Guest Reviews
- Jeanette (6/5): - Very small rooms. Seemed cleaned bur dinghy looking. Could hear tv and people talking in rooms next door. Unappealing surroundings. Thankfully we were only there to sleep, bed was comfortable
- Shannon (10/5): - Very nice room, more like a studio apartment. Large, comfortable bed, full size fridge, clean. Shower was a little small, but does its job. Highly, HIGHLY recommend for the price.
- Chris (10/5): - What an amazing place! Family was kind when we checked in and only for 70 bucks absolutely amazing! Will definitely go again when I’m in town!
- jane (8/5): Convenience at a Good Price - Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Everything expected in a motel room was there. Price was wonderful!
- Ignacio (10/5): - Great service. No odors in rooms or broken toilets. Full size fridge
- Sharon (10/5): - Good place to stay for the money
- dave (8/5): - Young couple runs they place. They were super helpful and friendly!
- Scott (8/5): - The place is a work in progress. The room was evidence of that. Nice, clean, and has nice amenities. The rest of the place is being worked on will be better when finished. Ask to see the room you'll be pleasantly surprised. You can't beat it for the price.
- Michael (6/5): - It was ok hot shower clean sheets
- Francesca (10/5): Remodeled and inexpensive luxury - This hotel was a great price, the lighted mirror was perfection for puttting on makeup. full length mirror for your fit check. Bed were so comfortable. AC works great! Room was so nice. Pool and hot tub looked brand new and was the perfect addition to our stay!
- Susan (8/5): Clean place to crash - Looking for a reasonably priced room to crash afrer a day of site seeing, this works!
- jerry (6/5): - The place is ok if looking for a cheap room
The water would not heat up so I could take a shower in the morning.
- Eugene (8/5): - good
- Amy (8/5): - Room was very clean, updated, and pleasant.
- Laurie (4/5): - This is a very inexpensive hotel. Do not expect a lot. Did not seem very secure. Had to look at three rooms before finding one that was okay for one night. Room was heated with a free standing space heater which did not feel safe. Staff did not speak English but she used an app to translate effectively. Recommend you turn down the covers before you commit to a room.
- bhadraiah (8/5): - All amenities required for a comfortable stay were available in the room; amenities such as TV, Fridge, Coffee maker, Microwave. Bed was comfortable for a sound sleep.
- tomasz (10/5): - Very big and clean room 🙂
- Melissa (8/5): - It ended way better after we got help to fix fridge the housekeeper was great and super helpful ..... we had privacy but they did answer any concerns and calls we had would def go again its great simple and comfortable place to stay!!!
- Seretha (8/5): Good Management - We traveled to Wisconsin for my son’s graduation and wanted to book a reasonable room. My mother accidentally booked a room across the street at the TriState Wood Inn. Luckily it was the same management and she was very accommodating and allowed us to both stay at the same location next door to one another. The room she gave me was bigger and better than the room I paid for. Quiet Location with Pleasant hard working staff!
- jacqueline (6/5): - Property under huge construction. Room was ok. Extremely hot water in shower be careful!
- Jen (2/5): - We had a late check in due to an event which the hotel confirmed. There waant a front desk, a person, or anywhere to checkin. No one answered their phone. We had tontravel back to the city to find anothet hotel
- Kenneth (6/5): I would stay again - Decor was really nice rustic wood theme. Building is showing it's age the front door has a decent gap on the bottom and the ac unit isn't sealed so there will be drafts in the winter. Really needs new carpet. Had a smart TV but the Internet was inadequate for it to work properly and a broadcast antenna wasn't hooked up. Had a nice little kitchenette area with a sink and microwave with plenty of counter space larger mini fridge. The bed clothes were really nice. With a little work would be an awesome place.
- Christopher (8/5): - Bed & pillows super comfy
Front door couldnt lock from outside
TV didnt work.
- Marie (6/5): Once was enough - It was just ok. We couldn’t get tv to work. We did not take a shower since it was dirty. There is an opening above a/c unit so birds outside where extremely loud. The refrigerator was not plugged in. Front desk did not speak English so we did not point out nor make any comments.
