in the bathroom. The listing states the rooms are soundproof and they absolutely are not - we could hear lots of noise from other areas of the property and jackhammering right outside our window from 7am before sunrise. The owner refused to assist and threatened to involve her lawyer when I requested a partial refund for the misleading information on the listing. The owner was also awful to her staff member in front of us and refused to help in anyway. They said that my complaints were a “personal problem” despite many other guests complaining about the same issues. Again, DO NOT STAY HERE - plenty of better ways to spend your money and much nicer accommodation in Hallstatt which is beautiful.
- Hajaj (8/5): Very good -
- Katarina (1/5): Don't come here it's nothing like advertised. Don't ruin your holiday. - Location. It's overlooking the beautiful lake and mountains, but the construction site right in front of our door was obsructing our view. This has been by far the worst experience we have ever had while traveling.
- Horrible noise: the construction site was literally in front of our window and the noise was unbearable, constant drilling into your head, workers watching through your window, zero privacy. The worst thing is that nobody, at any point, notified us that there is construction in front of the room, otherwise we wouldn’t book this place.
- Bad smell: there is a stale smell of sweat in the room and from the bathroom ventilation there was a smell from the kitchen of fried food which we couldn’t air out because it was coming from the ventilation.
- Door in the bathroom: there is a door in the bathroom from which they can come in and we can’t lock it.
- Dirty bathroom, floors and utensils: yellow stains on the bathroom walls and floors. Floors have holes and the utensils were crusty.
- Bad communication with owner: after we checked in, we tried to find staff to talk to but nobody was available for 20 minutes we had to wait outside in the cold in front of the lobby, then they told US to contact the owner. We messaged the owner that construction, noise, smell and dirt is unacceptable and that for almost 500€/night, this is not the advertised "luxury and peaceful" experience we paid for. We left the apartment withouth touching anything and requested a refund. The owner didn’t reach back the whole day and only texted us in the evening (after we reported to Booking what happened and they contacted her). She told us that the bathroom is not dirty and that the noise and construction is a part of "everyday life". She was however horrified with the smell and we ended up getting a 40% refund. She told us that it's more that she "needed" to refund and then never responded back.
- Eva (3/5): never again - The view from a window in the morning was great. Very far from thenonly parking in Hallstatt (def not walking distance). Our room had door to somewhere, where the someone could come in from the other building( scary). TV did not work and was so small, you wouldnt want to watch it anyway. We booked this place on our way from Italy to spoil ourselves with spa and sauna and a very expensive apartment and we came to a dissapointment. Def not worth the money they are asking for and never want to come there again.
- Oleg (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hakan (1/5): Disappointment. - The view of the facility was just beautiful. First of all, I can say the indifference of the authorities, the inadequacy of the facilities in the room regarding water etc. and the rooms not being very sterile. Also, although we went on the weekend, the renovation and noise in the backyard was very upsetting. And unfortunately, there were a lot of renovation workers who saw the inside of our room. The hotel authorities did not provide any information about this issue, and unfortunately they did not intervene. In short, it was a very indifferent hotel.
- Robert (10/5): - What an absolute picture perfect village and amazing hotel. The Hallstatt hideaway was incredible. It felt like fairytale. Highly recommend. One of the nicest spots I’ve ever stayed or seen.
- David (8/5): - Parking was a pain, and a bit too far. Especially in the rain.
- David (10/5): - Hallstatt is a fairy tale place. Hallstatt Hideaway is beautiful and we were treated very well. We highly recommend!
- Regina (10/5): - Beautiful room. Had to wait for the staff. (they are in several locations) That is the only down in this beautiful place.
- Nigel (10/5): - I went into this with eyes wide open after reading all the reviews. Yes the parking is a long way away (you can’t drive in the town), and yes climbing the steep staircases with luggage is difficult, but the place itself is wonderful. Provided you arrive at the P1 parking lot before 7:00pm and call the number you are given at least 30 mins beforehand, and providing someone in your party is fit enough to carry your luggage several steep and narrow flights of stairs, I highly recommend the place.
- Yan (9/5): Superb -
- Melissa (7/5): Absolutely stunning views, great room and fabulous breakfast - Room was great and the breakfast (additional charge) was excellent - we didn't need lunch so ended up being quite economical! Shuttle transfer from car park to hotel as described did not happen. It was very unreliable and we were not the only ones that were impacted. We ended up walking which was not so bad despite the intense heat as we had back packs and are reasonably fit. It would not have been possible if you had lots of luggage or health problems. Staff were not sympathetic at all to other guests who complained.
