- Yvonne (10/5): Great train accommodation and fab Greek food. - Very quirky accommodation, super friendly staff. Excellent food. If you get to eat in the buffet car it feels like the orient express. If I am ever in York again I would certainly stay here.Remember you are next to a working railway. Good for those with limited mobility as on the mostly flat, but unlikely to get a wheelchair down the aisle of the accommodation so I would suggest calling before booking as they may have more accessible than we had.

Only difference is, last time we came the meal was in the price of the room and breakfast, this time we paid seperate and extra. Our cabin was cosy and was equipped with a en-suite, we really slept well even tho your next to a rail mail line. Breakfast was nice but basic unless you upgraded to a full English. You cannot knock the price

The room (Robin Hood) was extremely clean and had everything you could possibly need. Breakfast was very good (we had the continental breakfast so can’t comment on the full English). Not too keen on the cockerels outside at 5am though!!

Our room had many bad points, the shower room wants ripping out and starting again. Poor fittings, the shower was riddled in black mould around fittings, sections of shower metal work were missing, cracked tiles, ripped Lino, broken shower tray. The food was first class, the staff was so helpful I thought there might have been Croissants for breakfast but no. and the room was lovely I slept very well, There was no hairdryer so wife had to have slightly damp hair, only one set of shower gel etc..John who showed us to our room told us not to leave the light on in the bathroom as it would keep him awake as it had a loud fan and he was in the next room.

The only thing I would have liked to have seen and this would be just to make the ambience slightly more authentic would be that all the staff wore a uniform fitting with the era of a train station. We were served drinks and our food order taken by John who really looked the part in a lovely waistcoat, shirt and trousers but the rest of the staff were wearing just skinny jeans and a t shirt. They were friendly and helpful but I think it would just have added that extra little touch. Apart from that it was fabulous and we will definitely go again and also recommend to friends and family.

Great coach conversions given the constraints of carriage space - anyone with an interest in trains would love it. Does look 'lived in' and a little worn though, which may simply be a result of its popularity. My only criticism is that some items could do with changing( dining room chairs look a bit shabby and some areas need a lick of paint and some tlc) our on suite( seagull room) could do with painting and we had to ask for toilet paper as not enough left for us.

- Holly (10/5): Cute little getaway - I booked this hotel for a getaway for myself and boyfriend. The hotel is lovely and the rooms are clean and tidy. Its completely different to any hotel we have ever stayed in. We stayed in the Yorkshire Pullman carriage which was close to the bar and restaurant so ideal of you have a few drinks :) but can be a little noisy if you were wanting a quiet night. We ate at the restaurant both nights we stayed. The first night was Valentine's day so a special menu was on and the meal was exceptional. The second night we ate of the original menu which was beautiful as well (although far too much food but not a complaint. We just had eyes bigger than our bellies). We ate in the dining carriage both nights which was beautifully dressed and looked amazing. Breakfast was included each morning and the continental selection was good and the option to upgrade to a full English is there. Both dining places look out over the railway tracks so plenty of trains to be seen and the view beyond is great. The staff who were there were friendly and could not do enough for you! We enjoyed our visit so much we are already looking at returning in summer :)

The food was very reasonably priced( £15 for 2 courses) and was delicious. However our room was certainly not the best , we arrived Friday afternoon and left Sunday morning without either my husband or i using the shower , it was very mouldy and dirty . Crockery was chipped , chairs ripped ,dining furniture was worn and damaged . we couldn't fill the kettle in our room as it was too big to get under the tap .Its such a shame that attention to detail let the place down . Re investment would not come amiss and then they would have the complete package .

- Verified traveler (10/5): A gem - Fabulous. The welcome was warm. Friendly environment. Roaring fire. Comfy bed superb onsuite. Breakfast. I opted for the continental. Plenty of choice. Ham cheeses. Selection of bread and cereals. Fresh fruit. Choice of beverage. Breakfast room very spacious and airy overlooking fields. The railway line is near and it was fantastic to see the trains. Great venue. Will definitely return Christmas menu has plenty of choice. I only wish we could stay over Christmas. Oh yes. Really well placed for a trip into York or many of the shopping venues.

Food was absolutely superb, the best I’ve had in a long time and coming from someone who has very little interest in food that is praise indeed! All the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Highly recommended
