- Jake (8/5): Pricey for what was offered - The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The bar and breakfast were great. Leaky toilet in room 6. There needs to be a standing shower in room 12. There was a constant and loud boiler and or heater sound in room 12 which distrubed my rest. Room 12 mattress was very soft. For the price I expected a lot more.

Very loud o - Great amount of space and in room necessities in the room with a tv, kettle, private area per person (was two of us). The breakfast was amazing friendly staff good food. No complaints on food service the girls were lovely to us 💜 No staff at the entrance we did enter at 6:30pm so 3 and a bit hours after room opening. But after 4 times of ringing the bell no one answered a young man looked out the big back door then came out around 5 minutes later. This isn’t a problem that can be fixed but there was shouting outside our room and could hear all of it when trying to sleep.

- John (6/5): Clean, comfortable, decor and staff levels let it down - Presentation good, food good Table Service disappointing- waiter served our hot drink as he suggested prior to us ordering food!! We patiently waited for 30 mins for the waiter to come back to take our order, in the end we had to ask what the position was, the waiter did come to apologise, we presumed he’d totally forgotten about us, shame really because it was a decent breakfast one we had to rush to eat to try and maintain our time schedule. On a positive The staff we had any dealings with were polite enough, but we did feel the whole hotel looks “tired” especially the stair carpet! It just felt like a one man band how it is being managed.

- Gareth (4/5): Disappointing compared to previous visits - The staff were nice and friendly. Regrettably this hotel and ( particularly ) the restaurant has gone downhill. It need a good refurb of the bedrooms and a new chef - at the moment the food served is little better than a McDonalds. This is a real disappointment as they always used to have a lovely restaurant which was in the Good Food Guide no less.

- Kirit (8/5): Convenient hotel but on a busy road. - We stayed in Rm2 which was at the front of the building over the bar. The bed was a little.form firm and could do with a mattress topper. There is also noise from the beer garden below and from diesel engines at the railway station opposite. I would likely try to avoid tgusbroon. The room itself was large and the bed linen clean and crisp. Tea and coffee were of a good standard. Bathroom is spacious too. See above. Noise. Bed too firm.

Good atmosphere , staff really nice Rooms are a bit tired and old carpets throughout hotel. Bed was nice and clean , but lots of dust on light fitting etc. Room was noisy late on as right above bar and entrance . No hot water on first morning and no one on reception to tell or ask about . Towels taken and not replaced . Tea and coffee not replaced on 2nd day and no milk left .. or biscuits . No chocolate ? Was in the room description? . Just a lot of things made the stay disappointing .

- Reg (2/5): - Possibly one of the worst hotels I’ve been to in a long time! Literally terrible from the first minute. Arrived on Tuesday evening and had to call the reception staff who was miserable and had no personality at all. Was like I was inconveniencing him. Got the keys to room one and entered the room and it was like a homeless shelter. Marks on the carpet and walls. Cracks in the wall as well. Loud extractor fan going all day outside the window and painfully dire view of it. The bathroom was awful with a broken toilet seat and a shower which leaked and roasted you to death due to the thermostat not working. Told staff at reception about this and not a care in the world and weren’t interested at all. Nothing was fixed or rectified. Breakfast was pathetic and was the cheapest continental breakfast on the planet with a quarter cup of tea to wash it down. So many other problems but forget it, glad it’s over! Do not, under any circumstances go to this hotel. If you are planning to book this hotel, just go to a local homeless shelter, it will be better than this!

- Stephen (8/5): Good place to stay overall :) - Located right opposite rail station ! Was unexpectedly surprised by the quality of the food in the restaurant. We had organised a post funeral wake and the staff were very sweet Could have done without the music playing the the garden outside. You can either have pretensions rules about dress code and real flowers or not rules about clothing and plastic flowers but not both surely !

- Joshua (6/5): An honest review - When I arrived there wasn’t a member of staff at reception. I had to wait around 5 minutes before someone arrived. I was given the “penthouse suite” (room 12). Straight away when I opened the door an awful odour lingered around the room. The cleaners had obviously noticed the same thing and opened all the windows and turned the desk fan on prior to my arrival. The room itself could do with re-decorating, as there were chips of paint out of the doors, the cream carpets within the room were absolutely disgusting and could do with either a deep clean or ripping up completely. The bathroom had a very dated bath and showering wasn’t an option as they only had the head and no where you could hang up. I didn’t eat within the hotel as everything I’d experienced put me off. On a brighter note parking wasn’t an issue. But I would never stay here again.

- Duncan (7/5): A nice hotel, but the breakfast timing needs to be reviewed. - The location was good for me, right opposite the station. There wasn't an option to book without breakfast, so I had to have it included. When I checked in, I was disappointed to learn that a cooked breakfast is only available after 9am, before that it is continental.

I didn't realise it was a social pub which meant it was quite noisy, the room could do with some TLC as it was a little tatty. (Room 8) no iron or board or plugs near the bed to charge your phone.

- Fiona (7/5): Nice room pity about the extractor fans - The room itself was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable . Only real disappointment for us was having the room next to kitchen extractor fans which were on when we arrived until 10.25pm. Perhaps if the changed the single glazed window for a double this would help drown out some of the persistent droning.

- Rc444 (9/5): Cute hotel in convenient location - The location is very convenient, next to the train station. The staff was friendly. Continental breakfast was delicious. Hotel was clean and inviting. The bed was very firm (our room was room one). The only window that could open was in the bathroom so our room got kind of stuffy in the night. Thankfully the room had a little fan.

- Martin (5/5): very basic, unorganised and poor fixtures - location is great and the bar is good, Short staffed, no one on reception on arrvial , a sign to say walk through to the bar, they had lost the room key so had a spare one with huge wooden block meant I couldn't take it with me, shower didn't work and when I told the guy on check out, he said he would get someone to look at it but didn't apologise or acknowledge my issue just his. a real shame as I use to live in the area and the hotel has been good, but sadly really gone down hill

- Jennie (7/5): Comfortable with exceptional customer service. - The location was amazing. It was easy to find and there was parking available. Reception staff were fantastic - really lovely customer service from them. Impressive lobby and loved the reception doors. Rooms are quite dated and worn. The room we stayed in had window glue running down the sides of the bathroom window. The carpets from the hallway and up the stairs was extremely worn and in some areas, quite threadbare. You can tell it was once very loved but just seems in need of modernisation.

- P (4/5): Disappointing - It is handy for local amenities Room was fair, usual facilities, wifi wouldn't work in our room. The room price was about ⅓ more than you'd expect to pay, we were disappointed.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Our room (1) was very hot (even on a cool day and with no heating on) and had a poor outlook onto exhaust pipes.
