Guest Reviews
- Karen (10/5): - Very clean
- Ruth (10/5): - Will be going back again we loved it!
- Luis (10/5): - Our family had a great time in this Villa. The owner was also great and the house was very clean. Great for children I strongly recommend it.
- Toni (10/5): - We loved that it felt like an extension of our home, there were games to play, toys for our kids and a pack n play for the baby. The house was clean, we had supplies if we needed them to wipe spills or anything. The grassy area was a great spot to play catch and run around. The forest views were lovely and it was SO CLOSE to starved rock, we were able to go for the morning, come back for lunch and go back to the park again. 10/10 I would recommend and we will be booking again!
- jan (10/5): - great place to stay. Closed to starved rock. Would recommend staying here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Recommended - Spacious, well equipped and quiet location. Bathrooms were spotless. Very close to restaurants and parks. Communication was excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property was spacious, clean and comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. The host's communication was excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great stay! The villa was very spacious and clean. Tons of space. Lots of kitchen supplies. Super close to all the hikes. Highly recommend it! Great host! We would like to come back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is very close to two hiking spots. They were beautiful in winter, but there was a lot of ice on the trails. Likely will go back in summer. The place we stayed was good for a long weekend. All the comforts of home were there plus two switch operated fireplaces.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location was great, the villa was super clean, comfy beds, and tons of kitchen supplies to make a great Christmas dinner. We loved it all!
- Jennifer (10/5): Great time! - The Villa was a wonderful place! I liked the little stream in the back and the fireplaces very much.
- April (10/5): Great alternative to cramped hotel rooms - We had a family reunion at Starved Rock but rooms there are tiny. We wanted a bigger space for our family of five, access to a kitchen for breakfast, more than one bathroom, and laundry turned out to be a plus with swimming, kayaking and 100+ temps. This place seemed too good to be true when. I booked and I was worried up to the moment we opened the door. But it was perfect. Spotless. Even a bottle of wine for us!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I was extremely happy with everything! Can't wait to return for another visit!
- Patricia (10/5): Loved our stay! - We stayed 3 nights in this villa for our wedding weekend at Starved Rock, and we couldn't have been happier with it. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and candy, the place was super clean, updated and modern, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and it had everything we needed for a celebration weekend. The kitchen was stocked with supplies, there were games and movies to use during our stay and it just really felt like a home away from home. It's the little things that make a stay memorable, and there were little touches everywhere that made this a great place for the memory books.
This villa is located in the Grand Bear resort right by Starved Rock, but it's not associated with the hotel so you don't have to check in with them. We received a key code from the owners before we came, and everything we needed was there when we got in. If you want to use the water park at Grand Bear, you'll need to pay for wristbands since the villa isn't managed by the hotel, but the hotel offers passes for (I believe) around $20 for a day of swimming. I think that's worth it though because this place is definitely more well kept than some of the units managed by the hotel. And we got a great deal on the room through hotels.com versus booking a villa through the hotel. Highly recommend this place!!
- Shawn (10/5): Excellent getaway hideaway! - Very clean, very quiet, and everything you could need. All kitchen appliances, laundry machines in the villa. Easy fireplaces in living room and master bedroom. Just flip a light switch and you have a cozy fire. Jet tub in master fits 2. Can view TV or out back balcony doors from tub. Bed was really comfortable. I usually hate motel beds. Homemade breakfast a Nonie's was just a few minutes up the road. Hike at Starved Rock. Cool touristy stuff is all right there, antiques, trading post, gourmet popcorn, ice cream, fudge. Can always get day passes to indoor water park right in front of villa area. Came to celebrate 25th Anniversary, and already planning to return. No funny smells!!! We like cabins and villas for our family of 6, but they usually have smells-musty, smoky, or other old party smells. None of that here. I think the security deposit and cleaning fees keep the party crowd away-worth it! This was more like real hospitality-not like hotel at all. Very nice experience.
- Maggie (10/5): Excellent Villa for family get away! - Enjoyed our weekend get away. Villa was spacious, accommodated 7 adults with extra room to space. We spent quality family time and used the kitchen to cook several of our meals. The rooms were clean and the kitchen was fully stocked with all the utensil needed. The resort was full, however our area remained quiet and there was plenty of room for parking. We hiked in Matthiessen state park and enjoy the beautiful scenery. After our hike we stopped at the outdoor bar just a short walk from our villa and relaxed with an adult refreshment. It was a great location to bring our family together and find entertainment for all ages.
