- Carlin (10/5): Staff were lovely and accomodating - Cosy , comfortable great location
- Benita (6/5): -
- Les (10/5): Quirky, guest-house style hotel - great vibe. Always stay here when we visit Castlemaine. Maggie and Alan are excellent -
- Penny (3/5): - The staff were lovely The place needed cleaning and furniture was everywhere. The bed was uncomfortable especially the old pillows and the mattress was old. Almost felt like it had dust mites. It doesn't look like the picture on the site for the price you are paying. Very run down
- John (9/5): Very enjoyable - Ambience N/A
- Jennifer (9/5): -
- Freedom (4/5): -
- catherine (8/5): NA. Read all of the above. - The eccentricity of the hotel and surroundings. Breakfast was good.. Staff very helpful. Banjo the dog most welcoming. If the bed had been comfortable instead of hard, we would go back again. The bed was hard. Couldn't sleep well
causing a fair amount of discomfort. Otherwise everything else was good..
- Andrew (9/5): - Alternative vibe
- Elida (5/5): The hostess was lovley ,and my bed was warm. - Location was great, walking distants to town .
- Annie (8/5): - Northern Arts is a very comfortable and quirky hotel just outside the centre of Castlemaine. It’s located close to the Mill and the Botanical Gardens, and only a short 15-minute walk into the main part of town.
We had a very pleasant stay and were surprised to discover there had been other guests when we saw people at breakfast, as it was incredibly quiet at night. The bed was comfortable, and the linens were clean and good quality.
They’ve struck a perfect balance between a hotel and staying at a friend or relative’s house. We also appreciated the tea and biscuit stand upstairs, which was a very nice touch. The included breakfast was a much-appreciated bonus. Our only real complaint was being charged $14 each for a gin and tonic with no ice. We appreciate that these things happen (running out of ice), but the price felt slightly steep compared to other establishments around town.
- John (8/5): Northern Arts has a distinctive and atractive character. - Breakfast was a generous selve-serve. Hosts Margie and Allan are always welcoming and engaging. The hotel has an intimate, homely atmosphere, with many interesting curated art/ceramic/travel related items. Its easy walking distance from The Mill complex and the Botanic Gardens.
The option to listen to the jazz band on Friday evening was an enjoyable extra feature. My recent room was ensuite. My previous stay the bathroom room was immediately across the corridor with key acssess only for me and ok, though not as good as ensuite.

- Michael (10/5): - This is a great set up- treading the fine line between feeling like a professional hotel, and feeling like a guest in their home- and doing it so well! I'm so glad I found it, best night of my trip.
- Michael (8/5): Wonderful stay in quirky old style hotel in great location. - Great classic old style hotel with very friendly hosts. Simple continental breakfast is included which was a really great bonus. Rooms are only small, but have everything you need and the bed was very comfortable. Because it is an old style hotel and the rooms are upstairs, there is no lift. Not an issue for me, but may worry others. The rooms don’t have their own fridge, but a communal guest one is provided that allows you to keep your food cool.

- Wakjira (10/5): AMAZING - The environment, space, BADGER, the free breakfast that tasted really good and the lovely owners nothing
- Rebecca (9/5): A fascinating, artistic hotel with live music downstairs on Saturday nights - Lovely light breakfast, talking to the fascinating Maggie Nothing
- Natasha (10/5): -
- Guo (10/5): -
- Keith (7/5): -
- Peter (4/5): Extremely poor internet. - Easy parking Extremely poor internet, often almost not working, despite having a 2GBps NBN connection. Disorganised checking. Recorded piano music playing loudly at breakfast (but one of the staff kindly asked if it was annoying and turned it off one of the mornings we were there).
- Jorg (8/5): -
- Peter (10/5): - The facility is an old hotel that has been revamped into a guest house with an art vibe in keeping with the spirit of the community. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and sat amongst the guests for breakfast.
- Christine (10/5): Helpful and friendly staff. Great atmosphere at breakfast. Fascinating building. -
- Colin (7/5): Pleasant but brief due to our commitments in Castlemaine. - Rooms were clan and comfortable. Lack of individual bathroom facilities
- Julie (10/5): -
- Elisse (9/5): Really enjoyed staying here, would stay again - Great location, walking distance to shops and station
- mookoid (8/5): -
- Helen (10/5): - The atmosphere was very friendly and inviting, I especially liked all the paintings and decor and it was a very relaxing break.

