Guest Reviews
- Robert (9/5): Just stayed one night on way back from Ireland but wish we could have stayed longer. A great find! - full of character - friendly helpful staff - comfortable - great breakfast - great location Nothing comes to mind
- Nisha (9/5): -
- Alan (7/5): Excellent location and good facilities but very slow dinner service. - The location is excellent. The four rooms varied between good and excellent. The breakfast was excellent. The dinner service was sloooooow. On one evening, for example, two and a half hours to receive two courses, by which stage the dessert had run out.
- jill (8/5): -
- Anthony (9/5): A pleasant stay in a lovely location. - Quiet location with very little traffic. Car parking was good. All was good.
- Louise (9/5): -
- Pam (8/5): -
- vanessa (9/5): Perfect stay and we would recommend staying or eating there or both if possible. - Excellent food and exceptional value for money. Wonderful Mountain View’s from room and perfect nights sleep because it was such a quiet room. Staff very friendly. Not a dislike but bedroom and bathroom could do with upgrading. However understand this is on the radar to be done.
- Brenda (9/5): Pleasant couple of nights in beautiful surroundings. - Staff welcoming, room warm and comfortable. Good parking. Interesting old building with lots of nooks and crannies for dining. Cooked breakfast was very good but limited choice for continental breakfast.

- gerard (9/5): - Excellent property friendly staff great views
- Tracy (8/5): Nice rural location. Breakfast could have more choices. - The bedrooms are a good size with a small courtyard overlooking the mountains. The breakfast had very little choice.
- Joanne (10/5): -
- Pat (8/5): Stayed many times and will be returning again before to long. - We have stayed many times. We always get a warm welcome and are remembered by some of the staff. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is always enjoyable with a good choice. We usually have dinner during our stay and are very happy with the variety. What’s not to like, can’t think of anything.
- Cassi (10/5): This is the 5th time my husband and I have stayed at the Groes Inn and it won't be the last! - The area is peaceful and you get amazing views. The staff are amazing, Friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the food is delicious.
- Nicole (8/5): -
- Julee (10/5): - We loved our stay at the Groes. It offered a great last minute stay for us to expose the beautiful surroundings of Conway and Snowdonia National Park. Very comfortable accommodation and lovely dinner and breakfast.
- Steven (8/5): -
- Susan (10/5): - The staff were fantastic.
The views from our room were amazing.
The food and hospitality was great.
Close to so many attractions (can recommend Gwinllan Vineyard tour).
Conwy and Llandudno on the doorstep.
The most beautiful countryside. Our bathroom needed an upgrade, signs of deteriorating fittings, mould etc.
- Peter (9/5): - Amazing view from my room. Really lovely room and bathroom with character. Good food and really good service.
- Carol (10/5): Groes Inn is situated in a beautiful - It was in a lovely position surrounded by by fields with grazing sheep and hills There was nothing to dislike. I would only suggest having another vegetarian option on the menu for lunch/evening dinner
- Mark (6/5): We enjoyed the weekend in Conwy last - The location The room could do with some TLC, Scot needs touching up, cracked tiles on the bathroom floor.
Food was below standard, good choice for breakfast but quality was not the best.
- gilly5262 (10/5): Great stay! - This was our 3rd stay at the Groes Inn, and it didn’t disappoint. The rooms are comfortable and warm although the bathroom maybe could be updated to walk in showers instead of baths, but that is just my preference.
The staff are a credit to the place, friendly and helpful. The food we had was delicious, particularly the Sunday lunch! Loads of parking and EV chargers too! Can’t wait for our next visit!
- Gillian (10/5): Just what we needed! - Lovely old building, friendly staff, beautiful views, and perfect location.
- Susan (8/5): - Wonderful view from room. Quiet. Lovely staff. Could do better with gluten-free options at breakfast. There are good gluten-free sausages available. Also, gluten-free bread doesn't have to be white. On last day it had to be a crust. I had pre advised that I was glutin free on Booking. com and on hotel pre book in. Good thing there weren't 2 GF people in hotel ot one of us would gave missed out.
