Aditya (2/5): - I booked my stay in September because expedia has shown a good rating on their page . I called expedia and they mentioned that it is a good hotel .But when i went there , there is no reception , a small room and a girl was sitting there . They will say breakfast included . For that the hotel gave you some token and you have to go out of the hotel and walk to a resturant and gave them this token and they will give you food . Trust me me and husband vacated that place within 2 hrs . The hotel is in a shady place , no security . Ac is not working working properly ( it is more than a heater). Anybody can enter in the hotel and door knobs were at the stage if someone kicked my door , it will broke . Washrooms were extremely bad . I have change our hotel stay . We contacted expedia , shared pictures as well and told them that we cannot going to stay there and we want the refund . Expedia tried calling at the reception but no one picked call . We asked the girl at the reception that expedia was trying to reach you . She said i can't talk to them , my boss will talk to them in the morning . Expedia tried contacting them , but we haven't got any refund . I don't think they were able to reach out to anyone at the hotel .Please don't book this hotel if you care about your safety and hygiene .

The shower was broken, try to called the office to see if someone can help but never answered the phone, try to go to the office the next day waited till 12 and no one ever came in decided to book a different place and drop the keys. Also the “breakfast place” not too many options the restaurants near food was really pricy paid for 2 peoples meal over a $100 one order was a chicken milanesa with fries and water and the other one was like a fajita with tostones and a beer. The smell outside the property was really bad as well and the ambulant vendors very pushy to sell activities. I would never recommend this place or go there
Cesar (8/5): - The area just outside the property is very crowded and noisy well into the night. The room has old / rusted fixtures in the bathroom. The refrigerator seems fairly new, but the microwave oven is a lot older and the sides are rusted. The AC unit is very outdated and struggles to cool the room adecuately.

Rusted pipes and sink facet was lose and moved around when you turn on/off the water. AC was old and all the directional blades were broken so could not adjust the flow. Go with low expectation and not a 3* resort.

Todd (2/5): - Unfortunately, I didn’t read the recent reviews before booking. The area around the hotel is packed with prostitutes, drug dealers, and people constantly trying to make a “hustle”. The door to the room was Very loose (very loose frame that moved when opening the door), there is about a 1 inch gap between the “bottom” of the door and the floor, and the room was dirty with hair from previous guests. I tried to get a refund and rebook with CheapTickets but the property refused. The rooms are about two steps below a pay by the hour motel.

We checked out after 15minutes when we saw the room, we went to Grand Sirenis Hotel and Resort and this hotel was great! I don’t need to revise my review on Hotel Tropicana.
Rogerio De Souza (2/5): - This “hotel” is TERRIBLE! In short… check in started at 2pm, we got into our room after 5pm. They gave us the wrong room, with beds that didn’t fit us. Our actual room was TERRIBLE… the bed kept falling apart during the night while we were sleeping so we had to get up to put it back together… the mattress and pillows are sooooo uncomfortable! The AC was barely working and was leaking water into the room. The floor and couch were SOAKED! We were mopping floors at 10pm during our vacation! The towels were horrendous and left you almost as wet as when you got out of the shower. Customer service was RUDE and that’s IF you were able to find them… it was a miracle if you found anyone in the front office and if tou did, they were anything but helpful. Rooms only get “cleaned” every 2 days. They provided NO hand soap, NO paper towels, 3 spoons and ONE single fork for our room. We regret the very moment we booked this “hotel”… definitely the one and only negative to our vacation was the entirety of the stay at this place The only positives about this place are its location, which is close to the beach, pharmacy, mini market, restaurants, etc, and the fact that the area felt fairly safe at all hours.

