- Sarah (10/5): - From the moment I booked our 2 rooms at this hotel, the manager kept in touch with me to ensure our arrival and stay in Goreme had a smooth transition and start to a wonderful vacation! The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and accomodated our every need. We had an issue with our sink filling up, but they were able to fix it relatively quickly. The location of this hotel is great! Theres plenty of shopping right up the hill, and all the attractions with tours can pick you up right at the door of this hotel because of how central it is! Buffet breakfast was great! The manager even gave us to-go breakfast sandwiches and juiceboxes to eat on our way back to the airport, which was such a thoughtful touch to our overall stay at Shoestring Stone House! I would book this place again in the future.

Everything matched the description on the website, especially the free parking, which was a big plus. There were always available spots, and the staff kindly helped us with parking and our luggage. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable – we really appreciated having plenty of room to relax. It was clear that everything was well maintained. Breakfast was fresh, tasty, and offered a good variety. The entire staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. We had a great experience and would absolutely recommend this hotel. - Claudia (10/5): - The room and the bathroom are spacious. The double bed is big and comfortable. During winter there’s heaters in the room to keep it cozy. We stayed for 2 nights and would have stayed longer if we could.
- Lola (2/5): - We got so sick from the toxic mold in the hotel room. It’s such a cute hotel but this is a really big problem there, as most of the rooms smell like mold and mildew, but ours was especially moldy and had visible signs of mold inside the bathroom cabinet, on the ceiling, and on the walls. We suffered from flu-like symptoms due to the mold, and repeatedly felt a lot better as soon as we left the hotel and were out in the fresh air for some time. We brought our concerns to the attention of the hotel owner, but he refused to let us check out early and receive a refund. Really not a good experience for us. Aside from the mold, there was trash around the outside of the hotel, and the noise late at night and early morning kept waking us up. We do not recommend this hotel to others until the owner makes some much-needed improvements.

- Abhijeet (8/5): Good hotel, clean and big rooms - The room was nice, clean and big enough for a family of 4. It's a well maintained facility. The hotel is very close to high street so we could shop nearby, restaurants are closer. It was 24 hour reception. They provide breakfast but no dinner. We booked a hot air balloon ride through them, but it was cancelled on the day. They could not provide us the ride with the same rate, but when we paid more, they booked it for us on the next day. We should have got it in the same rate, especially when we booked it almost a month ago.

Konumu Göreme'nin popüler dar sokaklı yeri olmayınca park yeri sorunu da yaşamıyorsunuz. Aynı isimli ShoeString Cave House ile karıştırmayın. O mağaralar bölgesinde doğal olarak daha iyi bir manzaraya ve iki katı fiyata sahip. Kahvaltının özel bir yanı olmamasına rağmen, doyurucu ve yeterliydi. Tam bir kaliteli gezgin hosteli gibi düşünün. Sabah karnımı doyurup çıkarım, gece yatana kadar dışarıda vakit geçiririm gecede gelirim yatarım otelde vakit geçirmeye ihtiyacım yok diyorsanız, çok ideal bir yer. Ama manzara, biraz lüks, otelde de uzun vakit geçireceğim güzel anılar istiyorum diyorsanız farklı yerler öneririm. Ben uzun bir yolculukta mola vermek ve etrafı gezmek için 1 Günlük konaklayıcı olarak kaldım. Genel olarak memnun kaldım beklentimi ve ihtiyaçlarımı karşıladı.

Kahvaltıyı beğendik, çalışan hanımefendi çok ilgili ve güleryüzülüydü. Ayrıca otelden sabah balonlar çok güzel gözüküyor, biz en üst katta izlemeyi tercih ettik çok keyifliydi.

