• Gabriela (10/5): Vacaciones en Jan Thiel. Curazao - La ubicación del departamento 34 es excelente. Excelente vista al mar y al jardín. El complejo es sumamente tranquilo, sólo se escucha el mar. Ideal para desconectar y descansar. La ubicación Jan Thiel es perfecta en la isla. Nuestra anfitriona Raquel siempre dispuesta a resolver nuestras inquietudes y super amable... sus recomendaciones en cuanto a lugares para visitar, sitios para almorzar o cenar y supermercados siempre acertados. El lugar para mi familia y para mí en particular fue un 10/10

• Nienke (8/5): Toplocatie - Prima locatie! Prachtig ruim appartement met mooi uitzicht op zee tussen 2 appartementencomplexen door 😉 Superaardige host Raquel! Je kon moeilijk in zee komen, er liggen veel grote stenen. Héérlijk zwemmen hoor, maar het strand bij het complex verdient wel wat aandacht. Wij lagen liever bij het zwembad.

• Stefan (9/5): This is a nice, clean and comfortable place, with easy access to the beach for swimming and snorkeling. - Nice place, well designed and clean. Excellent administration and staff. A week before a after the New Year Day, a lot of pyrotechnic explosions, sometimes till 2-3 am. I do not think that placing an oil rig so close to the beaches was a clever decision. It affected mostly the Tugboat beach, which was a prime snorkeling location.

• Richard (8/5): Love the facilities despite the minor inconveniences. - Great location, villas and views. Love the three bedrooms all with private bathrooms. Also, we appreciate the guard keeping us secure. Our family of 13 enjoyed the facility and our 4 villas. Many areas show their age and need work. The air conditioning on the top floor was struggling to keep the rooms cool. The top floor ceilings do not have any insulation and will never have efficient air conditioning unless insulation is installed. The AC units ran continuously even when set at 24C (75F). Communication with the facility was also spotty and needs to be improved. There is no main desk or anybody to call on a weekend.

• Chris (8/5): Very good - It is close to some of the best snorkel and dive spots on this side of the island. The units are very spacious and have a good layout. The facility felt safe with 24/7 guard. The surrounding and entrance are in bad shape. I understand the government will be improving the area in the next year. Make sure you understand costs so there are no surprises.
• Kathy (7/5): Good - It was spacious and quiet. The patio doors do not lock properly and even though it was a gated community it would of been better with securely locked patio doors. Maintenance did attempt to correct but were unsuccessful.

• Mr. (7/5): Overall a good location to stay and pleasant and helpful staff both at the office and security. - The room was really big and equipped at a high standard with dishwasher, washing machine, oven etc. All equipment was working well and also it had air-conditioning in all bedrooms. The staff, both in the office and security, were really helpful and accommodating. The location of the property is a little remote from some of the main attractions in the Jan Thiel area. Without a car it is difficult to do the shopping, because the nearest supermarket is 20 minutes walking away. Beach area was easily and freely accessible, but since it was quit rocky for the children they did not find it ideal. The fact that there is not a small shop or breakfast possible on-site and the fact that the local activities are not really linked to the resort offer room for improvement.
• Yulia (6/5): - Pros: the room was spacious, the pool was nice with a great view. Cons: got charged for overuse of utilities even though we only used AC in one room and only at night; pillowcases were dirty and one of the towels was stained with what looked like blood. We arrived on Saturday and the office is closed on weekends so I took care of the dirty pillowcases myself (there's a washer). This is one is partly my fault but I completely forgot to visit the office once it opened on Monday. Instead of messaging me, leaving a note or politely knocking on the door, the manager banged on the door in the morning for a few minutes (we were sleeping) until i woke up and opened it. Overall, we had an "okay" stay at this hotel but will not be returning. One other thing for those counting on going to the beach by the hotel, it's very rocky and we didn't see anyone swimming there.
• Valerio (10/5): Viviendo Una Excelente Experiencia en Palapa Beach - El lugar esta muy bien ubicado con una playa muy agradable, y adicionalmente cerca hay una zona forestal en la cual puedes caminar o correr. Los espacios dentro del apartamento son amplios y muy limpios y organizados. La atención del personal a cargo del Resort es con alta vocación de servicio y super amigable. Espero volver pronto.