Pillows weren't best. Hard and flat.
- Richard (8/5): -
- Peter (10/5): A jewel in the heart of Conwy - Young but very friendly and professional staff for whom nothing was too much trouble.
Hotel spotlessly clean and standard oh housekeeping exceptional.
Extremely dog friendly, even offering my four legged friend a sausage for breakfast ! Would have liked a,relaxing residents lounge
- Michael (8/5): -
- Jim (10/5): LOVELY HOTEL IN FABULOUS LOCATION - the staff are really top would rate them 100% the food was as good as you could expect and served in lovely surroundings ,we had dinner and breakfast three times, menu had plenty of choice good portions 100% LEAVING
- Guest (9/5): -
- peter (10/5): Magnificent accommodation, staff and food. - I could wax lyrically on about the many and varied ways in which this is a great place to stay… I only hesitate out of a concern that if I eulogise too much then too many will want to stay themselves and prevent my return I’m struggling to find a solitary thing.
- Keith (10/5): One of the best places to stay that I have been to. - Great location, clean great rooms, friendly professional staff, great food and drink Nothing
- NR442 (9/5): Nice stay - Nice comfortable room. Friendly staff. Lovely breakfast Nothing
- Andrew (8/5): Still a great place to stay - although the accomodation was starting to fray at the edges. - Have visited previously - key areas were still very good - friendly staff - great room with views - food was of a top quality.
Overall the location, views and dining/bar facilities win out - would happily return at a future date The room was starting to look tired - some glazing units in the doors leading to outside area had 'fogged' over - bathroom floor tiles cracked - toilet handle still operational but needs fixing /replacing - bidet was marked as 'out of service' - minor scuffs to paintwork around the room - nothing of major significance, but still an issue.
- Robin (8/5): - Beautiful place Needs to maintenance
- Kaicheng (9/5): -
- Debbie (9/5): Peaceful, attentive staff, comfortable room. - It was cosy and I liked that we were separate from the restaurant with our dog. The staff were attentive and the food was good. Whilst peaceful, felt a little separated from the town. The room was cold but staff bought a heater quickly. Some minor repairs required to room.
- Stephen (9/5): great hotel for conwy - GREAT LOCATION VERY NICE HOTEL, easy to get to conwy. parking right outside the room. there was nothing we did't like
- Val (9/5): good venue, easy access, friendly staff and good beer. - the staff were very helpful in responding to my message about my partner's disability.
the breakfast was excellent, decent poached eggs with the eggs benedict and royal
the dinner, price fixe, was also, very good particularly the bream. there had been a glitch on heating through my veg curry which was fixed promptly. In general the veggie options were carbohydrate heavy and not so much protein; cheese pie with pastry and fries had protein but looked a calorific option. the curry was tasty but maybe some pulses or tofu as opposed to just veg and carbs would have been nice.
- William (10/5): Great food - lovely vibe - friendly staff - Spacious room for such an historic site - fantastic views of the surrounding area You could not walk safely on the road outside
- Joanna (3/5): Bed was comfortable, plenty of hot water but bedroom was grubby. - Location was lovely although the road was busy. Lots of seating in the restaurant areas and dinner in the evening was good with plenty of choice. Staff warm and welcoming. The Signature Double Bedroom was dark and needed redecorating and a thorough clean - grey dust in the radiator, stains on the bathroom ceiling and dirty full length mirror. Breakfast was poor - no taste to the bacon / sausages and the smoked salmon was inedible
- Perry (8/5): - Lovely place and staff good and helpful.
Breakfast good and evening meal very good
- Ashburner (10/5): Warm and Friendly - Everything Nothing
- Morris (10/5): - Lovely location Nothing
- Bexster45 (10/5): Superb - What a lovely find... Perfect stay in rooms adjacent to the main pub with beautiful views.
