Everything about the place is so amazing. And yes it looks like in the photos and more than this. Do visit!!!! Justin is the entertaining one😂 almost forgot to talk about the amazing drive there and the views. Actually everyone there is amazing. The lady from the kitchen is so nice and the other guy mark i think and the old man as well. The receptionist is lovely. Also the food is 10/10. Nothing

- Bisini (10/5): ⭐️⭐️THE BEST HOSPITALITY & BREATH-TAKING SCENERY IN KAMBERG ⭐️⭐️ - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
THE BEST HOSPITALITY & BREATH-TAKING SCENERY IN KAMBERG
Our stay at Silver Hill Lodge has been nothing short of spectacular!!!
The hospitality is unrivalled (proper South African 🇿🇦 hospitality through and through) and the scenery/setting is stunning.
There are ample hiking trails around and lots of activities to keep the whole family entertained regardless of the weather.
Each and every staff member at the lodge takes exceptional pride in what they do. The lodge therefore feels like home. You can feel the warmth between the staff and guests; and between the staff themselves.
The food is exceptional - fresh, tasty and delicious! They accommodate every palate and dietary requirement.
The lodge is absolutely clean, neat and tidy. The attention to detail is insane.
I wish I could state each staff member’s name, but the list is long and they are ALL exceptional human beings ❤️ (They remember every guest by name!)
We will definitely be back (for the 3rd time) next year!
Do not hesitate booking here. N/A
- Mathidi (8/5): Very good - On arrival we were welcomed by Danita who was such a delight to deal with. We had a beautiful breakfast to start the day as well. The views are absolutely breathtaking. There was a very unpleasant lady who turn us down when we asked for a quick lunch meal after our sight seeing. If guests are hungry and that is the only restaurant you have, there should be light meals that can be offered that do not take a lot of effort. Turning down hungry guests is simply rude and unhospitable. After dealing with a sweet gentleman from PMB (i forgot his name) i wished we had spoken to him instead. The less she deals with guests, the better.
- Sarah (10/5): Beautiful people, nature, food in one place. - Beautiful surroundings Nothing
- Richard (10/5): Great hospitality, good food and service, helpful staff and made the stay very enjoyable - View was beautiful Nothing
- Barry (7/5): Very warm stay at beautiful lodge - Very very friendly staff doing everything to comfort you! Acces road to Lodge was under repair and very bad. As result lodge is isolated from surrounding places and activities. Minor - rooms and interior are little out dates
- Tsoanelo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anisha (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent service, hospitality and friendly staff. Beautiful surroundings.
Homely yet classy The route... under construction
- Cameron (7/5): Good -
- Adm (9/5): Stunning place to stay in the Drakensbergen area - Fantastic location with stunning views.
Very friendly hosts.
Dinners and breakfast were great
The first two nights we were the only guests, which gives you a the feeling that you stay in your own property.
Although a bit isolated from the world, internet works fine.
Very spacious room and a good bathroom. There is nothing that disappointed us.
- Matthias (10/5): Welcoming stay with beautiful view. - It was absolutely lovely. You felt extremely welcome here. They even prepared a surprise for my girlfriends birthday. We could not have been happier.
- Hamid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Koot (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shivani (8/5): Cosy night away - Wonderful cosy lodge, super welcoming staff!
Lodge holds a certain old world charm yet it’s modern.
- Ryan (10/5): Cozy and warm in the dumping snow - Location, service and food was fantastic! Very hospitable and an awesome property. We took a family of 5 with 3 x kids and it turned out to be quite expensive as dinner wasn't included in the price.
- Karole (8/5): Cosy atmosphere with a stunning view - Stunning surroundings. Beautiful view. All people are extremely nice and helpful. Room was large and comfortable and clean. Food was very good. Cosy atmosphere. Feel like home. Could be a bit modernized. Road to arrive is not easy.
- Matthias (10/5): Marvellous stay in an exceptional surrounding. - Our stay was amazing and made us feeling like being at home right from the beginning. All people working there are absolutely caring about their guests. Breakfast & Dinner was delicious.
