- Marian (8/5): - Lovely room with a very comfortable bed. Great sized room and en suite.
Good mirrors
Nice tea bags
Nice biscuits
Lovely pillows
Gorgeous towels
Nice bathroom products
Space Poor lighting in the bedroom
Not enough hanging space
Noisy from 9am til kitchen closure due to the fans running (and the smell of cooking invading the bedroom - I had a faint odour of bacon lingering on me before I had even reached the restaurant)
Bath takes ages to drain so getting two grown adults bathed (no shower) in less than 20 minutes was a challenge
Slow slow slow service with mistakes at breakfast
- Rowena (9/5): Enjoyable!! - The room and the staff Sadly breakfast wasn’t included in the price!!
- Jacqueline (9/5): - A lovely pub/small hotel. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
- Lynette (8/5): Nice - Location in pretty village. No shower in our room only a bath.
- Roger (10/5): A++++ Top class Accommodation, service and Food - Top Class Service, Food and the decor and grounds are a great way to relax Nothing
- Barry (8/5): Enjoyable - Clean comfortable. lovely sheets. Good evening meal good . Everyone welcoming Air conditioning units directly outside. Windows and noisy. Breakfast disappointment if you didn’t want cooked
- Matt (10/5): - Wonderful place from start to finish
- Chris (7/5): Room was nice, wanted to eat there but we only had cash which they don't accept as payment, annoying - Just stayed in the room, it was good, nice room, didnt use the pub or restaurant We wanted to have dinner and breakfast in the pub but we only had cash and they don't have accept cash, so we went to the George instead the food and drinks was excellent !
- Shelagh (9/5): - Location was excellent. Room was well equipped and luxurious. Very comfortable bed and powerful shower. Breakfast was a little pricey.
- MARIE NOELLE (10/5): - Tout était parfait. Incroyablement cosy, dans les détails.
Personnel adorable. Rien
- William (10/5): Perfect stay - Robert and Lone was really happy about everything with the accomadation :)
- Tracy (5/5): Nice place let down by service - Great location Service in the restaurant/bar was poor. Very slow. Had to chase both at lunch and breakfast. Wrong order taken, 2 breakfasts brought out before the others and were nearly finished before the others arrived.
- Michelle (9/5): Superb -
- Audrey (7/5): Very pleasant stay on our way down to Cornwall - The setting was lovely and great garden for sitting with a drink. Food was very good. Did not like not having a shower😫😫
Even a hand shower would be ok but instead was a jug ☹️☹️
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Traci (10/5): Excellent boutique hotel - Lovely quaint hotel rooms
Very clean
Food amazing Nothing
- Kathy (9/5): We were visiting friends close by. The location was perfect and we were upgraded free of charge. - Great atmosphere with friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel. Nothing
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (7/5): Good - Breakfast was nice but expensive The evening meal was time zoned so for a family get together, that wasn’t great and wasn’t previously flagged . The bar restaurant was very noisy.
- John (8/5): Comfortable and a great lication - Only a bath and not even a shower head in one of our rooms.
- Julie (10/5): Staying at The Swan - The room was excellent, plenty of tea and coffee in the room.Beautifully cleaned . We went to the hotel bar, ordered a large red wine and a pint of lager and only found out the next day we were charged £23.45.
Being ex publicans, these prices were very expensive and £20.00 per head for breakfast was overpriced.
- Angela (9/5): Superb -
- Alessia (8/5): Lovely pub in awesome location - Lovely pub, good food - really nice roast, good beer. Comfortable bed, nice and quiet and a great place to stay. Bath only in the room which was a shame. Having a bath in the morning before leaving is a much more laborious process than a shower! Maybe a little bit pricey for what it is but very nice all the same.
- Connor (10/5): Good food, nice beds, lovely area - We loved the location, the pub underneath was really nice. We only stayed a night but would definetely choose this place again if we ever decided to visit the mendips again. Also pizza oven. Had some issues with the showerhead, bit hard to use without getting water on the floor
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Mathew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mick (7/5): Good - Food was disappointing menu was poor and execution poor. I had plaice one night which came with lettuce leaves and some inedible hard bits. Had sirloin steak another which was grissly and not worth the £33 I paid
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely room, great food, friendly staff, lovely location
- Gerry (7/5): Comfortable - Room was cosy and comfortable Immediately on arrival the receptionist informed us we did not have breakfast included because we had booked via Booking.com. She said we could have had breakfast included if we’d booked direct with the hotel. It felt a bit like being in the headmaster’s office!
A lot of noise from the room above as the people moved around.
- Godfrey (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ray (1/5): Bad - We asked for a refund as we realised we had booked in the wrong place phoned you and you said you could not refund due to booking.com they agreed to let you refund but you chose to keep the money disguising as quite a large business I will make a point of remembering this as they always say don’t make enemy’s make friends
- Christopher (10/5): very relaxing - staff very friendly nothing
- Sarah (8/5): Comfortable relaxing stay in a great village pub, - Friendly, helpful staff.
