- Gabriela (10/5): - Der Service Etwas kalte Dusche

- Mary Stephanie (10/5): Peaceful, cozy countryside gem that made my solo birthday recharge near Seven Sisters feel truly special. - Saltmarsh Farmhouse was an absolute gem and the perfect place to recharge during my solo late birthday celebration. I loved everything about my stay…the cozy room, the beautiful gardens, the peaceful view of the garden, and the delicious breakfast each morning.
The location could not be better, especially being so close to Seven Sisters Country Park. It made it easy to enjoy the most beautiful walks and fully take in the surrounding landscape. The whole stay felt calm, restorative, and special.
I left feeling refreshed and grateful to have found such a lovely place. Saltmarsh Farmhouse is truly a hidden treasure, and I would absolutely love to return.
- Peter (9/5): If you want to explore this part of Sussex stay right here - Perfect location, friendly & efficient staff.
- Michael (9/5): Perfect location and very well looked after - Very friendly staff, clean tidy and comfortable. The location was perfect for what we wanted directly onto the South Downs Way
- Kim (10/5): - Was really pleased that we booked ourselves into the Saltmarsh Farmhouse. It's location for the Seven Sisters is spot on. As for the property, our room was clean, spacious and with comfortable beds and a super hot rain shower. Special mention to Emma and Olivia who looked after us. Who thought of the honesty bar has got to have a pat on the back 🤩 look forward to coming back soon Nothing
- Nick (9/5): Saltmarsh Farmhouse is a stunning property set in a fantastic location. - The property is set in a fantastic location right in the Seven Sisters Country Park. Its surrounding gardens are beautiful and there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy food and drink or just read a book. Sunday lunch and breakfasts were so good. Finally, Emma and all of the staff were so so attentive and made us feel really at home. Not so much a dislike but as it is a period property you can hear noise from other guests and creaking floorboards when you are trying not to make any noise!

- Susan (7/5): Fabulous location and a filling breakfast to start your Seven Sisters walk. - Fabulous location (for walking the Seven Sisters), super friendly staff and wonderful breakfast. The room was well appointed and the outdoor area is also really lovely. The blind in the room didn’t seem to work so we were woken pretty early and didn’t have much privacy (given our room overlooked the garden). There are no staff onsite overnight and we didn’t really want to have to call someone out to come and look at this.
The bar/lounge area wasn’t the most welcoming area so we didn’t really have anywhere we felt comfortable hanging out (still a bit too cold to sit outdoors for long).

- James (10/5): Terrific location, near Seven Sisters. Very friendly staff, great breakfast - Perfect location for Seven Sisters country park

- Andreas (9/5): Wunderschönes, gemütliches Hotel mit super Frühstück, tollen Gastgebern. Absolut empfehlenswert. - Sehr zuvorkommendes Personal, sehr familienfreundlich.
- Lynnette (10/5): - Beautiful location and room, the staff were lovely and attentive, and Emma and Paul were wonderful hosts. We felt comfortable, happy, warm and welcome from the moment we arrived. We would love to come back and we will certainly be reccomending Saltmarsh to friends and family. Truly, there was nothing we would change about our stay.

- Joe (10/5): Super convenient to Seven Sisters. Quiet and comfortable and delicious food. - We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Someone on the staff greeted us and showed us around and gave us tips for the following day. The grounds and lodgings were beautiful. The farm is adjacent to the Seven Sisters park and made hiking very convenient. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. nothing
- Judy (10/5): Intend to come back! - Breakfast was excellent - good choice, delicious and generous. The room was lovely - soft bed linen, comfortable beds, tea and coffee making etc with a lounge to use downstairs. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Perfect.
- Robert (2/5): We cut our stay short, stopping for one day instead of two because of the inadequacies. - The staff were very considerate and helpful. There was a serious mosquito problem. We counted between 15 and 20 through the night. The gauze curtains we were told would keep out mosquitos were inadequate and had a gap at bottom. We suffered a number of bites. The farmhouse is on a very busy road and the area was incredibly busy - over busy for the facilities. For the price, we expected a more spacious and better furnished room. It was cramped and tea/coffee placed under a rack for clothes. No rack for toiletries in the shower.
In the light of our experience - which may in part be due to special circumstances facing the property - we think that compensation would be appropriate.