- Adriaan (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): A wonderful slice of South Africa in the Drakensberg. - Excellent staff who were incredibly welcoming. They made us feel like part of the family. The lodge is in a beautiful setting with immediate access to good walks. We drove in by night which was a little challenging but the staff provided excellent guidance which ensured it was a safe trip. The food was excellent and facilities very comfortable. Highly recommended. Nil
- Jerry (10/5): Exceptional - See my previous comment
- Jerry (10/5): Great place to stay in family - Nice place to share our love for South Africa in family. The food is excellent
- Lindiwe (9/5): An enjoyable overnight stay at Silver Hill Lodge - The cleanliness of the property, homeliness of the rooms and the delicious breakfast and friendly staff. Nothing
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Kirsty (10/5): A beautiful property that ensures a mental break and a spiritual revival - The staff here were friendly and more than willing to ensure we were comfortable and had what we needed.
With our strict dietary requirements, the meals were satisfying and tasty every night and morning, ensuring that we enjoyed our meals there. If you run hot, and leave the windows open, be warned that there are bats and they do make their way into the rooms should you need the cooler air at night.
This was not our experience, but we were aware of the possibility.
- Susan (10/5): Good for the soul. - Friendly, peaceful and beautiful. Plenty to do on the farm - dams for trout and bass fishing, trails for walking, bird watching. Neighbours Highmoor Nature Reserve, which is awesome for hiking. Staying at Silver Hill Lodge feels like staying with family :) Silver Hill Lodge is really great but…whilst the scenery along the way is absolutely beautiful, I would only drive the last hour of the road in a 4x4 vehicle and not at all if it is wet…we had a 4x4 and the drive was easy.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - staffs are so nice and I feel i am at home.
- Kumari (10/5): We enjoyed here a lot and food was too yummy and staff are awesome and friendly nature. - Property itself has beautiful view and clean. This is not applicable for this lodge
- Revell (10/5): Silverhill lodge getaway - Wow, there's so much to like! The location is so so amazing. The views of our stunning kzn mountains, the peace and tranquility of nature. And the hosts were great, welcoming and friendly, made us feel at home. You guys are doing an excellent job. Nil
- Hazel (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff, made us feel like part of
an extended family The road from Nottingham Toad TERRIBLE
- Nicola (9/5): Superb -
- Hugo (10/5): Exceptional - Such a beautiful place, with such beautiful surroundings, makes it a peaceful place. The people of Silver Hill are wonderful
- Gareth (8/5): Very good -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Once in a lifetime experience due to exceptional staff, surroundings and food - Exactly as per pictures, it was magnificent
- Anna (10/5): Beautifully located lodge! - Beautiful location, great food and super friendly staff! Can't think of anything
- Kerina (8/5): Friendly staff - Staff very friendly Their menu was a set menu which becomes so difficult for a person to eat what they are not accustomed to. The Christmas menu was not worth the amount
- Marais (9/5): Superb -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Masaki (9/5): Superb -
- A (8/5): Lovely mountain environment, - Breakfast was good, Since we are very keen on bird photography the fact that the owners put bird seed on a large flat stone twice a day under a tree in the extensive lawn outside our room gave us an amazing opportunity to take exceptionally good close-ups of many colourful and interesting birds. Lovely views of the Drakensberg mountains from the lodge's expansive grounds. The road from Rosetta to the lodge had too many potholes! Consequently it was a longer than expected journey and very tiring. We would have liked to see the rare bearded vultures, the owners are running a conservation project for these endangered birds, but trips to see them are only on Saturdays at the moment.
- Joanne (8/5): Unforgettable time in a beautiful location. - The room was clean and pretty. The lodge was stylish and comfortable. Very beautiful. The road getting to the lodge was not the best. So it is not the property itself.
- Etienne (9/5): Superb - Good location, quiet, great view of the mountains, the staff were great and know the area well which helped us exploring.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Yorick (10/5): Like a home - Set in a stunning location. Large room. But most of all a friendly, homely atmosphere. Almost like family. Great dinners and excellent wines by the fire. So much to see and do in the vicinity. We loved it. Nothing.