The staff was great from day one, making sure you were well informed on everything that you needed to know to help make your stay more enjoyable! The size and space of the unit was amazing! You get a HUGE bang for your buck! It was awesome to be able to just walk next door, rent a jet ski and take to the waves too! :)
• Bartosz/Steffi (8/5): Schöner Aufenthalt im Palapa Beach Resort - Das Palapa Beach Resort ist sehr schön auf einer kleinen Landzunge in der Caracasbay gelegen und bietet einen tollen Ausblick auf das Meer und den Jachthafen. Der kleine private Strandabschnitt ist leider steinig und eher spartanisch ausgestattet. Hier bietet die gepflegte Poolanlage jedoch eine gute Alternative. Die Appartements sind großzügig, hell und modern gestaltet. Jedes Schlafzimmer hat ein eigenes angrenzendes Badezimmer. Ein besonderes Highlight hier, ist der eingebaute Jacuzzi. Die Küche verfügt leider über wenig Utensilien, so dass man beim Kochen improvisieren muss. Das Personal des Palapa Beach Resort ist freundlich und hilfsbereit, wir hätten uns jedoch etwas mehr Informationen bezüglich der organisatorischen Dinge gewünscht. Alles in allem können wir diese Unterkunft für einen Aufenthalt in Curacao empfehlen und haben unseren Urlaub sehr genossen!

• Dyana (8/5): Nice place,excellent location - Palapa is a really nice place, beautiful view from the property,well maintenance overall. Quite, safe. The neighborhood nearby is really nice, great houses and bars. But you need to have a car in this area. The apartment/unit we had was really comfortable for us family of 4. With 2 children ( 9 yrs and 3 yrs). They gave us (an upgrade) room in from of the pool so that was fantastic for the girls. 2 bed/3bath, with jacuzzy, big kitchenette, spacious living room. There are units/condoms at palapa rented for long period, also people who are owners of units so the atmosphere when we stayed there weren't the same as the hotel/resort. Joost is the person who is in charge to attend every need the guests could have. He is a nice person, always ready to help us. He only stay at Palapa from 9am to 5pm. But he gave us his phone to call him in case we needed something. You can't not swin in the beach that lapala has. it has a lot of big stone but the view is nice. We went always or most of the time to the papagayo beach area. It is really nice place with a supermarket, good restaurants and bars. Cuaracao is really beautifull now days. Near you can rent a boat, kayak, etc. Our youngest daughter became ill and gave her fever for 2 days. Near Lapala there is a pharmacy that has medical service. The doctor was Dutch and the nurse spoke Spanish.
• Verified traveler (8/5): would be perfect if not for the manager's attitude - The apartment has perfect layout if you need to have separate quarters or big family. There were some issues at arrival (no soap or shampoo, although promised), no washer machine (while stated in description), very weak water pressure in the shower. Luckily, these issues were addressed promptly. Most important, however, our room was not what we booked - we were upgraded by hotels.com to "oceanview, oceanfront", but instead were placed in the "partial beachfront" view. The view was not too bad from the balcony or one of the bedrooms, but still lacked the privacy we were seeking. Using shower in Jaccuzi was a challenge, as there was no drapes to cover the windows that were facing another building. Most unpleasant was that the hotel manager insisted that this was a correct room, although the reservation said otherwise. It is strange that he thought that people are so stupid or ignorant that they do not know the difference. He also complained on couple of occasions that we did not pay too much to have the better room. He refused to give us the room we reserved for different reasons (no boss available on the weekend (later he said that he IS the boss), no room available, or "other people paid more")... We paid the "secret" hotels.com member price + had an extra coupon.... Why should it be the manager's business if this is the rate they negotiated with hotels.com? That really was disturbing to me, otherwise I would give it a 5* review. Advice: check reservation with hotel!
