Erin (4/5): Disappointing - Only good thing about property is location First - way over priced but I get it’s the location . we stayed in a kind suite where there was a pullout couch on a second floor like a loft . There was a giant pole in the room with a table and chair so we couldn’t get the couch out . My mom had to sleep on the couch without the bed part . Horrible ! Also the tv was up there so no one could watch anything at night in bed down stairs! The floors were all uneven and the toilet bathroom was separate across the hall from shower. The whole layout was terrible ! We also had been out and did not want the cleaning people to touch our room as we were only there for two nights - well they did and we had purchased items from goodnight fatty (a cookie place in town ) and the cleaning lady took them and threw them out when they were know where near the garbage ! They were sitting on top tour fridge ! The hotel offered to give us pastries or $20 refunded . We did appreciate that . But no one should’ve been in our room or touched any of our things ! So disappointing! I def won’t be staying there again! I’ll find a nicer place in Salem . While it’s conveniently located across from most of the shops it’s def not worth the price ! You walk everywhere anyways .

Melissa (9/5): Great location for historic Salem - This hotel is centrally located to all of Salem’s tourist destinations and not too far from the beach (if you don’t mind a good walk). Lots of great food options nearby as well. The room had three outlets, only one of which worked so with two people trying to charge three devices, we had to get creative. But otherwise no complaints or issues whatsoever
Mason Bradley (10/5): We will be staying there again. - I have been in the group travel business for 40 years. Never have I left a hotel property knowing the names of staff members like I do here... Ashley, Julie, Tim, Billy, Brian, Cody. Whatever it is that Lark does to create an atmosphere where guests learn and remember the staff like that is doing it right. Room appointments and amenities are great, this location is great, the food and cocktails also great. But, what makes The Hotel Salem REALLY GREAT are the people there. They are providing genuine hospitality. This was our second stay, two rooms this time and a five star experience once again! It rained on Sunday. We do not blame the Hotel Salem for that.

Wir kamen am Abend des Blizzards an.. viele Mitarbeiter konnten gar nicht zur Arbeit kommen. Die, welche es trotzdem geschafft hatten, gaben ihr Bestes für uns Hotelgäste! John (10/5): The microking has just the right amount of space and everything you need for a centrally located, walkable stay in Salem - Excellent location! Room had everything you would need! The toilet leaves a little to be desired in terms of privacy in the micro-king room, but you can work around that easy enough. The room is concise and thorough. There’s even a mini fridge and an iron and ironing table. Would recommend highly for couples! We didn’t have a car when we stayed, but if you did have one you would need to navigate that - front desk did have plenty of suggestions though!

James (8/5): Great stay in Salem, always wanted a room in this iconic hotel. - Great location, friendly and helpful staff, great looking interiors. Through “Bookings.com” I was told I’d have a city view, which I was looking forward to. I reminded the person checking us in and he didn’t know what I was talking about. When I got to the room I saw a brick wall with hvac units on top.
Kathy (7/5): Okay - Ashley at the bar is amazing! Friendly, helpful and fun. She made our stay. Arriving early and still not able to check in until 3:45. Room 101, heat malfunctioned. Our teenager not able to sleep it was so hot in the mezzanine and cold downstairs. We were able to switch rooms the next night. TV in the new room wouldn't go on and one outlet didn't work.
John (8/5): - The location was central to shops and activities. The staff was pleasant. The room was beautiful. The outside noise, including interior due to noisy guests walking and talking loudly, was disturbing.

Francine (7/5): I stood from December 21 till now and it is the 26th and I am still having a pleasant day. I’ve made it to a couple room - I actually stood from December 21 to December 26 and it was a great experience I like the property because there was different set ups in different rooms and I love that they had the lounge room and a coffee place in the morning before work Only thing I didn’t like about the property is that some of the rooms were really cold, but they were very accommodating to move you and they don’t have room service 24 hours

Adrienne (8/5): - The hotel was quiet for being in such a busy location. The staff was helpful and the lobby is lovely. The room was quite spacious. There was a pipe that leaked in the hallway outside our door and the staff was apologetic and helpful. The rooms are starting to look a little tired and need a refresh. For the price, I'd expect them to really be on top of maintaining the rooms a little bit better.