- William (8/5): Very good - Very clean, comfortable room. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent. The long gravel road to get to the property, no TV or fridge in the room.
- Zandi (9/5): Great hidden gem with clean facilities - Convenient and clean No complaints
- Sibusiso (7/5): Good - good
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sidney (5/5): Over priced not worth the money. Place is in need of an upgrade, de-clutter and spring clean. - Jason was welcoming, he chats a lot and may be a little to much for other guests, we like chatting so it was not an issue. Jason's expertise could be more utilized as a guide, he is very knowledgeable in general, very sociable and has a sound knowledge and passion of the area. Breakfast and supper were tasty and well presented. Our young male chef on Saturday was charming and has huge potential, our chef on Saturday was just as accomplished and very sweet. Definitely good for the business with far more potential than just a set menu. We were not informed that there would be No room service on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday after doing an 8km hike, came back and had to make up beds tidy rooms and wash coffee mugs, condiments were not replaced. No bottled water in rooms, found out late afternoon on the 2nd day, that we could drink the water from the taps. Double beds in rooms the linen and interior is drab and in need of an upgrade, no tv in bedrooms, not acceptable in 4 star hotel. Considering we paid for two rooms for two night stay, R15 000 including drinks, it would of been cheaper to stay at Drakensburg Sun, including breakfast and our stay would of been more comfortable with amenities for children. Reception was a disaster dirty, cluttered and untidy.
There are no option for Evening meals, set menu. They did make an exception as hubby did not eat pork and asked the following morning for alternative supper. Come supper time nothing had been arranged, after not having chops or rump, they made him chicken again, his meal was served after we had just about all finished. Not recommended for any person with an alternate diet. Dinning and bar area are in need of upgrade and TLC. If you don't want to eat at the hotel your alternative is a 80km ride, there and back on very bad roads, just over an hour of travelling to find a restaurant. Nothing on booking.com advising on the bad state of the roads. No amenities for our grand children, the play area had been closed for months, no pool, small dam on property but i think the boat was out of commission. The bikes and quad bikes were out of bounce for guests, Hotel is in a nature reserve but an exception could be made to ride the bikes within the property at a restricted speed or with a guide. To be honest we were all a little disappointed with what was available. The hotel has Beautiful views and stunning hikes. Hotel, definitely not 4 star rating. But has potential to be far more......
- Eric (9/5): Superb -
- 得丸 (10/5): Exceptional - Food is good. Racial segregation. Black people are working with low wage. Apartheid remains in South Africa. It was sad.
- Landiswa (9/5): Superb - Scenery was amazing and the stuff, omg those guys were friendly and always there to help with anything you required Not much activities around
- Natthaphong (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (9/5): Peace and tranquility - Beautiful tranquil setting. Everyone involved was friendly and made us feel welcome and part of the family. Excellent well cooked meals served next to a lovely log fire. The road to get to the lodge needs work
- Thobile (8/5): The place was breathtaking and staff members were amazing - Love the location No fishing
No canoeing
- Sedrick (10/5): Excellent accommodation with stunning views and exceptional service! - Fantastic cosy location.
Great and friendly service from each and every single staff member. Treated us as family.
All meals were of great home cooked quality. Common areas were very warm and comfortable especially with a two year old in toe. Rooms were exceptionally clean.
Comfortable beds with blankets/underfloor heating keeping us warm as it snowed during the night. Back-up generator helped during those load shedding hours - powering the entire lodge.
An ideal place to escape for a few days of rest and relaxation. Any Spa services would have been a great addition to the lodge.
Be wary of Kamberg Road leading up to the property - 30km of Dodgem pot holes (although no fault of the property).