- Alexander (10/5): - Loved the balcony and the view. Although at level with the ground, great touch to a small town.
- Barrett (4/5): - Would not come back
- pedro (10/5): - the best experience 🙏
- calvin (4/5): - The shower was dirty, my wife would not use. bathroom light flickered on and off all night long. Walls were thin and neighbors were loud. Door had been kicked in and not repaired properly. made me feel unsafe
- Melissa (8/5): - Dont let the outside disaude you...the rooms are clean and cute albeit small. The staff are courteous and friendly but there were some small language barriers. The beds are comfy. Quick warning the bathrooms are tiny but as long as you are just there for a few nights the cost balances any small inconvinces .
- Mike (6/5): - Good place to stay for the price. Old but clean.
- Jody (6/5): Motel Needs Upgrades - The rooms are being renovated. In spite of that, the room, especially the bathroom is very small. The refrigerator and microwave were not operable. No deadbolt on the entry door and the patio door was difficult to keep locked.
- Jonathan (6/5): - Ok place.
- Libbey (2/5): - The room was left open with keys inside. It did not make us feel secure. The back glass door was difficult to lock and was not secure. The room was unclean. There was hair and large stains on the sheets and bedding. We had to sleep out side of the covers. The air conditioning was very loud and did not work well. Overall the stay left us tired and stressed. Pictures can be provided to verify the room. Thank you!
- Michelle (8/5): - Quaint hotel that was recently remodeled. No frills but really clean and friendly staff
- Erin (8/5): - Nothing fancy but much better than expected for the price. I've definitely stayed in worse for more money. I have fairly low expectations when staying at inexpensive motels but the one thing I refuse to compromise on regardless of price is cleanliness. What's expected as an absolute bare minimum, and I think it was quite clean and smelled nice. I would stay there again whenever I'm in the area.
If I was to make one critique it's that we had 2 full sized bath towels between 3 people and 1 tiny bottle of both shampoo and conditioner.
Prehaps I could have requested more but I was only staying for one night so I didn't want to bother with it.
- Kristy (8/5): Great little motel! - The owner was very pleasant. The room was nice and clean, the towels were beautifully displayed, everything was tidy. There was some road noise, but not bad and the shower left something to be desired - dated and a little weird. Great place for the price! Would recommend if you're on a budget and want to know the owner cares about the place.
- Paul (6/5): - Small room. Room was nothing like advertisement.. Door did not fit properly.
- Sheila (4/5): - The mattress was pee stained, just nasty. Pillows unusable! Would not recommend this place 😳
- Verified traveler (8/5): Budget Friendly Option - Great Owners - Budget Friendly - Clean and Neat rooms. Enjoyed the stay. The bed was on the soft side for me, but I like a firm bed. Planning on staying again next time we are in the area.
- Jessica (8/5): - Our room was very comfortable and had a patio with a gorgeous view out the back. There were very sweet 'extra touches' that made it lovely. The tv was Netflix, Hulu, etc. compatible so we could log in and use our own account. The staff was very kind, friendly, and helpful, attentive, and accomodating.
- Paul (8/5): - Old and run down, but very nice people. Fine for a night.
- Danny (6/5): - Comfortable bed and clean room. Overall property is not visually pleasing.
- Jim (8/5): Stay at Wisconsin woods Inn. - Fine, they need to learn a little more English.
- sam (10/5): - Very reasonable and clean
- sam (10/5): - Owners very easy to work with when we wanted to extend our stay
- Tileda (10/5): - It is quiet and cozy and the staff is amazing.
Reasonably priced to top it all off and conveniently located off hwy 61
- Brent (2/5): - No soap. Horrible bathroom and shower.
- Char (8/5): - Was nice for the price. Nicer than expected.
- Shawn (6/5): -
wifi substandard, no working tv stations.