- Nelson (10/5): Best in Hallstatt - The best you can get in Hallstatt! Staff was friendly, we arrived early and they helped bring our bags up the stairs. Room was huge with amazing views. Breakfast was a nice touch as well! Can’t wait to return
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved staying here!! Roshni was so kind and quick to reply to any questions we had. My husband loved the option of reserving the sauna. Please note, you will have to walk with your bags to reach this as it is not accessible by car and you will have to take your luggage up the stairs.
- Jonathan (2/5): - Worst travel experience I’ve ever encountered, & we are frequent travelers. First, poor communication & a disorganized arrival. You cannot park by the hotel, but at a designated lot with no Hallstatt Hideaway shuttle is available to you despite being told you are assigned a personal contact to assist with checkin. They don’t have their own shuttle, where the other hotels do. We waited at the designated lot for 1.5 hours, with random shuttles arriving that can only seat 6-8 people, but mind you there are 40 ppl waiting & more arriving with no order. From 3p-7p we attempted to call the property for assistance but no answer. After waiting 1.5 hours we were advised to “walk it.” It’s about 2 miles through cobblestone streets & up countless steps with no signage to indicate its location, direction to travel, or where the checkin is. We parked at 3pm, we didn’t arrive & check in to the hotel until after 7pm. Upon arrival to the property the owner & an employee were present. The owner was rude and condescending. She told us this was not her problem and she didn’t care since she’s already been paid & we should just be glad she allows ppl to stay here. She discontinued the conversation after mocking us & offering no support, apology or resolution. As other reviews state she takes no accountability and shifts blame. Her communication and reasoning are juvenile, especially attacking a 70 year old woman (my mother).
- Darshen (6/5): - Hallstatt hideaway is situated one road above the waterline and difficult to get to with luggage. I think this would be true for most properties however if the property description had been clearer about this I would not have booked as our trip did not allow for me to pack light, this was just a short stop on my holiday. The view from the suite is good but the rest was a real let down. There is no one to help with luggage when you get there so that would be another thing I would have liked to be mentioned.
For the price point I would except better amenities, cleaning without having to ask for it (and then further prompting them to come in after I returned), fully stocked fridge, access to the sauna without extra payment as we had on the other lake front properties which actually had direct access to the water. Our particular superior lake view suite has no air conditioning due to the ‘preservation of the property’ which is fine but better cooling aids should be provided than a small Dyson. I have stayed in many preserved properties and had a great time. The service needs work. Eg. tell guest we have to be organized and book the shuttle, WhatsApp me before so I have your contact number, tell me how to get attention at the property
Hallstatt in my opinion is a day trip at best and not worth the effort to stay in the town. Most places are a massive tourist trap. Most places close early and the food options in the town are abysmal compared to other lakes in Austria.
- Greg (6/5): Pleasant -
- Laura (1/5): Bad - Staff is so mean and rude, from my experience the Austrians are so rude but the staff at this place are even worst! If you are going to work in hospitality, you should at least be nice and respectful to the guests. Even from our communication through email and phone prior to the trip, the people answering my emails and calls were so rude. I DO NOT recommend this place. The way I was treated over the phone/email.
- Margaret (9/5): Spectacular view - The view from the room is spectacular and picturesque. Nothing
- Denise (6/5): Not worth the cost - This property is indeed a hidden gem, great location, great view, however it is not worth the price they are charging. On arrival we were met by possibly the cleaner, he did not seem to know what he needed to tell us and had to call someone who then proceeded to talk to him for a considerable amount of time, when all we wanted to do was get to the room and rest after travelling. The room had remanence of the previous guests, including a soaking wet greasy sponge, hairs in the shower, full rubbish bin and luckily we did not get straight into the hot tub as about 3 hours after we arrived someone else came to say it had not yet been cleaned and she would come to do it later. I believe there was a private garden and sauna we could use but we were not told about this and no information in the room. Considering we had a hot tub we were only given two towels and on the second day we assumed these would be replenished but on returning from being out all day, nothing had been touched. We then received a WhatsApp message about 4pm asking when we wanted this to be done! Considerably late when they had all day to do this as we left at 7:30am. This place really does have the potential to be great but they need to get more organised, train their staff and consider the little things that make a big impact on a stay
- Koktiong (8/5): Very good - Clean and spacious room. Nice and beautiful lake view.
