They let themselves down at the last minute by attempting to charge me 500 for a taxi to the coach station that was a 6 min drive away: I booked the trip on Yango instead and it was 95!

The restaurant food was delicious. We will most certainly frequent again this guest house whenever we are in Maputo.

What stood out the most was the kindness of the staff, who were always helpful, friendly, and showed great flexibility in accommodating our needs. The location is perfect—very central and safe, making it easy to get around on foot or by public transport. The hotel’s restaurant also offers excellent service, with a good variety of quality options. Throughout our stay, we felt the team was truly attentive and willing to adapt, showing great responsiveness and attention to detail. We would definitely stay here again. It is a trade-off but the hotel has no gym, swimming pool or other amenities.

• Mallory (8/5): A simple guesthouse, ideal for a quick stay - This guesthouse was very clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and the room had all of the amenities that I needed. There was good wifi, a TV, coffee station, fridge, air conditioning, and mosquito net. I really enjoyed the breakfast that was included in my stay. Although this would be out of the control of the hotel owners, the hotel is located in front of a park. There was quite a bit of noise in the evening. It did become quiet when it was time to sleep. There were also a few mosquitos in my room, so I used the provided mosquito net while sleeping. There was a strong smell of mosquito repellant (or cleaning supplies) in my room.

We were coming from a long trip from the north of Mozambique and it was great to relax and have a good night's rest in such a conformable room.

Within the hour Mr. Bernardo came to pick me up from there and I arrived to a beautiful room with all the amenities, with breakfast on the patio and a relaxing atmosphere. I cannot thank them enough for their superb care and kindness. I highly recommend staying here, I wish I had found them from day one! You made my stay in Maputo wonderful and put a big smile on my face!

• Anete (6/5): Basic and ok for a short layover - I only stayed for one night before flying back home. The place was basic but clean and fit the purpose. We had to leave to the airport early in the morning so cannot comment on breakfast. Very helpful staff. It was Sunday and they did not have meals available, just drinks at the little lounge area, but we found a nice restaurant a short ride away (there are no shortage of options). A little outdated and run down facilities but functioning. There is no elevator - I had to carry a heavy bag up and down the stairs which are blocked by the door right next to the reception, so no room to manoeuvre, but I managed :-)

The hotel is in a very safe area, and the rooms are nice, but my favorite thing about the Sundown is how friendly and helpful everyone is. They were nice enough to give me same room on two bookings split by few days. They arranged my hotel airport transfers even very early in morning. Reasonable transport and restaurant prices. Rooms are good size with tv internet shower all working A+ quality. Great location not too loud and close to nice places to eat. Recommended.