- Craig (10/5): - Check in was fine they called the day before and said the cable was not working. Might be fixed or I could cancel. Well I’m one day out and I don’t want to cancel so it will be fine. Well open the room it’s small okay no big deal, but the tv not even plugged in. A/c not on so it’s hot and the fridge was hot as well so glad I didn’t have food to put in right away as I’m spending 4 nights. Get fridge to turn on after having to find a plug for it to plug in. Well I plugged in tv to now and won’t even turn on. I thought the cable didn’t work, I said nothing just stayed there because I’m only sleeping there after all. I would not recommend staying here. I don’t know I was supposed to leave my door unlocked to get a clean towel not that it matters it’s just an extra point to say. I left on Wednesday early am I knew this so asked if I should lock key in room they said no just leave it unlocked with key in it so maybe that’s how you get clean towel. I will never stay there again I’ll just stay in Platteville
- Travis (10/5): - Great location, affordable prices, quick check in and staff was friendly. My room was the right temperature upon my arrival. This is a convenient hotel that I will definitely stay in again.
- Laurie (8/5): - Room was very clean. Yes, a bit outdated but i dont care one bit about that if its clean. VERY clean.
Pretty good sized gap under door but weather was fine so no problem. We did not experience noise like some reviews said but i can see how it COULD be noisy if a bunch of workers were staying there. Our experience was good and I would stay there again.
- Cherish (2/5): - We did not stay- Our room had no heat so we left to and went to another town.
- O7653HFjank (2/5): Worst motel we've e ever stayed in! - Would not ever stay at this motel again! First, we had to call to check in with a reservation. We could see a man inside the "office" (messy) who finally came to let us in to check in. We then got into a freezing cold room but the furnace heated up after an hour or so. The remote for the TV was missing. A gal brought us a new one which didn't work. The man in the office had said the door was unlocked and a key was inside. It wasn't and the lock wasn't functional. Got the guy to see it and he said he could fix it. He NEVER came back! My engineer husband rigged up a safe solution. The walkway and parking lot were ice covered and slippery, a lawsuit waiting to happen. There was junk all over and even a booze bottle left outside our door. We only stayed overnight because the sheets and bathroom were clean.
- 20jd (4/5): Was Ok. - We went to check in and the office was closed with a phone number. We called the numbers and left messages. It was a freezing cold windy day and had to wait. A car pulled up and tried to call too. They thought the motel across the street might have been part of this motel since the name changed. They went across to check it out. They came back and had a man on the phone. We were told our rooms were NOT at this motel but the one across the street. Keys in the room, door unlocked. We got to the room and the cleaning gal was still there and no keys. We had to call since the gal did not speak English. We got the man on the phone and was told she will bring keys. While we waited, we turned up the heat. She brought the keys and we found the heat was not working. Again, we called the number. She also went to tell him. He told her the air conditioner was also a heater (window). We did not see anything for heat, only air. Again we had to call. The man said she will bring a space heater. She brought one. We tried to turn it on. It did not work. Again, another call to the man. He said she will bring another one by. We made her wait while to confirmed that this one worked. We left it on all night. The room was clean. We had to unplug the air conditioner unit to plug in the refrigerator. We left and had to leave the space heater on. When we got back, the room was warm. We left the heater on all night. We agreed we were thankful we checked in early since there were all these issues. The room was double the price that weekend since the university was having a family weekend. It definitely was not worth the doubled price. We also did not shower since the heat wasn't really in the bathroom. We were only staying 1 night and heading home early the next day. We only ever saw the gal and left the keys in a key slot by the office across the street.
- Lori (2/5): - It was scarey and horrible. Had to stay at Tri-state Inn after traveling 3 hours and finding out the Wisconsin wood inn had a problem and they had us at there other motel. It was like being in Schitts creek. Bathroom was spot cleaned, carpet dirty, room temp was so hot, had an open pipe in the room, over plugged outlet. And room was open when we got there. Heard other guests up and around at 3 am. Other room we had the bathroom was like a locker room shower and kid toliet. Not what the pictures showed and have to say not worth 62$. Should of been free. Heard a Meth Lab was reason for fire at Wisconsin Wood Inn and I would believe it. Sad to say you can not stay somewhere nice when visiting family.
