• Emily (7/5): Great location! - Fantastic location, walking distance to so many great bars/restaurants! It’s also right by the park which a wonderful place to wake up everyday. It was quite noisy at night but that’s due to location and the fact the hotel is in an old building (but that’s part of its charm). I also think a bit more attention to cleanliness would be good, particularly in bathrooms.

• LaurenP159 (10/5): A wonderful hotel in the beautiful Condesa neighborhood! - Loved our stay at Hotel San Fernando. It is located on a quiet street in the beautiful Condesa neighborhood. The whole vibe of the hotel was great, the lounge and bar were very inviting and cozy. The food and service were excellent! The only negative thing was that there is no A/C in the rooms, and the tower fan didn't cool the room as much as I would have liked! The room was spacious for two people, we had a kitchenette too! Overall we had a wonderful stay! I would highly recommend this hotel!

• Dewtrell (8/5): Nice Boutique Hotel - First of all, the location of this hotel cannot be beat in Condesa. Plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance - it is in the heart of the neighborhood. The rooms are a great size - it’s the perfect hotel for family travel as many of the rooms come with kitchens. We booked two rooms - one for the girls with a kitchenette and one of us which had a patio but no kitchenette. The only negative I have is our room had a glass door - not sure why some rooms have an actual wood door and others have glass. While it is frosted, having a glass door makes it difficult to block out the lights in the hallway in the evening. So, I recommend offering either a sleeping mask or having a black out curtain over the doorway to use in the evening. I had to sleep with my head under the covers.

Shower was small and did not get hot. Compared to the amazing restaurants surrounding the hotel the complementary breakfast could have been better.

• westerbergen (4/5): Needs A Lot of Improvement - The lobby is nice and the location is great, but that's the positives. We stayed in a king suite with kitchenette, and it was incredibly disappointing. The bathroom had hair on the floor and in the shower. There are layers of dust on the window sills and the around the shower that are noticeably visible. The molding above the bedroom door has a thick layer of dust and corners of the floor were dusty. Without a doubt the room has not been cleaned thoroughly in months. The room description says there is temperature control, but it does not work and is not connected. The shower doesn't drain water because the slant toward the drain isn't correct. The bathroom itself has ugly, dirty tiles that are cracked and old. There were dust accumulations on the walls in the bathroom. The paint job in the bathroom looks terrible. There are no counters or shelves in the bathroom and very little storage space in the bedroom. The general look—especially in the bathroom—is that the owners have no interest in maintaining the room as a comfortable, relaxing experience for guests. The hotel room was not up to the standards we expected, and it was very surprising and disappointing. The room was dirty and has not been kept looking good as a whole. This is a property that top level management and ownership does not care about being high quality. Our friends who stayed there with us at the same time expressed similar displeasure. The noise is as bad as over reviews say, yet that we really the least of our issues. I am surprised Hyatt would be associated with this hotel. That is stunning to us because we live in Austin and know are familiar with many Bunkhouse properties and have only observed and heard about positive experiences there.
• Road48554834826 (4/5): Disappointing - Our stay at the Hotel San Fernando was disappointing. The best thing about the hotel was the location, which was great. Beautiful area, lots of restaurants and bars in a short walking distance. The hotel feels old and uncared for. We stayed in a room with a terrace. The terrace was tiny and faced the back of the hotel, so no views to speak of. We never used the terrace for anything. Our room had a wall AC unit, but the controls were gutted out and there was no way to turn it on. We had friends staying in a different room and theirs was the same, did not work. There was a fan in the room, but it was inadequate. There was no comfortable place to sit. The bed is on a plywood platform very low to the ground, and the only chairs in the whole room were in the kitchenette, and they were tiny wooden chairs that were not good. I could go on with other frustration, but overall, this hotel seems very over-priced for what you get. We had an amazing long weekend in CDMX but this hotel was easily the low point of our trip. I would not recommend it at all.
• mooretate (6/5): Great Location and Cocktails, A Few Things to Know - We had a good overall stay. The hotel is lovely with great Mexican character, and the location is unbeatable. The bar was a highlight - excellent cocktails - and the staff was friendly. A few things to note: the showers were barely warm (not hot), and during a cold spell we were limited to one space heater per room, which was tough in our two-bedroom suite. There’s also no elevator, which could be challenging for some guests. Overall, a solid option for the price if you’re looking for charm and a great location.
• CestBon123 (4/5): Great location but very loud - wouldn't stay here again - Mixed bag for this hotel, but ultimately it's the random and very loud noise that would keep me from returning. Pros * great location in Condesa, lots of wonderful restaurants in walking distance * public spaces of hotel are quite nice (bar, lobby/restaurant, rooftop) * staff is friendly and helpful * rooms were large Cons * noise is the killer. We stayed 5 nights and had to switch rooms after being kept up until 1am with different noise each night (amplified street karaoke, bands, etc.) Oddly, the street looks quiet and there is only a sushi restaurant next door. But the windows are thin single pane and even with white noise, sleeping pill and ear plugs it was still impossible to sleep * rooms are oddly decorated and super basic for the price. Weird things like an outdoor glass patio door for the bathroom * the day we left nobody was at the front desk (7am) to help us get our bags down in the bag elevator even though we had confirmed the night before. There was another time that nobody was there and we had to hunt around to find someone to give us our key

