Most of all the food at this place was beyond, lentil soup, lamb apricot chutney, mushroom stew with fresh croissant, salmon fish cakes plus home made whiskey cheese cake and chocolate Carmel tart
Amazing price
- David (6/5): - The facility offers free wifi but the signal was very weak and dropped out repeatedly. For international travellers who rely on wifi for communication and planning will find it difficult to use. Breakfast is not offered early for travellers on an early rise itenerary. No wash cloths in the bathroom for showering. Lighting in the room was dim and one bulb did not work. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. Check in was fine.
- Tara (10/5): - The staff were amazing and so personable. The area was beautiful.
- Paul (10/5): One Night Stay - Nice clean and well-kept room
Very friendly and welcoming host
Excellent breakfast
Comfortable bed in a decent sized room
Decent en-suite with shower
Good amount of on-site parking
- Antony (10/5): Lovely comfortable stay in traditional B&B - Fabulous place, warm, spacious and comfortable. Excellent food. Craig & Heather were excellent hosts.
- David (10/5): - Great room, great breakfast, great service!
- Graeme (10/5): - We had a lovely stay with Heather and Craig. Room 1 was ground floor, quite roomy and very comfortable. We enjoyed our evening meal which after dining out for a couple of weeks during our trip it felt like a perfect home cooked meal. We liked the options for breakfast and once again enjoyed our selections.
- Ian (8/5): - Very limited options in this part of Scotland so I didn't have any great expectations prior to arriving, but was pleasantly surprised.
Yes it is a bit tired looking in places, but looking past that, and far more important, it is welcoming, clean, comfortable and serves very good food. Everything you could want after a long day travelling or walking.
The hosts are very dedicated and great to chat with. I would have happily stayed longer and would have no issues with staying there again should I be in the area.
- Randy (10/5): - This was perfect for what we were looking for. Hosts were incredible.
- qingsheng (10/5): - Host was very friendly.
- John (8/5): - A little dated
- Betty (10/5): - Lovely warm welcome , comfortable beds and a good breakfast
- MICHAEL (10/5): - Excellent accommodation run by a charming couple.
- Lesley (6/5): - In desperate need of update.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Very welcoming and kind. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom, big and clean. The bar/restaurant served excellent food and drinks. Delicious!
A little out of Thurso but worth the drive.
- Fiona (10/5): Excellent welcome! - We stayed here as part of our journey from Land's End to John o'Groats. Lovely welcome from the owner with use of a locked workshop for our bikes. Great to have a tasty evening meal there too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable and friendly
- John (10/5): - Dry friendly owners and delicious meals.
- Tony (10/5): Lovely overnight stay on the north Scot 500 mile - Great service from a lovely couple who are the proprietor of the Inn.
Breakfast included which was superb.
Well done team
Highly recommended
- John (10/5): Geat NC500 find - Small country inn with friendly hosts.
Rooms were clean amd comfortable.
Breakdast was delicious.
Ate in the bar on the evening amd the Venison casserole was famtastoc, especially followed by the fudge amd whosky cheesecake. All the food was freshly made by Craig amd Heather.
Extensive range of local whiskies that are worth a look at.
- David (10/5): - Excellent service cans home cooked food. Great selection of beers and whiskies
- hannah (10/5): - This was our best accomadation on the NC500
- Holger (10/5): - Wir waren auf Durchreise mit unseren Fahrrädern dort. Sehr angenehme Gastgeber, hilfsbereit. Zimmer hat alles was man benötigt, sauber und komfortabel. Abendbrot in der Bar im Hotel war super, genau wie das Frühstück. Klare Empfehlung.
- hari kishore (10/5): - Here's a more polished version of your message:
"Heather and Craig are outstanding hosts, and their warmth and love for hosting guests is truly evident. The breakfast is excellent, with a fresh homemade fruit salad that adds a personal touch. We stayed in the family room, which was very clean and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The beds were comfortable, and the ensuite met all our needs."
- Heidi (10/5): - Homely, family-run inn offering excellent bed and breakfast. Our room was comfortable and brightly decorated and had an en suite shower room. Breakfast was excellent. We also dined at the bar/restaurant adjoining the B&B, which offers a good menu of delicious food prepared and cooked on the premises at reasonable prices. The bar is well stock with a wide variety of drinks.