- Elton (4/5): - No one was there to greet us, we had to call a number so someone could tell us the key was in the room. Then in the morning they just said drop the key in the box so we did not know if we needed to pay them for the room or not. I called them and told them if we owe them the $65 I would mail them the money and I have not heard back from them so I’m not sure if Expedia paid the bill or not. We will never go back there again.
- Tom (6/5): - Slow drains in shower and sink.
TV only one station.
Office was freezing cold and very dark.
- Diane (4/5): - Very outdated place. TV/internet not working. Staff friendly but there was a language barrier and she had to call someone to verify I had a room. She took a copy of my drivers license and wrote all numbers on the back of my charge on the same paper and just left sitting out on counter. Tried to explain didn’t like my info laying out. VERY unsettling!
- Thom (10/5): - Older facility but very clean and functional.
- canice (2/5): - Awful. Bait and switch. Booked the Wisconsin Wood Inn, which looked great, and was put into the Tri State Wood Inn across the street. Gross. Moldy fridge. Extremely loud heater. So much potential, but just a dump.
- Brian (6/5): - No reception people
Call a number
- Chad (6/5): This place would be nice after renovation. - Overall, we were let down by our stay.
No one was at the reception desk, but they did leave a number to call for service. The direction on how to get into the room were not accurate at first, but they texted the correction.
The day was 100 degrees with heat index and the humidity was so thick you could see it in the air; and the rooms air conditioner was off when we got there. The place was muggy and stank like a dirt old ashtray at a grungy pub.
The room was mostly clean but the carpet needs to be removed. There was an odd ceiling shower head and the drain was mostly plugged. Even after cleaning out the tubs strainer, the water still did not move fast enough to keep it from filling up. The no-slip mat was very old and gross.
Because of the extreme humidity in the room, a lot of allergens from the room (old carpet, old mattress, old pillows) stuck in the air causing us to get serious allergy symptoms.
The location of the motel is ok. The town is quaint and has some good restaurants and a neat sculpture garden by a church.
- Lisa M (6/5): - No one was around for check in and had to call to be told what room # and that it was unlocked and the key was in the room. There was no key and had to call again to get them to bring us a key. The newly remodeled room I reserved on Expedia was not the room I got. The mattresses on the beds seemed new but everything else in the room was old, rundown and I'm guessing from the 60's. No phone, no clock, no housekeeping to call for extra towels, etc. For our two night stay we got 2 bath towels, one hand towel and one wash cloth. A bunch o construction guys were living there and had a small gas grill right outside our door that they used regularly and never cleaned up. Grease all over the ground under it that attracted flies. Every morning we had to walk over the cans they left all over. Don't waste your money, drive the 10 extra miles to Dubuque or Platteville.
- Mickey (2/5): - Upon arrival the office was closed. After calling the attendant we were given a room that was occupied. At 1 am this could be dangerous for both parties. After complaining to Orbitz and Orbitz calling the attendant Javier he accused me of being drunk. The Orbitz rep then blatantly asked if I was drunk. Javier was asleep when I called and tried playing his mistake off on me. Beyond that there was only one bed and was supposed to be two. I do not like having my room unlocked upon arrival as it was. Javier has yet to correct any of this.
- Steph (2/5): - We did not stay, the room was not safe, the carriers were filthy and sticky. The bathroom shower was unsafe. The door was not sturdy, the door knob had holes all around. Had to come back twice to check in, then still done by phone. The pictures are completely false. You should remove this property from your listing.
- Daniel (10/5): Nothing fancy, but works great - Good experience, no frills hotel that worked for what we needed.
- Dr. Les (8/5): - Very limited communication. Clean and value were very good.
- 927donalds (8/5): Great Price/Poor First Impression - The Wisconsin Wood Inn is a small, very affordable motel which also includes the motel across the street, so it is disconcerting to have to drive to another building the highway. The owner/manager said they are consolidating and changing the name. But once we got to our room it was very nice. There was a fridge, microwave and mini Keurig. There was also 2 chairs to sit on a small patio outside the door. The two ladies that were there to check us in did not speak English, so we couldn't really ask them any questions.