- Jeremy (10/5): Wonderful stay with kind staff and great sightseeing nearby! - Thanks to its prime location near the visitor center and stunning sights, as well as the exceptional hospitality from the lovely staff, especially the kind and considerate Emma. A bit busy with many travelers eager to visit.
- George (9/5): - Lovely hotel, excellent food, very welcoming staff Nothing
- Janice (10/5): Excellent food, really relaxing. - Warm and welcoming. All the staff are friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our dog was welcomed too. Absolutely nothing.
- irfan (10/5): Great location, Amazing staff and service - Breakfast was amazing and service was exceptional. They took the time to work around us as my partner was unwell. Staff Could not do enough ! Bed and room was Very comfortable. Will visit again soon.
- Richard (10/5): - The comfort and clearness of the venue were excellent. Nothing
- beswick (9/5): great - lovely staff, excellent breakfast, brilliant location was hoping food available in evenings
- Ryan (10/5): - We booked for my wife’s birthday and weren’t disappointed. The hotel was perfectly located for our hiking trip, and the bus stop opposite was really handy for getting into Brighton.
All the staff were super friendly and helpful, and they even put together a little last-minute birthday surprise for my wife.
Our room was really comfy, nicely decorated and clean, with a lovely view over the garden.
Breakfast was excellent and we also really enjoyed the Sunday roast.
Would definitely come back.
Cheers Nothing, it’s great!
- Proch (10/5): A lovely stay to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Sussex countryside - The whole team led by Emma was absolutely adorable and so helpful throughout our stay. They were so very friendly with our old dog, providing treats and toys and the enclosed yard was a blessing. Amazing location so close to the cliffs with many wonderful walks right out the B&B. Breakfast and festive lunch were delicious as well.
- Sergii (10/5): -
- Nan (10/5): -
- Rene (9/5): I felt so comfortable I wanted to stay longer - I had my own Christmas tree tastefully decorated room for Christmas. The breakfast was delicious and bed and linen etc very clean and comfortable. All staff very friendly. Gated parking The only reason I marked down was the gin evening which I believe finished around 10.30pm was going on downstairs and I’d intended an early night. 10.30 isn’t late therefore only a slight mark down. (I was invited) therefore could have gained a point had I been in the mood.
- Alex (9/5): Great location, great food and comft beds. - Extremely comfy beds, great breakfast and very accommodating to dietary requirements Would have like the option of getting an evening meal and then you could enjoy the lounge area
- Carly (10/5): Gorgeous country stay right on the trails - Absolutely beautiful stay at the farmhouse. Such a sweet place. Team there lovely and incredibly accommodating, even with our late check in after we got excited and went straight to the pub. Interiors beautiful. Excellent location to head straight onto the trails.
- NOA (9/5): - Perfect location , comfortable clean room and kind stuff! Breakfast was delicious!! Sometime you have some noise from the cafe downstairs
- Amy (10/5): Amazing farmhouse in South Downs near path to sea - Amazing house and gardens near path to the sea N/A
- Pamela (9/5): Wonderful location, friendly staff, cosy place to stay, would recommend. - Staff were so friendly, the space and honesty bar and being able to light a fire was cool No option for an evening meal, however found East Dean and a fab pub just a 5 minute drive away
- Roderick (10/5): - Owner kindly picked us up from a late port arrival
- Jennifer (10/5): Beautifully appointed in a perfect location - Friendly team, delicious breakfast, beautiful room, super attention to our beagle and loved the honesty bar and residents only lounge. Nothing
- Jillian (10/5): A lovely and memorable experience! - Stunning location. Very comfortable and stylish room in a beautifully restored farmhouse. Friendly and helpful staff. We were lucky enough to be there on an evening when, unusually, dinner was also available and it was very very good. Nothing
- Suzie (5/5): A really disappointing experience for us. Not at all what we expected. Could be lovely but for us, it wasn’t. - The location is great for walking.
The bed was comfortable.
The team were fabulously friendly.
The breakfast was nice. Our room (in the eaves) is above the kitchen. It was very noisy for most of the day into late evening with kitchen prep and noise.
Also, the room was so hot even with the radiator off and a small window open. It constantly smelt of food.
The food was nice but not the constant smell of cooking.
We wanted a relaxing night away but due to an event being hosted - it was the complete opposite. We felt that the room shouldn’t have been offered given the noise from the kitchen and guests of the event. A really disappointing experience and complete waste of money - not at all the experience that was sold.
