Guest Reviews
- Tennessee (10/5): - Staying here was great! The staff were helpful and the room was nice
- Malou (6/5): - No electric fan it was too warm during our stay
- DIANA (2/5): - Very noisy!!! Loud music till 2 am due to convention center next door
- Xiaorui (2/5): - Parking far, concrete room. Tolet not working.
- Amie (10/5): - Was great
- CHEN, (8/5): - It’s good choice for summer stay if you are looking for great environment and convenient accommodation with reasonable price.
- JD (8/5): - Everyone was lovely and everything's was clean but the beds and pillows were extremely uncomfortable and I have stayed in hostels and other university properties.
- Sarah Anne (8/5): - Clean and utilitarian university dorms. Good sized fridge and hot plate included; no coffee machine, tea kettle, or hairdryer as it was a dorm. Concrete floors, very quiet. The beds were unusually high off the ground but comfortable- might be difficult for a person with mobility issues or a smaller child to enter/exit the bed. Helpful and friendly front desk and breakfast staff. Complimentary breakfast included scrambled eggs, baked goods, cereal, and fruit. Really cute white tailed jackrabbits and magpies on the campus. A bit of a walk to the parking garage, but the building has spots for drop off and loading/unloading bags. We would stay here again.
- Jaret (6/5): - Its a dorm room.
- Garreth (6/5): It’s student accommodation so don’t expect much! - It’s student accommodation so we got what we paid for. It’s one step above a prison cell but it was cheaper than anything else during stampede. No AC in the building either so it was super warm. The staff did give us fans though.
- Carole (10/5): - Great location walking to all our activities loved our stay
- Hawkins (10/5): - I like their parking, feel very safe.
- Margaret (8/5): - .
- Mike (4/5): Dorm living - Parking is terrible, continental breakfast was decent. I know it’s a dorm setting but comfortable chairs would be nice and a decent mattress. Very confusing to find.
- Shekhar (2/5): - Bad breakfast
- Dalisay (4/5): - Room was dirty and not clean.
- Jeffrey (8/5): - No air conditioning, but a friendly staff member offered to bring two fans which helped.
- Kristina (6/5): - The unit was very basic but definitely needs to TLC. The concrete floor was crumbling in several places which made it feel contsbalty dirty with small pieces sticking to your socks/feet. The toilet wasnt securely fastened to the flood and there was just a plastic wedge to hold it in place so if not super careful the toilet would tip to the side. It is disappointing that the units come with kitchens but kitchen kits are no longer available for rent so you need to hring your own stuff or are unable to actually use the kitchen.
- Ashlee (10/5): - Affordable and easy
- Kevin (8/5): - good stay for large groups
- Lawrence Estacio (10/5): - Sait
- Mohamed (10/5): - Hôtel super pour un jour, pas de climatiseur
- Delilah Palacay (4/5): - I hope they put AC and cutleries nextime
- Verified traveler (6/5): - the room was clean enough but pretty bare bones. There were no hangers in the closet and the kitchen was bereft of dishes, cutlery and so on. The price made it a bargain, especially as a last-minute stay. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the parking was free.
- sydney (4/5): - I expected few amenities but the 2 pillows were a little thin. The biggest issue was that the room was soo hot. It was difficult to sleep. The hallway and outside were both cooler than the room. It felt like a hostel in Europe. I wouldn't stay here again.
- Kristan (10/5): - The LRT made it easy to travel to our events and destinations
- Kevin (10/5): - Great place to stay. God bless.
- Travis (8/5): - I believe this "hotel" is only bookable in the summer as it's usually a student residence. It was reasonably priced and was a decent place to stay.
- Teresa (4/5): - Bed is not as pictured in ad, no air conditioning which was not mentioned in ad.
- Danica (4/5): - No a/c.
- Eunho (10/5): - It was really safe and good service
- Gerald (10/5): - Good location
- Verified traveler (2/5): Can’t reach “24/7” front desk - Terrible service - I tried to call multiple phone numbers and messaging processes to let the 24/7 desk know I was going to be late; I was unable to get through to the point I had to stay elsewhere and pay a hideous amount for a last-minute stay; I’m still waiting to hear back about a refund but hotels.com can’t even get a hold of the company.