- Rolland (6/5): - Refrigerator in room did not work.
- Steven (8/5): - Pleasant enough stay. Limited on-site staff.
- DARLA (6/5): - Clearly was under construction. No full time staff present. No hot water in the BR sink. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. Overall satisfied as the price was very affordable compared to alternatives.
- Robin (6/5): - I like the surroundings and the bed was very comfortable with many pillows! Shower was outdated and the panel on the entrance door to the hotel room was coming out! The door handle to the room was very loose.
- Angelica (8/5): - You pretty much get what you pay for. That's not necessarily bad, but this definitely isn't fancy. And the property itself was pretty messy with all the construction that seems to be going on. We were a little sketched-out on our first night, as when we arrived no one was around to check us in and the number at the door kept going to voicemail. Eventually a guy came out from the back and checked us in. He was nice enough, but the first room he took us to the lock was broken and we were moved to different room (the lock of which was also tricky). The rooms were pretty small, but appeared mostly clean and the bedding was changed daily.
There was a leak somehow in the bathroom that kept letting puddles of water onto the floor, even when we hadn't run the shower, toilet, or sink all day.
Nice view behind the room, which we were able to enjoy from the patio connected to the room. And we really loved being able to open the screen door in the morning and let fresh air in without having people walking by.
Rooms were pretty sound-proof and we never had an issue with hearing our neighbors. Overall pretty good experience. We didn't spend much time at the motel itself, only coming back for the night. So if you plan to have a similar schedule and are on a budget it's a good choice.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not worth the price - No one was around to check us in at 315pm. The office was wide open though. Called the number and the agent said he was in the area and would be back, our room was open with the key in it. We had enough time to drop our bags and leave for a family commitment. The agent arrived as we were pulling out and got my card and ID delaying us. When we returned in the evening the room smelled of pot, we found an empty vodka bottle in the cabinet instead of spare TP, the towels were rolled up nicely but upon unrolling they were filthy and black in spots-more than half of the towel. There was hair on the walls of the shower stall and there were no toiletries despite it being advertised as such.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - No internet, the hot water takes longer to change
- Verified traveler (8/5): Economical place to stay - The stay was fine for a lower cost motel. There was some odor to the room like a fragrance of some sort. It was clean except possible mold noticed at the end of our stay. Being right on the highway, you could hear the road noise. Overall we were satisfied with the stay for the cost.
- Gail (10/5): - I plan on staying in everytime I travel to Wisconsin
- Deanna (10/5): - For the money the room was amazing. You can tell the owners are updating things. Bed was great.
- Kurt (8/5): - I love the small classic motels! This one had a very clean room and comfortable beds! The lobby contained cabinets and sinks that are to be installed into rooms and outside the lobby were construction materials which made it look junky. I am hoping that the owners are renovating so they can compete with the chains. I would definitely stay here again to support their mission!
- Lori (4/5): - No hot water and they are remodeling
- timheller1 (2/5): Bait & Switch - We reserved a room 5 days in advance at this inn expecting the "wonderful hidden gem" advertised on their website and in reviews. On arrival at 6:15pm it looked quaint.
That was the "bait". Granted at $74/nt. My expectations were pretty low.
The "switch" occurred when we were told our room our room was across the street at the "Plaza Motel."
When I drove across the street, I found a dilapidated roach motel with plywood in the windows, overflowing trash in the parking lot. And to make it soo much better, our room was occupied. I've seen some seedy roadside motels, but this one, I suspect offers rooms at hourly or half-hour rates. It looked like something our of slasher film or a documentary on drug induced prostitution.
I went back across the street to the Bait to discuss this. I told the desk clerk that this was unacceptable. She summoned an individual (manager or owner) who was a bedraggles man in a wife-beater. He explained that our room was given to someone else who arrived earlier and we had been moved to the "accommodations" across the street. I explained that this was unacceptable and that I had reservations. He promptly provided a refund, but that left us without a room for the night in an area that was "sold out".