Mostly delicious food with prompt and helpful waiters
The fish and chips and the burger were delicious.
Great location in the village
great ambience in the pub
comfortable rooms
Enjoyed our stay My comments are meant to be constructive.
We didn't realise that only 1 (our party booked 4) of the rooms had an actual shower - the rest of us had baths with or without a shower attachment which was annoying.
We were in room 4 and we had our bedroom window open and the extractor fan started at 6am.
My brother and his wife had sandwiches for lunch. The cheese and tomato was tasteless and the bread was extra dry and cardboardy with hardly any butter in it. The beef sandwich wasn't much better.
Good choice of Breakfast, which was good (bacon was extraordinarily salty)
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- John (9/5): Very good - Did have breakfast
- Lynne (6/5): Location great for our needs, however, the room was a disappointment for the price we paid. - Location great for us on our journey from Yorkshire to Cornwall.
We didn't have Breakfast as we thought a little expensive at £15. Especially as it would have been free if we had booked direct with you and not through Booking.com. Having no shower and very high bath made things a little difficult. The Bathroom could have been cleaner. Bedroom/Bathroom windows could do with some attention .
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- Omar (10/5): Wonderful — will definitely return! - Beautiful and immaculate hotel in the stunning village of Wedmore. But by far the best thing about the hotel is the staff and their strong customer service ethic, both during my stay but importantly afterwards: I had left some AirPods in my room when I checked out. When I called to see whether they had been found, they were indeed located by the housekeeping staff. The gentleman on reception immediately offered to post them back to me.
The breakfast was also absolutely delicious — compliments to the chef!
Huge thanks to the entire team for making the stay very special!
- Russell (10/5): try this place you wont be disappointed - a beautiful room staff was really friendly nothing
- Katherine (8/5): Very good -
- Maddison (9/5): Beautifully renovated hotel stay in Wedmore - Staff were welcoming and attentive! Great food and service. Bed and bath in our room were lush! No shower option which a friend would have preferred.
- Mark (6/5): Not up to scratch. - Good location, comfy bed. Noisy room due traffic, meant keeping windows closed. Very over priced, £370 for 2 nights without breakfast! Had dinner in the restaurant and was ruined by a very loud party of eight that staff never once asked to tone it down. Icing on the cake, at checkout even nobody asked about our stay. Average room, very poor customer service.
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samuel (8/5): Great overnight stay but lacks some finesse - Clean, tidy, comfortable and welcoming staff Cocktail list poor and bar staff seemed inexperienced to cocktails.
Room temperature too hot but not hotels fault. AC unit instead of fan would be desirable
No shower in room
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (10/5): Perfect - The central location with parking, the property’s character, the quality and comfort of the room and its furnishings, the very warm and welcoming staff, excellent bar, restaurant and garden areas. Nothing
- Josh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Cartwright (6/5): Pleasant - Good breakfast and service Stayed in room 4. Not sure what the noise was but very loud coming from outside from around 4am.
- Catherine (7/5): Charged for the dog!£15 wasn’t told whose booked it - Nice beer garden . Service charge didn’t see it until I had paid
- Sonja (10/5): A delightful overnight stopover in a charming village - We received a very warm greeting on arrival and all staff were very friendly. We stayed in room 7 which was spacious and quirky. Choice of pillows, coffee machine and a kettle. Our dog was also welcomed. Great garden and plenty of outside seating. At breakfast they had run out of yoghurt but the lovely young lady serving got someone to go to the shop to get some for me. We enjoyed dinner in the bar area. Food good and a lovely atmosphere. I had pizza which was excellent. An enjoyable one night stay, will definitely return We liked everything
- Charlotte (8/5): Nice pub, lovely location but room for improvement - Great location- Wedmore was a lovely surprise, a pretty village with a few independent shops.
Nice bar, restaurant and big garden with a good buzz. Really excellent starters and a lovely pizza. Friendly staff. Decent sized room with a massive bath. The room/ the bed was really uncomfortable - quite hard and the duvet/pillows really synthetic. As other reviewers have said not having a shower or shower attachment in the bath is inconvenient and a little strange. The bath is too deep/wide to fill quickly. In the morning I had to kneel in the bath a tip jugs of water over myself to freshen up.
The garden could do with attention- it was a little scruffy and tables hadn’t been cleared.
Whilst the starters were excellent and my pizza was good my husbands burger was not- very solid and rubbery which was a shame.
- Kim (7/5): Good -
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (4/5): It was pleasant, but for a noisy room and lack of sleep... staff very good - Lovely hotel, great staff, very helpful....Breakfast was outstanding, one of the best... old spot bacon and sausages...!!!