- NOA (9/5): - The stuff was amazingly helpful, breakfast was delicious and rich , the room was clean and very comfortable and the location! Right on the park and the forest and reachable with bus ! Sometimes you can hear the music and people from the cafe
- Eva (10/5): A perfect countryside escape with exceptional service, beautiful rooms, and unforgettable food. - Our stay at Saltmarsh Farmhouse was truly exceptional. Every detail was carefully considered, and the rooms were both beautiful and spotlessly clean. What really made our stay memorable, though, was Emma and her incredibly accommodating staff, who went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome and well taken care of. The roast lunch was sensational, and breakfast was equally delicious. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone.
- Darren (10/5): Total relaxation! - Friendly staff, great breakfasts and an UNBELIEVABLE location. There are 2 cafes and the Seven Sisters visitor centre within 30 steps from the door and walks to the beautiful Cuckmere Haven start just across the road.
- Deborah (10/5): What a great find, would return in a heartbeat. - Perfect location for walks on Seven Sisters National Park. Fabulous breakfast, great choice, cereal, fruit, pastries, hot breakfast and good coffee. Gorgeous suite with comfortable beds and beautiful linen. Staff were all fabulous.
- Frédéric (10/5): -
- Dianne H (9/5): See above - What did you like? - The owner and staff were friendly and efficient, with a cheerful willingness to provide advice on places to go and things to do. The farmhouse is located right across the road from the conservation area in Seven Sisters Park with a path leading to the water and the spectacular white cliffs. We walked out there as the sun was coming up and were the only people there to appreciate the vista. This was a wonderful place to stay in a beautiful, lightly visited area. Highly recommend. Nothing. We greatly enjoyed our stay here.
- Youngae (10/5): -
- Leonie (10/5): -
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Chris (9/5): Excellent - Courteous staff, especially Holly. Great facilities. Great location. Very minor points not worth mentioning.
- Alan (10/5): Comfortable and convenient location for exploring the local area. - Saltmarsh Farm was a definite destination for our mini break.
All of Emma’s staff couldn’t do enough for us.
The breakfast was outstanding. Super coffee too!
There was so much to do in the surrounding area. To top off our stay, we were treated to the magnificent spectacle of 5 Spitfires flying along Beachy Head.
Highly recommended.
- Andrea (9/5): - Mitten im Seven-Sisters- Naturpark gelegen. Sehr nettes Team und fantastisches Frühstück! Moskitos!
Könnte also etwas sorgfältiger gepflegt werden.
- Olga (10/5): Wonderful stay close to Seven Sisters - The most wonderful, cozy and rustic place. Very close to the Seven Sisters. Spotless. Parking is easy. Emma is the most welcoming and caring host. The full English breakfast was superb. Even our poodles received cozy blankets and welcoming cookies. We will definitely stay there again!
- Michael (9/5): A divine cottage in a superlative location with a great breakfast and such friendly staff - Really characterful country cottage in a superlative location with lovely cottage gardens to explore and relax in. The standard of service was really exceptional and the breakfasts absolutely first rate. The room service didn’t match the rest of the experience with tea and coffee not topped up and dirty towels which we left in the shower as requested not removed.
Kleine badkamer.
- Sven (9/5): -
- Tatiana (10/5): Beautiful romantic weekend with some of the country’s best walks on the doorstep - Excellent choice of cooked breakfast options with delicious yoghurt and seasonal fruit also available. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Excellent location. Rooms with a personal touch - I appreciated expertly arranged fresh flowers in our room!
- Clare (10/5): Awesome - Awesome location, lovely property with heaps of activities nearby. We will come again It would have been good to have some insect spray to deal with the mosquitoes that found their way into the rooms
- Patrick (10/5): -
- Jennet (10/5): Excellent stay - Excellent position
Very helpful staff
Lovely breakfast
- TinaAB (9/5): Great B&B - Wonderful setting, garden, breakfast, shower and all staff. My mattress was uncomfortable.
The room was quite small, as expected. However, it needed somewhere to keep the milk for the tea/coffee, in the warm weather.
- Johan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angus (8/5): Relaxing stay - -friendly staff and host Emma could not do enough to help
- excellent breakfast
- beautiful converted farmhouse property in great location
- we would definitely stay again but would choose a different room - for the price paid, our room “under the eaves” was too small
- Mads (9/5): Superb -
- Eng (7/5): The farmhouse experience - The location is great, and the staff are helpful and friendly from check-in to check-out. Insects can be an issue at night during the summer, so it’s best to keep the window closed or make sure it has a proper screen.