- Gustavo (10/5): - Affordable
- brian (6/5): - SAIT hotel is a dormitory used for accomodations in the off season. Rudimentary rooms with concrete floors and poor esthetics. Bed was not great. Location was good and breakfast was decent.
- Sushma (4/5): - Disgusting
- Saeid (8/5): - The TV didn’t get any channels.
- Don (6/5): - No TV or radio in room.
- Flordeliza (2/5): - The room temperature was so hot and no temperature control, no aircon and no electric fan. It was suffocating.
- Benjamin (8/5): - Nice views from high floors
- Blessing (8/5): - I liked the free breakfast and how it was close to downtown
- Bruce (8/5): - A clean, affordable place to stay. Bring all you need. There is no coffee maker or kettle, no dishes or utensils, no TV, no wifi (and poor cell reception)—but there are toiletries. The continental breakfast included was good.
- Frederic (6/5): Unconfortable - The matress are horibly unconfortables. Spring matress and you feel all of them! On text description, App 4 don't include kitchen (only refrigerator and microwave) but on picture, you mention a private kitchen. That mislead us as there was none cookware at all. don't say private kitchen if you need to bring your own cookware... I would stay at an hotel instead. It was to be in family. But only one 3 places sofa and a small 4 seats table for a family of six. it wasn't worth it.
- Joe (6/5): - Rooms were good but the parking was too far from the rooms
- Craig (4/5): - Awkward parking scenario (motorcycle) /poor room lighting/non-functioning TV/terrible uncomfortable bed/....would not return!
- fasil teklu (4/5): - The room lacks carpet and bed sheets, and the pillowcases have an unpleasant odor, suggesting they weren’t properly cleaned.
- Randy (10/5): - Great sleep, good continental breakfast, friendly staff
- Dominic Vincent (8/5): - The building looks okay. Not the best but not bad. We stayed there for the stampede. It is convenient and accessible. The breakfast are okay even tho it was the same the whole three days we stayed there. Parking lot is good.
The night shift stuff are good. But one of the staff which happen to serve us in the afternoon seems need more training how to communicate with guests.
We had to change our room because the first one they assigned to us was dirty. The floor was unclean, the shelves were dusty, pee stains on the toilet, and it was super hot.
They let guests borrow stand fans since there is no AC there. Didn't bother us that much.
It is cheap, so don't expect too much.
Overall, I would still consider staying there next time.
- Brooklyn (6/5): - Uncomfortable beds, got a bad knot from them
- Yanick (4/5): Not impress and will not recommend this - It was terrible. The building that was showing on the website wasn’t what we got. We got a old building with dirty walls suite, cheap bed and pillows. Dirty toilet and very old tub. It wasn’t clean properly.
- Jordan (6/5): - The beds are probably some of the most uncomfortable you will sleep on however it is affordable just know you are staying in college dorms there are no AC and parking is a 7 minute or so walk with stairs back to your dorm room. No television, no ac, no cutlery this isn't a hotel don't expect a hotel and you'll be okay.
- Jashanpreet Kaur (8/5): - The staff was really helpful.
- Joel (6/5): - It was a chilly stay and the ventilator was noisy. The room was overpriced. I booked with Expedia the first night and upgraded to the corporate studio. It cost $260.00. I booked the second night through RCC and it was $201.00. Even at $201.00 it was overpriced. In a room designed for two, there was only seating for one. It had the most poorly designed window blind systems ever seen. Takes forever to roll blinds down. I will never book Expedia again as I paid $60.00 more and will never book SAIT again as there is no value for the money.
- Anna (8/5): - Loved the breakfast!!!
- stan (8/5): - Close to everything
- Madison (8/5): - It was a last minute stop but a good one.
- David (6/5): - No A/C or even a fan in these warm days
- Alford (8/5): - Good.
- Edme (10/5): - The welcoming attitude of the staff.
- Oksana (2/5): - The room was very old, the bathroom was dirty, and the ventilation hadn’t been cleaned. The bed smelled bad and was extremely uncomfortable. For the price we paid, we could have stayed at a much better place.
