Guest Reviews
- darren (10/5): - Old rooms outdated.
- Kelly (4/5): - The staff was excellent. The rooms are old but beyond that smelled smoky and was grimy. Carpets looked like they haven’t been cleaned in awhile, vacuumed yes. Doors had dirty finger prints. If this is just starting under new management I wish them the best. It is a nice location. Needs some work.
- Sarah (4/5): - The customer service here is terrible! The door to the main office is always locked. Made checking in and out hard. The cleaning staff have no respect at all. I was walked in on when i was naked. Did not knock just walked right in. I asked several times for her to close the door and she continued talking to me. I was extremely uncomfortable and unhappy with their so called service. Absolute BS.
- Wade (8/5): - Good, basic motel. Clean. Very small televisions. Continental breakfast is very minimal. Room coffee is decent.
- glen (8/5): - For the price it was a pleasant surprise front office staff was very friendly
- John (6/5): - It’ll get the job done, shower was decent for heat and pressure, bed was actually comfortable and I had a good pillow.
- Gary (8/5): - It was spartan, but clean and very reasonably priced. Good value for a quick stay without any need for frills.
- Candace (6/5): - The property offers a continental breakfast - it was bread, milk, coffee, juice and cereal with no proper place to sit and eat; one table covered with a puzzle. But for the price of the room…I’m not gonna complain too loudly! 80 bucks for 4 people. Thats a fair price
- Kyle (8/5): - Friendly staff. Convenient location. Safe.
- Kyle (8/5): - Reasonable rate. Clean. Polite service.
- Raj (10/5): - .
- Jaskirat (10/5): - Lot of parking space
- Michael (8/5): Castor Grey Goose - It was the bare minimum of what you can expect. The hostess knew nothing about the area amenities. This caused me a little apprehension, however I did figure it out for myself. The room was clean and bug free! Cable channels were limited, however I found something to watch.
- Kenneth (4/5): - No parking in front of door late at night. another vehicle there. Office closed. Next day no maid service for clean towels and cleaning.
- Tina (2/5): - I did not like that there is a cannabis store attached to the hotel as there are people outside smoking and I don't like the smell. The rooms smell of bad body odor and are not very clean. However the old bed was a nice surprise. They were more comfortable than they appeared and I would give the pillows a 5 star. A deep clean and remodel could make this a hidden gem.
- Donald (8/5): - Very basic accommodations, value for cost of rooms, friendly and understanding staff.
- Stephen (10/5): - It’s a good place to lay your head down and sleep
- Viktoriia (6/5): - It was really noisy. The room smells not good.
- Ken (4/5): - Definitely an old, old motel that the owners are trying to keep functional. The place is clean but dated with very rough craftsmanship in maintenance that has been done. Not impressed by the black in the caulking around the tub.
- kelly (6/5): - It was nice and close to the ball park. It you don’t like the smell of marijuana don’t stay at this place .lol
- Daryl (2/5): - The ONLY good thing was the price. Rugs were absolutely disgusting and the room smell was horrible. There were 5 families staying in 5 rooms for a wedding. Nothing else was available. Besides the smelly and filthy rooms, the toilets plugged up in all 5 rooms. Unbelievable. This place should be bulldozed down.
- Sherry (8/5): Budget stay - Great stop to sleep for an excellent price. Not fancy, or upgraded…but price reflects that. Standard room with basics; soap, shampoo, coffee etc. customer service is wonderful, and they have free breakfast as well as a store open for extended hours.
- Jeff (6/5): - Was pretty clean and for the price it was sufficient.
- Tyr (6/5): - I think they are trying to revitalize an old property. Clean & comfortable with respectful service ~~ :}
- Verified traveler (8/5): - a good stay staff is great, room is clean
- Micheal D. (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay. Room was very clean and quiet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - pleasant stay, great staff, it's been here forever and i will be back
- Margaret (10/5): - Beautiful scenery, friendly people and nice town. Loved the vibes of this place. Small towns are beautiful.
- Perry (6/5): Only place in town - Old motel. Noisy heater. Very basic but not much for choice if you need to stay in the Castor area. Nearby restaurant was very good though.
- Dennies (6/5): - This is a very old building with lots of history. We were warm and dry, and after a long day,
- Denise (4/5): Made reservation but room not available 😐 - I reserved a room for a business trip. I had an assistant traveling with me and I required two beds. I specified two double beds when I made my reservation. When I arrived at the location, I was informed that two double beds were not available. I will repeat that I reserved two double beds. But they were not available. Why do I make a reservation if I don’t get when I needed? Very dissatisfied! This affected our whole stay.
Our rooms were not equipped with full sized bath towels. We had to request them which meant another trip to the front desk. The room pictured on your site did not match the appearance of the room we stayed in. It was not a good experience. Will not stay there again.
- Kelly (4/5): - No running hot water in the morning. Stains on carpets. Tv is 24”.
- Jann (10/5): - N/A
- richard (8/5): - Older motel but clean. Pleasant owner, breakfast okay. It's what you would expect from the exterior.
- larry (8/5): - Not noisy!
Simple
Need a better breakfast.
