Front desk check in was a breeze, the ambassador upgrade was handled perfectly well as we had booked a balcony room on purpose so appreciate them waiting to speak to us before the upgrade. Alex went above and beyond to take care of us and greatly appreciate her! Valet and doormen are friendly, always greeting and saying enjoy/have a nice day. I wish we could clone her and be the only front desk agent at every property!! While packing up, they asked if there was anything else they could help with. Aidan the bellman was super professional and courteous. Check out was a little challenging as they were not able to correctly apply my ambassador free weekend night. Took a few tries and about 10 minutes to get it right. While not concierge's fault directly, I should have asked for the local benefits at the time of check in. I wasn't able to get the ben and jerry's coupons on time to use before we left but Shujaat did make it up to us by providing 2 drink tickets that we were able to use before leaving. Appreciate his ability to ensure we were accommodated.
- 8lynnes (10/5): A great hotel in a beautiful city - We had a wonderful experience at the InterContinental at the Wharf. We had a beautiful room with a view. We had our choice of several breakfast offerings. All were delicious. Service at the restaurant was friendly and efficient. Front desk staff was welcoming. The concierge, Shujatt Khan, was a huge part of making our trip a great one as he arranged for cars and difficult to get reservations at great restaurants. I had the pleasure of working with him before our arrival and during our stay. I would recommend the hotel highly and hope to visit again.

The rooms and bathroom were great with unique views off the enclosed balcony of both the river and the capitol, and the rooftop pool with views of the Potomac was fabulous. Staying on the wharf really makes a trip to DC a nice combination of waterside vacation and historical city vacation. Fantastic hotel manager and concierge staff, too!

- tommyhX9276HS (6/5): Pricey for an average stay - Stayed one night. Great location. Room was nice, especially the bathroom. Beds were comfortable but not luxury level. Hotel was clean and had a nice atmosphere. However, I would likely not stay at this hotel again or any IHG property in the future. This was our first stay with this brand (frequently stay at Marriott and Hilton brands) and this one left me with a negative overall experience. Mostly due to value. For the price of the stay to not have complementary bottled water provided in room was disappointing. We were disturbed by room service at 10am, asking when we were checking out (standard checkout is 11am). Felt rushed to checkout. One of the cabinet doors in our room was broken and fell on my foot. The hotel adds a $35 fee for items that other hotel brands add for free (wifi etc). Overnight parking is $75. Value is very poor. I would place a stay here valued at $250-$350 per night (our rate was $600ish). If you can find a low rate and expectations are modest, maybe the IC would be a solid pick. Otherwise other options in the area would likely be better.

And the amenity fee lets talk about that, what amenities? The spa with no appointments open and no sauna or any spa experience or the spa employees who say, I’m calling my manage but he won’t answer the phone ? Amenity fee is a joke. After being down here and seeing the Pendry I’d choose them it’s much more chic and has real amenities and a full fledged spa with AMENITIES and you can actually get an appointment. There is more to luxury than the price and location. This property needs work.

I was never alone and always had the full team at the hotel at our disposal (banquets, doormen, front desk, chef, A/V, Directors of sales, events & catering, cleaning folks and even the chef and his team at Willowsong Restaurant in the hotel) They always make us feel like family when we host our events at this property and are the reason everyone from our staff to attendees enjoyed themselves. Found out when I looked at my check more closely that there was already an 18% tip on the bill. So I tipped 2 times. They charge an amenity fee. What amenities? Coffee in the room and 2 bottles of water? Just felt super Nickel and dimed. Not cool at all. Very upsetting.

The location is a big plus, right on The Wharf with easy access to restaurants, the waterfront, and attractions. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

- Monique (8/5): Good - Breakfast was delicious! Room service properly cooked 3 out of 4 pieces of chicken— my husband unable to eat the last piece because it was undercooked. Our room was right next to the generator and although the doors were considered soundproof, it was quite loud during the night which made it harder to sleep.

- Amy (10/5): It’s a very nice hotel and the woman who checked me in was professional and the bar tenders were very attentive - Loved the location and it was very nice inside When we pulled up I had to get out and speak to the valet bc he was busy chatting with another worker and ignored us. Then I had to get the trolly myself and unload my car and bring it inside. Once inside a woman asked me if I was checking in and I said yes and she said I’ll be right with you and disappeared.

- Denise (10/5): Beautiful hotel next to the waterfront, plenty of restaurants on the waterto choose from, very accessible to other areas - The property is beautiful from the time you enter the lobby , the room was very nice as well, The room was very clean, modern, functional, loved the vanity & full length mirror in the bathroom. We were on a high floor, view of the water was very nice. The staff at the front desk, check bag dept, doormen were very nice and accommodating There was nothing that I didn’t like about the property.