Did not have hot water during our multiple day stay and for the rate paid, we expected more. Breakfast is also very basic, and when we came down for breakfast the fruit and pastries was picked over and didn't have enough for the two of us.
• mzkatt (10/5): Stay here!!!! - Fantastic location in my fav part of CDMX. Huge rooms. Be aware you do need to climb the stairs to the rooms as there are no elevators. They will bring your suitcases up in the dumbwaiter. Not much insulation between the walls, but things got quiet around 10pm. I would stay here again, for sure. Pics are from room 403

• sduprie (4/5): Maybe in half a year from now - This hotel has potential. The bar area has a good vibe and the cocktails are top notch. However, the rooms--despite being immaculately clean and with comfortable beds--were not finished. There was no power to the A/C/Heat unit. There was no hot water. This was not disclosed before booking. Further, the rooms are not sound-proofed. Even though the street is quiet by midnight, any voices or doors in the hallways are heard. The central stairwell carries noise from other floors. The staff needs more training in problem-solving. When asking about a space heater, the response was "they are in other guest rooms." That is not an acceptable response for someone paying to stay, expecting the advertised amenities of Heat and A/C. Hot water in the shower should be a given.
• N66MIjennifers (8/5): Lovely place, loads of charm, a bit noisy - Charming place in a beautiful neighborhood, easy walking distance to great places to eat and to Parque Mexico. Very nice staff, extremely helpful. The price wasn’t the greatest compared to other hotels, considering that it was noisy, and there was no elevator for our bags. They address the issues very well by providing a white noise machine and offering to help with the bags. You couldn’t ask for a lovelier location, atmosphere or staff.
• georgecH7398JP (10/5): Great location, charming old building. - Hotel San Fernando's location is amazing. It's right in the middle of the action in the beautiful La Condesa neighborhood. Many restaurants and bars nearby and just a few steps away from Parque Mexico. The staff is very helpful and it has a great bar/restaurant that serves breakfast and has a varied menu of food and drinks. A couple of caveats. If you are a traveler who needs to have a Four Seasons/Sofitel level of luxury hotel experience, this is probably not for you. It's in an interesting old art deco building, but it doesn't have an elevator. Also, since it's right in the middle of an active bar/restaurant neighborhood, it can be a little noisy on Friday and Saturday nights if you have a room facing the street. However. it's a charming place and I loved it.

We loved the neighborhood, and the food and cocktail service in the hotel were excellent. The Japanese restaurant was excellent as well. • Andrew (5/5): great location but the hotel needs a refresh and its not worth the price - I've stayed in this hotel before and I like its quirky charm and its in a great location near a lovely park the room was cold and I had to ask for a space heater. There is a lot of noise inside and outside the hotel (music etc.) I had to ask for the room to be cleaned on my second day as no one had been in. The towels need to be renewed. in general the decor is faded and needs to be refreshed.

• mikekW3662RI (6/5): Did not meet our expectations - The hotel is in an excellent location, easy to get to from all over the city. Unfortunately our state did not meet up the expectations. Our room was exceptionally loud on the second floor. I would recommend anyone staying here stay at a minimum on the third floor, and on the other side from the lounge which was very loud. Also, unfortunately, we didn't have hot water on any day. Lukewarm at best. I can't say I would recommend to stay at this hotel