- Brandon (10/5): - Great location, 5 min walk to the C-Train
- Ashwin (2/5): - Room was tidy however, bed was uncomfortable. Very hot in the month of July. Parking is an inconvenience. Only one bin provided in the room.
- Connie (10/5): - We stayed at SAIT during Stampede and found it incredibly convenient and a great value. Like other reviews we did find the lack of a/c to be a drawback: we managed by dialling down the fridge (it emits heat) and staying out as late as we could! Our room had a tv, but alas no input. The c-train was a 9 min walk and got us to downtown in 15 min and to Stampede in 20 min. One stop south is a fully stocked grocery store. The breakfast was great and do recommend especially if you plan on using transit.
- Paul wai (10/5): - Good facility.
- Matteo (8/5): - Good stay, perfect for stampede cause the train station despite a somewhat lengthy train ride. No kitchenware without paying for it is pretty odd, and is just annoying (money grab). Reception was nice, super informative, and helpful whenever.
- Liam (6/5): - No AC, mattress very stiff.
- Harris (4/5): - No Air conditioning in all rooms except the top floor. If it’s hot, pick somewhere else to stay.
- Mary Shereen (8/5): - Was clean and tidy Stylish with an amazing view
The ladies at reception were very friendly helpful
- George (2/5): - My room had no light I informed them I’m disabled and don’t want any mishaps I went to the front desk and they inform me they can’t help me or I can pay for an upgrade room that has light or go to another hotel bad service and so manager on duty on weekends
- Lisa (10/5): Great value - Great value, convenient access to train and free parking. Bed is not very comfortable and toiletries are basic, I also couldn’t get access to a hair dryer even though it said available upon request. Overall great stay and would stay here again. Be aware there is no air conditioning.
- Lakhvir (2/5): - The first day of the building when I arrived they ask for the I'd and payment I did after that they gave me the key for the room and told me that the elevators are not working also the parking is very far like 8-10 min walking distance
The staff is very rude I cancel it even staying a single day there
It's looks like a hospital room not a motel or hotel
- Muhammad Jahanzeb (2/5): - We were given just one fan for three people in extremely hot weather. It is hard to breather in the room. Even the drinking water and slippers were not provided.
- Jakob (2/5): - No ac is absolutely diabolical, as Derrick Lewis once said, my balls was hot
- David (8/5): - Room was very nice and well-equipped. There was no recycling bin, and when I asked at the desk, I was told to simply throw my recycling in the garbage!
The continental breakfast was poor. The coffee was revolting. What was labelled ``scrambled eggs'' did not taste like eggs at all! It was terrible. Oatmeal was cold. There was no orange juice. Pancakes were okay, though.
Staff was pleasant. Since I have difficulty walking long distances, they were so kind as to let me park in the lot just outside the doors.
The bed was weird. You can not sit on the edge of the bed since it was so soft. The comforter was tucked in strangely so that I could not pull it up to cover my shoulders. The smoke detector went off while I was having a shower. The remote for the TV was just strange; there is no on/off button and it took me some time to finally get the TV on.
- Ashton (6/5): - Our bathroom had things that were breaking like the toilet paper holder kept falling off, the toilet wasn't flat on the ground so everytime you sat down it moved, the shower head was healed to the wall with tape. Other than that the place was spaces, but theres no utensils in the kitchen, but the breakfast was pretty good.
- Glen (10/5): - A+++
- Danielle (2/5): Hotel? More like run down dorm. - Staying at the SAIT Hotel in Calgary was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at any accommodation. When we arrived, two of the four elevators were already out of service. By the second day, the remaining two also broke down. In a 22-floor building, that’s absolutely unacceptable. They said they might have them working by the next morning. No backup plan, no communication, nothing.
Because of this, we were forced to take the stairs down 15 flights, and then got completely locked in the basement. The woman we spoke to on the phone failed to mention that only one of the two fire exits was actually usable. I have a dislocated kneecap — this was not just inconvenient, it was dangerous. No one came to help us. We eventually made it out on our own, with zero support from the front desk.
To make matters worse, management didn’t notify guests at all. No signs, no emails — and when I asked why, the staff claimed they “had no way to contact us.”
