Guest Reviews
- Patrick (10/5): - Everything was clean and spotless - room and public spaces. We were always greeted by staff when moving around the building.
The food and service from the Laurel was also excellent. My only complaint was that one of my beverages didn't taste good. The White Russion drink was made with something other than Kahlua. The substitute was horrible tasting. However, the hostess did not charge me for that drink.
- Eric (10/5): - Cute little well cared for Hotel with friendly and kind staff! Beautiful rooms too.
- Douglas (10/5): - Enjoyed dinner the night of our stay. Food and service were very good. Room was good and bed was comfortable. Although we had no issue with the stairs to our room, it’s certainly possible that some guests might face difficulty climbing the 20 steps.
- Francesca (4/5): - The room was full of dust/ no coffee cups
- JAMES (10/5): - Nice boutique hotel downtown La Grande. Great restaurant. Nice room and great stop for us.
- Dean (10/5): - The room is clean, the staff was very accommodating.
- Lynn (4/5): - Cute room in a unique setting, which I enjoyed. But there was a big dark streak on the duvet cover and a rust ring in the toilet. Pretty clunky window AC unit. Would’ve expected a bit more for the price.
- Brenda (10/5): - This was a really cool building that has been renovated and historically preserved. They thought of so many little details to make folks comfy. Our room was spacious and clean. We loved the decor. It’s a really old building so floors creak. Although there was no breakfast there is a cute coffee / breakfast place right across the street.
- philip (10/5): - You have to negotiate a set of stairs, but well worth it. A very cool place to stay
- Michael (10/5): - I would stay again! Beautiful place. Great bed. A real boutique of a hotel. AC struggled and floors creek since it is a historic property. But probably my favorite stay so far on our trip.
- Barbara (10/5): - Would stay here again
- Chester (10/5): - This charming small property only has five guest rooms. We had dinner at the on-site restaurant, which is only open three hours each evening. The food was excellent! 👌
This hotel is more expensive than other local options, but is well worth it!
- Tammy (10/5): - We love the property, but many of the surrounding businesses/stores were only open a few days a week or were entirely closed.
- vance (6/5): - historical value of the place was cool. It was noisy with the traffic ,trains and the upstairs. the bar and dining could be expanded
- Brian (6/5): - I was very noisy.
- Laura Lee (8/5): Historical stay - Staff was very nice; rooms clean and bed comfortable; 2 bedroom has one small
Shower, but it was adequate; historical building made it special.
- sara (8/5): - Quaint.
- Michael (10/5): - The Landing was perfect for our quick weekend in La Grande. The hotel staff was amazing, and the rooms were spacious and clean. Checking in and checking out was fast and easy. The building is on the older side, but it the spaces were incredibly clean and cozy. My wife and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
- Ronald (10/5): - Great place. Restaurant/bar open second half of week is wonderful. Only place like it in the area
- Kathleen (10/5): - Super cute and cozy!
- Douglas (10/5): - Easy access to property and room. Excellent host/hostess private party accommodations, food, drinks, and staff!
- Kevin (10/5): - The Landing is a wonderful boutique hotel on the main street in La Grande. The bar/resteraunt was tastefully decorated and the staff was freindly and the food was excellent. We would stay at the Landing again.
- Patricia (10/5): - !!
- Guillermo (10/5): - It was an amazing place. More than what I was expecting and such a unique experience. Would definitely stay here again if I ever had a reason to come back to this town.
- Grace (8/5): - It was nice and clean - felt safe
- Jennifer (8/5): - Good stay.
Love the old home.
Was very comfortable
I was to travel with my boss which they weren’t able to make it but would have worked for us. Bathroom is a tight fit.
Bed was super comfortable
- Timothy (10/5): - Spent 1 night and enjoyed the historic feel of the property. Had a wonderful dinner and fantastic cocktails in their dining room.
- Donald (10/5): - Friendly staff and very accommodating
- jane (10/5): - Excellent Food, Room everything. Only issue was heat was way too hot. Would be nice to have humidifier.
- Hilary (10/5): - Great vibe!
- joshua (6/5): - It’s a cozy little hotel. The dinning staff was great. The menu and food is good.
The room is bland. The bed was comfortable however the pillows could have been better.
Low quality and flat.
The building is old (125 years /-) they are still using the radiator heaters in the room for heat and are extremely noisy when the kick on.
There is a tree outside the corner of the building that was rubbing on the siding and windows all nights with the wind blowing.