Good garden, great décor generally... nice restaurant area, able to accommodate. Rooms very noisy (Room 6) did ask for a quiet room on booking, didn't happen...!!! as I have a shoulder injury to nurse !!! … heard coming and goings all the time....!!!! disrupted sleep over 2 days (5 hrs in 2 days)
No shower, just a big bath....with no shower attachment...which took a lot to use
Parking limited unfortunately....
- Sean (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (9/5): Superb - Coffee machine in room . Preference would be kettle and coffee ,chocolate sachets.
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional - Lovley comfortable room delightful with coffee nespresso machine ..perfect..lovley deep bath plus products..comfortable bed..felt safe and comfortable
- Sharron (10/5): Very welcoming. Room was Lovley. Little treat bag for Sully bear. He played with the ball all evening. - Clean. Little extras. Nothing
- Linda (8/5): Lovely characterful hotel - Lovely decor and atmosphere and staff were great Lack of showers in two out of the three rooms
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional - Just beautiful! Bed was so comfy and my roll top bath in the room was divine. Staff were amazing and the food was delicious. Will be back soon
- Maria (8/5): Very good -
- Gemma (10/5): Really nice weekend away, tasty food, even did us hot drinks for the journey home! - Staff, style, dog friendliness, food and drinks Nothing
- Anthony (9/5): Really nice hotel with friendly and helpful attentive staff good food good selection of drinks and fabulous rooms good v - Rooms were great decor and ambiance great staff very good food very good overall very good Sorry nothing
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Alex (8/5): Very good -
- Adele (3/5): Not recommended - The room was spacious. The mattress was very hard and uncomfortable and there was no shower at all - I wouldn’t have booked if that had been made clear. I think charging £245 for a two night stay and expecting guests to wash their hair with a tin jug is a rip off.
- Alan (8/5): Very satisfactory apart from resrevations above - Warm and comfortable with excellent breakfast and attentive staff. Good car parking arrangements. Early closure of the hotel at 10.30pm - if late arrival guests would have to phone a local number to get the hotel unlocked. I arrived after my meeting at 10.30pm and the doors were already locked - fortunately a member of staff had not quite left the premises. Steep stairs to the room on the first floor and several journeys had to be made to collect luggage from the car.
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (9/5): A superb pub, with comfortable rooms, and good quality food. - Location excellent. Wedmore is a pleasant town. Staff were very welcoming, loved the pop-up bakery on the morning we left. Shower please. Car park seemed very full for a midweek.
- Dick (9/5): Superb -
- Yvette (10/5): What’s an absolute delightful place to stay and I recommend this for anyone - We stayed in the Loft room, which was absolutely beautiful.
I am vegetarian and we ate in the restaurant on the evening and the food was outstanding . Nothing
- Michelle (9/5): Gorgeous stay in the heart of a beautiful village - loved it. - Fab recommendation from someone I know who lives locally for a spontaneous night, while we were in the area. We were not disappointed. Gorgeous room in fab pub in a beautiful little village not far from Wells. Huge bedroom with king size bed and bathroom with shutters that opened out onto the street at the front. It was lovely and we were sorry we weren't there for longer. We will definitely stay again. The staff were also very nice. And gorgeous tasty dinner with veggie options. A really pleasant stay. I can't think of any issues - apart from no iron in the bedroom, so we went to dinner in crumpled clothes as the staff were too busy to bring up. But we didn't care as we were starving :-)
- Luke (8/5): Very good -
- Julian (8/5): A lovely Inn, in a great location, well worth a visit. - The staff were excellent. Hazel in particular struck us as so good ( she was everywhere, checking us in, overseeing breakfasts, arranging dinner bookings, etc) that we thought she was a manager. As an experienced CEO, I would have hired her in a nano second had I been in the hospitality industry. But all of the staff we met were polite and helpful. It might be time to check the central heating radiators and lighting in bedrooms. But such a wonderful place that it seems unkind to point out any negatives.
- Brendan (9/5): Superb - Convenience All good
- Stephenie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Northey (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Jeni (8/5): Lovely place and we will definitely stay again. - Lovely pub in pretty village with fabulous tap house and restaurants. Clean and very helpful staff. Stylish interiors and very comfortable rooms. Still cosy and comfortable to sit in bar and read book or play cards or chat with friends. Lovely breakfasts.
- Judith (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (6/5): Dissappointing - Location A bit tired, needs updating.
- Joanna (8/5): Short trip to see friends- v lucky with the weather. Would use hotel again - Friendly staff good local Evening meal not quite a good as we’d hoped
- Deborah (8/5): Very good - Lovely old coaching inn, good dinner and breakfast and nice garden. Also dog friendly. We had the loft room which was very hot, not the hotels fault as there was a heatwave, normally it would have been a good room
- Terry (8/5): Overnight Wedmore - Friendly and efficient staff. Quality of the cuisine on dinner menu. Disappointing/poor breakfast menu.
High price of wine by the glass.
