- bruno (8/5): -
- Abby (8/5): Nice little cabins with delicious breakfast located close to historical park - Delicious cooked-to-order breakfast, beautiful landscaping, good AC, close walking distance to historical park, friendly owner, free bike rental Located down a lonely street. The adjacent neighbor has several dogs that bark aggressively at you when you come and go

- Christian (10/5): Alles top - Sehr nette Gastgeberin. -
- Rachael (9/5): Very relaxing stay - Quiet leafy enclave outside town.
Charming helpful owner and staff
Free bicycles to get into town.
Great breakfast
- Ashok (10/5): It was a wonderful break. I would stay there again. - We liked the location. It is nice and quiet, a wonderful change from Bangkok. The property is so beautiful. It would be great if they could introduce us to an English-speaking guide.
- Sargylana Iakovleva (10/5): -
- Brian (8/5): Warm and welcoming, off the beaten track - It was quiet, and the staff were so helpful and friendly! They made me feel like family, they were all so sweet. It was a little far from restaurants and amenities, which was my fault for not researching better. A few times I wandered into nearby places where I was chased by aggressive dogs, so be careful.
- FRANCESCA (8/5): - Posizione ottima. Staff gentile e professionale. Stanza molto confortevole e pulita. Struttura silenziosa.
- AE (10/5): - Sauber, nett und freundlich, liegt zentral und super leckeres Frühstück
- Svetla (9/5): Great place to stay during your visit to Ayutthaya - Nice and clean room and bathroom. Good AC. Very close to the Ayutthaya’s Heritage Park.
- Amandine (10/5): -
- Schneider (6/5): -
- poyamona (10/5): Greenery and cozy place 🌿 - A nice and cozy place to stay. The place was covered with many trees. The room was clean and quite big. I brought a cat with me. She likes it so much during the stay. Staffs were nice and friendly.
- Alex (6/5): -
- Davide (8/5): - Ospitalità e accoglienza.
Oltre alla.disponibilità del personale.
Ottima posizione.
- Jareikus (8/5): Comfortable and convenient stop on a road trip. - The area seemed questionable, but the property is great inside it’s gate. Breakfast was included and it was a good location for those traveling with a dog.
- Brian (10/5): Great place to stay. Handy for the main sights yet peaceful - Great place to stay. Staff were really helpful. The use of free bikes is a boon. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.
- Lesley (9/5): Very nice atmosphere, helpful staff. - The owner and staff were helpful and considerate. The breakfast was freshly made for us and more was offered.
We were able to have a late checkout as well. The beds were too firm for us. The location was a bit far from cafe's.
- Puravidam (7/5): Maybe for one night rest - Not much..
The owner was quite nice It was a little bit sinister
- Amy (8/5): - Nice location and wonderful hosts. Very helpful and accommodating. Catered to our needs for breakfast and helped with transportation needs. A quiet location, and not too far from the town. Within walking distance.
- Neal (6/5): - Over charge for medicore breakfast. Checked out early for better accomodation. Double booked by mistake. No refund.
- Pamela (7/5): If clean and simple is what your looking for, I would recommend it. - Cottage was simple and clean. Owner, Gerhardt, was helpful in providing recommendations on what to see and where to eat Can’t think of anything.
- Christopher (10/5): - Outstanding rooms with firm king-size bed's and crisp sheets. Host was amazing!
- Edward (8/5): Very good - Fresh breakfast and well cooked eggs however you like them.
- Adrien (8/5): - My check in was lacking. None of my questions were answered. The laundry facilities that were listed on amenities didn’t exist so I spent my first night lugging my clothes 30min to the laundromat.
The room was fine. A little pricy for being on par with most budget places I’ve stayed on my travels. There was a fridge but no kettle.
It’s a bit far from restaurants in the pm. But there are a couple great local non tourist filled spots for lunch. Not close to much but quiet.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (10/5): Quiet and comfortable accommodation - The guesthouse is located in a quiet area outside the city center. So you need to walk quite a bit to get to the shops and ruins or use the free bikes provided by the guesthouse. The room and bathroom are comfortable and clean. The Wi-Fi is good as is the breakfast. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. So we had a perfect stay! Nothing, everything was perfect.