On top of that, the kitchen light went out on day two and wasn’t fixed until after we checked out. The beds were uncomfortable dorm beds with flat pillows and thin sheets, everything felt cheap, neglected, and poorly maintained. There’s also no air conditioning, no ice machines, no phone, no basic amenities, and zero effort to make guests feel safe or comfortable.
This place should not be operating.
- Kennedy (10/5): - Only thing we didn’t like was there was no A/C.
- Ahmad (8/5): - Close
- Shun (8/5): - I couldn’t borrow a hair dryer because they had run out, but the room was clean and the front desk staff were friendly. The location was great, too. I felt the room was a bit too warm at night and couldn’t find a temperature controller, but I didn’t ask the front desk—so I can’t really complain.
- Patrick (4/5): - The price was alright, however, the bed was horrible to sleep on and only 2 pillows. Sucked there wasnt any AC since the room got warm during the day and night. Besides that was close to downtown and the staff was nice.
- Xiomara (2/5): - The bed were not comfortable and we had a kitchenette room but there was nothing of utensils so it’s pointless to rent a kitchenette room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cost-Effective But Trade-Offs - We stayed at the SAIT hotel during a conference in Calgary, where most hotels were either fully booked or overpriced. SAIT is part of a college dormitory, so be prepared for a more basic experience. The rooms have spring mattresses, cement floors, and no in-room hair dryers. In the afternoon, we noticed smoke smells coming through the vents—likely from students smoking in nearby dorms, despite posted no-smoking signs.
Breakfast is included, but very minimal: think yogurt, dry muffins, toast, apples or oranges, oatmeal, cereal, coffee, no protein for breakfast, and something that resembles juice (watered-down colored liquid from a dispenser with ice). The scrambled eggs were especially disappointing—tasted from a carton cooked in a microwave. I recommend planning your breakfast off-site.
A parking pass is provided, but the lot is about a 10-minute walk from the dorms. On the plus side, the facility is secure—you need a key card for elevator access and building entry. Naturally, just be mindful not to engage with the student population.
In summary, if you’re okay with dorm-style living and want something budget-friendly and safe, SAIT is a practical choice. Otherwise, it may be worth spending more for a traditional hotel experience.
- Sage (8/5): - It was conveniently located but unfortunately having no air conditioning made it a very uncomfortable stay.
- Nicholas (6/5): - Good reception, breakfast was excellent but they don't have temperature control in the room and the television was not working.
- Jeremy (8/5): - Great location and kitchenette set up.
- Roland (2/5): - Nice
- mila (4/5): - Inconient
- Mike (6/5): - Think of it more as a great hostel than a lousy hotel
- Gustavo (10/5): - Affordable👍
- karen (2/5): - The receptionist was not focused that he forgot to give our key card. He also forgot to mention what time the breakfast starts and where the resto is located
- Rahat (8/5): - It was very nice two suits appartement, and fullfill all requiremnt I was expecting.
- Subrahmanyam (6/5): - Very expensive. Parking area not close and inconvenient. Staff very curt
- Chioma Sylvia (8/5): Good stay - It was a comfortable accommodation and for what I was looking for since I was travelling alone. The breakfast was good too, I was only surprised its same array of options daily.
The room was fairly warm and the hot/cold water system was functional. The city view from my room was great too, I loved it.
The ease of access to train/bus stations also made my commute simpler.
I do wish they can make cooking utensils available in the rooms. Basic such as pots, spoons, etc. since there is already a cooker available.
- TIANYOU (4/5): - Without cooking stuffs, the stove means nothing.
- Xochilt Erendira Maldonado (10/5): - Everything good I recommend 100%
- Clint (10/5): - This is a dorm- it was great that we had 4 room for the 5 of us BUT there was no way 2 adults fit on the beds comfortably. They are small double beds and like hospital beds- they are also up in the air as they have room under to store items. The only thing I would like to see them add is a TV and maybe some kitchen ware (coffee maker would be amazing). We ate the breakfast 1 morning- not good. The area is cute but it is a walk to the train or parking. We did use the laundry room and it was really nice!
- Heather (10/5): - Good location
- MIA (6/5): - No basic tools available for a family staying more than a night. No Air conditioning, cutleries or pots.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Issue with parking and lazy front attendants.
