• Jure (9/5): - Odlična lokacija, le nekaj minut hoje do centra mesta in železniške postaje, vendar kljub temu dovolj umaknjena lokacija, da imaš svoj mir (izjemna lokacija za otroke, ki lahko brezskrbno tekajo naokorg po vrtu). Gostiteljica pripravi izjemno okusen šrilanski zajtrk (sveže pečen domači roti, dahl, sadje,...). Poleg tega nam je ponudila pribor, da smo si lahko pripravili in narezali sveže sadje, ki smo si ga kupili na tržnici. Dala nam je tudi nasvete in ideje za nadaljnje raziskovanje Šrilanke. Malenkost staromodnejši objekt, vendar kljub temu odličen za to razmerje med kakovosotjo in ceno.
• Marit Mary (10/5): Rust, maar toch alles op loopafstand - Het ligt bijna naast ‘de drukke’ straat van Ella. Maar toch is het hartstikke rustig. Maar een paar kamers en lekkere zitplekjes buiten. Fijne gesprekken gehad met de eigenaresse, een speciale vrouw, vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Lekker ontbijt en we hebben ons erg welkom gevoeld met onze twee jonge kinderen. Dankjewel! Het voelde als thuiskomen en wij komen hier graag terug.

• NH Birds (10/5): Home from home experience. 5 star stay - One of the best home stays on our your. Family run, spacious, very warm welcome, consistently attentive and professional. Cynthia is amazing, so considerate. The home cooking was amongst the best on our tour. And very peaceful. Highly recommended. This is a truly memorable home stay. We loved it and wished we had more time. Gently suggest upgrading bathroom.

• Gihan (7/5): Nice staff at a property that has seen better days - The property was less than a 10 minute walk from the train station, which was great as I had an early train to catch. Cynthia was very agreeable to pack my breakfast for the long train ride and gave me a very substantial amount of food for the train. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water in the shower The room and property look very tired and old. It is a shame that what could be a lovely place has clearly seen better days. The lock to my room door was t working properly and needed to be fixed. The bathroom door is very low and while I’m normal height, I banged my head on it the first time I entered the bathroom. While clean, everything looks quite worn and old. Perfectly fine for one night but I would hesitate to stay there for longer

• Peta (9/5): Perfect location to walk to town. - Cynthia was a warm host and great communicator. The sri Lankan breakfast was really delicious, with the freshest papaya and watermelon juice. Occasionally the squirrels bang on the roof in the early morning, but we loved the sound. Also deer on the property. Great views and walking distance to town and restaurants. Nothing.
• Eva (10/5): A little oasis - Beautiful property in a great location, close enough to walk into town, far enough to not be in the noise. We had a lovely stay with great breakfast every morning. The room was very big and there is lots of space to sit around outside and enjoy the beautiful plants and sounds of Sri Lanka. The hosts were lovely too and very helpful. Will definitely be back on our next stay in Sri Lanka. Thank you!

When we arrived Cynthia gave us a warm welcome and she was extremely helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast each morning was wonderful and filled us up for the day. We really enjoyed our time here, I would highly recommend to anyone! Everything was perfect.

• Victoria (9/5): Superb - Perfect place to stay if you want to be in the centre of Ella but away from the crowds and noise of the city. The walk to the centre is maybe 8 minutes. Cynthia the owner is super caring and we had the biggest and most delicious breakfast on our whole trip through Sri Lanka. The garden is beautiful and you can sit inside or outside and relax.

Cynthia genuinely wants to look after her guests and really goes the extra mile to do so even making special breads for me and making a packed breakfast when we had to make an early start

• Glen (10/5): Exceptional - Idyllic retreat just a 5 minute walk from Ella station, but on the outskirts of the town, so it’s peaceful. Lovely garden setting, with squirrels and sunbirds and delicious breakfast served on the terrace. It’s an historic building, with loads of character, but an older fitout, so don’t expect a 5 star finish. I would not stay anywhere else in Ella. first place hands down.

• Mark (9/5): Superb - Lovely house with a peaceful garden. Slightly away from the mayhem of Ella but close enough to walk there. 5 minutes walk from the station but you don't get any of the noise. A few ants crawling around the room.
• Andreas (9/5): Superb - Cynthia is a very kind, friendly, and helpful host. She and her staff prepared an excellent and copious breakfast. The guest house is an island of quiet in very noisy Ella, but still within easy walking distance from the town. We would definitely stay here again.
• Chloe (7/5): Lovely stay near Ella town - We really enjoyed staying with Cynthia and her staff were so attentive. Every morning she prepares the most wonderful breakfast and it was so delicious, you could choose from a Sri Lankan one or a western one. I picked the Sri Lankan one everytime. The homestay is 5 minutes walk from the town and the train station so we could catch the train pretty seamlessly! Cynthia and her family are also very lovely & I spent some mornings getting to know her and her family more. It was not as easy for Uber or Pickme drivers to find this place without a sign but we still managed to find it at the end. The road could be very dark in the evening but I always had the torch from my iPhone on so it wasnt a huge problem! Unfortunately , one evening a rat managed to get into our room possibly due to the age of the property where it may have climbed in through a gap in the wall/door . Cynthia and her family has tried their best to get rid of it and they even swapped the bedding out for us, so was grateful for that.