- Wayne (7/5): Good -
- Dee_Mc04 (8/5): Lovely place to stay beside local attractions - Stayed as a family of three for two nights. Good location near the historical park walking distance. We arrived in the middle of a festival which was great to be able to see. The owners are a lovely couple who offer a warm welcome on arrival. The room was clean & good sized. Lovely host who is very helpful with local attractions advice. Option to hire bikes which was great. We also had the breakfast which was well filling and set you up for the day.
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely accommodation, very helpful owners. Not a dislike but ... you need to be prepared to use a cycle or arrange other means of transport. The place is near the main sites but too far to get round by walking. However I'm sure the owners would help arrange that as they were super helpful.
- James (8/5): Large room in attractive garden. Friendly service. Loved the use of free bikes. - Large room and the bungalows were in a tropical green environment. Attractive dining area and good breakfast. We really enjoyed cycling around the historical parks on the guesthouse’s bicycles. The host was very friendly & helpful. The approach road was full of litter which was a bit disappointing on first arriving. The barking dogs and hissing cats at night from the street outside the bungalows kept waking us up.
- E. (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely property. Great little location. Nice and quiet!
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frissen (9/5): Superb - The location of the property is very good and the owner is very helpful. With the bikes that you can borrow at the property you’re able to see everything that you want!
- James (10/5): - Great staff and value. Quiet and peaceful in a garden environment. Excellent breakfast accommodating all dietary preferences. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Bicycle rentals are included in the price. I slept like a baby the two nights I was there. Supreme accommodations at backpacker prices.
- Christopher (4/5): - The property is not close to anything, but perhaps they were misrepresented on Expedia. The rooms were as expected but after we checked in, we went to go eat and look around to give the AC time to cool off the room. Well, someone on the staff went in and turned off the ACs while we were gone and when we returned it was just as hot as when we left.
Do not recommend, difficult to find and access with an invasive staff.
- Olivier (10/5): Near the major sites, in a tranquil location and peaceful environment. - The place is located in a beautiful, well-kept garden. It is tranquil. The owners and the staff are lovely, welcoming and very helpful. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, with a little terrace—free use of bikes to explore Ayutthaya (the best way).
- Yvonne (10/5): Hidden gem, peaceful and quiet stay - Baan Penny in Ayutthaya offers a quiet, pet-friendly stay with free bikes, great WiFi, and a lovely breakfast. The friendly owners provide excellent local tips. Rooms are comfy with garden views and functional.
- Mandy (10/5): Cozy place, great people - Cute little place, everything is very well thought of by the German and Thai owners. They even had an extra baby stroller for us there to use. We enjoyed the place very much. It’s a bit far to walk when it’s super hot and sad they don’t provide meals except for breakfast but Gerald and Penny are happy to help with taxi orders etc. Nothing
- Abhishek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (9/5): Superb - Free bike, perfect location, nice and quiet environment
- Antonio (9/5): Superb -
- Antonio (10/5): Lovely stay in Ayutthaya - Decided to stay at Baan Penny during a 1 day visit in Ayutthaya. Chose this hotel for its close proximity to the temples and based on previous visitor reviews. I was so glad to have stayed here! I was nicely welcomed by staff and by Gerhard (owner of the hotel). Gerhard then showed me my bungalow, the facilities, then arranged to lend me a bicycle (available to guests) so I can leisurely tour all of Ayutthaya. He even gave me maps and key tips on which temples to visit, attractions I shouldn't miss and where I can go for dinner. All very helpful as I didn't have much time to explore Ayutthaya. Gerhard even helped to get breakfast cooked for me the next morning and kindly arranged a tuktuk driver to get me to the train station after breakfast. What lovely service!! Gerhard and his helpful staff makes this a perfect place to stay at in Ayutthaya. I would certainly recommend staying here for anyone wanting to be right by the historical area.
One piece of advice if travelling by train from Bangkok, note that tuktuk drivers will prefer to take passengers on a day tour of Ayutthaya versus taking a small fare to merely take you to your hotel. I had to walk away from the train station across the bridge and into the outskirts of town just to find a willing scooter to drive me close to Baan Penny. Either you use the Grab App or perhaps arrange with Gerhard to get his trusted tuktuk driver to get you from the train station. This way you avoid the hassle of getting to the hotel.