All staff members were friendly, courteous and helpful.
Commend the housekeeping team for the 5 star level of cleanliness.
Everything required for a great night's sleep, very quiet, comfy bed, fluffy towels and tea/coffee making facilities.
superb dinner in the pub at reasonable prices and a delicious breakfast cooked to order in the morning.
Would not hesitate to stay again and recommend to all.
- Paul (10/5): - Excellent staff, nice comfortable room.
- rachel (10/5): Thank you for a fab stay & we’ll see you soon. - The staff were lovely and worked so hard. The pub offered good beer & a nice menu. The pub would’ve been perfect if the fires were burning to add to the cozy atmosphere. The bathroom looked like it needed a little love & maintenance.
- Anne (2/5): Good location - I have been coming here for 5 years, it’s great as I travel with my dog.
The Bar and restaurant have been revamped. The accommodation side I think has been forgotten about, I’ve been coming for a while and the rooms have needed a spruce up for some time but now they really need it, if it was my first time coming here I wouldn’t be happy at my room for the price I paid, and I wouldn’t come back.
The bar/restaurant is a very old building and was very quirky and I feel that side has now been lost.
- Tracey (10/5): - The views,the breakfast,the evening meal, the room the staff.❤️❤️❤️ Everything,
- Aileen (9/5): Lovely stay - Friendly, helpful staff, lovely comfortable room, huge bed. Breakfast was delicious. Lovely stay will definitely stay again.
- Alan (9/5): -
- john (10/5): A very relaxing and enjoyable stay. - Very comfortable room. Reception and Restaurant staff very friendly and professional. Dinner excellent and very good value for money.. Cooked breakfast not quite hot enough.
- Patricia (10/5): Very good and convenient location - Accommodation and location Nothing
- Evan (8/5): Very enjoyable and we’ll go again. - Mostly up to usual standards. Evening meal cooking not quite to usual level. Breakfast great.
- Julie (9/5): - Helpful staff, tasty food, lovely room. Always stay here when visiting North Wales.
- Debs (8/5): -
- Chris (10/5): Loved the Inn would highly recommend - Great historic building, location was perfect our view from our room was looking out onto fields with sheep grazing so beautiful and peaceful. It was a 5 minute drive to Conwy. The room was beautifully decorated and comfortable large room and bathroom. The pub was great good ambiance and food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Absolutely nothing
- Diana (9/5): Great staff and accommodation. Very dog friendly - Very dog friendly. Great meals. In a lovely location. Hardly any traffic noise in the bedroom although it was on a busy road
- Phillippa 'Flipper' (9/5): Lovely stay in this hotel - The hotel and pub were lovely. The staff were really helpful and friendly. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Food was excellent. Situated in beautiful surroundings. The hotel and pub is old and just needs a few improvements. We noticed that the windows and window sills were cracked and damaged and some grout work is needed in the bathrooms. However, everything else was great.
- Jane (10/5): -
- Julia (10/5): -
- Sharon (8/5): Still really enjoyd it thank you. Fab staff - Breakfast and dinner night 1 was fab Dinner night 2 was poor
- Beckett (8/5): Lovely Old Hotel , Great Value For Monet - Breakfast Brilliant , Good Location For Exploring North Wales Piped Music Over Restaurant 😞 ! Pedantic I Know But Would Have Rather Some Classical Or Perhaps A Radio Station
- Rob (9/5): A warm welcoming old inn with great staff good food and good ale and two log fires to keep out the chills. - Its location, pretty near to where I live so a quick night away, good food and drink and meeting good people during the stay. It’s had a fresh lick of paint inside and out and is looking fresh without the losing its old worldly charm . I’m hoping though the paint might stretch to the pet quarters where in a few places needs a freshen up but a good comfortable room was had for us and our two cockapoos who love the place
- David (9/5): Excellent base for exploring the area - Very friendly staff
Food and drink good quality with gluten free options
Room comfortable and warm
Good location with ample parking Nothing
- Chris (9/5): - Dinner was good and eggs Benedict for breakfast was lovely. Good value for money hotel.