- Zaresh (9/5): Superb -
- Vaughan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mitch (9/5): Superb - The team running the lodge treated you like family, good friends and not just customers. They go out their way to create a family like environment for every one. The facilities were extremely comfortable. We have 2 young kids and the playground being out of working order (it would appear it had not been maintained for some time), created a bit of challenge for us to keep the kids occupied while enjoying the lodge’s great facilities.
- Robert (9/5): Superb - It's a very nice place to relax and to forget about things. The lodge is located on a beautiful farm, you can do so many things in nature, like hiking and fishing. Everyone at the lodge is extremely friendly and lets you feel like it's your home. The dinner meals were always amazing and so delicious. Definitely worth visiting again.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - The restaurant and lounge facilities were very comfortable, with spectacular views over the mountain. The barista-made coffee was delicious. The staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming.
- Anand (10/5): Silver Hill offers breathtaking mountainous views and excellent company. - Silver Lodge is an ideal escape from the bustling City Life to Relaxation with Nature, Complimented by extraordinary Staff Hospitality. A Spa would be ideal
- Waldo (10/5): Exceptional - Food was amazing. Laurie's cooking was very good. I can recommend the Hake. Really enjoyed our stay. Nothing to dislike
- Willie (7/5): Good -
- Bisini (10/5): It was relaxing and enjoyable! - Breakfast was excellent.
Service was great.
Liked the friendly and approachable and easy-going staff Nothing really.
Except, the access road to get to the facility.
- Nicole (10/5): Could have stayed another week - beautiful setting, great food and friendly, interesting an helpful owners. - The very accommodating staff were amazing while no fault of the Lodges, the road has potholes, so plan more time for the scenic drive there.
- Andile (10/5): a beautiful location couples get away to reconnect. - beautiful views accompanied by welcoming and ever vibrant staff! No complaints about the property
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning location on a huge private nature reserve. Family run, all the staff are extremely welcoming, going out of their way to make you feel at home. Interesting natural oil remedy extraction factory on site. Loads to see and explore, chat to "front of house" Justin for ideas 😊 Take your time on the road once you take the turn off the highroad, lots of potholes
- Tanya (8/5): Very good -
- Waynno (9/5): Superb -
- Baierlythere (9/5): Wonderful, peaceful and visually stunning location and lodge! Walk, climb, explore - its perfect! - Silver Hill... its location, the staff attention and everything about the surroundings is outstanding! The peacefulness of the Drakensburg and the amount of activities that you can do, while there, makes this a perfect location to spend more than than 1 day! It would be nice if breakfast and all coffee drinks were simply included in the price, along with maybe 1 sundowner - as it is a perfect setting to just sit and enjoy. These small things really make a property stand out.
- Stefano (8/5): Very good -
- Hinze (9/5): Superb -
- Suzanne (9/5): Excellent stay - Lovely hosts, so warm and welcoming. Excellent food breakfast lunch and dinner. Incredible views from the room and lodge dining area. Lovely hike options and 3 small dams to fish and canoe on. Kamberg road (government road) leading up to the property is in terrible condition with a million potholes. It took us an hour to do that last 30km. At the property the children’s play area is limited and the jungle gym and trampoline needs some attention.
- Anastazja (10/5): amazing - It's a beautiful place with delicious breakfast. Very comfortable and has lot to offer. Staff is amazing, easy to talk to. The place is heartwarming with a true SA identity. Higy recomended. Thank you guys!
- Malemela (8/5): best lodge experience in the drakensberg - clean facility, warm staff, tranquil location, good food and best dessert broken roads to the lodge, some facilities like kiddies playgrounds and jungle gym need updating
- James (10/5): Amazing place with amazing people - Felt like we were visiting old friends, best hosts I have ever met. Great food and the most spectacular views.
- Dw (10/5): We left Silver Hills feeling like saying goodbye to family! - Staff goes out of there way to make sure you happy and taken care of, eager to help with anything you need. Best views while having 5 star dinner or breakfast with great cappuccinos. Our room was spotless, very comfortable bed with a feather duvet, and some of the softest towels after a hot shower at the end of a cold and rainy day. One of the best stays we had in a long time. Will most definitely visit again!