A screwdriver looking key was given to us for entry into our room. The entry was through a back patio door that was unsecured when we arrived! As I slid the patio door open a strange man exited the room running towards the front of the property where he was no longer seen! I could see the room was filthy, moldy and old! I immediately returned to the officer where I located the female that checked us in outside hanging with strange men! I explained what just happened at our room and that I could have been robbed, raped, or killed! She didn’t seem to care but joked in Spanish with another woman!!!! This are is in the poorest part of the Dominican Republic. It’s in the hood and this property is like a cheap motel where pimps take their prostitutes to sell their bodies! The pictures that are being displayed on Expedia is a lie! Strange men are hanging around the gates that are not secured as well as women walking up and down the street looking for a date! This property attempted to keep my money and refused to answer any calls. Expedia acted swiftly and very professionally, making sure my refund from the property will be credited back to my credit card.! THIS PROPERTY IS NOT SAFE FOR ANYONE TO STAY ESPECIALLY WOMEN. I AM GOING TO DO A BLOG ON THIS PROPERTY TO GET THIS PROPERTY BANNED! not safe for Americans
Iman (2/5): - What everyone says is true, do not stay here. Left after one night. There were mosquitos everywhere when we entered our room. The bathroom looks like it hasnt been cleaned in years, the shower head doesnt stand and the waters cold. The kitchen sink was overflowing and water leaking under. They didnt even provide soap in the bathroom to wash your hands who knows how many diseases have been spread around there. The entry sliding door had a screw falling out every time we opened it. Just the worst place if you wanna relax, the price is too high for a barely livable accommodation.
Tory (8/5): - Pros: Nice pool. Unlimited filtered water cooler in room. Hot water. Good water pressure. AC worked well. Beds comfortable. Office clerk spoke English. Choice of 6 free breakfasts at restaurant 1/2 block away. No bugs. Ok place for price. Cons: music playing across street until 12-1 AM every night. Some lime build up on faucets but this is a high humidity environment.
MARYBETH (4/5): - Dingy and dated. Staff not friendly nor readily available.
Alan F (10/5): Good time - Little hard to find. Water not hot. Just tepid, but after being in hot sun is all you need. Plenty of good restaurants with live entertainment minutes away. Neighborhood a little noisy. Spectacular beach 5 minutes away. Great value for the money.
Colin (2/5): - I was really looking forward to staying at the Hotel Tropicana Deluxe Suites, but unfortunately the majority of the staff, especially the cleaning staff, was rude bordering on belligerent. On the first night that I was there the faucet in my suites restroom had a constant leak, a stray cat got into my suite, and there was a huge amount of hairs on the towels and sheets. There were also streaks on the towels as well-really disgusting. I asked for another room, but the Dominican Jessica would not accomodate me. The add for this property is very misleading as well. They staff, with the exception of one conceirge, were very poor.
Shamila (2/5): - We stayed there for 6 nights and 7 days and we have been told that rooms will be cleaned after 2 days but no one came to clean our room and bathrooms we tried to ask cleaning people too but no one showed up ! This hotel is good because lots of restaurants around it and bavaro beach is just 5 mins walk but staying inside this hotel was not our great experience

JERLIS IRINA (2/5): Terrible place - The room was terrible, they gave us b4. The tv didn't work, the showerhead bracket was broken so we had to use as a handheld showerhead. All the bath accessories were rusty. None of the WiFi networks worked. The sink was clogged and had a leaking. The kitchen cabinets cover didn't open properly. The bed wasn't comfortable. They shouldn't rent this room at all. The only thing that worked was the air conditioner and the breakfast was good.
Calvin (4/5): - Multiple problems with pluming and not willing to accommodate. Several pipes burst and they did not provide me another room. The room was literally flooded from under the sink in living room, and leak in bathroom. I had to leave and come back later. No curtain in bathroom and other tenants could see you.
Renay (2/5): - The bathroom has rusted faucets and taps, no hand towels or face clothes, the vanity cabinets that were falling apart, and the mirrors had not been wiped in a while. Windows were filled with dead bugs. The curtain rods had fallen off on the patio doors. The pool was not clean, cloudy water and desperately needed to be skimmed to remove the fallen leaves and bugs. This was not as advertised and a big let down.
Verified traveler (6/5): Poor service - I arrived to the hotel at 11 pm, the checkin office was closed and I had to spend one night at another hotel before returning the next day.

PETER (4/5): Easy fixes for a better stay!!! - A/C barely worked. No toilet paper or towels in room upon check-in (arrived 2 days later) very basic and wi-if was horrible (practically nonexistent). Otherwise, not bad if you’re looking to get off a big resort.

Haider (2/5): - I am not sure how this hotel is considered 4-stars and the ratings on expedia are misleading. The wifi doesn’t reach the room. There is loud music playing all night, place is pretty run down and pretty dirty. During our 6 day stay the place was only “cleaned” once which was a change of sheets and additional towels. Not a place to relax you can hear loud cars and surroundings. I would avoid this one to be honest.
Riani Ananda (2/5): - I had a disappointing experience at this hotel. No toiletries provided, uncomfortable heat upon arrival since ac was not on, and inappropriate comments from staff. Additionally, despite the advertised free breakfast, it was unavailable. Overall, a regrettable stay.

Faustin (2/5): - This physical property has a different name than the one listed on Expedia. If you are not aware of this, you will go in circles to find the place. Not the best thing to get into after a long flight. Property: Cumbersome parking if you are renting a car but better than not having one. The hotel lobby is like a security stall. Hardly noticeable. The front desk treat you without any dignity. Zero hospitality, inaccurate information, talk and act without emotions. Room: We booked a deluxe studio. The bed wasn’t a queen as promised, the shower was broken, the bathroom lights were flickering, the wifi didn’t work, the television didn’t work, AC didn’t cool the room. Overall: Don’t recommend this property. There are better properties which will offer an amazing experience. We checked into another property to rid ourselves of this negative experience.
Jaime (4/5): NOT recommend stay elsewhere - Terrible experience. Do t bring your family here. Place is not being maintained properly it’s outdated, beds are old, the wifi did not work. The people are rude and the technician that came to fix the wifi told me that I can only use my devices in the balcony or else I’ll loose signal.
Fabian Leonel (6/5): - Cons-Weak wifi, had to use strength to close my door nob, cleaning service never came to clean or replace toiletries. TV controller didn’t work to turn on TV, I had to unplug it and press the power button that was hard to find, noisy bed!, make sure you bring mouth wash because once you rinse your mouth, it taste like beach water. Pro-breakfasts cards(free) the staff were nice, no problem on their part. I recommend the hotel if you’re on a budget.