- Foster (9/5): Pf - Staff were brilliant and restaurant was good nice atmosphere. In the bathroom paint coming off ceiling.
- Abby (9/5): -
- Jeff (10/5): Lovely breakfast - Nice location.

- IAN (9/5): - Ambience. Food. Service
- Miranda (8/5): Comfortable, pretty, great food - Pretty, great location Nothing
- Diana (10/5): - The burger we had for evening meal was best one we've ever eaten!! And service is always 5* we love that we never have had one bad meal and we've eaten there lots 😀 Our only issue was bed was super hard
- Healy (10/5): - Everything was lovely, the food, the staff and especially the location! I also liked the history of the building too.
The rooms are fabulous and comfortable.
- Foulkes (5/5): - Bed was hard room was boiling even with heating off and Windows open 1 member of staff that was serving last night had an attatude on her had to change waiter she was very un Professional so she missed out on the tip all other staff was %100 bathroom was a bit grubby could do with a refurb wasn't like the photos that was shown
- Stella (9/5): Great stay at lovely old pub - Large and spacious room with very comfortable bed. Quiet and dark room so slept well. Great views across farmland with sheep in the fields looking towards the mountains. Friendly staff and lovely old pub with lots of atmosphere. Good evening meal. Breakfast a little formulaic but whole experience was great value for money.
- Nicola (10/5): - 5star accommodation lovely staff beautiful food can’t wait to go back
- george (10/5): Will be back - Breakfast was excellent, so was our evening meal in the restaurant. The staff were 5 star, and dealt brilliantly with an old couple who complained about everything.. Well done ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Kirsty (10/5): Unplanned last min booking - The staff were really friendly X it was clean with lovely views outside when we woke, lovely place X will go back again and as I only live in caernarfon would go to the pub/restaurant part for food one day x Nothing to complain about
- Harold (9/5): Very good, would stay again. - Excellent We had an evening meal which was good but we were disappointed at the lack of vegetables with the main course.
- Catherine (7/5): A comfortable stay with friendly staff and nice food. - The room was very clean with nice bedding and towels. It was at the back of the property with good view of farmland and the hills and away from traffic noise. The tea tray in the bedroom was well stocked with tea bags, biscuits and water everyday. We ate in the dining room a couple of times in the evening and found the food to be really nice and good value for money. The staff were also very pleasant and helpful. The room was a little too hot for us the first night but we soon found we could turn the heating off and open the window which cooled things down.
- Tracey (8/5): Excellent value for money , lovely fires & staff, food good - Location
Bar & restaurant
Staff Rooms comfortable but maintenance needed in bathroom
- Billy (10/5): -
- Deborah (9/5): Beautiful historical building in s as picturesque setting with good facilities - Staff were friendly and helpful. Large lovely bedroom but let down a little by the bathroom which although very clean needs renovating. Good choice on menu. Excellent breakfast Bathroom dated

No smell of dog in the room. Breakfast was very tasty. Plenty of choice. I ate at the Inn the previous evening. Lovely food and good service, reasonable price. Nice stay for me and my little dog. - Bryan (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Susan (10/5): Amazing stay at the Groes. Loved everything. Fantastic food and accommodation. od - - I or should I say "we" enjoyed EVERYTHING about the Groes Inn. The accommodation was outstanding - we were fortunate to stay in No 1. A beautifully furnished room which was both warm and welcoming. The fixtures and fittings were tasteful as well as stylish and enhanced the room. The staff were amazing; very professional and provided fantastic customer service. Every request was fulfilled eg.cosy table with birthday banner/as well as cake decoration(as was celebrating partner's birthday). The food was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked...so much so we had a starter/mains and sweet!! As you can see we are big fans of The Groes and we will be undoubtedly back in the near future to enjoy another wonderful stay. We loved everything ...no dislikes