- 674nissad (2/5): Hotel+travel agency services from this hotel to be avoided - Hotel surroundings are terrible, next to a construction dump and tire recycling. We had room with terrace view here was so terrible and depressing (please see pictures) that I have never used it. Cleanliness of hotel could be better (towels were worn out with rips and holes), shower was not well cleaned before us and room is rather dark (like the whole house (dark), it has some creepy atmosphere). In the hotel there are no nice outdoor facilities (unlike other hotels in Turkey where you have some nice terraces or open space for breakfast e.g.). At times there was a bad smell in the room (not clear where it came from). Lastly please be very careful with travel agency service offered here! Cetin is a very good and quick salesman and can sell you anything, very convincing and pushy. We paid following Horse riding tour was 50EUR/PP, 2 h sunset I saw prices afterwards that were cheaper. Ride itself was good (Flower Horse Farm) but would recommend to check with them directly to make sure you pay the correct price. We had also bought green (70EUR PP) and red tour (60EUR PP, afterwards I saw prices for latter45EUR PP), all to be paid cash,.Green trip was OK (most probably also with big extra margin), red trip (by voyager agency), complete disaster. Clearly mass tourism without respect for the customer. Just treated as cattle good to open wallet that is all, quality zero. Also to note nothing is organized here, you will be added to a group of 16 (existing group and you might be sure your bus will be full). So travel agency services here are selling services only (broker). So if you want to be sure you pay correct price avoid extra commissions and ensure good value for money, better to walk around first, know the prices or even better pre-book via Internet. In general Göreme is very touristic place and very fake. No locals live there. Purpose of this place is money machine, to get as much as money out of people as possible, no respect just sell (get out what you can get, empty tourist pockets, milk the cows). The stay at this hotel and the way we were treated with the red trip offered by hotel left me with a very sour after taste after visit to Cappodacia. For second part of holidays (unfortunately 2 nights only), we stayed in Avanos, we had much better feeling here, less commercial more honest and local prices and much more relaxed atmosphere and nice surroundings (river). So instead of looking for a hotel in Göreme you could consider staying in Avanos (e.g. Avanos Suites – alcohol free). In Avanos, all services you need as a traveller are available also travel agencies to do Cappadocia tours, we found out that price of food and gifts in Avanos is 1/3 compared to Göreme.

Ideal if you have a scooter and want to explore the nearby valleys avoiding the traffic of the city center. At the reception they can organise all kind of activities. - Abdelhalim (4/5): À éviter - À l’arrivée nous avons eu une chambre dans le R-1, très humide, avec une fenêtre qui ne fermait pas ! Après réclamation on nous a donné une chambre au RDC, dans le même style, nous n’avons pas pu nous doucher à cause de l’humidité ! Chauffage et sèche serviette ne marche pas ! Le comble de l’affaire et ce que ne dit pas l’annonce, c’est que l’hôtel se trouve collé à un dépôt municipal en plein air, avec les engins de chantier et les camions poubelles , à côté du dépôt un stock énorme de pneus usagés . le matin à 7h je vous laisse deviner le vacarme !!! Seul point positif la dame très gentille qui prépare le petit déjeuner sur la terrasse, mais là encore nous avions la vue plongeante sur le dépôt municipal et le stock de pneus ! Heureusement que nous avions réservé qu’une nuit, nous sommes allés chercher mieux ailleurs ! Comme quoi il ne faut jamais se fier au jolies photos

Breakfast was great. In general it was an amazing stay; however, although all the staff was incredibly nice, the manager tries hard to sell you their tours - he even gave us wrong information (for example, he told us it was impossible to get to the underground cities by public transports; we ended up taking a public bus there which was super easy!)

- Julieta (2/5): Disappointing - If you’re considering booking here, I strongly advise against it. The balcony rooms offer disappointing views of a dumpster lot. It defies the purpose of pretty hot air balloons pictures. Additionally, I don’t recommend booking any tours through their concierge; we had a negative experience with inflated prices. For example, the Turkish dinner was priced at 75 euros here, while it was only 40 euros elsewhere. The same discrepancy applied to the red tour, which they quoted at 100 euros, whereas we found it for 50 euros elsewhere. We lost money here. I guess is part of the experience. The breakfast was subpar, with cold and greasy food, and our room had a moldy shower and a lingering smell of smoke despite being designated as smoke-free. I urge you to explore other accommodation options for a more enjoyable stay.