- Jan-Eric (10/5): - A wonderful place to stay for anyone traveling along the north coast, whether by car or by bike like us on the NC500 and our way from Land's End to John o'Groats. Lovingly furnished rooms, spotlessly clean, a small bar full of character with the chance of very good food in the evening, equally good breakfast in the morning. Craig & Heather, the owners, take care of everything. We can highly recommend the Strathy Inn
- Ioannis (10/5): - We really enjoyed the night at Strathy Inn
We loved the owners
- Kevin (10/5): Nice Stay - Nice stay and very friendly host. We were running late, but that didn't matter. Prawn / Fish Cakes were very good.
- David (10/5): - Everything about the place is unique, seems to me. The hosts, Craig and Heather, are the best. The food (and whiskey) cannot be topped. It is located right on the most stunning, rugged, beautiful coastal area I have ever seen. Of course, you need a car, and more time and energy than you probably have, to enjoy it all sufficiently.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Tremendous host and hostess. Restaurant phenomenal.
- J (10/5): Outstanding with fab food - Superb place, wonderful attention to detail,
Outstandingly good food 😋
Very highly recommended
- Jeremy (10/5): - We stayed a nice and it was a great experience with good food.
- Susan (10/5): - This property is a husband and wife team, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable regarding the surrounding area. The wife was the cook for their bar and her food was very good!
- Gerard (4/5): Overnight stay in in the north of Scotland - Welcome was uninspiring. Room was ok but directly of the breakfast area. Towels were handkerchief size. All internal access locked. Food was microwaved and each ping indicated the arrival of the next dish. Breakfast bacon was overcooked but eggs underdone. The microwave fixed one but exploded the other. All a bit amateurish for an established place. Room itself was ok.
- David (10/5): Strathy inn nc500 - The inn was quiet but the owners were really friendly and helpful. The room was comfortably and the food great
- Bronwyn (10/5): - Lovely couple run this boutique hotel. Room was great, bed lovely and comfortable. Meal options were good. Would not hesitate recommending this hotel.
- Colin (8/5): - More like a large B&B than a hotel. The owners are friendly and attentive. Heather is a great cook and we enjoyed dinner and breakfast. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There is no town in the vicinity, so once settled in, don't anticipate going out again.
- Lesley (10/5): - Strathy Inn was a wonderful overnight stop. The hosts were very welcoming and happy to share their knowledge of the area. The evening meal was excellent, and the breakfast outstanding. The room was super comfy, warm and quiet- definitely a place worth stopping at!
- shane (10/5): - Great stay
Great food
Great hosts
- Kathryn (10/5): - Great room, great welcome, great food!!
- Susan (8/5): - First the good things about this property… it is clean and the owners are very kind and helpful and the food served in the bar and for breakfast is very good. I really would like to give this property a better review but I have to be honest. As other guests pointed out, it is in the middle of no where with only one dining option in the area being the restaurant at the campground. Dinner is available at the Inn and was very good but quite expensive for what it was. The Inn itself is old and the furniture is a mix of styles from the 70s and some antiques. The rooms are small and our bedroom was next to the small room that served as the sitting room and breakfast room which meant you could hear others in the breakfast room while try to sleep. My husband also complained that it had a musty smell. It also was quite expensive for what it had to offer, being the same price as the Gairloch hotel but not coming even close to the same standard offered. If you are looking for a clean hotel with friendly hosts and a good breakfast and decent dinner and are not concerned about your surroundings or the price than I would most definitely recommend the Strathy Inn.
- Gail (10/5): - Lovely wee coaching inn. A very comfortable room, a bar to have an evening drink, and a delicious breakfast.
- Pam (10/5): - Good sized, well appointed, clean room. Very friendly and welcoming hosts, nice welcome from Heather when I arrived and clear explanation about the room. Went to the bar for a beer and had a nice chat with Craig who was behind the bar. Breakfast was lovely. I stayed here during my NC500 (North Coast 500) road trip, I strongly recommend it as a nice place to stay.
