We tried contacting the staff, but they said the issue is with the internet provider. After that, we received no more replies, even when we explained that it was the modem's position.

Cozy Cove Room: Bed springs shot, expected room to be more up to date, grounds unkept, screen door extremely difficult to open with duck tape around handle?, skirt of bed very dirty with splatters, shower very small, no trash can to throw away dog waste, Last day landscapers there all day cleaning grounds. Not worth the cost.

• Cindy (10/5): Wonderful inn close to Mendocino - We enjoyed a lovely stay over the July 4th holiday weekend. Booked 2 rooms, one for me and my husband and the other for my mom. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. The bed was SO comfortable - I slept very well every night. We've been to this area several times and even stayed at Sea Foam located right behind this property. Prefer this inn for the value and ease of self-checkin. Short drive to Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Highly recommended! It was perfect.

• Steven (10/5): - Our stay at this boutique hotel was exactly what we needed — quiet, relaxing, and full of small coastal charms. The property offers lovely sprinkled ocean views throughout, giving us just the right touch of seaside atmosphere without being right on the beach. Self check-in was incredibly easy and made arrival stress-free. Everything was clear, and we felt welcomed even without onsite staff. One of the biggest highlights for us was how dog-friendly the property is — our pup felt just as at home as we did! There was plenty of space to walk around and enjoy the fresh air. The only part that was a miss was the fire pit — unfortunately, it wouldn’t light during our stay. It would have been a wonderful feature to enjoy in the evenings, but it didn’t take away from the overall peaceful experience. If you’re looking for a peaceful, low-key stay with beautiful surroundings and a laid-back vibe, this is a wonderful choice. We’re already looking forward to coming back!
• Mariana (10/5): Beds are HEAVENLY - very comfortable room and QUIET property, which I loved. Beds were incredibly comfortable and I slept so good! My ONLY complaint, is that the fireplace cant be on for long before making the room feel like a sauna, and there is no way to turn town the flames. And the thermostat was a little hard to figure out how to manage the room temperature, even WITH the instructions provided. But not a huge deal. Other than that, I had a very comfortable stay. Will definitely come back.

• Maggie (3/5): Disappointing compared with other places we've stayed in the area in the same price range - Dog-friendly. The room looked nice and seemed cozy. Great location, right off the freeway, close to town and other spots. Lots of potential, but unfortunately there were too many issues that took away from it. I'd be reluctant to stay again or recommend. We requested early check-in via Booking.com, which forwarded our message to the property manager. We never heard back. When we checked in (at the original/later time), there was a strong stuffy/musty smell throughout. This dissipated by the evening with some airing out, but we later learned from the property manager (when we reported a different issue; see below) that the room hadn't been occupied for two weeks. This explained the smell, but didn't explain why we couldn't have checked in earlier (nor why no one responded). Although the room looked nice, it was a bit small/cramped for the price. We found dead/dying ants all over the shower floor. We reported this to the property manager, who responded promptly with an apology, but didn't offer / send over housekeeping (which, according to the message sent to us before our stay, was available for extra towels or other needs), so we were left to clean this up ourselves. The smoke detector in the room was missing. We reported this to the property manager as well. Again, an apology, but nothing done to fix it. This didn't leave us feeling very safe, and didn't seem up to code. In the bathroom there was a dark wash cloth with the word "makeup" on it. Also on it was caked-on makeup that hadn't come out in the wash. I certainly wasn't going to touch that to my face. (Also reported this to the property manager, and again -- nothing was done about it.) The coffee & creamer in the room were pretty terrible. Hotel room coffee is rarely great, but this was a new low. There were also no utensils to prep coffee with. Though doggie bags were provided outside, the disposal bin was overflowing. A week after our stay, I found the property had charged my credit card a second time for the full rental amount. They did refund this once I reported it to them, but still unnerving.

• W (9/5): Lovely spot for a quiet winter stay. - Wonderful location just south of Mendocino. Beautiful view, with a dramatic secluded cove across the street. Very comfortable beds, perfect kitchenette, spacious bath and tub. Comfortable club chairs would have added a lot to our enjoyment of the fireplace, though the couch was adequate.

The only reason I’m not giving it an overall 5 stars is because instead of being charged half of the fee upon booking (like it stated we would be), we were charged the entire fee when we got there. That might not be a big deal for some, but for our young family it did complicate things a bit.

Super quiet at this time of year. - We loved the whole setup and environment, i.e. small number of units, exceedingly quiet (we were lucky that no one was on either side), nice wood patio overlooking a green lawn and view of trees with the ocean peeking through them. Nice seating and fire pit in the garden. Exceedingly hot when we arrived, the sun drives straight into the sliding glass door however it cooled quickly with the evening air. Coffee in jar was old, suggest vacuum sealed coffee pouches. The room was a bit cramped, the bathroom sink counter space was very small, barely space to put things. Overall these things dimmed in view of the privacy and quiet setting.

One of our rooms (we had two, daughter travelled with us) was better than the other: it had a nice porch for watching the sunset. Nice that poop bags and outside bins were provided for dogs! Rooms had good coffee and tea options, fridge, micro. Nice outdoor seating. There is no office or front desk. Everything is done remotely, like an Air BnB. So if you prefer a staffed reception in your hotel, try somewhere else. Extra supplies (towels, etc.) were available onsite. Electronic door lock gave an error message but hotel was able to confirm all was OK remotely.

• David (10/5): We can’t wait to come back! - Great location, gigantic window with partial ocean view, fireplace and large bathtub were great!! The ocean view is very obstructed by dead trees across the street, dead as in they have no leaves there’s just sea moss hanging on them. Our only issue was having other guests walk in front of the large window in the Zen suite looking for a receptionist and then coming up to the window to ask where they were. Extremely awkward. I wish it was fenced off, the window is huge.

