martin (9/5): Lovely hotel with a warm and friendly vibe - Loved the beach and Prickly Pear Island, the restaurant, the tennis courts and gym. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was very helpful having a Butler - Michael was great for getting restaurant bookings and taxis, etc. Dougie on the beach was great. Loved Davy on the water taxi service back and forwards to Prickly Pear. Too many great staff to mention. Breakfast was good quality and kept us full until our evening meal. We ate out most evenings and there are some great restaurants within 30 minute taxi ride. The beach bar was nice and very reasonably priced at Happy Hour. Lovely relaxed resort with a great vibe. Nothing that would put us off going again. It's medium sized resort - so think small and friendly rather than big with lots of entertainment and facilities that said they had what we needed - a nice beach, a couple of pools, good gym, two good tennis courts and a nice restaurant for breakfast. Not really much within walking distance but taxis are cheap and easy - it's a small island - you can get to the far side in 45 minutes.

Check In dauerte 45 Minuten für 4 Zimmer. Online Vorcheck In hat nicht funktioniert. Keine Amenities auf den Zimmern. Tresor funktionierte nicht, wurde aber noch spät am Abend repariert. Wasserkocher war das Kabel zu kurz, musste ihn auf den Bodennstellen. Wurde am nächsten Tag repariert. Badewanne wackelte gefährlich, wurde nich repartiert. Frühstpcksauwahl war mittelmässig für $ 30.

From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome—warm, attentive, and always ready to help. The setting is simply breathtaking, with crystal-clear waters, a peaceful private beach, and gorgeous views everywhere you look. I especially loved lounging by the infinity pool, soaking in the serenity and island breeze. My room was spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable, with a balcony that offered the perfect spot for morning coffee and sunsets. The food was another highlight—fresh, flavorful, and served with a smile. Hodges Bay combines modern luxury with a relaxed Caribbean charm, and I left feeling truly recharged. I can’t wait to return. While I absolutely loved my stay at Hodges Bay Resort, I would note that the rooms are on the pricier side. However, given the quality of the service, amenities, and overall experience, I felt the value was still there. It’s definitely more of a splurge destination, but one worth treating yourself to.

Honestly, there was nothing I didn’t like about Hodges Bay Resort & Spa. Every detail was thoughtfully curated, and the experience was flawless from beginning to end. Richelle (8/5): - The property is beautiful and very well kept. It is extremely quiet and relaxing. The private island Prickly Pear was a little disappointing, not much to it. I didn’t really care for the white sands restaurant staff. I feel like they were not very attentive (the daytime staff). Also watch the menu switcharoo, they try and charge more on the bill than the listed price on the menu. The front desk people were very nice and the cleaning people were on point. The food is good but very very very expensive. This hotel is close to nothing in walking distance so if you plan to explore the island get a rental car. The stay overall was good, but the hidden fees and overcharging for every little thing was pretty ridiculous. For some good food close by is a hidden little gem Called Canvas. It is a $10 5 minute cab ride there and the food is delicious. This resort is beautiful, my reason for the 8 out of ten is solely because of some of the restaurant staff.