• heyeyw (10/5): Best location, delightful art deco hotel - The location is amazing! Steps away from Parque Mexico and great cafes as well as bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel doesn’t have an elevator but that just means you can get some cardio in :) I wish the room was designed a little more thoughtfully but that was it (trashcans in all rooms not just the kitchen and a towel hook by the sinks etc). Staff was super kind and helpful. The Ocio suite was perfect for us.
• cyrusd2026 (6/5): Amazing location, but not very restful - Hotel San Fernando is a beautiful hotel in arguably the most beautiful neighborhood in CDMX, right off of Parque Mexico. For location and convenience alone, it is worth considering. That said, we did not experience a ton of comfort during our stay in December. The room was chilly and the shower never got hot, which was a recipe for rushing to get dressed and get outside. The towels were thin and old and had holes, which also didn’t warm you up. But most of all the room has no sound insulation, and you’re woken up promptly every morning when the dumbwaiter starts going that runs in a shaft in the middle of the building. In terms of what we liked, the bed was very comfortable and the room was incredibly spacious and easy to store our things. The room also had windows that opened onto a beautiful scene of neighboring buildings. I am new to luxury hotels and can’t say with confidence how well the price of this hotel compares to others in the neighborhood, but we certainly paid more money for a hotel than we ever have before on a not so restful experience. It felt like we were mostly paying for the privilege of being in that neighborhood.

Quiet yet plenty of parks and restaurants just out the door Glass doors to rooms allow light and sound into the room. Would prefer an electric coffeemaker rather than a French press. No elevator so waking up to the fifth floor is a chore.

Mexico City is so very large, but this location was within walking distance of all that I wanted to see. The room was great, the shower was amazing, and the breakfast was just enought to get me started for the day.

• Annika (7/5): Lovely building & design, some organizational issues - The location and the interior of the hotel was absolutely wonderful. I loved the design, the old building and the very green neighborhood. While no aircon might be a problem in summer especially with noise from outside, it wasn't that much of an issue in December. The location right by the park was wonderful and the staff was overall very kind, trying to be helpful. I also loved the idea of a welcome cocktail though I cannot comment on the breakfast as I had to leave early. While the hotel probably isn't categorized as luxury it was a splurge for me. So I was very disappointment when I was told at check-in time that my room wasn't ready (and it became obvious that it would be a while). I saw this as a complaint from another reviewer around the same dates so it is obviously a management issue. I was finally offered the option to take another room and given an upgrade free of charge. That was appreciated but again - rooms were available so the hotel wasn't fully book so the issue was somewhere with the organization of cleaning staff, not the hotel being too full. The new room was lovely but towels had literally big holes in them and were threadbare. My luggage was brought up with the service elevator and I was told to WhatsApp the next morning to get it down. I was not told that there is a shift change between 6 and 7am and nobody was there to unlock the lift. The nice kitchen staff got my luggage down (not their job but so appreciated) and allegedly someone from the front desk arrived minutes later. But all in all, check out needs to be better organized as well.

• gary (2/5): Aweful - Location Waiting for 1 hr and 45 mins to have access to the room Was told at 3pm that room wasn’t ready because previous guest checked out late. Other room that we were told was ready was still being cleaned my partner entered …. I requested another room and was told that they could not change rooms even they they had Other rooms unoccupied. I only had a short amount of time before a very important business meeting. This left me no time To unpack and cleanup before the meeting Front desk said they were sorry nothing else offered I’m a huge fan of the bunkhouse group hotels . I’ve stayed at many of them many times. It seems to me after selling to Marriott group that the charm and caring staff has left the room at this location I was embarrassed that I recommended this hotel to my partner Never again hotel San Fernando
• Jacob (1/5): Whoever gave this place a Michelin key probably got a lobotomy shortly prior. - Nothing. Holes in all of the towels and linens, uncomfortable bed, smelly bathroom from drainage issues, noisy, extremely low-quality breakfast.
• mollycrehan1 (10/5): Wonderful Stay despite a small setback - Our stay at this hotel was wonderful. We were scheduled to stay there two nights but there was a blip with our Booking.com reservation. The staff helped us to get another accommodation nearby, free of charge, then received us the next day for our final night stay. Honestly what could have been a nightmare was actually fun! We loved staying at the other property but then loved finishing our trip here. Beautiful hotel, lovingly appointed, wonderful staff, delicious food and really great location. I will be recommending it to others.

Personeel was uiterst vriendelijk . Ontbijt was beperkt maar lekker. Geen lift . Ontzettend lawaaiig. Bedlinnen en badkamer linnen had duidelijk zijn beste tijd gehad. 2 dagen na ons vertrek werden mijn kredietkaart gegevens opnieuw gebruikt om de rekening van een andere klant te betalen. Ging per abuis maar niet fijn. Prijs kwaliteit verhouding niet ok

Nos tocó piso 4 y no hay ascensor, y si lo comentaba en la reserva no lo hacía muy claramente. El desayuno incluido es un poco limitado pero está bien. Estos días que estuvimos nosotras eran frescos por la mañana y hacía frío en la cafetería donde servían el desayuno. Y la música estaba, a nuestro gusto, demasiado alta.