• Karol (9/5): Superb - Cynthia is such a warm hostess and very attentive to make sure the stay is as comfortable as possible. The location is excellent as it is only approx. 400 metres to Ella town but secluded enough to be away from the bustling town. The breakfast is the best I've had in Sri Lanka. You have options of Sri Lankan or western breakfast. I chose western for a change and it was excellent. Not a negative but one thing to point out if walking to or from Ella in the dark. There is about 200 metres of roadway that is not lit up so ensure to bring a light for that stretch.

The Sri Lankan breakfast then next morning was delicious and abundant. The host Cynthia and her staff were kind and attentive.

Nice breakfast spread is included in the price and the owner will accommodate additional meal requirements. Internet is very good. The whole property is surrounded with beautiful garden and patio is just amazing. Taking everything into consideration you can't beat the price and what you get with it.
• Shapiro (10/5): Absolutely PERFECT! We miss it already. - You must stay here!!! The property is impeccable and the views are STUNNING. Cynthia was our favorite host - she was kind, warm, welcoming, hospitable, and made the best breakfast! The rooms were large with comfortable beds and cozy decor. The rooms and the bathrooms were clean and the water was warm. Also, the property is a 6 minute walk from the center of town!! Truly the BEST location. We felt right at home and will always remember our stay at Sunnyside with Cynthia.

• Mark (10/5): Peaceful oasis in busy Ella - We had a wonderful three nights here in a traditional homestay. It was in a very peaceful location but only a few minutes walk downhill to the lively town of Ella. Cynthia and her family were very friendly hosts and provided us with enormous varied breakfasts.
• Guy (10/5): Sweetest family guest house - Sweetest little family guest house in an old tea planters cottage, it's a short walk from town with a lovely garden full of flowers and birds and views across the valley. They only have three rooms, the meals are freshly made and delicious. The best food we have eaten in our 3 weeks. The family are so welcoming. There's is nothing to dislike, this is not a hotel but a family home with period features and lovely old furniture.

The host Cynthia is exceptionally great host I have ever come across.. She makes sure you are all comfortable and provides you all that you additionally request for.. We were 7 of us from India and we were craving for Indian flavours.., she could make it so perfect on the dining table for us❤️ This was our best stay in Ella.. • Gregory V (10/5): Quiet Relaxation - I loved my stay here. It was precisely what I needed and expected from Ella. The place is simple but comfortable. The simplicity makes it very relaxing and calming. The host/owner Cynthia is super kind and has excellent communication skills. The gardens and veranda are lovely for a cup of tea and reading or writing—especially in the many downpours Ella gets. The location is about a 7-10 minute walk to town and along a road that is fairly comfortable to walk on. The internet is a bit slow, but no slower than most of my other stays in Sri Lanka. The breakfast is delicious! My western breakfast was totally adequate, but my Sri Lankan breakfast was the best I had in Sri Lanka. Her coconut-whole wheat rotis are a true delight!
• margaret (10/5): - Cynthia and her husband were the most obliging hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Being a bungalow I never thought to ask for a ground floor room but we had been allocated one on the first floor. The steps were steep and when they saw I was struggling they immediatly offered us another room on the ground floor. The room was clean, spacious and had a comfortable bed. The bathroom shower had a curtain which meant everything else didn't get wet. Town was a short walk away and although Cynthia doesn't offer meals she kindly made us some soup. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 days here

• Nishantha (10/5): - This place is a little gem. Super helpful owners Cynthia and Roshan and excellent breakfast, in fact the best breakfast I had in Sri Lanka. Cynthia and Roshan were so nice and went out of the way to help guests. The following morning, Roshan even drove me to the Colombo bus stop some 2 kms away. The place is within walking distance from the Ella train station. What's more, if you can play a little bit of piano, you can play the piano at the place. There you have it! I will highly recommend this place to anyone and will definitely go back there and spend more nights next time.

On the right on the bend about 500m past one street on right. Large room. Great breakfast, western or Sri Lankan. Owner very friendly and helpful. Walked from hotel to 9 arches bridge, Little Adams Peak and town. Owner organised a tuk tuk to meet 20 seater AC bus 3kms from hotel to Colombo- 6hrs 750R. Did not find this info on any search.
• Jennifer (10/5): Lovely setting. - We were very kindy greeted with a pot of tea by the lovely owner, beautiful residence in garden setting, the room was basic but adequate for our 1 night stay. Breakfast was nicely laid out and served in dining room.
