• Dominik (10/5): - Superschöne Unterkunft im Wald nahe GR20 mit ganz tollen Gastgebern und leckerem Frühstück. Abendessen original korsisch!
• Karsten (4/5): - Das Zimmer war sauber und entsprach den Bildern. Parkplätze direkt vor der Tür vorhanden. Leider hört es da mit den positiven Punkten schon auf. Für 160 € pro Nacht haben wir auf Korsika bereits deutlich bessere Unterkünfte erlebt. Das Abendessen bestand aus einem festen Menü ohne Wahlmöglichkeit und war geschmacklich schwach – erinnerte eher an Kantine, nicht an ein Hotelrestaurant (38 € p. P.). Das Frühstück war sehr spartanisch: Brot vom Vortag, keine Eier, kaum Auswahl. Der Gastgeber sprach kein Englisch und zeigte sich unfreundlich – auf unser „We would like to check in“ folgte nur ein spöttisches „Hier spricht man Französisch“. Ohne Grundkenntnisse in Französisch wäre kein Check-in möglich gewesen. Die Dame an der Rezeption war freundlich und bemühte sich immerhin mit Englisch – das war der einzige Lichtblick im Service. Kein Shampoo im Bad, kein Fernseher, keine Amex-Zahlung fürs Abendessen (trotz Buchung mit Amex). Im Zimmer hängt ein Hinweis, dass Direktbucher bessere Preise bekommen – fragwürdig. Edit: Zwei Tage nach der Bewertung bekam ich einen Anruf von einer anonymen Nummer – nur Französisch, kein Englisch. Ein Rückruf war nicht möglich. Für mich kein professionelles Verhalten.
• Morag (6/5): - The property is delightful. It’s very olde world charm. However there are no parking facilities and clients have to be transported from public car parks around the town. This was not made clear or we would not have booked. Taking a car to the hotel is impossible and you only find this out when following the sat nav and getting stuck in a narrow street. I requested some milk from one of the receptionist for our tea in the room and was very disappointed in her haughty response. She would give me some hot milk as a favour but if I wanted cold I would have to pay for it!!! Otherwise she could direct me to a bus stop and I could go into town. There are no grocery shops in the vicinity. Definite attitude problem. Breakfast was fine except for the mushroom omelette which was grey and watery. Very unappetising. Atmosphere in the breakfast room was also intimidating. I was so looking forward to this hotel and of the ones we staying in during our trip, it was overall the one I would be the least likely to book again and certainly would not recommend.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Wunderschönes Haus mit einem Makel - Das Zimmer und das ganze Haus sind wirklich wunderschön gelegen. Zimmer sauber, geräumig, schöne Aussicht. Daran kann man absolut nichts aussetzen. Leider wirbt das Haus auf seiner Website mit dem Satz "We happily speak English!" Die Person, die da arbeitet und ein einziges Wort Englisch versteht oder gar spricht, war aber anscheinend den Tag über nicht anwesend oder existiert nicht. Dementsprechend war der Service auf ein absolutes Minimum beschränkt. Wir hatten in Vorfeld per Kontaktformular des Hauses das Dinner bestellt. Erst bei der Ankunft wurde uns dann mündlich mitgeteilt, dass es ausfällt und wir einen Tisch im Restaurant beim Bahnhofshotel reservieren müssten (dort war aber alles ausgebucht, also kein Essen für den Abend). Warum die Info nicht vorab per Mail kam, keine Ahnung. Sie hatten mir ja vorher schonmal eine Mail geschrieben. Beim Frühstück am nächsten Morgen wurden alle Französischen Gäste der anderen Zimmer herzlichst begrüßt und es wurde jede einzelne Person nach Kaffee oder heißer Schokolade gefragt. Außer uns Deutschen, uns wurde nur ein kurzer kalter Blick zugeworfen und dann der Rücken zugedreht. Wenn die Betreiber des Hauses keine ausländischen Gäste wünschen oder sich vor den Tücken der Kommunikation fürchten (Google Translate ist anscheinend unbekannt), sollte man vielleicht nicht online mit Englischkenntnissen werben. Das alles hat unseren Aufenthalt und die Stimmung etwas getrübt und wir waren froh, als wir gegangen sind. Ansonsten alles gut.

• Randonneur (10/5): - The Casa is a beautifully renovated 19th century house about a 10 minute walk uphill from the train station at Vizzavona. It’s a guest house, not a hotel, and that’s an important distinction. The owners cooked a truly wonderful family-style dinner, and the breakfast was the best I had in Corsica. But this is not the right place for a traveler who is not confident in their French language capabilities, or who wants an anonymous hotel experience.

We had diner and breakfast at the Casa and it was delicious (especially the deserts). Everything is home made. But what we appreciated the most was the company and the precious advises they gave us for a fabulous hike along a gorgeous river. I wish we would have stayed a few more nights. There are so many nice hikes you can do from this location. We highly recommend a stay at Casa Alta and I would not surprised if we are back with friends for another stay next year.