• Ruth (4/5): - This hotel is very charming and is in a great location. However it was not very accomodating. We were give a room on the 5th floor . There was no elevator ,so we would have to climb 5 flights of stairs with about 24 steps to each floor. The rooms had tall ceilings so the that made each flight steep. We asked for a closer room since I am an older woman with bad knees. I appreciated that they were able to find a second floor room. However, they wanted me to contact Expedia for permission to change my room with a refund. I asked about the difference in price and they said they couldn't give that information . Then they informed me that the room was more expensive and I would have to pay the difference. I argued with them about accommodations and they agreed to call it even. They ended up charging me $16. The room had a stained glass window that allowed the hallway light to shine in at night. That with an uncomfortable bed made sleeping at night almost impossible. The free breakfast wasn't worth it.I didn't eat my old donut or drink my watered down coffee. My son ended up booking another hotel to get rested up before his international flight. Very dissapointing!

• laurenz757 (2/5): Nightmare experience - Double charged my stay upon arrival on 5/23/25, have gone through hoops with the front desk staff and supervisor to get this refunded. They claimed to have refunded me on 6/19/25, however I have I have still not received these funds through my bank. I have attempted to resolve this via the hotel directly (Eduardo and Anishai) with no help as well as HotelTonight (through which I booked). This has been an absolute nightmare with no end in sight.

• Rachel (7/5): Great location but wouldn't stay again - The location was great, the style was nice, and the room was large. While the individual staff were very nice and patient with our poor Spanish, the lounge was often empty with no staff when it was supposed to be open. One day at 9:30 we came to sit in the lounge for breakfast but no one showed up so we left and went somewhere else. We also felt nickeled and dimed. For example, coffee is included in the breakfast, but if you want milk in your coffee, they charge you for the milk.

• I1748SUstaceyc (8/5): Great little boutique hotel in Condesa - Adorable little boutique hotel in the BEST area Condesa, close to great restaurants and Roma Norte. The staff is very young and so lovely. Eduardo, Andy and Anna, so kind. Bonus: our rooms were ready at 12:30 when we arrived! A rarity in most hotels. We were on the 5th floor (no elevator), so enjoyed the daily workout up those stairs! Do remember, no elevator, but the staff will get your luggage up in a dumb waiter lift. Rate comes with breakfast, fruit and some breads.....but on Sunday at 8 am, there was nothing delivered, however, if you order breakfast from the kitchen, it was very decent. Cocktails and bartenders were the loveliest guys and our rooms were very clean. It's an old building with lovely art deco details........and a bit quirky, hence a boutique hotel. The only negatives, it was very noisy at night from the street below on 2 nights, and an apartment building had a LOUD party until 4:30 am one night, waking us all up (not the fault of the hotel). And the music is way too loud for us in the lobby bar at breakfast (you can't have a conversation)......but I guess that just means we are old! ;) I loved the location of this hotel, next to the park, and the kindness of the staff, and for the price point it was a lovely stay in such a fabulous city! • brendabmaldonado (10/5): Must stay in Condesa - I absolutely love Hotel San Fernando! Very cool aesthetics. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. I love their cool little lounge and bar. Drinks are fantastic and food is great! Our room was spacious and clean. I speak spanish but staff (front desk, bartenders) all spoke english as well. It is located in Condesa, in a very walkable area. Found some cool bars and restaurants close by. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

• Verified traveler (8/5): Great Location and Quaint Accomodations - This adorable hotel was really perfect in so many ways. It is small which lends to its quaintness. The staff are helpful and friendly. Very simple but cute and clean and the location could not be beat! It is somewhat loud at night so if you are a light sleeper may need to know this. There isn't any air conditioning or elevators- neither of which mattered too too much to us either - but important to note for sure.

Café americain, quelques fruits et une patisserie peu appetissante. Un des lits de notre chambre n'était pas fait a notre arrivée et ils ont oublié de faire notre chambre le lendemain. Chambres mal insonorisées.