- Geraint (10/5): - Excellent food and friendly hosts
- D (10/5): Hidden Gem - Great owners, good food, very accommodating,informative. Clean, Wi-Fi
An all round lovely place to stay with great surroundings.
- W (8/5): Fantastic stay nearby beautiful beach - We enjoyed staying in Strathy Inn. Very friendly and professional host. The room and bathroom were clean. Comfortable beds and good facilities. The breakfast was really tasty.

Homely, comfortable, wonderful hosts.
Fresh cooked food delicious
- Tariq (10/5): - Very pleasant room with great bed, and nice view. The owners were friendly and gracious. The breakfast was delicious.
- faye (10/5): Thanks so much - Lovely hosts, nice room and great food. Only small comment would be the tv is a little small and low for viewing when in bed but other than we really enjoyed our short stay.
- Darren (10/5): Excellent highly recommended - Excellent place to stay. Very comfortable, friendly service. Bed was especially comfy. Lovely breakfast and the restaurant/ pub attached was ideal. Excellent food. Highly recommended
- Verified traveler (8/5): Different type of stay - This was very different lodgings then any other we stayed on during our trip. The room smelt musty and the furniture is a mix of 50's dark wood mixed with 70's formica. Hosts were good.
- Barbara (10/5): - Wonderful place! We felt really welcome and our hosts were lovely. Having the Inn on site for evening meals was superb.
- Dom (10/5): - Friendly owners, great rooms and lovely food.
- Howard (10/5): - Excellent food at good value
- Nicolas (10/5): Small, Friendly and Quiet - Lovely couple running The Strathy Inn - the Inn is really small and therefore offers a personal feel. I think there are 3 guest rooms in total. The bar area is just as quaint and has a few tables. The breakfast on the morning we left was the best breakfast in our 30 day trip. Thank you Strathy Inn.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful, food was excellent and the rooms where very nice and spacious, there a lovely beach just down the road what you spend a couple of days at.
- Alan (10/5): Strathy Inn - Recommended! - Very comfortable.
Dinner and breakfast both excellent
Friendly welcoming couple
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic hosts Craig and Heather made us very welcome providing lovely food and very comfortable stay. Also provided us with good advice regarding our journey NC 500 and places to see as well as local history . Had a fabulous walk to the nearby light house which we where able to encounter much wildlife. Thank you Heather and Craig xx
- Andrew (10/5): Strathy - A welcome stopover in a clean friendly establishment. Large quiet room. Covid regs all well managed. Lovely reasonable priced home cooked meals and refreshing drinks available. Great breakfast included. Helpful hosts who share local info on where to visit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Remoteness and raw beauty of the area Home cooking , staff very accommodating !
- Jesse K. (10/5): Cozy B&B - Stopped for the night while touring the North Coast 500., Room was clean and good amenities, very charming. The couple that run the inn were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was great! Would happily return
- Alex (10/5): - Super friendly hospitality with great food at the bar restaurant. Looking forward to staying here again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Disappointed that Strathy Inn was not closer to Thurso - Thurso is it's postcode area - my fault, I should have checked it out. Pretty basic - rather tired - but breakfast excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely quiet location, excellent and friendly service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hosts very accommodating and helpful about sites to visit

Very Comfortable accommodation.
Excellent Dinner.
Brilliant Breakfast.
Fabulous surroundings.
- DLB (8/5): - Great location for this quaint old inn. Nearby to a beautiful beach and lighthouse. Rooms are nice sized, beds are hard but plenty of pillows and blankets. The hosts are very friendly and if you can do eat in their bar/restaurant! The food is very good!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very hospitable and a great location. Would recommend.
- Arlo (10/5): - Very remote with ocean views. Breakfast and evening meals were outstanding. The small pub was also enjoyable.
- Heather (10/5): Cute little hidden gem - The couple that runs this B&B are amazing. They are welcoming and will go out of their way to make your stay wonderful. The food is out of this world.
- Derek (10/5): - Great stop on the North Coast 500. Great tips from the hosts, and some of the best food I had on the entire vacation!