The breakfast, chef and cleaning staff were very good and attentive. Be careful not to confuse hotels - there is the Shoestring CAVE house and the, separate, Shoestring Stone house. At a guess the stone house may have been named to pick up confused bookings from the cave house. It also confused the local tour and balloon operators we dealt with so …. The only real blight on the stay was our effort to have some laundry done. The sign on our room said 120 TL to wash. The first person in the office said they don’t do washing; the second one said they do, but it costs 200TL and the sign is old. We paid the 200Tl (washed and dried). It can back wet, although some effort to dry it was apparent; we took it back to have it dried and again it came back wet (although drier). We took draped it around as best we could to dry it. When we mentioned it on the way out, we were told (at first) that it was dry and we couldn’t tell because it might have been warm, then it was ‘okay, some of it is wet but not all of it, etc etc. Only an incident, but says a lot about the attitude in the front office. We’re it not for the employed staff this rating would have been more severe.

Better to use the local taxi company down the road. Rooms are not soundproof and you can hear people making out in the room above.
- Ayesha (8/5): Clean hotel and good service - Prompt check-in, helped us book for the balloons. Property was clean and spacious. The restaurant was upstairs which I had thought is a rooftop but there was no rooftop. Breakfast was traditional Turkish was nice. The issues we had was leaking jet bath, water stopped running mid shower and the next morning we had no water until like 8am (apparently due to some local town issues). However, the night staff Aghora really did go out his way to help us. He gave a wiper for the leak, he sorted the water issue initially, in the morning 5am he failed to sort the issue again but gave a bottle of water to wash with for prayers. He really did try his best with every issue we had. That is why overall it’s a 4* Carpark area right outside. The town/restaurants all 10 mins walking distance.

The bathroom has many problems. The sink was blocked. the dirty water was not draining away. The shower tap was totally broken. The water was gushing out from the joints and the hose. The window in bathroom was not being closed properly. One of the head light of the bed was very dangerous due to electric leakage. I had a smal shock.

(특별히 감사했던 것은 저희 가정이 산에서 길을 잃어서 렌트카가 전복될 위기에 처했을 때 호텔메니저가 다른 도시에서 일하다가도 달려와서 밤 늦게까지 저희를 돕고 위기에서 구해주는 모습에 정말 좋은 사람들이 운영하는 호텔이라는 알 수 있었습니다.)

- Carol Ann (10/5): - We stayed at this lovely hotel for 4 nights (party of 6, 2 rooms) and it was terrific! Not only are the staff very friendly and helpful, but they are knowledgeable about all of the great places to visit and are very efficient about assisting in the organization of great tours and visits. They were also well versed in good restaurants (the Top Deck restaurant is a *must* - wonderful food and atmosphere and quite reasonable). While thé immediate location is a street away from the main boulevard and doesn’t have the spectacular views of some of the hotels, this is reflected in the price. You will spend all day in this beautiful region, so at night it is nice to sleep in a quieter area! In the morning, you can feast on a lovely traditional breakfast while planning out your day of adventure. As we were travelling light, we made use of the great laundry service. The bathroom has a lovely big shower which is great to get off the day’s well earned dust and the beds were comfortable. All in all, a great stay - I will be recommending to friends!

Purtroppo la stanza non è stata regolarmente pulita dopo 3 notti e abbiamo trovato le tazze sporche così come le avevamo lasciate. Inoltre la carta igienica l'abbiamo dovuta richiedere direttamente alla receptions. Anche la vista dall'hotel non è un granché poiché si affaccia in un cortile pieno di automezzi, fango e tubature abbandonate. Peccato perché.il terrazzo dove si fa la colazione potrebbe avere un bel potenziale. Il receptionist della notte in alcune occasioni ha risposto in maniera poco carina e si è dimostrato poco disponibile. Appena arrivati in aereoporto non abbiamo trovato il nostro transfert richiesto all'hotel ma per fortuna siamo riusciti ad arrivare grazie all'aiuto di un altro autista. Per tutta risposta, una volta arrivati all'hotel esausti alle 3 di notte, questo receptionist non ha neanche provato a giustificarsi, ma anzi rispondendo in maniera saccente "qual è il problema?". E ci ha anche fatto aspettare per la procedura di check-in (quando poteva benissimo darci le chiavi e rimandare tutto a l'indomani, visto la stanchezza e l'orario). I colleghi della mattina tutti molto cordiali e disponibilissimi a qualsiasi domanda o esigenza. Ci hanno aiutato ad organizzare i pochi giorni di viaggio che avevamo a disposizione, dandoci tutte le informazioni su costi, tour, transfert privati ecc..
