Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great property. Wish pool table was free. But other free amenities are great.
- Tom (10/5): - In these times of illness and insanity, Skyport was a breath of fresh air. Great family get way. Great food, beautiful site extremely friendly staff.
- Eddie (10/5): - The whole property, they style, the decor, on the shore of a lake, was everything I would want for a trip into the north woods.
- Jeremy (10/5): - Beautiful lodge with spacious rooms that had a outdoors feel. Activity room downstairs kept my kids entertained. Fire pit was an evening highlight. Only downside were the plentiful bugs and mosquitoes at night.
- Jill (8/5): - We were very pleased with this lodge. Located a little ways out of town was nice for the peacefulness away from crowds. Lodge had a nice fire ring and kayaks/canoes for use. Kids loved the playset. Room was well kept and bathroom was decent. Definitely will return if we head back to the area!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We loved this property it is beautiful and clean....
There is a beautiful tv on the wall... and only DVD’s 😞
No tv or cable. Most people won’t mind-we just like TV. It is beautiful and comfortable
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The community room, number of extra public bathrooms and shower areas, and the attached restaurant were all wonderful!
- Susie (8/5): - Very.nice place. Quiet & clean
- Glanzman (8/5): - Liked the view of the water from room, chairs to sit and view water, restaurant on premises(good food), fridge in room. Didn’t like gravel parking lot(muddy holes), or
Having to lug suitcases down flight of stairs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay.everyone (staff)was friendly. We were very happy with our stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable room the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming would highly recommend skyport to friends and family
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We enjoyed the stay. Close enough to town and quiet.
Tried to watch tv down in recreation room but the music in bar was disturbing. Our GPS brought us on dirt roads. Could use better notification re: driving on paved roads.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quaint, clean, lake view. Good amenities. We had the suite. No elevator so need to be able to do stairs. Will come again and spend more than one night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice place to stay. Very clean. Nice ground and woods around. Tables and chairs to sit outside. Also has fire pit . Have lots of rental equipment. Canoes, kayaks, fishing boats and a nice pontoon and paddle boards. Only thing we didn’t like was bed was to soft. Great restaurant attached. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Noisy. Paper-thin walls, the rooms are right next to the restaurant/bar, and the kitchen staff likes to crank up the tunes late into the evening while they clean up.
- Jeff (8/5): Good - Comfortable and the begs felt great
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very quaint motel, beautiful surrondings, excellant service!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - love being on the lake. The restaurant food was fabulous - all in all a fabulous weekend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owners of this property were very friendly and very welling to meet our needs. Very very clean and cozy and the dinning room had a very warm feeling and good food. Beautiful lake and playground for kids.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We did not have tv service in our room - only movies could be played,
- Sheryl (8/5): - I really liked the beds, kitchenette, comfy room looking out over the Lake. We had problems with our key and no one was at the desk, so we jiggled it until we finally got in.
The coffee was excellent!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very pretty location on the lake. The room was very nice and amenities fine except that nobody checked our room for supplies on the second day...we had to take toilet tissue from the guest washroom...!
Our sleep was badly disturbed by commotion in the room above. We were never on site when the office was open and saw nobody during our stay. The girl in the Grill at check in was very courteous.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I liked that it was on a lake. Dislikes were the noise levels from the restaurant and the outdoors playground.
- BJ (10/5): Hotel Amenities - We were very impressed by what we received for the price we paid...what a great value!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - way off the beaten path
nice place to take a family for several days but not for a one night stay
the staff were very friendly and helpful
food in restaurant was great
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super friendly staff, terrific restaurant, very relaxed vibe throughout. A perfect getaway.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Restaurant and bar onsite. Clean. Fans kept room cool.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The setting on the lake is gorgeous. They have live
Music and a BBQ each week, which was really lovely. Kayaks, canoes and SUP boards come with your room, and getting out on the lake to watch the sunset is a treasure. My room was laid out nicely and was comfortable. The small kitchen is fully equipped and very functional. Loved it!
- Angela (8/5): - Clean, homey lodge. Restaurant food and drink is solid. Enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Family atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, clean, cozy room, restaurant at the site.