- Carol (8/5): Scenic - Great hosts, good food well equiped room with everything we needed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely, quiet setting. - Had a great sleep in a very comfortable bed. The room was large and very quiet. We had dinner at the restaurant, it was the best meal we have had in Scotland on this trip so far! We also had the chance for a drink in the little pub, thoroughly enjoyed the conversation and the beverage selections. This stay was an excellent experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): STRATHY INN NC500 - lovely food & accommodation.
Helpful & freindly owners.
- Richard (10/5): - Delightful. Old coaching inn nicely updated. Owners very pleasant. Had a very nice dinner and the breakfast was excellent. Room very comfortable. Great bed and had a wonderful night’s sleep. Would definitely return.
- Gary (10/5): - My second stay, just as good as first, owners make you feel at home. Very good home cooked food in restaurant.
Thank you.
- Gordon (10/5): Superb find. Excellent hosts and accomodation - This is run by a lovely couple who have gone out of their way to make the guest experience memorable in the best sense. Comfortable, clean and spacious room, excellent breakfast and able to eat in the evening in the adjoining inn. Will definitely be back for a longer stay.
- Barry J (10/5): Strathy Inn.....EXCELLENT!!! - Our 1 night stay was excellent. Craig and Heather were excellent and pleasant hosts and Craig gave us some interesting information regarding the local area. Craig and Heather prepare all the meals and also provide their homemade jams and the like. The dinner menu was mainly based on local produce with some very interesting selections. We didn't realise that dinner was available at the Strathy Inn and, unfortunately we hadfood just prior to our arrival. We did however manage to have a soup and entree and they were delicious. The meals that were served looked very good. The cooked breakfast was excellent. Would certainly recommend the Strathy Inn to our fellow travellers.
- Sharon (10/5): Strathy Inn for 500 tour - We were made to feel very welcome by the owners and our room was very comfortable . Food served in the bar was home cooked piping hot and delicious . We spent a pleasant evening in the bar talking to other guests and the owners . Breakfast was great fresh fruit cocktail and natural yoghurt and choice of full English or eggs done all ways with hot brown toast and homemade jams .
- Sarah (8/5): A great base to explore the stunning local area - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Strathy Inn, if you enjoy the outdoors this hotel is ideally placed, with stunning coastline and coves nearby. We enjoyed a home-cooked meal in the restaurant where the owners enthusiasm to support local producers was apparent - particularly with the range of drinks available in the bar & their knowledge of them. We followed the advice in the folder left in our room & went for a walk by the lighthouse & after dinner enjoyed drinks by the roaring fire in the bar & both agreed this would be an ideal place to get snowed in at! Our room was clean & tidy & although not as up to date/modern as some places that we stayed on the trip, it was comfortable and the hosts were both very hospitable & welcoming. Had we stayed for longer or if bad weather had set in, I am sure we would have taken advantage of the extra touches such as the small dvd library, board games & books on offer to use during our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I Arrived for one night as touring by motorbike. Friendly traditional Inn. I was greeted by owner on my arrival. I had a very nice clean room with a large bathroom across the hall . The day I arrived the B&B was quiet but I was offered an evening meal in front of the fire which had been cooked freshly in the kitchen . There is lots of local knowledge from the owners for visitors to do in the area. I had a great breakfast in the morning including home-made rhubarb and ginger jam Yum .
- Verified traveler (10/5): Friendly quiet and great food - This is a small, quiet, friendly Inn. The food is great.
- Ian (10/5): Lovely place to stay - The B and B is owned and run by Heather and Craig. Very welcoming, attentive, very good breakfast.
- David (8/5): Nice place to stay - We stayed here for one night, we were pleased with our room, it has been recently decorated/upgraded to a high standard, the room and bathroom were large and very clean, the bed was comfortable. There was no noise either from the road or inside and all the rooms were booked. We had an evening meal in the bar which was very nice, the breakfast choice was good and the service from the host was very good from start to finish. We would recommend this accommodation and would look to return if in the area again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cute place in a remote location - Wonderful dinner cooked by the lady of the house. It was a wonderful stopping point while traveling to Thurso and on to the Orkneys
- L (8/5): On way to john o'groats - Good personal service, a welcome stop on motorcycles!
- Jim (10/5): Great location - Really nice place to stay, very handy having the bar and restaurant in the same location. The meals were excellent and our hosts terrific.