NEVER EVER BOOK A ROOM HERE!!!!
- scottkC9336RU (4/5): Needs updating - While it appears that they are working on updating the place, some rooms are still in the 70's. We happened to get one of those rooms. It had really old carpeting. The couch was also old. One of the windows wouldn't close. The TV was a 19" tube TV. It did have a lovely blue tub and sink...
- Joseph (8/5): Decent respectable motel for the money - Affordable no frills motel. Perfect for singles working on near by job sites or for hunters and fishermen in season. Staff was friendly. Close to Dubuque Galena and other activities. ATV off road trails surround the area.
- Merle (4/5): - Smelled. Refrigerator wasn’t on, so couldn’t use right away. Shower floor wasn’t fit to step into. Found bugs in bed.
- kevin (6/5): - My wife had bad car accident, in Sheboygan, and I stopped at hotel at 3:00 pm to cancel reservation, didn't stay, didn't check in
- Verified traveler (4/5): rooms need lots of tlc - the refrig was turned off when I arrived i didnt realize it wasnt working so I had to throw away lots of food thin walls we could hear talking in room next door until well after midnight .
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Able to have two rooms.
Advertising didn't come near matching reality.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean. High numbered rooms very close to highway. No soap or shampoo.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Was close to where I needed to be. Bed was comfortable.
- LH (6/5): - Good location for our visit. quaint older motel (mom & pop) No attention to ammenities, coffee pot provided, but no fixings. Room was only visited by cleaning staff one morning (out of 3) and only trash was serviced
- Joy (4/5): - Check in fine.Staff wouldn't answer the locked door at 5 pm! No phones no ice no shampoo tv not working fridge and microwave unplugged. its a joke.to bad could be an ok place. Had no choice but to stay we were on a motorcycle and no other places to stay. Had to ride with a bag of ice between us.👎
- bafitz (10/5): Wonderful hidden gem - I am from Dickeyville and returned to visit family. We decided instead of paying well over $100 per night at hotels in Dubuque and Platteville we would stay at the Wisconsin Wood Inn in Dickeyville for $66/night. What a pleasant surprise! The room was very clean, the king size bed very comfortable and the owner/staff were very friendly. The rooms have small refrigerators and a microwave as well. What more do you need? It was nice not paying for amenities that we never used. I highly recommend this hidden gem located in a hidden gem called Dickeyville! We will be back!
- Amb (2/5): - They were supposedly booked full even though I had reserved a room a week in advance. They then tried putting us in a room that was like a garage converted to a room to sleep in. The door had a 3-4 inch gap on the bottom to the outside, the bathroom was dirty and I can't even explain how they put it together. A propane tank was in there hooked up to burners on a counter. This room was definitely breaking many code violations and I can't believe they would risk their business by trying to out someone in here. Ask for room number 8 and see for yourself. We wished we had taken pictures.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
I thought everything was clean, and I work as a housekeeper at a high end hotel. the baseboard heaters are uncontrollable and they have space heaters to make it warm, but you can understand they are working hard and trying to save every penny they can.
- Kevin (6/5): OK--but needs improvement - The temperature of the room was cold when I arrive. I called the office and a portable heater was provided which solved the problem. No one was in the office and all transactions were done with management over the phone.
- Joe (8/5): - It served the purpose I needed. The check in lady was very nice.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Was not very happy with the place for what I paid:(
- Mitchel L (6/5): heat and water - no heat or very little heat. we got up to leave and we had no hot water and a friend that stayed in a different room woke up to no water at all, other than that the rooms were clean.
- RED (2/5): - We liked nothing about it, the room was freezing, no way to adjust heat, the attendant didn't speak clear English, the blankets and comforter were for summer, not winter, I ended up getting blankets out of my car and we sleep in layers of clothes. The Inn is very noisy, could hear people all around us. Nothing in the area to get something to eat or drink. My husband took a COLD shower in the morning, and mine was lukewarm. Would NOT recommend this Inn to anyone!!!!!!