- MicheleA8888 (10/5): A very special place to stay - We were travelling to South Hampton and decided to visit this area to see the Seven Sisters. The Saltmarsh Farm came up as a suggestion and we were very happy to have spent two nights here. The small hotel consisting of about 6 rooms is situated in the national park but no problem as it is very quiet at night although busy during the day as they have a gorgeous little café providing lunch and tea as part of the hotel. There is a walk directly from the hotel to the beach and cliffs which is very scenic. We visited some lovely villages all recommended by the helpful and efficient Emma who runs this beautifully restored farm house with care. All her staff are friendly and super helpful at all times. Breakfast is included and it is fresh and tasty. Emma made excellent suggestions for our evening meals and a visit to Vanessa Bells house which exceeded my exportations. We loved Alfriston and our dinner at The Wingrove restaurant was top class. I would highly recommend this hotel.
- Paul (8/5): Very much enjoyed our stay - perfect for our visit to Eastbourne tennis - Friendly, helpful welcome from staff. Clearly keen that you enjoyed your stay. The breakfast was very good, with good choice, and freshly prepared. Nice quiet location, with pleasant gardens, close to National Park and convenient for local buses to Eastbourne. Staff were all helpful and friendly, although you had to go looking for them at times when breakfasting. Good tea/coffee facility in room, although a few biscuits would have been a nice addition. Our room was a bit cramped, but adequate for our needs.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trek51537453608 (10/5): Unrivalled hospitality, highly, highly recommended! - Saltmarsh Farmhouse (SMF) couldn't be in a more idyllic location nestled within sight of the River Cuckmere & barely a stone's throw from the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs towering over the East Sussex beach below. It proved the perfect base for a fortnight's cycling trip to explore the wider area surrounding the Cuckmere Valley & embrace the joy of interaction with the spectacular landscape on offer. The trip was made especially more memorable by the quality of service provided at SMF. I couldn't have asked for a more accommodating host & cannot praise their care & attention highly enough, matched equally by the quality & comfort of the accomodation provided. SMF is a sympathetically renovated farmhouse retaining abundant charm & character including a cute horsebox restored as a bar & "koffee kiosk"! All in all a thoroughly memorable trip combining spectacular landscape with unrivalled hospitality, very many thanks indeed, Emil
- Susan (10/5): Great - Great location and facilities. Room was well set-up and comfortable. Lots of great walks near by. Service was fantastic, breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend it for a few days break. Nothing
- Anja (10/5): A true gem! Many thanks to Emma and her wonderful team! - Saltmarsh Farmhouse is a real gem! The old walls and the lush garden create a unique atmosphere of countrylife and long forgotten childhood memories... However, what makes the Farmhouse really vibrating with love and energy is Emma and her fantastic team! They are unbelievably kind, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed their hospitality so much including a delicious cooked breakfast every day, homemade cakes in the Cafe and even a 3-course-dinner in the romantic courtyard! We felt the love and attention in every detail including fresh flowers in the room and house! If this is not enough the Farmhouse is right at the middle of The Seven Sisters Countrypark and you can start all walks to the Cliffs and the Cuckmere River and Beach directly from here. In the evening when all the visitors have left, it`s also a very peaceful and calm place. Wonderful memories of our days in the Farmhouse will stay with us for a long time and we wouldn`t hesitate to come back! Thank you so much, Emma!
- Maria (10/5): Very nice indeed! - The walled garden, the breakfast, the honesty bar and the comfortable bed!
- Filippo (10/5): Wow. Wow. Wow. - The people, the location, the house, everything! great vegan options!
- suewhite43 (10/5): Super Stay - We had a super mini break here and highly recommend it. Emma and her team are first class and make sure that you have everything needed for your stay. The room we stayed in Under the Eves with our dog was super comfy and very clean with great facilities and a very comfortable bed. The breakfasts we had were second to none and very filling. Good location with plenty to do in the area.
- 53charlib (10/5): Wedding - We were here to provide the DJ service for a wedding. Emma and the staff were great, nothing was too much trouble. We were well looked after and had a tasty sandwich and tea to keep us going.
Lovely venue and pretty surroundings.
Thanks to Emma,Paul and team.