Status was recognized but no upgrades were given, even though right before checking in I checked what rooms were left and they had much better and nicer rooms than what I was given which they could have been upgraded me. Got a room facing a office building so beware they do have rooms like that. I read most of the reviews and it was always like I got this awesome room upgrade and we were overlooking the wharf. Definitely not my experience. Very disappointed. Also no food or beverages available after 10pm that's when things shutdown and there is no gift/convience shop
- Matthew (4/5): Classist, overrated, overpriced, will not return - Hotel was beautiful, decorated impeccably for Christmas, extremely clean Staff were very rude and unpleasant to interact with, my girlfriend and I were repeatedly stopped by staff while walking through the hotel and treated like we were not supposed to be there, we were not asked if we needed anything or if we were looking for something but were asked “what are you doing” in a very condescending tone by the front desk, the wait staff at WillowSong, and the general staff walking around the hotel, it was almost as if everyone assumed that we weren’t guests, keep in mind that it was very crowded in the time we were there, so we got to see first hand how every other guest was treated, it was honestly embarrassing for us. Not to mention the fact that our hotel room didn’t have a mini fridge, only 1 working outlet, and the climate control didn’t work.

- 421katrinah (10/5): Romantic Staycation - My husband and I stayed at this hotel while celebrating our wedding an anniversary. We stayed in a Premium King High Floor Wharf View. We truly enjoyed our stay. From the timely valet parking with in/out privileges, warm and inviting staff, ease of check-in and our room was ready early (2:30PM), a sweet treat (cheesecake) was present in our room at check-in and then again (macaroons) after our return to our room later that evening. The room was spotless and described. The location is great with easy access to many dining, shopping, and entertainment options. The hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays. We would definitely stay here again.

- MisterGlobal888 (8/5): A fine hotel, but benefits are lacking. - This is a perfect choice if you don’t have a vehicle. Access to DCA Airport is easy, and Uber/Lyfts are plentiful and cheap. The hotel is good, well positioned on the Wharf, and housekeeping in particular was great during our 4-night stay. Don’t expect any special attention though if you are an InterContinental Ambassador member. Wow, what a letdown this “elite” program has become. Add to that the insulting daily $35 amenity fee for nearly worthless benefits and you might be left feeling very un-special. Still recommendable though if you get a decent room rate. DC is a great town and this hotel is a good one.

Rooms are large with great windows and a comfortable beds, bathrooms are beautiful with Byredo products and the service is top notch. Easily the best hotel I’ve experienced in the DC area. The lobby and common areas are elegant and airy and it is convenient to all of the shops, restaurants and activities at the Wharf.

The hotel is self is beautiful, clean and the service is exceptional.

Erin was amazing from check in to checkout. - Our experience was wonderful from arrival to departure. the door men were right there whenever leaving or entering the hotel. Erin, who checked us in was amazing. Always willing to help with questions, always pleasant and cheerful, and never forgot to ask if we would like to have a bottle of water. The concierge was very helpful. he held our bags and always greeted us with a hello and a smile. The rooms were amazing as was the balcony and housekeeping kept everything clean and tidy. I would 100 percent recommend this hotel for your stay.
- BlackGirlTraveling (8/5): Memorable Birthday Stay - I like to stay at high-end properties where the rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows with a view. The Intercontinental at the Wharf fit the bill. Specifically, The Water Suite. Upon arriving to my suite, I was surprised by white flower petals sprinkled about and a bouquet of mylar balloons! In the bedroom, I was again surprised to find a bottle of red wine, a cute little birthday cheesecake, a charcuterie plate, and a bouquet of the prettiest, most gorgeous-est deep pink flowers I’ve ever seen! They were soooo BEAUTIFUL! Apparently, my husband had reached out to Shujaat (the concierge) to set this whole thing up for me! A true and wonderful surprise! And because I did not want to leave the birthday balloons and beautiful bouquet behind when it was time to check out, we rearranged our departure plans. With very short notice, the concierge helped us pack the flowers for transport. They made it to our place safely! The Water Suite is absolutely stunning and highly recommended! The bedroom is nothing but windows and lights up the entire room during the day. The bathroom also features a very large soaking tub and a large shower. The water pressure was fine. Kudos to whoever decided to go with Byredo’s Bal D'Afrique for the bath amenities. It’s such a divine scent! Unfortunately, we had to change rooms after a nice. Same suite, just a floor below. The drapes in our original suite weren't functioning properly and were missing sheer curtains. Thank you to the manager, LaVonne, for getting us right and the complimentary bottle of Prosecco, and the bellhop, Siskret, for transporting our things. All the bellhops are friendly, actually. This was our first real stay in DC, and we loved how walkable everything was down at the Wharf. There’s even a CVS next door for when you have a hankering for specific sweets, as I did. I did a lot of room service-ing, and it was always quicker than the 30-45 minutes they tell you on the phone. Willowsong makes a very delicious veggie lasagna! We also did visit the restaurant, and the service was great. Thanks to the team for making this birthday special, and to Alex at the front desk for the bubble wands. Never too old for a little fun!!

The hotel itself is pricy but a great spurge for us on our 20th wedding anniversary. The dinner recommendation was one of the best meals I've ever had in my like - a close second to The Inn At Little Washington. The hotel itself was comfortable and clean with a beautiful view and lovely amenities. Small fridge and no microwave but a coffee maker. Not a big deal for us. 10/10

- davidtV9587FZ (10/5): Business trip to the DC Interncontinental - Fantastic hotel in the Wharf neighborhood of DC. The neighborhood is walkable with lots of shops, restaurants and activity during the afternoon and evening. I was here for a meeting in the hotel, and was very impressed by the buffet for breakfast and lunch. The hotel room was clean, comfortable and relaxing. The bed was medium firm and comfortable. Only complaint is the TV in the room never went fully dark when I turned it off, so glad I had a sleep mask on hand.