- Charles (6/5): A resort you say? - I can't do the Skyport Lodge any justice! We booked this accommodation months ago in part to complete a walking program to walk in all 74 MN counties, and this was the last one. (The 10 km walk sanctioned through the American Volkssport association was great!) We arrived in the early evening, but the business office had already closed for the day. Proceeded to the Bar to obtain information and check-in to the room. No initial acknowledgement that I was waiting for assistance. A female restaurant waitress asked if she could help. I told her I had a reservation and she gave me the key and led me to the room. The room was extremely warm due to the "unusual" hot temperatures in the area. Nothing to "jump-for-joy" as the room was just a room! All the amenities you could ask for except A/C (although there was a fan). For a one night stay the facility was adequate but the price was extremely high and then to top it off they added extra fees that were not initially disclosed on the Hotels.com website. The biggest factor on cost was the time of the year. I neglected to consider that it was the "4th of July" weekend in a "resort town" in Northern Minnesota. The Bar/Grill was very good and received an apology for the delay in delivery of our order, but they had been "overrun" with guests in a short period of time. We didn't sleep well due to constant fireworks and the extreme hot conditions. NO Breakfast. This accommodation is better suited for a week long guest.
- Peter (10/5): Nice quiet spot - We came for a local bike race at Lutsen so we weren't on the resort grounds for most of our trip. The room was nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. Evenings were certainly cool but the humidity had me looking for some A/C (pretty minor point).
I;d stay here again, for sure.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Was quiet, clean and a lot to do on the property! Staff was friendly and informative.
- Anonymous (10/5): - Beautiful area, nice lake. Evening restaurant on site. Clean, great staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful setting on the lake. Enjoyed a delicious meal in the bar/restaurant. Had some inconvenience with plugged toilet. No TV.
- Christine (10/5): Great value for the money - This was a great resort just outside Grand Marais. We took advantage of the restaurant and bar on the property. We also took advantage of the free canoe for a nice ride around the lake. Everyone was friendly and it was a great value. I would recommend this place to friends
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved that the room had a little private deck, lots of seating for lounging outside, and very clean. The best part was our wonderful bartenders Rich and Ally, very friendly and gave us tips on where to go to on our next adventure. Would definitely recommend this to everyone!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was very hot. Needs AC unit. Overall was a good stay.
- Alexander (10/5): Amazing, cute lodge - Service and people were amazing and very nice. The room was very comfortable and homey. Even though there wasn’t air conditioning the weather was perfect so we were never too hot or cold.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Beautiful location, to be sure, but a rather dated lodge. Very thin walls made sounds of other guests a concern, and minimal management engagement made check-in and check-out a task. This is a good location for people basecamping (think glorified hostel), but not for those wishing to spend time for more rest.
- Renate (10/5): I'll be back - Cozy lodge rooms are clean, well equipped with wonderful thematic prints on the wall. Having the Raven Rock Grill on site is a huge plus. Excellent food and service. Wonderful Northwoods resort for singles and families.
- Montanan (8/5): - Beautiful site. Very comfortable room. Lovely setting.
- Isaiah (10/5): Great value! But a slightly inaccurate listing... - The Hotel was great. Although, the listing said that the room had a lake view, but my room didn't have one. I didn't care, as I was mostly concerned about price, but it is a bit misleading
- Gretchen (8/5): Family owned and friendly - Was good food and everything was adequate to sustain comfort of life. GOId view at sunset..
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Scheduled a lake view, got a parking lot view. Dinning room was on other side of wall, noisy/laud till 2 am when bar emptied out. Never stay there again in that rooms.
- Emma (8/5): Perfect for a quiet relaxing get away - The lodge is very close to the main area of Grand Marais and lake superior, just a 10 min drive or so and is very easy to find. The drive back down into town is absolutely beautiful in the fall with all the fall colors. The lodge itself is very cute and rustic. Very clean with all the amenities you'll need for a short stay. It's a great place to "get away from it all". If you plan on spending much time in the room itself I'd reccomend maybe bringing your own movies, they just have small a selection of older dvds available. The bed was alright, not the most comfortable but certainly not the worst. Checking in and out was very easy and informal, I liked that aspect. The guy who helped us was very nice. I would definitely stay here again.
- Linda (8/5): - Great small out of the way lodge. The bar and restaurant was everything one could want. Weather was nasty so having a self contained lodge was perfect.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This property is exactly as it is described....8 miles from town in the hills outside Grand Marais Mn on a medium sized inland lake. The room was clean, comfortable and the food was good. Be advised there is no in-room TV and the cell service is spotty at best. If this is what you are expecting you will be very happy with this property.
- elizabeth (10/5): Our 3 day stay at Sky Port Lodge. - Amazing in every aspect. Will definitely return gain. Will refer to friends and family.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Awesome home-like place. The outdoor music Sunday night next to the lake while the sun was setting is something I will remember all winter when it’s cold and grey.
