Guest Reviews
- Jensen (1/5): Not recommended - Nothing Old no hot water host bad attitude no common area kitchen dirty. I can’t believe I found a place like this in Japan
- Arlette (7/5): Good -
- Vorapoj (4/5): Disappointing -
- Courtney (7/5): Lovely & great price - The accomodation is extremely quaint and older, lots of character. The host was very lovely, always trying to help make sure we were comfortable, and assisting with driving us around Hakuba a lot! Sometimes there was not enough hot water, or it was a trickle so we couldn’t have a proper comfortable shower! Location isn’t too far from the main restaurants however a little too far to walk in the cold and it was very difficult and long waits for taxi’s or Ubers sometimes at night time after dinner. The very lovely host kindly helps out every other time of day with picks ups and drop offs
- Kirsty (9/5): Superb - The host was very kind and took us to and from the slopes and to restaurants in the evening
- Weixuan (9/5): Superb - Host was very friendly and helpful in ferrying us to and fro the ski resort. Resourceful as well
- Aaron (9/5): Superb -
- Khalem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Callie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elliot (10/5): Exceptional - Great owner, took us every where we needed to go during the day in his car!
- Mark (8/5): Enjoyed it, but would probably stay in a more practical location next time. - A beautiful property located on the hillside in the woods virtually, about 1.2 km from the Hakuba village and bus terminal. So a beautiful setting. The owner was very cooperative to drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon at the bus terminal for skiing. Also to drop off in the village in the evening for dinner. If not though, the location would be impractical. Walked home most nights after dinner, but difficult when it had snowed. Caught a taxi one night which was about 1400 yen. Hot water for shower was inconsistent and seemed to run out quickly.
Enjoyed the stay but for practicality reasons I'd probably stay close to the bus terminal or on the free village bus shuttle route next time.
- Luke (10/5): A lovely cosy accommodation, the hospitality was exceptional - Even though you are not in the town, we were dropped off and picked up from skiing and dropped off for dinner.
- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- Benn (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifet (8/5): Very good - Very basic but we expected that. Host was extremely kind & welcoming though & even though he couldn't speak English & we couldn't speak Japanese he still constantly offered to drive us to the ski areas, bus terminal or into town when needed. He did this for all guests so always seemed busy running people about & picking them up, going out of his way to help.
- Kate (9/5): Superb -
- Lachlan (10/5): The Owner was super kind and offered to drop us off/ pick us up. Very helpful. -
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional - Was a awesome place kind of out of the way but not to far you couldn't walk. The owner was extremely nice and tried to communicate in English where possible
- James (3/5): uncomfortable - pleasant European style wooden ski hostel.
transport available at particular times if pre-arranged. lack of facilities.
isolated location
cold room
bin in room not emptied and no bins available around the property
- Dongze (8/5): Very good -
- Mike (8/5): A good ski base up the hill - Very nice Japanese style lodge. Very nice private onsen and room. Quiet place to unwind after a day skiing. Hiroshi was a gracious host and kindly gave us rides to the bus station where there are free buses to ski lifts or dropped us at iwatake which is nearby No buses here or kitchen facilities. But one very good restaurant 500m up the hill and host kindly gave us rides down to town and happo bus station
- Yuanhao (9/5): Superb - The owner was super nice, he literally drove me around Hakuba. The lodge also has a really cool vintage atmosphere, though obviously don’t expect a five star hotel experience, things will be rough around the edges.
- Jordan (10/5): Hiroshi was so accommodating that he made our stay more pleasant than we even anticipated. - Hiroshi the host was extremely kind. He spoke very little English but did his best to make sure he provided whatever we needed, including giving us rides to the resorts and to dinner at night. The shower was hard to get the hot water running, but in the mountains during the winter it wasn’t the worst.
- Amber (9/5): Clean rooms, quite basic just a place to sleep and shower, great location, lovely host. - Our host was so accommodating, offering pick up and drop off from the slopes and even went to the extra effort of driving us to collect our luggage after we had already checked in. So friendly and helpful. We couldn't get the wifi connection to work but that was the only problem we had - we didn't mention it as we only tried to use it quite late and we were only staying one night so this is probably something that could have been resolved.
- Moe (10/5): Exceptional -