- karen (9/5): -
- Anthony (6/5): Strange in a good way - Quirky, Quite, Quaint Breakfast
- Steve (10/5): Top spot - It’s quirky and wonderful- the sort of place you are pleased you found . Breakfast is simple and done very well. Make yourself tea & coffee anytime. Some excellent ginger biscuits too but we may just have been lucky . Very comfortable bed . Definitely stay again if back in Castlemaine N/A
- Alex B (6/5): -
- Pam (7/5): It was different to our usual accommodation, we were a bit surprised at first, but did enjoy it. - We didn't have the breakfast. I personally didn't like the dog on the premises as I have allergies. The others in my party didn't have an issue
- Helen (8/5): - Our room while a little small was very clean and well presented. We were made to feel very welcome and will certainly stay again when visiting the area
- CML (9/5): A lovely ‘olde fashioned’ motel on the main road. - Continental breakfast served downstairs was very nice. Fresh produce and plenty of choices for your toast. The Coolroom venue in the foyer is an extra bonus at set times of the month. Worth paying extra for a private bathroom across the hallway. The art work throughout the hotel is a very interesting and the owner Maggie is friendly and happy to chat. A block’s walk to The Mill and the Botanical gardens. A fly screen on the bedroom window would have been good. The stairs to bedrooms upstairs would be an issue for those who may not have read the booking profile properly .
- Caitlin (8/5): - Friendly staff, great location and excellent Castlemaine vibe Not a big criticism and more of a suggestion, but it would have been handy to have a small fridge in the room
- Peter (7/5): -
- Aaron (9/5): -
- Penny (9/5): -
- Kosa (9/5): A property with character, a great location near the Mill and still walking distance from town. - Location, quirky decor, charming in a way that the standard hotel experience often lacks. Nothing, really.
- andrew (9/5): we enjoyed the surroundings and the staff were very helpful and friendly - No , the furniture and paintings were amazing The room was a bit chilly , but possibly down to us not operating the air conditioning properly

- Matt (9/5): -

- Garry (3/5): -

- Carol (5/5): -
- michelle (10/5): We were going to stay somewhere else but after the first night decided to stay there the whole time because we felt very - We loved the collection of art works and furniture and old world charm, easy walking distance to local cafes and shops
- michelle (10/5): -
- Charlie (7/5): -
- Thompson (9/5): Very enjoyable - Gorgeous hotel, very cute Bathroom separate to room which was challenging in early am
- withoff (8/5): - staff is very helpful no wheelchair access
- Simon (8/5): - Badger the cute dog that welcomes you . Loved the eclectic nature of the decor . Nothing specific
- Hugh (7/5): Beautiful DIY guest house for a simple stay with clean rooms. - The property is a heritage style guest house with beautiful high ceilings and the bathroom was very well fitted out. I thought it wasn't great value for money. There were no bathroom amenities, the breakfast is very simple and everything is DIY.
- warran (6/5): A pleasant stay in a clean room. - Availability and location It was very dark and a little old.
- Kym (10/5): -
- Robin (9/5): -
- Ruth (10/5): - Really comfortable stay in a personality filled hotel.
- Katrina (8/5): -
- Samuel (10/5): Wonderf stay - Second time staying here after day surgery at Castlemaine hospital, friendly comfortable atmosphere charming property. Old world guesthouse feel and included breakfast in the dining room had the best sourdough for toast. Bajjah greets guests on arrival and was lovely to see her again. Having to go home after.
- Michael (10/5): Great place to stay. Great atmosphere surrounded by good people. - Great atmosphere ... Charming! Rooms were great and the bed was very comfortable. A great environment .... we will certainly be back. Nothing .. I have nothing to complain about. Loved it.

- Patricia (8/5): Always enjoy staying at the hotel in lovely Castlemaine - Great location in a gorgeous town. Staff all lovely & helpful. Very quirky arty hotel. Nice breakfast. Rooms not very sound-proofed, but comfortable & charming with everything you need.
- Barry (8/5): Atmospheric old hotel. - Electric blanket, breakfast, ambience. Not much sitting space for hotel guest when events are happening in front foyer.

- Roger (7/5): -
- Jenny (8/5): - Comfortable beds, friendly and helpful staff, lovely continental breakfast.Loved that each room was themed to an Australian iconic artist. A night time leak in the air conditioner disturbed our sleep,( but next morning the staff quickly acted on the situation. Much appreciated, thankyou!).
- Hamlett (10/5): Awesome! - Awesome. Not much
- Penny (10/5): -
- Anne (3/5): I won’t book there again. - Location Noisy. Poor arrival. Sent to incorrect room. Went to reception and the Man at reception said…” I don’t think there is anyone in the room I sent you to. Then told we were getting a better room which in fact was the actual room we booked.
- Jeff (7/5): It was a nice little old style hotel with old style charm - Ambiance of the old style hotel, obviously it was very quiet for a Mon & Tues stay, bed was large & comfy with an electric blanket for those cold nights. Very basic breakfast with limited choice, on the main road with early road noise, had to shut the bathroom door as the window was old style with just mesh at the top and the glass was cracked.
- Matt (9/5): -
- Nicola (10/5): - Lovely old building, full of character. Lots of thought gone into a really welcoming and comfy stay. We loved it