It's family run and everyone was very friendly. The owner seems to be from Germany, and there was a German flag hanging there.
The room was clean and the surroundings were quiet and comfortable.
Although it's far from the city, you can rent a bicycle for free, so it's not an inconvenience.
There is no kettle in the room, but you can get hot water in the dining room, so it wasn't a problem at all.
I think it has good cost performance.
I highly recommend this hotel.
- Didier (10/5): - A family-run place, nicely located near the historical park, many old temples and the elephant palace. in a green and quiet par of town. highly recommended if you're looking for something simple and quiet! The hosts are friendly and helpful.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Lukasz (10/5): Exceptional - Run by a German guy, so you can talk in "european" english.
Bicycles to rent without extra charge. Bicycles are bit tired and quite small (as for a 1.8m tall guy)
- Mariette (9/5): Great to discover Ayuttayah in 24h or 48h - The owner and the staff were so helpful with a lot of good recommendations (restaurants, temples to see,…). Well located too. Big breakfast with plenty of choice.
They also lend freely bikes (i did not use it at the end i did everything by walking but i recommend to download Grab = uber in Asia if needed). Nothing except maybe that my room neighbour had some dogs that were barking at night, but not the fault of Baan Penny.
- Dieter (9/5): Pleasant stay in nice ambiente - Baan Penny is a family organised resort. The German owner is a lovely host who is always available to help and advise his guests. The bungalow is spacious and also has a cozy balcony to relax on. The entire resort is equipped with tasteful gardens, which also contribute to your well-being. The resort is close to the historical sites of Ayutthaya located . Therefore my recommendation is to use bicycles to get there. Bicycles are available at the resort and are well maintained. Even a scooter is available on request. Internet and wifi are state-of-the-art and there streaming is no problem at all Coffe offered is Nescafe . I actually have no problem with that, since I mainly use the same Coffee at home. No safe vor valuables in the room
- Andy (8/5): Very good - The accommodation is individual chalets our was comfortable in a basic way.
The owners were really friendly and attentive. They organised a private boat trip for us.
I would be happy to recommend. It would be a difficult place to stay without transport.
The surrounding area was a bit off putting initially.
- Dan (9/5): Superb - The facilities, and confortable placa The location is within walking but not comfortable to walk due to lack of side walks and pedestrian are not primary in Thailand.
- Han Peng (8/5): - Enjoyed a two-night stay here: friendly and helpful owners, clean and tidy accommodation, peaceful surrounding.
- Chris (9/5): Tranquil haven in Ayutthaya - Baan Penny is a hidden gem, a really tranquil place to stay at Ayutthaya. The owner and staff were very helpful, and the breakfasts excellent. A great place to stay, particularly if you are looking for a quiet location and you have a car.
- Peter (9/5): The host are lovely and very friendly - Good bed decent facilities good value
- Richard (7/5): Room needs a refresh - Staff were very kind friendly and helpful. Gerhard booked restaurant for us and got us special treatment for our anniversary. Free bicycle use during stay. Our room was a bit tired, needing redecorated. Ceiling cornice peeling away
Towels hard and thin. Shower head kept falling off rail.
- Simon (10/5): - Very kind, present and helping owners. The rooms are very comfortable. If I ever go back to Ayutthaya, I'll gladly rent a room again at Baan Penny!
- Annika (10/5): Exceptional - Nice and green hotel area and staff was so friendly😊 close to all attractions and you can use the hotels bikes to reach them faster
- Sirius (10/5): - Nice family run this business.
- astridt2024 (10/5): Relaxing and conveniently located green guesthouse - Great hosts, comfortable rooms with own veranda each, bikes to borrow, travel advice and support in and around Ayutthaya and a relaxing and green environment. WiFi, AC, breakfast and located in biking distance to many temples. Great for families, friends, couples and solo travelers alike.
- Chadanita (10/5): Everything is very good. Worth the money that i paid. - Quiet, clean, nice staffs, good location and pet friendly. None.