Carolina (6/5): Pleasant - The staff are lovely and the hotel was on the main strip. The hotel is clean. We got the micro-king which we didn’t realise was a king bed in a micro-room. So the sink is next to the bed. The shower didn’t get hotter than room temperature and the frosted glass bathroom door didn’t close. There was no one around to raise the issue in the evening. But when I raised the issue in the morning as we were checking out, the staff etc knew about the frosted door being broken.
kathyaS9301MZ (4/5): Get back to the basics Hotel Salem - Nope - cannot recommend. Missed the mark on two very impactful aspects - bathroom and bedding. The bathroom set up is strange with the toilet separate on the other side of the hall (with no sink!) and the shower and double sink on the other side of the hallway. Now for the shower... took over 5 minutes to go from icy cold and then watch out - scorching hot and nearly impossible to get it just right, without going back to ice old again. The pressure was kind of lacking as well. Now sleep quality - again - big miss! The bed was comfortable enough however; they seem to use cheapo microfiber sheets. And the most frustrating part was the bottom sheet continued to pull up away from the mattress all night long! Not the restful respite we were looking for while in town for a wedding. We've traveled extensively and this hotel is one of the poorest price/quality ratios we've encountered. The hotel staff were friendly enough however, no one has contacted me regarding my feedback to their survey- other than very rote, AI generated "we're so sorry blah blah blah". Don't ask the question if you don't want to deal with the response... My advice - look elsewhere.

chelseahR6133TP (10/5): Great experience! - We stayed here one night as a leg of our honeymoon. The workers were so nice and offered tips and recommendations of great visiting spots. We booked a micro king and while definitely living up to the size of the name, it was so cute and cozy! The service caught wind of it being the first night of our honeymoon and left us a surprise of champagne, rose pedals and a note! We were totally blew away with this stay and could not recommend it enough!!
298audrag (8/5): Hotel in the middle of the action of Essex - Staff was super! They brought ice and water whenever requested. The hotel itself was a bit disappointing as the rooms were very small and ours had a strong weed smell coming through the hall. The bed was comfortable. We booked well ahead (3 months) and wish I had looked around more for something that was more historical. I left some very valuable earrings in the room and have submitted a lost item on their website. Fingers crossed if they are found.

islandsinthedream (10/5): Abandon hope, all ye who stay ANYWHERE ELSE but The Spooktacular Hotel Salem! - Say it three times and the best hotel spot for your Salem experience will appear: location, location, location! Parked in the Visitor Center garage on Liberty Street and didn't move for the duration of the trip. There's no need! The Witch City Mall has an elevator that takes you from the garage to the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall level (right next to Witch Pix) which is helpful for luggage - and if you can manage to roll your bags the 350 feet from the mall entrance to the hotel entrance, you've unlocked the absolute best location in Salem for all your adventures! You're next to Town Hall, which is where the Witch City tours start (also highly recommend!) plus two blocks from Witch House, the rear stairwell opens to Charter Street, and you are surrounded by ALL. THE. BARS. AND. RESTAURANTS. AND. SHOPS. Don't sleep on Nightmare Gallery next door for horror movie and character fans! Tons of characters/buskers right outside your door since the hotel entrance opens to a street closed to vehicular traffic. A beautiful complimentary coffee and tea setup on the first floor lounge to get your spook on! Bathroom was gorgeous, tons of counter surface and moody tiled shower. Water closet is separate which I actually find convenient! Do not underappreciate having a "base camp" in the heart of Salem for bathroom breaks, disco naps, phone charging, etc. - it made the trip! Got such a good last-minute deal on the room that we extended our trip to Salem by a day to stay here - and only regret is we had a non-refundable room already booked for the second night in Marblehead, otherwise we absolutely would have stayed! Staying four miles away from Salem seems convenient, until you've stayed in the heart of it - now I'm spoiled and there's no going back! Except to go back to The Hotel Salem! I also think there's a cross-promotional opportunity to have costumed characters from Essex Street assist with guest bags from the garage to the hotel :)
Randy1337 (7/5): Location Location Location! - I'll assume you are a guest going to Salem in October - the wildest month of the year. The one perk to rule them all of this hotel is the location. It is a 12/10 location. You are literally in the center of the heart of downtown on the main street where EVERYTHING is happening, with the ability to drop off your stuff/grab a jacket/etc at ANY time to your room without going out of your way. AND! You have access to your own personal private bathroom in a town of 'No Public Restrooms' and port-o-potty's shared by 50,000+ people. That is the selling point. That is the holy grail of Salem in October and why you are going to pay $1000 a night for this hotel. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They were able to hold our bags before checkin and after checkout for the day while we explored the town. Room was quiet even for the location. Thermostat didnt seem to work in our room - or not well. It was very cold in our room the first night, but the temp slowly raised a degree or two a day, so after the first night it wasn't a big deal. Showers take a long time to heat up, but then are fine. Sink didn't seem to heat up at all unless the shower was on. No desk, no coffee maker, not much counter space in the bathroom. Bed was too soft and sagging a bit and not the best. The room was DECENT and for a MUCH lower price (offseason etc) these would be minor issues. For $1000 a night, it definitely stings, but like I said -- with extreme demand and a sea of people youre getting the location and a private bathroom for a very high price. It is what it is.