• Alexandra (7/5): Just fine. - Great location After almost 20 hours of traveling we had to lug two big suitcases up four flights of stairs as there was no lift or offer of help from the staff. Later we found out there is a luggage elevator however we were not offered this service. It was also extremely loud, every hour of the day there was noise or banging of some sort.
• helenmI4114AV (10/5): Charming small hotel in Mexico City - This is a lovely small hotel in a great neighborhood. Our room was a suite with a kitchenette and a bedroom. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with coffee beans, a grinder, an electric tea kettle and a French press. Our room was at the back of the hotel, looking out on a small courtyard between buildings. The hotel supplies unlimited amounts of purified water for guests. We heard some noise at night coming up the air shaft from the cafe below, but it stopped by midnight. The staff were wonderful. Aileen helped us get taxis and offered a restaurant recommendation our first night. Bruno arranged our bus travel to San Miguel de Allende and booked our dinner reservation for the first night in San Miguel at a lovely rooftop setting.
• Bedient (10/5): Wonderful stay in La Condessa neighborhood! - The staff was so welcoming and friendly. They were very helpful with anything we needed and booked taxis for us to and from the airport. For someone who has physical ailments, there is no elevator and many stairs. We did not mind. They do have a special elevator for bags, but you need to walk all the stairs if you are staying on the 5th floor. We loved how quaint and cute the hotel was and the neighborhood is one of the best with all the trees and plants.

The property was very comfortable and clean and decorated so well. It also smells amazing ! The candles they burn fill the place with a calming and appealing scent.

The history of the building and character is such a vibe. We were so grateful for this stay and will definitely return! The rooftop is gorgeous and I thought breakfast was served up here, but that wasn't the case. It wasn't used during our stay which was unfortunate since it's such a gorgeous space. While breakfast is included, it left a lot to be desired.

• Jason (4/5): - Stay was not great overall. A lot of issues with getting our room cleaned daily which was very frustrating. Contacted the hotel straight after the stay and they never came to any conclusion/replied. Really disappointing customer service and would not stay again as a consequence.
• Scenic18981010225 (4/5): Warning: Hostelry service and standards - The location of this hotel is excellent, and the ground floor bar (with tables on the street) and bar staff great. The hotel itself, however, left a lot of room for improvement. Our room on the fifth floor was extremely dusty, and the terrace had a pile of very unpleasant detritus. Patchy WiFi at best in the room. No soap or handwash available even when requested (but a soap dish?) . The goods lift gets used by staff from 6am - no problem if it wasn’t so noisy it woke us early every day and kept us awake. Hotel room doors on this floor on this floor are glass, so lights fill the room overnight, sub-optimal for light sleepers. Our room was not cleaned one day when we returned from a day of exploring, we’re told nothing could be done as cleaners were gone and other team members aren’t allowed to clean. We at least eventually negotiated a refill of safe drinking water and clean towels. We also had cockroaches coming into the room via the shower drain. Only small ones - 2-3cm - but not ideal. When all was reported to duty staff we were assured of a discount at check-out. At check-out we had to explain everything again, we’re asked if we’d taken a photo of the cockroaches (which we’d crushed and flushed) and told they could not do anything about a discount but would a) email the bill with breakdown of charges and b) get the manager to contact us to discuss compensation. Neither happened, but suspecting that would be the case I had asked the team for the manager’s email address. Having contacted the manager be email, two very odd email conversations followed. Why hadn’t we let the cleaner in when she’d knocked? I have never before been expected to remain in my room on holiday to let the hotel cleaning staff into a room to do their job, and on two previous days they had gained access and cleaned without us having to let them in. I was told that they’d looked in the bin (at this point 3 days after checkout) for cockroaches but hadn’t found any; odd given the cockroaches were coming up a drain, not nesting in the bin to my knowledge. The fact the property is a small hotel with a small team was the explanation for not being able to clean the room when it hadn’t been cleaned and for the general lack or cleanliness of the room and terrace. I have stayed in many small hotels, several smaller than this, that were extremely clean and provided a very high level of service in line with the prices charged. I was thanked for my feedback, but nothing was done to compensate us for a poor experience and the poor hygiene. A real shame - all the other properties (all with fewer rooms than this) we stayed at on this trip to Mexico were truly excellent, But this was accessible luxury hotel pricing, with hostelry standards. The lack of accountability the GM demonstrated was unacceptable (but predictable given he knew we were in London and aren’t in CDMX frequently), and we finished an otherwise great two-week holiday on a real low. I would not take the risk of staying at this hotel and having a similar experience to ours. The parent company Bunkhouse should take action to protect their brand. I will not now stay at any of their other properties, as I had frequently done in the past on US business travel.

My one complaint would be that there is not AC and I could see it getting hot especially over the summer. I would definitely return.