Verified traveler (4/5): Only stay if you like to be stolen from - Just like the taxi drivers in Antigua, the people working here will try to con and cheat you out of your money. Several times I had to correct bills they handed me with an extra charge snuck in. The receptionist even lied & told me I needed to pay for the room again even though I had fully paid on hotels.com. Had to spend a long time going back and forth with her. Food is mediocre. Breakfast is terrible and overpriced. Dinner is ok but overpriced. Even the fries aren’t tasty. It’s not worth the price
Shaniqua (10/5): - I had an amazing time at Hodges Bay. From when I arrived, I was warmly greeted by Jaheim (I hope I got his name right). He offered me and my guest a beverage and a cool towel since it was very hot outside. We were then given a tour of the grounds by Javid and Jamar and then quickly taken to our rooms, allowing us to unwind and relax. Throughout our stay, both Javid and Jamar were very helpful even assisting us with excursions off the property. The property itself was very lovely. Clean and beautiful! I couldn’t have asked for a better ocean front resort. The beds were comfortable and once I figured out how to get the shower water to a hot temperature, I was at ease. We never had to ask them to clean our space or ask for extra towels. The room was always well equipped with what we needed. I cannot forget to mention that upon our arrival to the room, they had fresh fruits and brownies waiting for us. The beach was beautiful and we had no issues with seaweed. Access to Prickly Pear was a bonus and I cannot put into words how beautiful the scenery was. Jean-Marie was a dear! She set up travel arrangements for Barbuda. She made sure we had a taxi to and from. Anything that we needed, she made happen and it never seemed like we were asking for too much. Tanika, Anastasia, and Tango were also amazing at the bar! Drinks were strong and delicious and the food even better. The pools, the spa… Omg the spa! Everything was amazing! Please do not hesitate to book here. You won’t regret it.

The room was beautifully designed, and the resort itself is absolutely stunning, offering breathtaking views of the ocean. The only drawback during our stay was the occasional lack of hot water. We reported the issue to the front desk, and while it was eventually resolved, it took several hours—unfortunately, this meant we couldn’t shower that evening. That said, the hotel staff truly went above and beyond . Every team member we encountered was incredibly warm, personable, and welcoming, which made our stay all the more enjoyable.

The villas are perfect for people traveling with multiple families and the views are spectacular, the food was delicious, grounds extremely well kept and beautifully landscaped, staff very accommodating, two beautiful pools and terrific beach. Very upscale hotel highly recommended. We had some issues with the water pressure in our villa for showers, but staff was very attentive to address the problem. Prickly pear island is beautiful but can be extremely hot if you’re going over for lunch. Lastly - there is not much around the resort so if you like to explore and get off resort it will be expensive by cab to do so.

Cons: The service could be better, the staff are not as attentive as I would have liked for a resort this size and caliber. IMPORANT: I did get Scombroid food poisoning from the fish tacos on the first day, which is caused by fish that is not stored properly. I tried to notify the hotel after my stay and they did not respond.

After that it was more like fend for yourself. We have a room with a butler ...met her for 30 seconds and that was it. Our refrigerator didnt work i told them nothing happened, three days never refilled our water until i called and it took 12 hours. They have staff everywhere and all theybdo is talk to eachother. Never ask if you want a drink at the beach or pool. Asked for coffee it literally took the 40 minutes in the restaurant. Rooms are ok overall. We have a beachfront with loungers that were never sunny and the staff never chnaged the covers they were dirty every day. Management really need to look to change the culture of the staff. It was literally like we were a nuisance being there.
Beaudrie (9/5): Beautiful and secluded stay - perfect for relaxation. - We loved the private island that is associated with the resort - Prickly Pear. We also loved the views from our room. The rooms were very spacious and the pools were nice and clean. The staff was friendly, we especially enjoyed our interactions with Tango and Jamar. This is the PERFECT vacation if you simply want to relax. We would've liked better dining options on the resort, specifically for breakfast. The resort only offered a buffet. We also would've liked a few more supplies in the kitchen such as a blender, larger bowls, and sharper knives.

Barbara (10/5): A Wonderful Trip To Paradise - The resort is lovely and convenient to the airport. The staff (everyone) are very friendly and accommodating. We booked an Ocean Front Junior Suite and we could not have asked for anything more. The hotel has restaurants on sight and there are many close by. We also enjoyed spending the day at Prickly Pear Island. We were very happy with our stay!