- Daya (7/5): Good -
- Emmanuel (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location , wonderful and helpful host, awesome price /quality ratio
- Suzanne (8/5): Very good - Friendly helpful staff
- Kerrie (9/5): The property is well located to sites. Complementary bikes is a great service. - The location. Very convenient to the sites.
- Chonnikarn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emmanuel (10/5): Excellent - Merveilleux séjour ! Hôtel très bien situé ! Hôte très sympathique et très serviable !
- Máté (9/5): Superb - The place is well-located to visit Ayutthaya, and is very good value for money. Gerart is an excellent host who helps with everything. As mentioned by others, this is indeed an area wherel people around keep animals, so if you are a light sleeper, you might hear the roosters in the morning. However, my impression of Ayutthaya was that this can happen at any other guesthouse, too.
- Aiello (10/5): Exceptional - We were greeted right away by a nice young woman and were offered some fresh squeezed juice. Gerhard brought us to our room and showed us where everything was. He also provided us a map, gave us an overview of the historical park, loaned us some bicycles to explore the city, and suggested a restaurant for dinner (Garden Side Restaurant Meet Up - it was delicious!). We slept well and had a nice breakfast before our departure. Thank you to Gerhard and the rest of the staff for a great stay!
- Lynn (10/5): Good location, lovely clean accommodation and helpful, friendly owners. - Gerhart and his family made us very welcome and spent time explaining the local attractions and best place to eat. Breakfast was very good. Nothing to dislike.
- Fjkek (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly owner, good breakfast for fair prise
- Pamela (9/5): Superb - Very nice host. Bikes are free. Clean and simple room. Air conditioner was quite noisy and the brakes of my bike didn't work very well.
- Andrew (8/5): Quiet and peaceful location - Big room, trees and plants, quiet location, spacious, nice kitchen, excellent breakfast, reasonable bikes. Hard Thai style bed, though sort of get used to it. Thin pillows, maid obliged with a second pillow.
- Petr (8/5): Fulfill our expectation. - Good location for sightseeing trip. Clean and comfortable accommodation with free bike rent, which definitely helps - can not be done by walk. All ok.
- Cara (7/5): A good spot to spend the night with pets when travelling south. - The room was clean and tidy and the staff were helpful. I wish there was a kettle in the room.
- Nicolas (8/5): - Very good, efficient :)
- Duncan (10/5): - Anchali and Gerhard were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome. Looked after us extremely well and gave us some great pointers on where to eat and explore in Ayutthaya.
Room was clean and cosy.
- IGOR (10/5): - Very good family hotel. The owners help you like you are the member of their family
- Thorsten (10/5): Baan Penny the perfect to place as a base to explore Ayutthaya. - bike, breakfast, clean, location, staff, relaxed
Location: Ayutthaya historical park is just 10 min by bicycle which you can rent for free. More sights are reachable in 30min to 1 hour also by bicycle.
Breakfast: ample and delicious
Wifi: very fast and stable
Staff: very friendly and helpful
- stan Jason (8/5): - Lovely property with 8 bungalow-type rooms. Very friendly host who mapped out a one day tour of Ayutthaya for us, including an excellent local restaurant. Bikes are available at Baan Penny and that is how we we toured the city. There is a market nearby too.
- Tubtib (10/5): Very good place! - Location, cleaness, pet friendly, security -
- Martyn (10/5): Baan Penny 👍👍👍 - Tranquil and pleasant surroundings, excellent hospitality and customer service . A more peaceful environment would be hard to find , and the rates are good for this quality of property 👌 N/A
- sweetiekin (10/5): Resort style stay - This is a family run homestay/Airbnb by a Thai/German retired couple.
Owner assisted us to book a tuk tuk for B$1000 for half a day usage to visit the temples and etc for 2 days.
Room was clean enough with towels and etc. Rooms are like resort style so really comfortable. Breakfast was not included but may arrange with the owner the day before for a fee if required.
Owner is very friendly and shared with us where to go and what to see around Ayutthaya with we really appreciate it.
Location is not near the town centre so must take a taxi or tuk tuk.
Overall we are happy with our stay.
- Twan99 (10/5): Exceptional - Very helpfull host! Good location to explore the old city. There also free bikes available at Baan Penny.