Over all nice place but needs to update the heating situation and add some rugs and tapestries to help reduce the noise in such an old building.
A quick tree trim would get rid of the wind blown noise.
- Paul (10/5): - Loved our stay !!
- Janice (10/5): - It was quiet and relaxing. The bed was comfortable. The radiator heater was much quieter than a standard motel heater. It would be nice to have a microwave and fridge.
- Gingermay (8/5): - Cute place. Loved the vibe. A bit noisy, but overall a good choice.
- Richard (10/5): - What a quaint well maintained hotel, I was apprehensive of the quality when I realized I’d booked an antique house that was a hotel & restaurant, but this adorable, classy place was well beyond my expectations & I definitely would come back to this very town just to stay here again. This is definitely a gem.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really great place. Clean, friendly staff, quiet. Second time staying here and I’ll be staying here again for sure.
- Thomas (8/5): - To the property owners- feel free to delete this review for privacy, but I wanted to let you know that I got bitten by a spider in my sleep a couple of times while I was staying there. Not a huge deal, but maybe check around the bed to see if there are any friends hiding out back there!
Lovely property, very cozy - I had to work out how to turn off the heater at night because it was noisy (pinging) and was keeping me awake, but after that it was great!
- Mary (10/5): - The Landing Hotel is a fully restored/thoughtfully updated space. We booked 2 nights at The Landing, frantically, after the interstate was closed down due to inclement weather northbound. Karen, one of the owners, listened to our story and encouraged us to travel the pass immediately, even though we had booked and paid for 2 nights at the hotel already. What?! She was more concerned about us and the fact that we had a small window of opportunity to get home over the pass. Wow! We have stayed in many lodging situations all over the world. Please support quality people who are doing right! Stay at The Landing, if you can...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely spacious rooms!
- Karen (10/5): - Fantastic dinning experience
Amazing renovated hotel!
- Kurt (10/5): - Big rooms with old wooden floors. A good restaurant downstairs and a guitar you can play, after the restaurant closes.
- Carman (10/5): - Beautiful old house turned to hotel with a bar/restaurant. Very convenient and comfortable. Thank you.
- Paula (10/5): - Very nicw place to stay - small, private and staff were very nice. Self checkin/out was very easy!
- Erik (8/5): - Nice place on a very busy road, self check-in worked fine, nice bar with limited hours and limited menu
- Gerald (10/5): - A big shout-out to Michaela who made our stay more enjoyable.
- Kassi (10/5): - Gorgeous hotel, no problems getting in late felt very safe with lots of lighting in parking spots. Very homey highly recommend.
- JENNIFER (10/5): - Easygoing clean and very comfortable
- Katherine (10/5): - We loved staying there and the environment was so charming and comfortable - really beautifully done. One improvement we would request are hooks or rack in the bathroom for towels as there was no place to hang them. Also need a place to hang clothes and coat hangers. One hook was definitely not enough. An ironing board and iron would also have been lovely to have access to. Thank you!
- Cathy (10/5): - The room was very comfortable and beautiful decorated. The bed was comfortable. At first I was worried that the room faced the main road and it would be noisy but it wasn't noisy at all. We had a very pleasant stay.
- Thomas (10/5): - We’re stayed here several times and it’s always great. Their restaurant is quite good.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Nice room with desk and lovely shared deck.
- Kim M (10/5): - This is a very old building, but they have renovated it nicely. We stayed upstairs and the staff, both on arrival and on departure, helped these two septuagenarians with our luggage up and down the long, narrow stairs. Sadly we weren't there to take in the dining option, but there was coffee downstairs in the morning that was appreciated. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony as the sun set, and the beds were super comfortable!
- Matthew (6/5): Just a room - Building is historic and well maintained with character, but it is more of a room than a hotel. Remote check in, restaurant on first floor is owned by same people but is a separate business so staff was not helpful. No fridge, microwave, ice machine, coffee maker. It was literally a room with a bed and bathroom. No staff on premises to even ask for more towels or cups. Also, bathroom had a translucent glass door, so sort of awkward for family.
- Michelle (8/5): - This is a comfortable, convenient and charming place to stay, and one of the very few nicer options in La Grande. The room was spacious, quiet, well-cooled with a window AC unit, and well-appointed. The Landing has a first-floor restaurant and bar (closes early), though we walked to a pub up the street. The coffee shop across the street is terrific. The only real complaints I have are: It would be nice if rooms had coffee makers, or a central spot with free coffee in the morning. It’s on the expensive side. Also, while it’s convenient to have a completely no-contact check-in system, not a single staff member acknowledged us in any way as we arrived with our luggage and passed through the restaurant to go upstairs, or at any other point during our stay.