Stephanie (10/5): - Overall this resort is very nice. Beautifully designed and decorated and nice art work throughout. When we were there it was very quiet. Beach is small. Prickly Pear Island is a bonus and a beautiful spot to spend the day via a short complimentary boat ride. Food is OK not amazing. Most of the staff were very friendly and great service but at times the service was slow. This area is quite remote and not within walking distance to anything. St. Johns is 15 minute drive and English Harbour and area is 45 minutes. Great spot to relax and unwind but not much to do in the area.
Patrick (8/5): Great but needs a bit of touch up - Hudson Bay is a really nice place to stay at. Staff is friendly and the highlight is definitely the little island they also have, only 5 min boat ride - we preferred the lunch on the island instead of hotel! Rooms need a bit of touch up and TV signal needs to be sorted. Would be great to have all inclusive setup as well. All in all a very nice stay and worth the money we paid, definitely recommend it!

Short (8/5): We will return. - The location is fantastic, close to St John’s and the airport, with its own private island. The staff were exceptionally polite and efficient and always remembered our names. In particular, Dougie, Tango, Jean-Marie and Jamarel all stood out. Dougie took me sailing on a few occasions - only 20 bucks for 30 mins - showing great courage and patience, I thought, given my basic skills. I got the holiday of a lifetime, thanks, in part, to Dougie. We were upgraded after there was an issue with our room: beachfront villa. The food on site is NOT poor or OK, as some reviews have stated, but well above average, and the breakfast, by European standards, is excellent. There are so many superb places to eat within half an hour that I would recommend not eating at the resort each evening, then moaning about it, but renting a car and going out. The hotel will help you rent a car. There was a serious problem with our original room; part of a much larger issue with overall maintenance and management. I am assured the issue is now being dealt with and in fact the hotel is now under new management.

Ginny (4/5): Disappointing - Nice location and beautiful island you can go over to on the hotel shuttle Our room was really damp and smelled. The sofas were really stained and there was hardly any water in the bathroom. I had to shower in the pool showers which had no hot water so freezing.
Boss6907160 (7/5): Great! But not excellent...yet! - The estate is beautifully maintained. The staff are uniformly helpful. Prickly pear island is a treat! TV reception is very poor. This should be a quick fix, a promised set box top never appeared. Following a paid for upgrade the bath leaked and plaster fell off of the ceiling. Remember this room is very expensive! Also, we ordered room service dinner but the food was low quality and cold. Interestingly we ate at the restaurant the following day and the food was good. Perhaps they should drop room service if it cannot reach the room hot. On departure $200 was deducted for the above which was gratefully received however, for the cost of staying there you expect an almost flawless experience. Would I stay there again? Yes. But they should work hard to iron out these issues. I think the poor TV reception has been mentioned by previous residents obviously to no avail.

James (6/5): Blah - We usually stay on the south shore but decided to stay on the north shore shore mainly due to price. Never again. The positives were it's closeness to the airport, the rooms were a good size, and the people in and out of the resort were very cordial, that's it. Oh and the pools were pretty. Older redone property with a tiny manmade beach. One small beach bar that was too cold and windy at night to sit at. Two restaurants, one was closed most of the eight days we were there. Food quality was OK at best. There are some decent restaurants not too far off, but it's a $20-$40 cab fare. Large property with a lot of steps and ramps to get to anywhere in the resort. Rooms are very Spartan with very little furniture. Our air conditioner seemed to work only when it wanted to even after two visits by the engineer. The resort is not bad it's just very boring.

Arun (10/5): - Beautiful, clean resort with friendly and welcoming staff. 2 BR, 2 BA Oceanview suite was perfect for our family of 5. The pools were nice with plenty of chairs, towels, etc. Boat ride from resort to Prickly Pear Island was a great bonus. The roads around the property could use some maintenance but that's true of the entire country in general. We had an awesome overall experience. Highly recommend this place for some R&R. Wish they had a few more vegetarian options for my wife though.
Wahid (2/5): - The restaurant is way over priced and the attention to detail is lacking. They mistakenly put alcohol in a child’s drink, incorrectly insisted on pizza being gluten free, changed around meats - and that was just one meal. I’ve never seem so many errors.