• Lauren (8/5): Easy, clean, comfortable, nice views and good value. - Very relaxing. We stayed in the Bayview Suite and the big window was nice. It was overall very comfortable and quiet. A neighbor was definitely playing instrumental metal music for about 12 hours one day, so the sound of the ocean was drowned out but it wasn’t that bad and we were out enjoying the beaches and Fort Bragg most of the day, anyway. And that is just the way it goes with neighbors sometimes. The room description mentions two beds, which it had, but one was a very small pull out bed with no sheets. Just take along an extra top sheet if you plan on using that bed. The fact that it was dog friendly was a huge bonus. Oftentimes you’re not allowed to leave pets there when you leave, which is annoying, so it was a big relief to be able to leave our big dog there to sleep while we explored. Staff was quick to respond to email inquiries, too.

Beautiful grounds, close to Mendocino and Fort Bragg. I don’t like properties with remote management. Who do you call at 3 in the morning when a prompt response is requires. There was a problem with the door lock. A newer electronic one with a code programmed into it; it kept saying the battery was low. What the heck does that mean? Does it mean days of life or immediately failure. We just didn’t lock the door; wasn’t comfortable, but the manger was out of town.

Lots of laminated instruction sheets to help figure out phones, tv, fireplace, etc. Very quiet. There is no innkeeper on site. When we arrived, we had to track down other lodgers to find out how to get into our room. The innkeepers had forgotten to send us an email with all the relevant information, like which room, key code for entry, and how to set up wi-fi for phone calls. We got pretty stressed out after such a long trip. There is no cell service in the area. Fortunately, we were able to use a landline to call, and we finally got into the room named "Forest Den," which had a view of a rather large propane tank, only partially hidden by a wall. They sent the crucial email AFTER we had already arrived. Also, there was no maid service, but they did leave an envelope for the maid's tip.

Cons: No front desk, check in is a at a location off the property, noise from freeway drowns out the sound of the ocean waves.
• Margaret (8/5): - Traveling to Mendocino is always a treat for us, so when our options were limited due to the popularity of the fall season, we were a bit skeptical of the Inn at Buckhorn Cove. What we found instead was a delightful and intimate inn with everything we needed to celebrate our first wedding anniversary! Their pet-friendly accommodations and easy outdoor access for pet potty breaks made staying with a dog a breeze. The best part of our stay was the bed! Very comfortable mattress, pillows, and bedding–better than some 4 and 5 star accommodations I've stayed at. We were missing a view, but made due with our outside chairs that faced some greenery where we spent a lot of time listening to music and drinking champagne. For those looking for an affordable, close to town option, and a fantastic night's sleep, the Inn at Buckhorn Cove is not to be missed!
• Kimberly (10/5): had a lovely time rooms were well laid out to accommodate our family and fur babies - clean, location, and yard for pets we rented two rooms the Zen room was perfect, however, the other suite I believe it ways called the bay room , while very nice and clean, it had a sewer odor like a pipe was leaking. other then that our stay was wonderful. we will be back 7/2023
• Karen (8/5): Very good - Staff was very helpful and courteous. They helped to make our stay comfortable. The rooms were decorated with a cute theme. Loved the ocean view and the comfort of the king size bed. When we moved onto the Cozy Corner on Tuesday, the linens were a bit damp but was able to dry things out. Also, we were never able to get the fireplace lit nor get the furnace to come on. The coffee pot should have some instructions as I couldn't figure it out. Also, the screen door needs to be replaced.
• Teresa (1/5): Figure out how to get keys without going to office. Then getting the wrong key. - Coffee available and Anne was an angel in contacting office people, when we had the wrong key to room. No coffee stirrers. When I checked in no one was there at 4:10pm. Drove to room & key didn’t work. Called Hank at 6:15pm and he said go back to office & hung up. The office closes at 6pm.
• maryjoh477 (4/5): Not Recommended - We stayed in the Bayview Suite. It is spacious. A bouquet of fresh flowers on the table was nice. I requested towels the second day and they were delivered. The photos online make it look nicer than it is. Our room smelled musty. The view of the ocean is questionable- trees and utility wires actually. The “kitchen area” needs a sink. The woman who checked us in allowed us to check in 20 minutes early but was not friendly. A warm greeting after a long day of travel goes a long way.

• Pavel (8/5): Very good - Our room was lovely, inviting, and very cozy. We very much enjoyed the vibe of the place and the proximity to the ocean as well as the nearby towns we came to explore. I have no reservations about the choice we made in coming to the Inn at Buckhorn Cove.
• Cora (10/5): would definitely stay there again - great location, beautiful setting kitchen needs to move microwave above sink so there’s counter space
• Zohreh (8/5): - Friendly desk person. Room was okay, not very clean . There was spider web on the side of bed. It was very quite and we enjoyed our stay.
• Michael (6/5): - The first night was good. The second the people in the adjoining room were very loud up until 3:00 am. As I had no one to contact at that time, I left a message at the office at 2:00 am speaking of the issue and not being happy. It has been 6 days since leaving and have never heard back from anyone to at least check in with me.
• Aliona (10/5): Exceptional - The room was very clean and cozy, with a beautiful ocean view! Pleasant and relaxing environment, the entire ambiance felt very homey! We’ll definitely go back…

• Jennifer (8/5): - Nice cottage style property. Good parking and clean and recently remodeled rooms. Very cute place about 5 miles for Mendocino. We had a bit of an issue with the gas smell from the fireplace in our room when we arrived. We had to open up all the doors to dissipate the smell from the pilot light in the gas fireplace. We called and the owner responded within 30 minutes.
