Guest Reviews
- Skyler (10/5): Great value, location, amenities and overall location. - The food in the morning was excellent and the hospitality from the workers was amazing too. Location to the slopes was perfect too. My only complaint was the beds. They were comfortable enough to get a full night sleep. I have a bad back so my back hurt and felt tight in the morning. Otherwise it was perfectly sufficient
- Brian (10/5): - Hosts were amazing. Brekfast was fantastic.
- LADNER (10/5): Highly Recomment - Breakfast was good. Nice lounge. Excellent location steps from the hill. Hosts were friendly and helped give us rides. Room was big and spacious. Shower and tub in the washroom. NIce 80s charm while being in excellent condition
- Shakira (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay!! Everything about it was perfect. Such a cosy place, the best staff who were so kind and attentive. Super close to Happo One and the Ski school. Will definitely be coming back.
- Claire (10/5): - Paul and Tracey made you feel right at home. They were so accomodating and it was such a pleasant experience. Location is also great! Nothing at all!
- Joanne (9/5): Loved the hospitality and care - Paul and Tracey are wonderful hosts and lead a lovely team of staff who are all so friendly, helpful and polite. The breakfast was delicious and different each day.
On our first day I accidentally left my wallet and passports in the Uber car. The uber app was useless as it didn’t allow contact the driver. Tracey rang all the local companies and tracked down the driver who then brought back my bag with all my passports cards and cash inside!
The lodge is a very short walk to ski lifts and an easy (down hill) walk to Hakuba village. Paul also drove us back to the bus depot with our luggage on our last day There wasn’t a fire place for relaxing by after skiing

- Mireya (9/5): This is a lovely little gem in Hakuba! - I gave this property in nine because I’ve been to many little places in different parts of the world and for the price point I think the value is a nine.
The lodge was so clean and updated. The owners and staff were so friendly. I didn’t realize breakfast came with the room and it was such a lovely nice meal. I’ve never been to Hakuba before and I felt like it was a little bit difficult to get to. I think the hardest part was arriving late in the evening to the Hakuba bus depot and having a really hard time getting a cab. I did eventually get one, but it took about 45 to 50 minutes. Other than that, there wasn’t anything I disliked about the property.
- Courtland (10/5): Look no further, this is the place to stay! - If I could give more stars I would.
From our first email exchange to driving us to the bus station when we left, Paul and Tracy were incredibly helpful at every step. From helping us book a private onsen to cheering us on before skiing and sharing insider tips on the best mountain routes, he went above and beyond.
Paul truly embodies hospitality. He is genuinely happy to be there and makes you feel equally happy to be his guest.
The amenities were just as impressive: rotating hot breakfasts each morning, comfortable beds, hot showers, and a cozy common area. Everything was in excellent condition.
And the location couldn’t be better, practically ski-in, ski-out. If you’re considering staying here, don’t hesitate!
- Charles (10/5): great - Location, staff and overall facility No complaints

- Samuel (10/5): Outstanding staff, location and rooms. Thank you so much! - Everything was absolutely fantastic! Location perfect, room size excellent, staff could not do anymore to help. Paul, Tracey and the rest of the staff looked after us even organising things before we knew we needed them. From pick up and return of rental gear to ensuring breakfast to cater for our daughter with a dairy allergy everything was amazing. Thank you so much! Nil
- ANA (10/5): LOCATION AND STAFF 10/10 - Great location: short 5 min walk to the lift and close to some good restaurants / izakayas. The staff was AMAZING! Polite, kind, spoke English, and helped us with all our concerns (transportation, TA Q BIN, tips on how to change mountains, Hakuba Valley Bus itineraries, and how to buy train tickets to our next stop). The food from the breakfast was another great surprise! We left the property with our hearts warm. NA.
- Courtney (8/5): Convenient classic ski lodge - Great location less than 5 minute walk from a ski lift. Very kind and helpful owner. Spacious room. Minimalist ski lodge style. Bed was pretty hard, but slept alright.

- 高部 (9/5): ワンダフル‼️ - オーナーのポールさん、トレーシーさんのホスピタリティが最高だった‼️卵アレルギーの次男に心を込めたスペシャルブレックファーストをありがとうございました‼️ カメムシ・・・
- Allison (10/5): - The location was excellent and with the appropriate snow it was ski in/out. The owner is incredibly responsive, helpful, and kind. He even offered to give us a lift multiple times and ended up taking our group to one of the other mountains so we didn't have to wait for the shuttle. There were a few Japanese stinkbugs in the bathroom but that's just the norm for being in the countryside. The owner took care of them right away once notified.
- Brian (10/5): We enjoyed our stay very much. We felt like family with the kindness, rides and wonderful service. - Hakabo Landmark Happo Lodge was within walking distance to town and right next to the slopes. It made daily adventures possible for all in the family. The space was beautiful, very clean and the warm breakfast was very tasty and different each morning.
- Jane (10/5): Welcoming, Friendly Lodge - We highly recommend the Hakuba Landmark Happo Lodge. Our hosts we extremely welcoming and helpful during or stay. The rooms were generous in size, the breakfasts western style - every variety of eggs that you could think of, and the lodge is easy walking distance to the ski lift at Happo One or the shuttle service to other resorts.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Although the hotel was very close to the ski lifts but the property maintenance need to be reviewed as I suspect they use to have onsen bathrooms downstairs and the rooms only had tatami mats traditional sleep area as the bathroom design was weird. even though the room was big and the cardboards for the futon beds large the shower and toilet was tiny and there is no space to walk. The shower lights and fan did not work and the floor was taped with patch tap and I am pretty tiny there is no space for you to walk out of the shower without tripping or knocking yourself on the toilet. Also you cannot take off your pants to go to the toilet without hitting your head on the wall so you need to take off your pants outside before you walk in. Why didn't they make the wash basin next to the shower and the toilet where the wash basin outside the room was. Also the light control was next to the door there is no switch next to the bed so you trip over in the darkness to go to bed or turn on the lights. Even though there is a kettle but there is no power point near the table you need to use the power point next to the bed or on the floor next to the door. Breakfast is included and nicely cooked but I am sure 90% of people agree bacon and eggs and bread everyday is a put off especially if you are in Japan. My suggestion is all room design and rearrangement should be reassessed, simple thing as bedside lamp will be nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, beautiful building - everything you need is provided!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay! We picked Hakuba Landmark Happo Lodge as it was a good compromise between location and price. Several minute walk to Happo ski resort and we loved the freshly cooked breakfast every morning!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent staff, comfortable rooms, convenient location and yummy breakfasts. Paul and Tracey and all the staff made us feel very comfortable and went out of their way to assist us in any way possible, eg transfers, lift passes and advice. We loved our stay at Hakuba Landmark Happo Lodge. We hope to return in the future. We thoroughly recommend this property. Thankyou and Kind regards, Peter, Michelle, Brodie & Cooper