Butter stale.
- Garry (10/5): - great service
- Thomas (8/5): - Was a decent place to stay for the price.
- Nina (4/5): - Good location; the rooms need to have lightbulbs and functioning outlets. The towel rack broke in our room and the tv was not functioning (or maybe we didn't know how to access - a written set of instructions could have helped. The interac was down and had to rush out to bank within a half hour of closing to pay in cash; total payment was incorrect and had to provide proof with the written account I had on hand. No functioning wifi for hotel guests
- Joseph (8/5): - Convienient
Economical
- Chris (2/5): - I booked 2 rooms for with a kitchenette for 4 days for 4 guys on a hunting trip.
Firstly, when we arrived they said they only had 1 room and it wasn't a kitchenette. They blamed Expedia, even though we had received confirmation of our bookings and provided the hotel with our itinerary and confirmation number from Expedia.
The following night we were given 2 kitchenettes but there were no utensils, bowls, plates, cups etc. Nothing in the room. We had to go buy our own ice and cups. One of the fridges had no handle and had to be opened with a screw. Carpets, bedding, etc were very old and way overdue for a cleaning or update!
Overall, we are a bunch of guys who aren't overly fussy where we stay when we go hunting but this was by far the worst of the worst.
- Martin (6/5): - A bed and four walls
- Michael (6/5): - The property is not set up in a way that would allow all occupants a place to park their vehicle, which is against building code. Design needs improvement. Don't place guests so close that they cannot even park their vehicle when you've got two pickups at 107 and like 103. Why not put me away from them?
Also, Free continental breakfast should be available now. A lot of places have gone the extra mile to make it happen regardless of COVID-19! And don't quote me 6:00 am - 9:00 am and then don't open til 6:45! But I like the guy here, he's really friendly, I just wish they would look after their guests a little more than they do.
Take some fertilizer and kill those plants growing out there as well. The place is infested with weeds!
Hey, the Consort Sunrise still offers the lowest rates in the province, $49/nt and he even includes a free Breakfast voucher for the nearby Esso! Why can't Grey Goose do something similar?
Overall, average room with fridge and microwave, TV.
The fridge has way too much ice build up inside the freezer. Shouldn't be over 1/8" inch of ice, let alone the 1/2" inch ice that's built up in there. That needs to be dealt with.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bathroom
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I like the cabinetry for the TV, fridge, and dresser drawers. Nicely laid out for a smaller space.
Fridge just didn't have the freezer compartment that many mini fridges do have nowadays. I use those to keep Cryopacks or Ice-packs froze so they can work each day to keep food and beverage at a safe storing temp for the day. I would bet you many who stay here work, so it would be an important feature to have and since Castor still does not have a Subway (Consort and Provost does), I'm most likely hauling food in.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - An old and tired motel but adequate for a night's stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not the cleanest or the greatest service, also the booking sight said breakfast included and the breakfast room was closed
- Mike075 (6/5): - Place had everything I could need such as a one-door fridge with a freezer shelf so I can keep ice packs froze. Microwave and coffee maker great.
Didn't have the handheld showerhead as pictured in the photos, I guess each room is different. Always a bummer when you look at the photos that had selling features of the room and they don't appear.
No free breakfast due to COVID-19. Guess what? Coronation Motel had breakfast! Consort Sunrise gives out coupon to gas station. Should lower room rate for that. I could stay in Coronation for $50 AND free breakfast plus everything I had in this room at Grey Goose. $75 w/o breakfast is a bit steep for what is available out here. Would've negotiated either give me the Kitchenette, which I can get in Coronation for $75, or lower rate to $65. Good thing Co-op sells a bunch of breakfast and lunch food.
Pillows are flat.
Nonetheless, an average room but for well above average price based on what else is available from Consort to Castor.
Not quite met my expectations but the room worked for me, but could have saved $25 by just moving 35 km closer to my work, and get free breakfast, which puts another $5-10 back in my pocket.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good little motel to stop in. However the type of room I booked, was not the type of room I got.
(We however checked in early and other rooms had not been cleaned yet so that is what was available)
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Arrived and there was no rooms for us. we booked on Expedia in advance. Staff was not helpful and unapologetic. Luckily Expedia was great and found us a new place.
- Joe (6/5): - It is the only motel in town. If you don't need to stay in Castor I would go to Killam or Hanna
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy to find location, with friendly staff.
Found the room cold, Heater was in bathroom, not main sleeping area. Beds were also (for my liking), pretty hard. But overall, half decent stay. Will most likely use again
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice staff at the front desk.......................
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was clean and the shower was great. Unfortunately the Continental breakfast was very minimal. I would stay there again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - As advertised. It was a fun place with a great location.
- Al (10/5): - Excellent staff. Very congenial and accomidating. Enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It's a small town motel. It's older but the heat works and the tv works :) the breakfast closes early but the front desk will let you in if you ask nicely after 9. The people are very nice and friendly and know all the inside around town.
- Jan (8/5): Small town hotel with very friendly staff. - We came in later in the evening and experienced no problem registering and getting into our room quickly. The beds were great and the room was clean.