- Howard (10/5): Nice hotel in a nice little town - Love this little hotel. Great place to stay in the center of town. Very walkable and across the street from coffee and ice cream. If you’re a train buff, the train in a few blocks away.
- Patty (8/5): - We were in room 2, the master side faces the road. There is road noice but they have a noise machine that helps a lot. There is one thing that really bugged me about this place. For LaGrande it is really nice and you pay a premium price for it. In the morning they offer 1 free coffee (12oz or small size) or tea. You have to walk across the street to a resturant to get it and you end up spending $60 for 4 very small waffles. My husband and daughter didnt want small coffees but med size so were charged full price. Also the room was charge to my credit card 2 months before we even arrived for our 2 night stay. We did enjoy sitting on the porch upstairs in the evenings.
- Amy (10/5): A True Gem - Quaint and comfortable with convenient check-in option. Lovely dine-in restaurant option and within walking distance to local attractions. The perfect little getaway spot
- James (10/5): - The window A/C dripped condensation on the floor
- Susan (10/5): - Traveling through Eastern OR we were hoping to find a place to stay and running out of luck as many places were sold out for the night. The Landing Hotel in La Grande popped up on Expedia as a choice. The reviews were great so we made a reservations via the website. It's a self check in property and was wonderful! Easy to navigate, clean and so attractive! A welcoming greeting was on the counter, and we enjoyed a drink on the upstairs veranda in the cool of the evening. Our room was very quiet. Staff greeted us in the morning, and had coffee waiting. Excited to return some day.
- DOROTHY (10/5): - Great little hotel!
- Marilyn (2/5): Not comfortable for the price. - No toiletries in the bathroom. The bed was extremely soft and caved in the middle which made our backs extremely sore. No equipment to make coffee or tea in the room.
- Karen (10/5): - Amazing property the rooms are super clean and the food in the dining room is delicious
- Paula (10/5): - Beautiful restored hotel with good restaurant.
- colin (10/5): - Really nice and cool renovation! I really liked the 2 bedrooms configuration!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Needs work - Looks great from outside and online. When there, it’s old and pieced together. Unfinished areas in the room. No heat adjustment, cold at night but hot when waking. No fridge, micro, ice access. Constant clanging and banging from the old building at all hours. Just not worth the above average price for the area.
- Amy (10/5): The landing is a good place to land - This was such a nice place. Like a home away from home.
We loved the contactless check in. The room was clean and comfortable. The balcony on the second floor was cozy. It was fun to watch he Main Street through town. The Local ice cream/coffee/breakfast is right across the street.
- Jennifer (6/5): - Lovely place unfortunately there were a few disappointments. The towels and bath mats were very ratty and stained. Also, the website says they have coffee and breakfast but that is not accurate. A small carafe of coffee showed up in the lobby at 730 as we were leaving but 1-it was too late and 2- it didn’t seem like enough for everyone staying at the facility. A coffee maker in the room would have gone a long ways for us! The pamphlet in the room also talked about breakfast but they do not offer any such thing.
- Adam (6/5): Beautiful place but… - The Landing is a beautiful place with a lot of charm. The main issue was the heater (Raitiator) was so noisy and shook the room throughout the night. We were not able to sleep. Plus there is no front desk to speak to and calling the number used for the hotel doesn’t go anywhere. There was a text sent to me but by the next am we were leaving. I love the look of the place and understand old bones and creaking but this was a whole other level. I hope they will fix this issue and make contacting someone easier.
- Tristan (10/5): Wonderful - Amazing hospitality, great location for food and entertainment. Beautifully remodeled with original pieces from 1900. I’ll stay again.
- Beverly (10/5): - Had a wonderful experience
- Robert (10/5): Little gem! - What a delightful stay due to unexpected road closure. Made lemonade from lemons. Quaint restored historic building. Very clean renovated rooms. Close to restaurants.
- Glen (8/5): The Landing is great and we want more! - We enjoyed our stay at The Landing, as we have several times before. It feels like a treat to stay there instead of at the cookie-cutter franchise motels all along I-84. Someone was there to greet us, and she was really helpful in suggesting places to eat dinner and breakfast. During past stays, the excellent breakfast and delicious dinners at The Landing were big pluses for us, but now the restaurant is open only limited hours and days.