- corrines571 (10/5): Beautiful setting - Just attending a wedding at Saltmarsh Farmhouse. Beautiful setting with country ambience. Very well organised by the staff who were polite and friendly but also professional without being stuffy. The wedding was held in the afternoon through to the evening for a party of approx. 50 people. The entire wedding from welcome drinks, the ceremony, the wedding breakfast and evening reception was held outside and for each part of the wedding day above we were moved with ease to the gardens where we could play croquet, very quaint English. Food was exceptional but does depend on your personal taste. I could only offer two criticisms in that unfortunately there is only one toilet in their Café area and that although the marque was was lovely and we did have patio heaters ideally it would have been nice if it had closed sides. However the wedding was in May and we were blessed with a gorgeous day but the evening was chilly. More heaters ideally needed and whilst they offered a variety of alcohol the choice of spirits was very limited. I would recommend
- Jenny (9/5): This is a brilliant place for a weekend break with great walks and charming villages to explore - The whole building is charming, has great character and is brilliantly placed for the nature and walks in the South Downs. The staff were really helpful and kind. The room was a little small but very charming and comfortable.
- LindaL1234 (10/5): We will Definitely Return! - The staff were wonderful, the beds were comfy and the coffee was excellent! So peaceful! We loved the breakfast as well! Would not hesitate to book this again!🇨🇦🇨🇦 Step out your door and experience the beautiful Seven Sisters hike! Staying at the Saltmarsh was like immersing yourself into English Countryside. ❤️❤️❤️
- Dominic (10/5): Exceptional -
- Llanyon1 (10/5): Wonderful time! - The staff were wonderful, the beds were comfy and the coffee was excellent! So peaceful! We loved the breakfast as well! Would not hesitate to book this again!🇨🇦🇨🇦
- Irene (9/5): A truly lovely property. - The staff was welcoming and kind. It is a beautiful property and perfect for exploring the national park. Food is good too.
- GEZZA2019 (10/5): What a place ! - The warm welcome by Emma and her four legged friends, coffee in the garden served by Laura, delicious breakfast (the best rhubarb compote) , the grounds, the peace, the room, what a place. It exceeded our expectations and we didn’t want to leave so much so we’ve cancelled another trip to return to Saltmarsh. Thank you for a fabulous stay
- S1450IAemmas (10/5): Dream place - Emma and the team are super welcoming and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. From the comfy beds, to the beautiful garden, to the delicious breakfasts, we can't recommend this fantastic place enough. Plus there are the most amazing views and walks right on the door step.
- David (10/5): Tranquility within an hour of London. Perfect combination of informality and comfort. Well done Emma and the team! - Friendly staff and proximity to the nature trails and the sea.
Cakes in the shop were delicious and dinner was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Hard to find fault.
- Smiti (7/5): Good -
- HowardK182 (10/5): Great rustic boutique break! - Whilst a busy sunny April weekend for the onsite cafe and car park, arrived to find farmhouse guests have a secret garden to escape to and a guest lounge with an honesty bar on top of excellent friendly service from lovely staff.
Lunch arranged rapidly with specials on every day's menus....yummy whatever your appetite and taste!
Made to feel very welcome with a warm cottage-like feel about the place and delightful finishing of room decor. Rooms not huge but great for a short stay and Alfriston up the road for further tasty food offerings .....would recommend a stay.
- Brucoraimondo19 (10/5): This is it! - I thought Paradise was a fictional space until I found this place! I loved staying here. It is a beautiful B&B run in the most exquisite way by really competent, warm, beautiful humans- and it is perfectly located for the most stunning walks.
Breakfast is divine, and there are amazing paintings everywhere you look. You are surrounded by beauty inside the house and outside the house- so if you need some proper healing from the everyday grind, look no further: this is the spot.
- Gary (9/5): Will definitely stay there again if passing.thankyou all - Clean and comfortable and helpful staff, great location and the breakfast was excellent.

The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were lovely. The location was amazing. Don’t have anything but good things to say. We will be back!
- salena_t_r2022 (10/5): A wonderful stay - Our stay at saltmarsh was perfect. Emma was so so helpful with everything and so friendly as was all of the staff. The room had a beautiful view of the garden and the water and it was clean, well decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast included was great and it was so nice to have fresh fruit. This is the perfect place to stay when visiting seven sisters. So close to the park and such a peaceful oasis. Highly recommend, gives you more time to enjoy seven sisters and less rushing if you were to just go for the day.