- Mark (10/5): - They did an excellent job renovating this property
- Tom (10/5): - Really nice hotel room. Some outside noise but white noise machine in room was beneficial. We enjoyed our stay and will stay again when we return to LaGrande.
- Valarie (6/5): Super.clean - Super clean room with old world charm. However, there is no coffee or breakfast.available as advertised. Had to go across the street. Had a glich with the self.check in but it was quickly resolved.
- tina (10/5): - Beautiful set up. Comfy cozy beds and linens.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Landing Hotel and associated restaurant were great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and didn’t want to go to any other restaurant in town
- Kim (10/5): - Such a cute place. Attention to detail even with the foot on and off switch for the light. The only thing through Expedia I received a message through them and didn’t snip it and went back to link and message was gone.
- Lanier (8/5): - The hotel and our room had a lot of charm and we enjoyed the “old style” hotel experience. We could not access WiFi and called management for the password but did not receive a return call.
- Paula (8/5): Check in procedures could have been better - The hotel was great. Very comfortable bed. Check in was not good. I didn't get the email or text for check in procedures until I called. The email came the next day. Having someone onsite to check in would have been better given the short time between booking and arriving
- James (10/5): Clean, unique, fun place to stay in La Grande. - We enjoyed our stay here. Just understand that this is not full service Hotel with complimentary breakfast or evening teas and drinks and on- site manager. No refrigerator or microwave in room.
- Mark (10/5): - Great place. Love the old floors. Rooms are clean and neat. Staff was very hospitable.
- Pat (8/5): Nice but priced high - We enjoyed staying at The Landing for its eclectic vibe and beautifully renovated space. But the restaurant was closed the day we were there (usually best breakfast anywhere around) and the shower tiles could have used a good scrub. Also, there was a waterproof layer to the bedding that resulted in sweaty, not sweet, dreams. Not sure we’ll be back in spite of its unique character.
- Johana (10/5): - The room was lovely, it was big and clean and it had everything we need it. The stuff super friendly, and the food at the restaurant incredible.
- Rene (10/5): - Excellent place to stay. Very clean and tidy. Breakfast this morning was wonderful. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.
- Matt (4/5): - The left bedroom window will not close all the way. Noise and cold air are free flowing. It was really noisy last night and difficult to get to sleep.
- Dawn (10/5): - It was a great place to stay. The rooms were nice and we enjoyed time out on the patio.
- Kathrerine (10/5): - Great location, great dining.
- Jasmine (10/5): Awesome - Loves the hotel, the town, and the people.
- Jim (10/5): - The historic hotel was a nice stay and restful and a relief from the institutional feel of the hotels and motels. We enjoyed dinner in the dining room. The breakfast was rather average compared the the excellent dinner.
- Mike (10/5): - Hotel was clean, comfortable with a good location. Several eating places within easy walking distance.
- Christine (10/5): - Delighted with this unique spot! Definitely will return.
- Daniel (10/5): - Small, clean and located within walking distance of places I like to go.
- Christine (8/5): - Easy self-checkin process. Nice and clean.
- Brian (10/5): - Nicely restored hotel. Room and bed very nice, and dinner was excellent.
- Terry (10/5): - Excellent stay. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and Abagail was a great hostess. She took great care of us. Dinner was delicious and the scones for breakfast were excellent. We will definitely be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful old building restored with guest rooms and restaurant. Our room was lovely, beautifully decorated and very comfortable
- Randy (10/5): Charming and Comfortable - This is an absolutely AMAZING property! Right in the downtown area of La Grande you are within walking distance to lots of good places to eat.
The bed and pillows in the room are some of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on!
The complimentary drip coffee provided to guests in the morning was some of the best I’ve ever had.
Can’t wait to come back at some point in the future!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nostalgia - Loved the ambiance of the place. Having grown up in LaGrande I have a lot of memories of the town. The Texaco station now a food establishment across the street was just one.
- Annette (10/5): - This hotel was comfortable, homey, and adorable. We loved all the vintage house touches. The waitstaff in the restaurant gave us lemon water to drink when we arrived, even though the restaurant was closed. Parking was very easy behind the house. They had a great balcony reserved for guest where we could sit and read in the evening. We had breakfast downstairs in the restaurant in the morning, and the food was excellent. This is definitely the best hotel in La Grande - I'd stay here again.
